Thank you! I am going to check it out.
Tyson, Where can I get clarification of the qualifications? Specifically, I am wondering if you accept students currently enrolled who already have a college degree. Does the degree disqualify them?
One question. Does this lead to an eventual paid job?
Hey there - good questions. You can read all the details on the qualifications and application process here: https://careers.timewarner.com/en/asp/tg/cim_jobdetail.asp?partnerid=391&siteid=36&AReq=110728BR
Tyson,
How is CNN not able to come up with Minimum wage to not pay an Intern?
Tell me where I can contribute some money to offset the costs incurred for this Intern for taking this Job...err...(what is the word for doing work and not getting paid?)
lila, so to clarify, this from the qualifications: "In addition, students may not have graduated college or graduate school prior to the start of the internship (i.e. students must still be enrolled in school during the time of the internship)."
So a college grad who has returned to school does not qualify, correct?
Intern MEANS no pay.
no spontaneous, often interns get paid, even if it's a stipend.
Rosehhips - you are right. Part of playing in the real world work will is getting real PAY - even interns know that!!!
ponzies
good grief! they want someone who known Final Cut. Not many people have final cut due to the cost of the program unless they are a webographer, filmographer or work in SFX and multimedia.
For these experiences a person has put out at least; $80K in education or 1-2 years working in a media related world.
and they want you to work for NO PAY for 3 months and then hire another FREE INTERN after they use you.
Is Madoff behind this???
Dear iReport Team;
Thank you, for opening the door of opportunity to us.
Sincerely,
Mz. Ella @ LadysHoodJnl Reporting.
It's a noble gesture and it should lead to something outside this box people.
CNN can't even afford $10/hour for an intern that is proficient in Final Cut? How's that for a sign of today's economy problems. btw....that works out to less than $5k for 3 months of full-time work.
For those of you grumbling about Final Cut Pro, I quote from the list of qualifications for this internship. Note the "a plus" at the end:
"Understanding of web technologies, Final Cut Pro, and Adobe Photoshop a plus"
Well, it's a great opportunity for someone who wants to pursue this field. Unfortunately, it eliminates a lot of ireporters who cannot afford to work for a summer without pay.
i want to go
tell me the details and who is selecting and how and i will be there thanks
larena
Hi larena. You can check out the application process here: https://careers.timewarner.com/en/asp/tg/cim_jobdetail.asp?partnerid=391&siteid=36&AReq=110728BR
I think if a college student has financial backup and has no problem working during the summer for free, this would be a great learning experience for them.
Unfortunately, this middle class family has to pay for college and can't afford to work for free, we have a future nurse in college and a future math teacher going to college in the fall 09. 1 point shy of a scholarship on the ACT test, we're screwed!
I'm sorry to say, but it's a sad future for our middle class families. We qualify for nothing, this economy is driving us in the ground.
But if you're a college student w/money I think you should go for it! This summer job can change your life!
Best of Luck!
