I was young and white back in the day when we had flower children, made peace not war and Martin Luther King had a dream. In the seventies I had a Bi-racial child and the flowers, like Martin Luther all died. For years I felt the crushing strength of predjudice in America. To understand it you would either have to be born black in this country or walk the proverbial mile in those moccasins as I did with my child. For many years when I heard people deny the predjudice existed I would say that I would not be a black man in America for a million dollars. I cried like a baby at 11:00 on November 4, 2008. For the first time in over 30 years I feel like my America, the land of peace and promise is alive again. In closing, one thought, can we please stop being a nation of nationalities and finally begin identifying ourselves to each other and the world as Americans?

How can we claim we are a democracy when we are denying citizens their legal rights whether they have been born here or have become legal citizens.
Given difficult ones life can be, genuine gays and lesbians(as opposed to ones who choose to dabble in the "trend" of being gay)don't have a choice and if you aren't gay or a lesbian you won't understand that they don't have a choice.
Being a TRUE American means advanced thinking and living. It's not our place to impose our beliefs religious or otherwise on any minority. Why are people so afraid of others who are different from themselves?
It's not like it can rub off on you any more than someones skin color can rub off on you.

i could care less about skin color i am white i loved seeing barack getting the presidency. standing by and watching bush and his self absorbed ways for eight years has has been hell. skin color might just help us all ease the tension..it might just take a black man to make us white people to see the error of our own ways. hell we havent been doing a swell job for the past 42 WHITE presidents yet!!! besides bush has SWORN enough of our troops to death. he should have to pay for there lives.he caused it by starting this damn war.. george go home and STAY THERE

Some years ago my local power company (who at the time built a power plant that ran over 300% over projected cost) requested from the Pa. PUC a large rate increase. Now, i had numerous friends who had worked ans sometimes managed the power plant project. i was totally aware of incredible theft of tools ,materials, plus horrible productivity and cost overruns--all union-related.
The end result???--
The rate-paying public was being asked to pay for the abismal, corrupt management of the plant construction. The Power Company (Phil. Electric Co.) has the gaul to ask for an over 8% rate increase, where a 2.5% increase was all that was needed to cover true inflationary forces--
Someone wrote a simple letter, sincere and indisputable, that caught on fire and ended up being distributed to countless power customers. The letter had one simple point--" IF WE ENABLE THE PENNSYLVANIA UTILITY COMMISSION TO APPROVE THE OVER 8% INCREASE, WE ARE CONDONING (APPROVING) OF THE MANAGEMENT OVERSITE OF THE ENTIRE PECO STRUCTURE, INCLUDING THE POWER PLANT COSTS. PLUS, IN THE FUTURE, THEY WILL COME BACK THE THE HOG TROUGH FOR MORE, AND THEY WILL NEVER BE FORCED TO RUN THEIR COMPANY AS AN EFFICIENT BUSINESS.
SOUND FAMILIAR ???
Oh, by the way, the request was denied, the rate was increase by approx. 3%, PECO went thru a major restructiong, hired (for once) outside managers with true management skills, and today, under a different name, is a much better company.
Note##when the request for higher rates was proposed, PECO rates were the 3rd highest in the nation. I wonder how all those elderly on fixed incomes were going to pay for all the free tools and materials.

The problem with the Auto compnay that we are bailing out the whole industry not only the big 3 company. This money will be paid anyway by the government either bailing out these company or by loosing the tax income and paying benifits for unemployed. The looses for not helping the big 3 at this time would be implified and will sunk the weak american economy.

That is not what the economy wont's to hear after the economy is in bad shape.
They get bonus at AIG when the economy is in bad shape. At other jobs we don't get bonus, raises, we don't get our 5 days no more that's not fare.
