Spam: It's not just canned meat

Mmm… hope you're hungry, because we've got some salty, meaty food for thought. You know those excessive and irrelevant e-mails that clog most inboxes and account for a significant portion of all Internet traffic? It could be argued that such content is also making its way to iReport.com, because we've received several comments and notices from the community expressing frustration with some of the posted stories and comments. So if you see something that looks like spam (the electronic variety), what should you do? Flag posts and comments you think violate the community guidelines . It might seem intimidating, but we encourage you to click that button. And, it goes without saying, but if there is anyone out there posting repetitive or otherwise improper posts, we strongly encourage them to pause and take a different approach. (Check out our assignment desk page for story ideas.) Take this opportunity to tell us what kinds of content seems like spam. Comment below and share any thoughts, ideas and solutions that come to mind.

Sorry, but I was unable to find anywhere else to respond... This morning, you guys had a tech feature with Miles Obrien testing a 'new' jet pack. Back in the 60's, I saw a jet pack demonstration at the CNE in Toronto. The jet packs were a quarter the size, 10 times more powerful and 2 or 3 people flew around the stadium perfoming air acrobatics. These things were amazing and had incredible agilitya and manouverability compared to this new 'clunky' pathetic jet pack. What ever happened to the original jet packs from the 60's????

It is sad but true, if people prefer to vote for John McCain before they vote for Obama; they will suffer along with everybody else.  Haven't that been proved with the Bush Administration?

Some people would not dream of voting for Obama or endorsing him simply, because of the color of his skin.  Obama have had more support from the White Community than McCain, and it keeps rising.  Many people have raised money, and given money toward Obama’s campaign.  John McCain is now earning voters, by trying to destroy Obama.

Not everyone is the same, and we are finally realizing we are all human beings.  I am sure many are proud of Obama, including Foreign Countries.  Keep up the good work. You understand the importance of Obama being the better choice.  What a Change!

McCain needs to stop being so negative when talking about Obama, again, this is going to backfire. The United States is also being judged by how they treat their own people. If their people cannot get respect, they feel this Country can not be trusted. This includes the immigrants that also live in the U.S.A. So many people have stepped up to the plate and done their part in the Presidential Election.

Just remember Black is only a color and I am tired of hearing Obama don't have the experience.  No one have the experience until they get the job.  President Bush had experience, Look what happened?  We are now in a recession, do we need this again?   Obama will have to work 3 times harder.  We need someone that can represent this country.  Yet they rather vote for a loser than a Black Man.

So I feel no matter how much experience you have, you can still be the worst person for the White House.

We have had Actors, and many others without any kind of knowledge of being a President, but they won the Presidential Election!

In my heart I feel Obama is going to win.  He does not need the Clintons.  If this was the case how did he beat her in the Primaries?   It's hard to believe, these people are even trying to pick Obama Vice President.  This is up to Obama, everybody else had a choice.

will do!

as far as repetitive posts, sometimes mine don't load, and I will reload them, however I always take the time to go back and add "delete" to the title and body and remove all tags. It's been working fine for me and normally my posts don't post more than once.

Thanks for the info! keep up the good work.

guys above, this is a blog on spam.

Greetings All!

I joined as an iReporter on July 9, 2008 and "sign" all of my comments with

"Homegirl for...sundaycosmetics.com".

I've received numerous positive private messages from people who appreciate my uplifting comments.  The "signature" isn't an issue. I've received one negative private message with profanity and threats to make me stop.  I prayed for that iReporter :)  I totally appreciate that people like me are allowed to include their Web site with comments...CNN is graciously allowing the "diamond in the rough" to shine. If it's a violent, x-rated Web site, it should be flagged and reported to the iReport staff.  But if it's not, in my opinion, it should be okay.   As far as I understand, posting one's Web site at the bottom of each comment isn't considered spam or is a rule violation.

Bailout will not repay taxpayers !

Bailout will not repay taxpayers !

The bailout will not repay taxpayers!  Nonperforming assets are defaulted loans on which the borrowers are in default for at least 90 days. Why will defaulted borrowers suddenly start paying their nonperforming loans when the Treasury buys them from Wall Street and banks?  Treasury will have to foreclose homes, repo cars and boats and send credit card accounts to collections to recover just a fraction of the book value of the nonperforming loans. Holding defaulted loans long term will not make them perform. The bailout is a huge loss to tax payers!
