One of the coolest parts of working with iReports is seeing scans of old, faded, dog-eared photos that people have taken the time to dig out of their photo albums. In light of the recent economic situation, we thought it would be enlightening to look back at the Great Depression and you responded with incredible personal stories passed down through your family. We heard from pamvhv about how her great grandfather used to steal chickens and saw some amazing shots including photos from the Depression era. Meanwhile, we cringed as arosesetfree described her horror at watching her grandfather dine on squirrel brains because that was the only food around. You really get a different perspective on the present when you hear stories like this. There’s a lot of lessons to be learned from the past. We've decided to make this a regular feature because these stories you send are such a valuable lens on the past and present. As often as we can, we're going to try to take a look back in time at some event or theme in history. Let's kick things off with a retrospective on the 1918 flu . Tell us the stories that have been handed down. We're interested in hearing about World War I, fears about the flu, how your family was affected and what people experienced when they went to the doctor. Health treatment was a lot different back then. Share your story with us and we'll take a look back, just as we did with the Great Depression.

Did Sarah Palin can't balance the sheets of her on bed. What the heck! The accounting method used to balance this budget will be more than any accountant would want to tackle-billions and billions and billions. I hated accounting and Know that. And this "scatterbrain" says she can do it within what!? Did you hear Palin? Please give us a break!!!

People are just going crazy about this election including me at times but, when you take stuff to places for business and get this Social Services when the news is airing then, just chill. This lady was in line and started yelling about all the abuse she suffered and how she will slap somebody White. It bothered me and I am part Black, Indian and Scottish so, what the heck was her problem? Chill out people. Whether Obama wins or McCain please do not go off into deep space. Cause I tell I use to work for a law enforcement agency and mental health and I will take your butt down. Ain't dealing with that. And she was talking gun-oh heck no! I will bust her up fast and for real and I do not care if she is blue.
People are missing the point. The election is great because of the candidates. It is great because we can and have the priviledge to vote-some Nations do not give any priviledges. In some Nations you either go with the flow or be hurt or killed. So, enjoy the fact that all races here can voice their opinions and be able to vote but, don't hurt or threaten to kill people or slap them or whatever. And, like I said to those skinheads I got legal too and sister can shoot. Now the same is for some other races too. So, stay out of Social Services and other places of business or anywhere public with the foolishness. I had my grand-daughter with me and if she started something and got my baby hurt her but would be grass.
Please think. We have freedom of speech and basic rights but, don't be stupid. Please! What a week! I have been campaigning and dealing with death in the family. So this just ripped it for me along with why I went there in the first place-which I suddenly forgot,really. Why? I was looking for the men in white coats to take her away.

Hmmm... went to polls at 7:30am expecting extra long lines in Kentucky state capital. Turns out, I was only person there to vote and told I was 36th person to come in today... One other voter showed up while I was there.

Has anyone caught on to the lack of history or reference to it on the news. The news anchors first report (correctly) President T. Roosevelt had the West Wing built. Later, the same day as well and on CNN, it was reported President Thomas Jefferson had the West Wing built. Could you get at least one historic reference correct? Or, how many more of these references are or have been incorrect? And, how many Americans believe the incorrect?

When are you going to cover the miserable accounts of ALL colors of slaves in America?
That is not what the economy wont's to hear after the economy is in bad shape.
They get bonus at AIG when the economy is in bad shape. At other jobs we don't get bonus, raises, we don't get our 5 days no more that's not fare.
