I feel such gratitude for the realization of what I hoped for as a small white child in Iowa in the late 1950's and 60;s.  I yearned to live in a world of peace and freedom for all people.  It was something I knew, and know) in my heart.  I could not understand the violence as a child.  Hatred was so foreign to my soul.  We lost so much in that time.  I saw the deaths of the Kennedy's, of Dr King, of the dream that we can, indeed, live this freedom we understand in our untattered souls.  I saw myself shrink when someone said I hate all white people after Dr King was assassinated.  I so understand that emotion.  Yet, felt so alone.  I mourned too.  We can-- we are together on this.

I am grateful for the witness of community service.  This is the way our country can breathe again and show the way.  What an elegant leader.  What a profound time.  I recognize that we are in a new time.  That 2 flights in trouble were able to come to rest safely, protecting the lives of the people shows me to not be held in the loss of the past.  We can all make it alive.  We can all make this shift non-violently.  The Obama administration is living this in front of us.  Our President is my mentor.  How wonderful to say that.

We have arrived.  We are moving forward.  There is no need for silencing a single voice.  The movement is now.  It is alive.  We will be the best we can be.

Thank God.  Thank all who lost their lives and risked the truth of non-violent revolution.  Thank each of you who are part of this advance in our human society.

After watching Martin Luther King Jr.'s "I have a dream" speech I continue to be inspired by him. I honestly wish I could have been alive to witness him give the incredible speeches he gave and the leadership he showed in the marches and sit-ins. But what I am extremely proud and honored to say is that my son will not know a country of only white presidents. It will be a normality for Luke to see an African American President. I'm hoping because of this he will not know the fear and hatred that once existed (and still does in some places) towards blacks. I'm hoping he will never learn to judge people by skin color, religion, or sexuality, but as MLK said "to judge by the content of their character". I'm praying that I will not let my son down, that I show him and guide him to respect people for who or what they are despite whether he likes them or not. It makes me extremely proud to start my family the year the first African American president was elected. I pray that President Obama is able to guide and lead this country in honor and be a prime example for even my son. It will be an extreme honor to watch Barack Obama sworn into office tomorrow morning - I can't wait to share that moment with Matt and Luke! :

In the 39yrs of my life this is the first time I have ever been proud of AMERICA. I do not expect Barack Obama to solve the problems of this country. I do expect this country as a whole too help Barack Obama solve the problems of OUR country. No I do not think that Dr.KING'S DREAM is fulfill,but I think as a race we are on the way.God bless and protect the Obama's.

Let’s get the real estate market moving again and help stimulate the economy without it costing the taxpayers anything!!! 

As a real estate professional for over 24 years I have seen many markets, and know that this one if far more complicated than most. My frustration is with the fact that so many decisions in Washington are being made based on THEROY and are not being followed to the point of implementation. How will it really work? is not a question that is asked often enough. In regard to how we can get the  real estate market moving again and more importantly get more money into the hands of people without it costing us BILLIONS of dollars? I will make my requests and thoughts as simple as possible. (Common sense is not as common and one would think and the Bible says that “God has chosen the simple things of the world to confuse the wise”.

SIMPLFY  

In the beginning of 2008 Congress raised the “conforming” loan amount to $729,500.  I say “conforming” because that happened in theory only, in truth it was adjusted per county based on the average sales price. Even in the most expensive areas of our nation the $729,500 was not really treated as the conforming loan, only loans under the original $417,000 conforming amount were treated as truly conforming loans. Any loan between $417, 000 and 729,500 were treated as “jumbo conforming” resulting in interest rates of 1.5%-3% higher than the original conforming loan amount. 

As a professional who is involved daily with the TRUTH of real estate market, here are points that I would like considered;

1. We need a national loan conforming rate that is not calculated per county. In light of the current situation I see no reason for rates to vary per county when the value of a property is set by what someone is willing to pay for it and then by having the value confirmed by a LOCAL appraisal. Too much time and energy is being spent on trying to calculate conforming loan amounts per county. The national conforming loan amount should be set for at least 2 year and may be reevaluated at the end of that period.

2. I strongly feel that the only JUMBO loan would be loans that exceed the national conforming rate. Again, at this time any loan over $417,000 is considered “jumbo conforming “resulting in substantially higher interest rates on any loan in excess of that amount, with a substantially higher interest rate on loans in excess of that amount. 

3. When we hear about the current interest rates of 4-5%. These rates are applying only to a portion of borrowers. I like many first time buyers, used an FHA loan to purchase my first home many years ago and there is certainly a need for this type of loan, but these loans only require 3.5% down payment. If something constructive is not done to stimulate the real estate market and stabilize the values, you can see how these new homeowners will soon join the millions who already own homes where the loan amount exceeds the value.  

4. Buyers need to qualify, properties need to appraise, but sadly the most qualified buyers are being penalized by the current policies. Qualified buyers seeking a loan above the current $417,000 even with a minimum of

20% down often and with credit scores of 700+ are accessed higher interest rates.

5. This would not only help with property sales and new loans but also on those desiring to refinance. How much money would this get into the economy as a stimulus? Let’s take as an example a well qualified buyer or homeowner re-financing their loan.

    Current interest rate for either a purchase money loan or current rate on an

    existing loan of $500,000

    $500,000 loan amount

     6.5% Fixed rate, amortized for 30 years    

     Approximate current payment = $3,160

    New or refinanced loan of $500,000

    5% Fixed rate, amortized for 30 years

    New payment =$2,684

MONTHLY SAVING approximately $476.00 or YEARLY SAVING of $5,712.00

$5,700 in the hands of taxpayers and at no cost to the tax payer, this is for only one loan, can you imagine the total benefit to our nation when in truth this number is multiplied. 

I ask you help in getting this message before Congress!!!

I'm afraid, so very afraid. We stand at the threshold of a new beginning for our country. A light at the end of the tunnel. I have seen that light before. I saw it in JFK, I saw the possibility of it in Robert Kennedy, Martin Luther King was a beacon of what could be. These were men of vision and hope for our country. President Obamma is of the same stature. We have all been presented with a hope that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Now I stand here afraid. I am scared to death that history will once again repeat itself. These were all men of the people, men who stood shoulder to shoulder with the common man and gave us hope. Men whose dreams were ended because they were of the people. I so want this light to shine. I sincerely hope that providence will protect him and keep him safe. I believe that the future of our country depends on it.

Congratulations Mr. President-Elect Obama:

I tried hard to get to D.C. but was not able to do so.  However, I have been watching everything on television and wish I could be there.  People do not understand the significance of your inauguration, but they will one day soon.  What I like best about you is your mother's anthropological concepts that are instill within your perception of the world.  I like your grandfather's kool demeanor in the time of stress, and of course, the intelligence that only a grandmother can instill within a child. 

I pray that my own 11 grandchildren will find some conformity in the stories of the South that I tell them and in the love of people of all races that I maintain.  I hope to meet you one day Mr. President.  In the meantime know the World is watching you; but don't worry about it, the Saints of God have got your back ---prayers change things (smile).

Let me say that I think he shouldnt be the one. I think that we better back up and realize that he is not Jesus Christ but a man that is trying to do his best.  I want to warn United States Residents that he is not the Messiah, but only a man. We all have to pitch in to help the nation grow up. I have had to learn that personally. I have been in jail and the only reason I do not have a felony today is thanks to my FATHER and I know that I have a voice and so does everyone else.  We have to grow as a nation and say I have to DO MY PART.  It is not all sbout Obama. I have been racist myself and we have to admit it and not just say I admitted it but that we understand it.  Its not just white and black.  I am half Mexican and I have had some problems with my brother and I know Christ says love your brother but sometimes it is hard and we need to admit that or we can not grow as a people.

My family will be watching from our home in N. Canton Ohio.  We have supported President-elect Obama since his campain stop in Youngstown, Ohio.  Let's not forget, he not only brings Black America to the White House he also brings White America.  He was raised by his white mother and grandparents.  He was brought up to be proud of ALL his heritage.  He was raised to be concerned about ALL people.  This is what makes Obama what he is and what he stands for.  It also allows him to speak for ALL Americans. You have to admire a man who would give up practicing law with a large firm to go back to urban America and help where needed!  Everything in Obama's history gives him the ability to lead this nation and to bring ALL people here together.  There has not been any one man able to do this since JFK.  What a marvelous time in our lives to be living with such an undertaking!  I pray constantly that Obama is given the chance to show the world his abilities to lead.  We all need to stand together so the future does not allow this great man to be taken away from us.  God go with the Obama family and the USA.

It was a proud moment in history when an African American man born in Hawaii, brought together a nation as one.  As a veteran sitting in the VA hospital in San Diego California.  I along with many other vets watched on tv "the chosen one" to lead this nation back from the brink of economic disaster. Take the Oath of Office, each and everyone around me felt the pride. Today we joined together as one nation under God.  It was not a "black thing it was an American thing"
