We've posted a couple of times already about our obsession with Twitter , a micro-blogging service that asks for updates in 140 characters or less. iReport already sends out Twitter updates every time we post a new assignment, and a few hundred subscribers get the scoop first. But we're convinced (by this and this and this , to highlight just a few examples of newsy tweets) that there's more iReport could do with Twitter.
So let's give it a try, eh? If you're on Twitter and you spot news worth announcing in 140 characters or less, ping @cnnireport. We'll feature some of those posts here, and if they catch on, try to find a cool way to present them on iReport.com.

Gas prices are crippling our country. Small stores in our town are closing and on the main highways you can see large stores closing. Everytime Bush tries to do something about it, our now Democratic congress shuts him down. Don't blame Bush. He has been trying to drill in Alaska. Congress shut him down.

17 buses left Houma, LA early today headed to Shreveport, LA, only to be abandoned by there drivers in a truck stop in Bunkie, LA. The drivers said they were only allowed to drive 8 hours in a 24 hour day. Many of the passengers are elderly, please get message to appropriate authorities.

Wake up call, girlfriend. You have something coming. Please, try not to think you are a tough or good reporter by using "bull" with male reporters. 1.Palin cut 62% money to help children with special needs now, Ironically she had a special need child
2.Palin didn’t want sex education touch in school now, Ironically her 17 year old to got pregnant
3 Republicans prayed for Obama to be rained out of his convention, Ironically it happened to them
4. Palin down played Community Organizer but, the Community organizers was the foundation for women movement. Community Organizers and the people are the authority that challenges people like Palin that think they are the authority. The community is the foundation for every major movement: Civil rights, Women rights, and Labor rights that ordinary people, middle class people, poor people etc… stood up for. Organizers are responsible for more people then Palin ever seen. I am not an organizer but, I am the mother of an organizer that is responsible for making decision on behave of more then 20,000 people on the presidential level and more then 100,000 on the vice president level of a national union.
5. Palin called Hilary Clinton a whiner and we can’t say anything negative about her or they call it sexism.
6. I would have thought that if Alaska was so behind Palin, why was they the only ones that gave delegate to another candidate?
7. Ethics and honesty, how could you say you trust someone that will misuse the power the people gave them for personal use against a family member.
8. If Palin is always proud of her country why is she connected to Alaska Independence Party, which wants to lead that state out of the union. Until a couple of days ago the homepage of the AIP featured this quote from the party’s founder: says “I’m an Alaskan, not an American. I’ve got no use for America or her damned institutions.” She was a member and now the current VP of the AIP describes Palin as still "very sympathetic" to their mission.
