New president, new baby

We're hearing some compelling stories as voters head to the polls across the country today -- but few can match the intensity of Los Angeles couple Doug and Tracie Van Doren.

Right now, the two are heading to Cedar Sinai hospital to have their first child. Earlier today, Tracie was standing in line to cast her vote when she started feeling contractions -- then her water broke. She didn't want to get out of line, but had no other option.

Doug raced Tracie to her doctor, who confirmed the great news. Tracie asked if she could still vote. Her doctor said she had several hours before she needed to get to the hospital.

"She wrote us a doctor's note," said Doug. "This is an important election for us, and we just didn't want to lose our chance to vote." Back at the polling station, Tracie and Doug handed election officials their note. "They brought us right in and to the front of the line and we both voted right away," Doug said. He snapped a picture as Tracie cast her vote . "We're going to get a new baby and a new president all on the same day."

This really speaks volumes to your dedication to change. As I write this, Obama is up 174 to 49.  Here's to hoping your vote wasn't in vain!

Great news for you.  Too bad we never had anyone to choose that would make a president.  Obama can't fix the economy, just wait and see and oh immigration that is what made this country hit bottom over the years.  Just wait and see, I told you so.  A woman should of been president before Obama or a black man they are the ones holding it together for over a hundred of years.

Congulatory remarks on Barack Obama's winning presidency and the birth of new democracy.

Of all things, this election purports new start. For 143 years of racism after abolishment of slavery in 1865, first african-american president of United States presents a historical milestone. This will bring out a big change not only to history of human rights in U.S but also to Worldwide democracy.  For long, Korea and U.S have maintained secure relationship and we, Koreans, received many helps from U.S including this financial crisis instance. Hence, Korea once again congratulate Barack Obama's winning of the presidency from the bottom of our heart and through this moment, we wish to settle each other's inner conflict and pave a way to more solid relationship.

Congrats on your new bundle of joy. I am so sorry to say, however, that your baby will probably be paying for the blindness of our nation in electing Mr. Obama. How can we hand over our nation to someone who has NO experience in leading anything? How can we elect someone who did nothing but vote "present" in Congress or refuses to produce a valid birth certificate? What does Mr. Obama have to hide? Well, the deed is done. The stupidity of our nation is screaming all over the world today. Great nation-yes, beyond compare. Bright-the lights are on but no one is home.

My sister in law's mom has a similar story. She went to the doctor on Monday and had unplanned open heart surgery yesterday. She is an avid Barack supporter and was able to vote by proxy from her hospital bed.

I am not old enough to vote, being only fourteen; however I bought shirts and pins. This means so much to me. On the night of the election my grandmother said that she never dreamed of seeing this. Personally, I never dreamed of seeing this either. I hoped and prayed for equal treatment. I hoped and prayed that God would hear our prayers and give us a change. I hoped and prayed that people would unite as one people, not different cultures. Nevertheless, I could not really see it. I could not envision a black man, black woman, and black girls walk out on the stage, with the titles President, First Lady, and children of the president. I could not imagine there being two beautiful black girls on that stage that would look like me and my sister. A First Lady that had the skin tone of my mother was a dream, and mostly a President that looked like my dad. I had a dream, a prayer, and a wish, but I never thought it would come true.

Thank you America, whether you're black, white, Asian, Latino, Native American, or anything else that I missed, thank you for voting and helping. Next election I will be old enough to vote and I'll be proud.

Congratulations on your baby!!!!

Great American Spirit. This is why the whole world admires about this country. My cousin from Switzerland called me around 11 pm the day of the election to tell me a similar story they had on the news over there. I don't know if its your story, but if not its dedicated people like you that make this country the best. I have been telling it to everybody yesterday at work.

Congrats to you an your new bundle of joy. As for President Obama, let us not forget that it was Pres. Bush and the republicans that got us into this deep hole of mess and now you want Pres. Obama to clean up everything in four years or less. Have you lost your damn mind!! My hope for a better nation began with my vote for Obama. I lost hope with Bush after his irresponsible reaction to hurricane victims in LA and MS. Oh, and don't forget about 911 the Bush admin. planned their on attack on America. They knew it was a possible action that could take palce and did nothing to prevent it.

I would love to see all the other states do the same.  Ohio is the first state to have a bill passed to put emergency contact with our drivers license so if there is ever an accident law enforcement will no who to notify more quickly.  Please it is so very important for all moms and dads and others.  Wish it had already been in place when my son had his accident.

Thank you so much and Merry Christms to all
