The latest and greatest on CNN iReport, brought to you by Team iReport.
Amid news of unemployment rates and struggling businesses, it's nice to hear some positive stories from the workplace from time to time. infoaddict, who shared several job hunt stories on iReport.com and formed a strong support group as a result, is happy to report that she found a job.
Even though she's now employed, infoaddict hasn't stopped sharing videos. She sat down with her boss on the first day of her new job and asked him why she was qualified for the position. The coolest part? Her experience with iReport.com helped her land the job.
"I've told you how important it was for me to get focused and confident through using a Web cam," she said. "iReporting took it just that much further because I got feedback from all of you."
Thanks to infoaddict for brightening our day with such wonderful news. Do you have a economic success story? Let us know .
Thanks very much, Katie, for this lovely post. I hope that my job hunt story has informed the process for others. I will say that I was out in front of the government. I was doing videos on dealing with depression and anxiety. Yesterday I learned the government, aware of what the economy is doing emotionally to people, has started a website to help those emotionally distressed by the economy. Here is the url: http://www.samhsa.gov/economy/. I was humbled by the response to my frank and honest reports of how I was emotionally dealing with joblessness, etc. I feel so very good that I may have really helped someone and to have the need for such "talk" confirmed by the new Government website is heartening.
Two month's until summer vacation and still no job in sight , it's been 2 months, it's not for lack of looking but in Derby,ks the job shortage is amazing.
I'm a mother of 2 , a 10 year old and a 3 year old that I haven't seen in 9 month's , and both are expecting to come out to see me, and i just cant let them down. I love them so much it's killing me to be away from them. That's were you come in,the generosity of strangers. A good deed if you will on your part, We are crossing fingers and toes in the hope that their are still compassionate people out there . My wife is "fully qualified" to teach in the state of California. You see California has a really dirty little secret. If you are a California "resident", you must complete a "5th year" of study before you can receive your teaching credential. Which she did. Now you have too many semester units which makes you a more expensive teacher and now none of the school districts out here will hire you because they can go out of state and hire someone without a "California teaching credential" for MUCH less money. This is blatent reverse discrimination! She has been trying to get an elementary teaching position now for "18" years and the excuse is that she "was not selected for the position". California school districts do not have to give a ligitimate reason for not selecting you. It is a crying shame as I have seen her in the classroom as a substitute teacher and she is "FANTASTIC" with children. California does not want "good qualified" teachers, they want "cheap" teachers. It's just another for of corruption pure and simple.
