Was Nancy Pelosi wearing a Snuggie?

Pelosi's outfit was just one of many hot topics on Facebook during Obama's first address to a joint session of Congress Tuesday night. CNN.com Live teamed up with the social networking site to allow users to watch the speech and share their thoughts via status updates with friends and others tuned in around the world. But Facebook wasn't the only place where people were discussing Obama's speech. We received several video commentaries on iReport.com, many of which praised the president for his take on the economy. "I thought it was exactly what the country needed to hear," said iReporter Mark Hooprich. "Very sober, yet uplifting talk from a president who appears to be in command and has a very clear idea of where he wants to take the country." The response to Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal, who delivered the GOP reaction speech after Obama's address, wasn't nearly as warm. Sie Dozier said the Republican Party should stick to its "all-stars," like House Minority Leader John Boehner. "They, to me, better communicate their party's ideals ... more effectively than this new Bobby Jindal character." Did you watch the speeches last night? Join the conversation! Share your reaction on video and see what other iReporters had to say.

I believe he told the American people exactly what they want to hear.  However, he has yet to prove his ability to lead... he has yet to prove that he walks is talk and he has yet to prove that the knows what he's doing...as president of the United States.  He already has a closet full of mindless decisions...e.g., having the speaker of the house write the spending bill (which it really is)making exceptions to his very own declarations of what he would not allow... to name a few.  But he is clever...however being clever and dodging the truth and forever changing his mind by jumping from one side of an issue to the other is a red flag. Don't forget that we paid for the speaker of the house to go see the Pope as well as otherdems...  Pay attention...one speach does not a leader make. we need to pay attention to everything that they (Dems and Rep alike) are saying and doing and see if it's a match. Don't fall for a clever move and slick talk.  We are much smarter than that!

Who cares. The main thing is to transform her partisan image to a more balanced approach to both sides of the aisle to get this legislation on health insurance, energy and education through the congress in a form that might get through the Senate log jam needing 60 votes. This requires diplomatic and political stagging I have not seen yet and the use of raw political power only as necessary.

President Obama nailed it!  He was clear, specific and called for everyone to set aside the anger and bipartisianship and get this country moving.  He reminded everyone in Congress that they were elected to serve...to to take.  Unfortunately, the Republicians have forgotten how deeply in trouble their lack of leadership has caused this nation over the past eight years and are still drinking the cool-aid they want everyone to drink.  It's time the Republican leadership either grow up, get on board, or resign and walk away from the lobbying money they've gotten used to.  The nation needs some maturity, not more fault-finding with no solutions.  John McCain seems to have forgotten that he lost.  And now he's showing all of us that he is not a player, has no ideas and only wants to continue to complain.  This man has seven homes...he doesn't represent anyone in America!

Why aren't Obama or anyone else in the government not wearing department store brands... Now don't get me wrong every American citizen deserves to support any textile brand they chose, but he owes us some change... he owes us some money... we are on the stoop of poorhouse... If he doesn't want to wear a suit in his office, let him were shorts and flip flops, they cost less, we can pay him less, he will be supporting smaller business, creating competition for the bigger business, and make a lot of nervous citizens laugh instead of feel like outsiders or underlings..

We don't want a president who tells us that a mission is "accomplished" when in fact, it is just beginning and things are utterly ugly. Anyone who doesn't want or like the truth should probably go and live in a country that is under autocratic rule.

It would be dangerous and dishonest for the President to tell us things are great when even 4th graders know they aren't. Instead, telling us the truth but promising to lead us through and remake America is exactly what a true leader needs to do (that is what the President did) and that is exactly what the American people wants to hear.

We are not a country of whiners. We are winners. But to win, you need to know what the stakes are, and what resources you need to win.

Ice Cream & The Election

Excellent analogy! From a teacher in the Nashville area.   Who worries about "the cow" when it is all about the "Ice Cream?   The most eye-opening civics lesson I ever had was while teaching third grade this year. The  presidential election was heating up and some of the children showed an interest. I decided we would have an election for a class president. We would choose our nominees. They would make a campaign speech and the class would vote. To simplify the process, candidates were nominated by other class members..   We discussed  what kinds of characteristics these students should have.   We got many nominations and from those, Jamie and Olivia were picked to run for the top spot. The class had done a great job in their selections.     Both candidates were good kids.  I thought Jamie might have an advantage because he got lots of parental support. I had never seen Olivia 's mother.   The day arrived when they were to make their speeches Jamie went first. He had specific ideas about how to make our class a better place.  He ended by promising to do his very best.

Everyone applauded.  He sat down and Olivia came to the podium. Her speech was concise.  She said, "If you will vote for me, I will give you ice cream."  She sat down.   The class went wild.  "Yes!  Yes!  We want ice cream." She surely could say more. She did not have to.   A discussion followed. How did she plan to pay for the ice cream?  She wasn't sure.  Would her parents buy it or would the class pay for it?  She didn't know. The class really didn't care. All they were thinking about was ice cream.    Jamie was forgotten.   Olivia won by a landslide.    Every time Barack Obama opened his mouth he offered ice cream and fifty-two percent of the people reacted like nine year olds.  They want ice cream.   The other forty-eight percent of us know we're going to have to feed the cow and clean up the mess.

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi's home district includes San Francisco.

Star-Kist Tuna's headquarters are in San Francisco , Pelosi's home district.

Star-Kist is owned by Del Monte Foods and is a major contributor to Pelosi.

Star-Kist is the major employer in American Samoa employing 75% of the Samoan work force.

Paul Pelosi, Nancy 's husband, owns $17 million dollars of Star-Kist stock.

In January, 2007 when the minimum wage was increased from $5.15 to $7.25, Pelosi had American Samoa exempted from the increase so Del Monte would not have to pay the higher wage. This would make Del Monte products less expensive than their competition's.

Last week when the huge bailout bill was passed, Pelosi added an earmark to the final bill adding $33 million dollars for an 'economic development credit in American Samoa '.

I am very appreciative that President Obama has education as a top priority. In the public school where my grandson attends, the children are not allowwed to bring the books home. He is on the honor roll but the mother has to constantly request a copy of the notes from the teachers so that he can study. Notes are placed on the board but the teacher keeps the notes. How is the child suppose to be successful without books?

I wonder if and when will the Republicans remember that they are suppose to be servicing the people as oppose to their party. The person without a job doesn't care about them trying to heal @ their expense. This is hypocritical. When a person is not able make a rational decision they should not have power in our government in such critical times.

I want to know where were they when 150 Billion dollars is unaccounted for in Iraq under their watch. Give us some accountability for that money.

Ok let me set the record stright for all of you, get over the love affair of someone that offers you every thing you need for free.  When you grow up and start paying taxes 62% and higher you will see the wrong of your desires, the American gov't does not owe you a home, healthcare, or a car or a free education!!!!!!  Ok with that said, you think its free right?  Where does Uncle Sam get his money "YOU".  Pelosi, Obama and the rest of the left wing idiots are going to screw this country up so bad France will look like a new nation  of conservatives.  The people who want Uncle Sam to take care of them should grow up, I'm sick and tired of paying your lazy way with my income.  LOOOSSSEEERRRRSSS and Pelosi looked like an Old Cow in a burlap bag!!!!!

Sometime I wonder if anyone know what is actually going on in America today, as well as globably.  If we spent more time in a through study of the Bible, as opposed to all of the nagative talk about others, we would realize that what is going on in our day was fortold in the Bible book of Daniel as well as other books.  Just Read 2:Timothy 3:1-5. We can be much better off if we would put more trust in God and what he has promised to do for mankind and less in inperfect man.

I've been looking forward to observing the nation's reaction to President Obama's first days in office. Well...it's been a little over 1 month...and I still can't believe what I am hearing from the political observers, commentators and politicians themselves on tv. They supposedly pride themselves on being professional and "un-biased", but it is shocking to me to hear how OFTEN our new president is referred to as simply "Obama" or "Mr. Obama". It's almost as if these people cannot bring themselves to acknowledge that this intelligent human being is our new president....much the same way Cheney wouldn't "stand" for seeing Barack Obama sworn in as our new president, so he showed up in a wheelchair...how Freudian! I've never seen such a bunch of sore losers and cry babies in my life. I can only assume that many of these so-called "professional" journalists and politicians have never had the good fortune to play any kind of sports during their lifetime, because if they had, they would know how to put aside personal prejudice and hurt feelings for the good of the team, or in this case, the country! That is called "good sportsmanship" and that is how a team, or a nation, wins!!!! He is not "the guy next door", he is not "Barack", he is not "Obama", he is not "Mr. Obama", he is "PRESIDENT OBAMA"....and these sore-loser Americans need to wake up to that fact and address him, and refer to him, with RESPECT! Even though I could not have disliked GW Bush any less....while he was in office, I still referred to him as President Bush, out of respect for the OFFICE! I'm hoping to report an improvement in this situation in the near future, with America coming into a more enlightened state of consciousness. And lest we forget....the Bush Administration AND OPEC got us into this jam that we are now in...so anyone who criticizes PRESIDENT OBAMA for the ways in which he is trying to fix it and get us out of it only shows their ignorance to the Truth and the Facts of the situation!

Why the Republicans want Obama to fail.

For the eight years of the Democratic Clinton years the US had its best, most productive years.

For the eight years of the Republican Bush W years the US had its most disastrous years.

How would it look for the Republicans if Obama was able to recover from the disasters of the Bush W years?  Isn’t it obvious why Limbaugh and the rest of the Republicans cannot afford to support Obama if they are to maintain any semblance of government responsibility?

During the Clinton years the Republicans were not interested in the welfare of the country, their main focus was to unseat Bill Clinton. In spite of all the GOP obstructionisms he led the country to its most prosperous years. I now realize that the GOP has been transformed from the Grand Old Party to the Goons Obstructing Progress.

Why does the United States have President Obama under the mircoscope every single day of his life. You guys didn't put the Bush administration under the microscope and they are the reason the country is in the condition that it is now as President Obama keep reminding us. He inherited this crisis that the country is currently in. Why can't we the people sit back and see what is going to happen. After all you wasn't complaining 8 years ago!!!!
