The latest and greatest on CNN iReport, brought to you by Team iReport.
We're looking forward to talking to all of you at this week's iReport roundtable. It's been an amazing few days, and we're so excited and proud of what's been going on in our community.
We've talked to dozens of people in Iran, who have taken cameras, cell phones and video cameras into the streets to document the post-election coverage. Their work has been an incredibly important part of CNN's coverage of this story.
It's also a lesson to all citizen journalists. These men and women are telling their story, despite intense interference from the government. Your stories may not be that dramatic (in fact, we hope that none of you have to go through anything like that), but if you care about an issue, you can bet that other people will too.
Here are some more highlights from the week:
* We were thrilled by the response when we asked transgendered men and women to share their experiences. The stories were touching and most of the comments were thoughtful, respectful and mature. It's a tribute to you that people are comfortable talking about such personal issues. Thank you.
* iReporters MarieSager and Pixel sent photos and videos of the Los Angeles Lakers' victory celebrations and defmatnyc shared the scene outside the Staples Center after the Lakers won the NBA championship.
We'll open comments at 2:30 p.m. ET.
Hi everyone
Greetings all
Hello World!
Hi all!
Hello iReportarians! :)
Morning from LA!
Hey everyone
Unsure how long I will be able to take part. I am on call today and business what it is, I could be gone in a flash so...just a FYI to all of my fellow iReporters.
Interesting week with the disturbing images.
Have an idea for an iReport entertainment video assignment: "The Street's Got Talent", this would be an International Event. As we have "Britian's Got Talent" and "America's Got Talent", the timing seems to be right. For those who live in Main Street Communities, we could host "Main Street's Got Talent", separate assignment.
The Public can send in their votes to iReport (a good summer intern job) and the prize is a spot on The Larry King Show or whatever fits the bill.
I've lived in many big cities and have been pleasantly entertained by "Street Performers" for years and would like to see them have an opportunity to shine. I've been posting street performers and you can see what I'm referring to from my last "Street Performers" post. http://www.ireport.com/docs/DOC-270800?ref=email Many thanks for listening team.
What is the scoop folks?
While we're waiting for everyone to arrive, I want to bounce a project we're working on off of you.
One of our goals is to do more collaborative story-telling projects.
What that means, is that instead of doing stories that are purely iReport material or purely CNN material, we want to combine them into a more interesting product.
Anybody have any thoughts about what that would look like, or what sort of stories you'd like to try it with?
I must give a huge shout out to David. I was the lucky recipient of a major troll type of individual with some pretty horrific comments being said towards me and David and his team did a great job getting him removed. Thanks, David.
I have a few as well mab91c. Good for you.
@Davidw how about something like the My City, My Secret. CNN and iReporters teamed up to show their city. CNN showcased some of them.
@MarieSager -- We talked about an iReport talent show last week. It sounds like a fun idea.
Hello and Happy Thursday :)
@mab91c -- I'm sorry about that. Glad to see we finally got it resolved.
Maybe CNN Live Talent and iReporters meet via webcam, CNN Live Talent acts as the anchor while the CNN iReporter shares the story they are working on. iReport can be given a couple of days, Monday to start working on the story, have it done for a Friday show.
Perhaps by breaking the stories down into several broad catagories, it would make things easier. I know some only go to religious or political or off beat posts so, perhaps having a seperate tab for the collaborative efforts would help.
Howdy, everyone.
@Salsteeles -- Sort of like that, but I think we want to take it a step further, so that iReporters play a bigger role in the development of the story.
Hi Everybody....
Tags help to me mab91c
Welcome, everyone
@Davidw, can an iReporter call into a Polycom phone when you are having your meetings about story ideas or how about a sign up board just like at local news stations. Story ideas that you want someone to cover. iReporter signs up and is given a deadline.
I don't think I'm explaining this very well, so let me go ahead and point everybody to our first project http://www.ireport.com/ir-topic-stories.jspa?topicId=273870
We're asking you all to interview people about the bumper stickers they have on their cars, to show what they say about the person.
When we combine your reporting with ours, we should get something pretty interesting.
@Davidw Some of Team iReport were emailing iReporters a week ahead of an assignment. That gives them time to prep, etc.
@ davidw: I'm thinking "Street Talent", iReporter's capturing unrehearsed talent, people already performing.
Great idea, Marie.
Also, how about giving assignment deadlines and than actually featuring some entries.
People put effort into their iReports and some assignments just seem to linger forever or just fade away with no official end or reason.
@Davidw, the only thing I see that could be a problem is you are going to have to rely on iReporters wanting to do the story.
@Salsteels -- We are trying to put deadlines in our assignments more often. That is a great idea.
Having an online editorial meeting is an interesting idea too.
Interesting you showed the bumper stickers idea, David. Just saw a news report on the proliferation of grossly obscene bumper stickers anymore and what that says about society in general.
makes sense Davidw.
This is a hard story for me. I know know of anyone with a fun interesting bumper sticker.
I don't know of anyone with a fun intersting bumper sticker.
(sorry, typo)
I have a collaborative thought that would take several iReporters. Visit Emergency rooms in several cities and ask questions of patients, nurses with regards to insurance. Observe the environment. We can then see the differences in cities rural, urban etc. This would be a great time to get a composite of the country.
@mab91c -- The idea came up because we've all seen somebody in traffic with an unusual bumper sticker on their car and thought"I wonder what that person's story is?"
@Davidw, What about an iReporters getting to post story ideas and then CNN follows. A lot of times, CNN puts the assignment out and iReporters then follow. Example: The Texas 4000 bike run is coming into Colorado. These cyclist ride from Texas to Alaska. Is CNN going to do a story about it? Probably not, but an iReporter can do it and CNN can run it on CNN Live.
A lead could then put it all together.
@mab91c Do you remember where you saw that bumper sticker story? That's very interesting.
Thank you, Katie. :o)
EWillies1961 - I think if you tried that in most ED's, you would be removed by security. That could be construed as a huge HIPPA violation.
Lots of new assignments of late: iPhone, bumper stickers, action figure collectors --- check it out --- http://www.ireport.com/community/assignment
Also if you have a memory of your father to share please post tonight.
Thanks joyful.
@ewillies1961-
hospitals usually will not allow media in.
That wouldn't be invading privacy EWillies1961? Confidential issues. Hospitals are pretty strict with policies I would think. Just my thoughts
@EWillies1961 -- That would be an amazing story. I think we should aspire to do big stories like that.
@mab91c, @EWillies1961: Yes please be exercise caution in those situations.
Good afternoon everyone
quick question...some of these people on ireport want to make a statement on the gay community, thats cool for them, but must they video tape themselves in the nude?
this here is like a soft porn thing...
http://www.ireport.com/docs/DOC-274784
I saw it on (OK, everyone, don't jump on me) Bill O'Rielly report last night showing a very obvious obscene billboard for CK in Times Square. They prefaced with with the lack of civility in this country anymore.
@Team iReport Just on a sidenote did you see how many views the wolf cub and rottweiler got. Pets I tell you. Billion dollar industry and a lot of people will watch. No where is there a pet or animal heading under the assignment page. You have tech, living, and others. Pets generate a lot of viewership, and that is what advertisers want, eyes on the screen.
Wow ANAV
I think there must be a non instrusive way iReporters could ask questions in the sorroundings. I mean on this subject how could we get real information on what is happening? Suggestions?
@everyone -- Thanks for pointing out the potential legal issues, but EWillies1961 has the right idea. I know that we as a community can tell big, important stories in a meaningful way.
Spon: Crazy huh?
@Sal Yes, it was a great story! International media picked up on the adorable Rottweiler and wolf.
Yes it does. I posted about that story as well Salstees
agreed @davidw
People wanna make a statement, need to make it in a more educated way...NOT like that last video...
@ANAV -- I haven't seen that report yet. I'll check it out after our meeting.
Pets is a great idea. I have a video ready to submit. :o)
mab91c, we have been on different sides of this issue. I would love to collaborate with you on this and anyone else. What do you think?
Salsteels - I have done several on my pets...and I could do one a week on them. Love animals!
@Team iReport What about getting people to stay. All of these Iran photos are great for iReport now, but what about the community? How many members does CNN iReport have compared to the amount of people that show up on a regular basis.
Who monitors the dead bodies, blood, gore posts? Or do you know about it when it's flagged? It seems the same ones keep getting in over and over.
Hi Everyone... just got home.
ANAV Nothing much different than "naked boy news"
@David: alright, just saying since we dont know if 13 year olds browse this site, not a good idea for these people to be in the nude barely covering themselves...
@Mab91c If you make a pet story, then my family will watch! Keep it up!
How about asking people to submit only photographs they are personally taken to the Photo Club? In my opinion, copying and pasting pictures off the internet dilutes the whole purpose of a Photography Club.
@everyone We talked about a pets assignment a few weeks back and discussed that we'd want some sort of interesting angle or news peg before we created a topic. The wolf and Rottweiler story was perfect because it was cute AND newsworthy -- it's not everyday you see dogs and wolves making friends.
That being said, you don't need to wait for an assignment to post something on the site. If you see news -- cute or otherwise -- please share it!
EWillies, I honestly don't think we are on different sides of this issue (many others, yes). All I am saying is you would never get any type of video feed in any major ED that I know of. I would love to collaborate with you, but d/t my job in the health care industry, I would not be allowed to. I think it would be amazing to most individuals to realize that in all major city EDs many of the people in there do not have insurance and, regardless of their ability to pay, they can not be turned away. The bill is then just sent to the government and ...we pay!
Is there a way that the "unclaimed" can be filtered before being publicly posted?
@Davidw I know how hard it is building a community. What is team iReport ideas on this subject?
@Katie Come on now, Obama killing a fly is news and it was covered by everyone!
@Spontaneous -- We are monitoring what is coming into the site. We have gotten some unpleasant photos from Iran in the past few days, but that is part of the story.
We aren't allowing gratuitous violence, but we want people to be able to tell this important story.
I agree JoyfulGypsy as I take all my own pictures.
Margot: LOL whatever, guys showing his crack...
ANAV I gave up on my suggestion that the age be raised to 18. Teens should have their own area, IMO.
@JoyfulGypsy I agree. We do ask for original material, but we can try to make that more clear.
I hope that everyone in this discussion knows to only upload material that belongs to them. The photo club, and all assignments, would greatly benefit from original content!
Salsteels - Here you go. Hope your family likes it (not video, just pics) http://www.ireport.com/docs/DOC-267782
Oh ok. I didn't know someone dying, holes in babies and blood and gore -- with no viewer discretion was allowed. But it is. Ok.
@davidw
I will try in a very discreet way to do a small test and see what becomes of it. Think that is alright?
@Salsteels -- I can tell you that we are approaching 300,000 registered users. I don't have the numbers of repeat users handy.
@EWillies, could start with going to clinics instead of hospitals.
Hey Everybody
@EWillies1961 -- I think there are ways to tell the story without taking a camera into an ER. You might be better off just trying to talk to some doctors, nurses etc. and asking your questions off camera and then sharing what you learn.
@Salsteels
Good idea. A random clinic to make it more objective.
I've enjoyed watching the videos and pictures this week from Iran.....although it's a reporters job to tell us and show us what's happening, their videos are REAL, not edited and filtered, it's the view from their eyes!
It's clear katie but not everyone has access to do so. Giving credit to the author/image is accepted??
@ewillies1961 -
Speak to the media department with the idea and try chain hospitals first. :)
Good luck!
@davidw
Good point!
@KyleHD I'm glad you have! Citizen journalism has played a huge role in telling the story. It's been incredible to watch.
I also agree with JoyfulGypse and MarieSager. I think taking your own photos is important.
@Davidw The reason why I brought this up because many people upload a photo of a tornado or some event, then never to return. 300,000 registered users is great for the sales dept. to use for marketing but I would say less than a thousand are actually habitual contributors.
Be careful EWillies1961
@davidw
That is why you are the professional and iReporters the "amateurs":).
Spontaneous has a point. I posted a iReport several weeks ago about why i believe in miracles. The first picture was of my grand daughter in the neonatal ICU with multiple tubes, lines, drains, etc. Some found that picture offensive or disturbing, but I had no way of putting viewer discretion on the one without putting it on the others showing her today. Any way to block one in a series of pictures, but not the others?
@ChrisMorrow
Good point.
I can interview Dr.'s here in LA, but if I ask for an interview they will want to have it posted. Just let me know.
Salsteels, some people just report those types of stories just for that one time purpose. We can't make people stay. Some people have those huge views and never return intentionally. Their choice I guess
@Spontaneous
My biggest fear would be the private insurance companies knocking me off .
Perhaps copying and pasting stories, etc. is okay if you give the author/image credit in some categories, however, for the Photography Club (created for photographers) my opinion would be strictly no.
What do you say to this, iReport staff?
Hello everyone! How's the roundtable going today? :) J.Son aka NakedBoyNews!
@Ewillies Also, find some retired doctors that will tell you the story. That could also help with the info. See EWillies I get what you are trying to do. Someone needs to show the world how this is really messed up but sometimes it is hard for big media to cover this because they get a lot of their revenue from drug companies who buy a huge block of time of TV.
I know EWillies1961.
I will give you some very sage advice, EWillies; please go to the hospital media or public relations first (even to a clinic) and get a pass. They may allow you to do video with no faces; pictures with no identifying marks, etc. Always best to do that first. We went through major hoops with a hospital to allow a local ABC affiliate to film an entire organ donor from consent to management to operating room, then to the funeral of the donor. Very well done, but it was months in the making.
SalSteels So many of the original members who were here when I first joined are gone. All the "puff" pieces has lost appeal.
@Salsteels
@Spontaneous
Acknowledged.
Then the photo club needs to be specific. If it has "before and after" on the tag, someone may want to post to that and not "as photo club".
@Salsteels -- The numbers are higher than that, but I am working hard to encourage first-time contributors to be regular contributors. Our community is very important, and I'm happy to be a part of it, but we also are a newsgathering tool.
@JoyfulGypsy Like I said earlier, giving credit is only okay if you've spoken to the original photographer or videographer. In all cases, we want original content.
@mab91c
Point taken
@Spontaneous Look up fair use, if CNN doesn't want to use it then it is their choice, however, CNN does it all the time. Whether they call YouTube to use the footage or not is a different story.
@Davidw One of these days David, you and I are going to have a chance to talk about news of the record because I think you and I are on the same page.
Spontaneous - On the pictures, I had one I used, but CNN called me to see if it was an original so they could use it on their site. It was not (a web free share site) so I took one of my own and replaced it. I try to use only mine or my family photos now, unless I absolutely can not. I then give full credit to the photographer/site who took the pic.
You are right, Spontaneous. Guidelines for submissions to the Photo Club have not been very clear. That is why I thought I would bring it up today.
@everyone -- I also want to point out that some of the most compelling photos that have come out of Iran this week were shot with cell phone cameras. It doesn't take the latest, greatest high-tech equipment.
You don't even have to have a computer.
If you shoot something on your phone, you can send it to ireport@cnn.com
It will come in as unclaimed, but you can claim it and have it attached to your account.
Thanks for the clarification, Katie.
A lot of people don't have internet access on thier cell phones.
Great, thanks katie
@Team iReport Can you start listing story deadlines under the Assignments. Also, we are going to have to talk about the incentives for iReporters to actually go out and film people about bumper stickers, etc. Like I said before if people go out to film for iReport, use gas and their time to get 25 or 2500 views then get called names under the board, then that might not be worth it to them.
How about an iReport "Off My Back Porch"? Similar to your town, but many people have wonderful views, landscaping, kids, pets, etc. just from their back (or front) yard/porch. Would be kind of fun to see where "we" all live and work from in this community of iReporters.
I'm sure we won't get paid for being iReporters (gas, etc.)
@Everyone, Does it feel like we are working with one hand tied behind our back or is it just me?
It's an individual choice to be here Salsteels to me. We don't work for CNN and will not get paid for doing this. The team does a great job giving assignments and options to report in my opinion.
@Salsteels -- Our deadline for the bumper sticker story is July 26th.
Part of this experiment is for us to find ways to highlight this material as we shape the story so that it will be a more rewarding experience.
@Sponteneous I am not talking about payment, I am talking about Why do people do this? Ewillies want to do a story about the hospitals, is he looking for an award or payment or is he wanting to make his community better?
@mab91c i was thinking of something like that too. I know last week we were talking about doing a group video and it be kind of cool to hear the sounds of everyone's backyard together!
@Salsteels
Make the community better of course.
@davidw: Can I still encourage people to submit "Street Talent"?
Oh, you mentioned incentives Sal.
@everyone -- katie's too modest to point out that came up with that awesome interactive and then a great job putting it together.
@Salsteels - It seems that only those who can afford the equipment and software get attention.
@Spontaneous By no means am I trying to rip Team iReport or sound like some greedy person but if you have an attitude of take it or leave it, most people are going to leave it. Hey, I am busting my tail to get more iReporters in Colorado. I want more voices, it is a big state and I can't do it all by myself.
@MarieSager -- Of course, we want to hear the stories you want to tell. The best part of our day is when we stumble on an iReport that is wonderful and unexpected.
Il love the"Off My Back porch" idea Mab91! Perfect for summer.
Didn't say you were Sal. It's ok. I hear you.
@Margot707
Re: "only those who can afford the equipment and software get attention."
I"m sure that's not true!
Alun
I think Sal has triggered an idea. What if we make videos about iReport. What does iReport mean to you? After we submit our videos they could be used promotionally and maybe turned into a commercial to get people involved!
If iReports puts out a call for the Back Porch (Front Porch), I'd be happy to do one...but it will include nature pics, my grill (Texas after all), and my dog...gotta have the dog in it or else it wouldn't be a home right? (Don't tell the cat I said so!)
@Margot707 -- I'm sorry that that is your impression. I want everyone to have access to the tools to tell their story, whether they do it here or someplace else.
I've been doing a lot of research on this, but am open to any suggestions anyone may have.
My dream would be to have basic tools available in schools, churches, libraries, boys and girls clubs or anywhere else that people gather.
@Team iReport, it might be best to have a meeting a survey sent to a group of iReporters. See why they do this, how they feel they have been treated, how the community can grow and become better.
Do it mab91c. Don't wait on the assignment. It's a great idea
@MarieSager -- I also love street performers more than most things. It's one of the few jobs where people don't decide how much you get paid until after you do the work.
@KyleHD great idea. Can this be done or is there a lot of legal paperwork etc?
Did we have a roundtable a few weeks back on why we post?
@Salsteels -- The survey idea is a good one. I'll have to do some investigating.
@Team iReport Look I worked in local news and I know that your team is doing a great job. I guess what I am saying is what can iReporters and Team iReport do to make this community grow. Not all assignments are successful but how can we change that?
Salsteels, Margot707, et al - I'm sure that's not the case with iReports, however, having said that it does seem that certain individuals, regardless of what they post, are always "On CNN" video on a routine and or regular basis. Possibly it is their political slant (either way) or the fact that they have a lot of followers, but...it does seem strange at times to see the same 15 or so people always getting on while others rarely,. if ever, get on. I know that most of us do not do this for attention, but a little recognition from CNN is always appreciated.
I'm late...what is street talent?
How about linking photographs featured in the travel section montage to the original post when you click on the pictures?
@KyleHD, @Salsteels @everyone -- I'm not sure if we can do the promo thing, but if you want to do posts on why you iReport, I think it would make a good discussion.
No, Katie, I did not do the grillmaster assignement. After seeing some of those...well, I don't want to say I have grill envy...but after looking at them for a few hours, I tried to grill something and my gas had run out!
@Davidw, i don't know how many people are willing to fly to Atlanta on their own dime, but I got some vacation coming up and always wanted to go to Georgia. I bet if you put a conference together and even charged a small fee, people would come. You see this with blog conferences and comic book conferences all the time.
@everyone It's 3:30 and I've got to get back to my projects. Thanks for the great assignment ideas and discussions!
@JoyfulGypsy -- That's a good idea, but I'm not sure if it's technically possible. I'll mention it to our producers. We can probably do something to highlight that material better.
@davidw: Can I quote your last line on Street Performers? It's a great line.
@mab91c You still have time to submit! I'll be looking for iReports throughout the month. Go get some more gas for the grill! :)
And there are certain ireporters who make outrageous and obviously controversial statements to get attention and CNN jumps on those. I'm not saying all of the time, but there is one in particular...it doesn't matter how stupid or uninformed his post his practically ALL of his posts are "on CNN."
I am working on a series:
http://www.ireport.com/docs/DOC-263366
Asked 3 questions. Keep the theme, could be fun :)
oops! 2 questions asked.
+Why do you iReport?
+Do you have an iReport tip?
@Mab91c I understand what you are saying, I put a lot of work into my assignments and barely get any views. I would like to bring attention to the stories rather than myself. I don't know how to change this. I do know that the clock is ticking because other media outlets are catching on to this revenue stream and are starting to build the structure.
@Salsteels -- We would definitely like to have a iReport convention at some point. That's as far as we've gotten though. Fingers crossed though.
Good luck on the conference. Some people don't get vacation time, time off, in the recession $$ is tight.
@NehemiYah I think I know who you are talking about.
Sorry I'm late guys. Kids and summer make for a bus day.
@Spontaneous Not all but some people do and they will come.
I think for the most part, we (the collective we) post to express our views and to try to get our point of view out there, regardless of the message. I know it is frustrating for some to listen or read with an open mind toward the "other side" but it does help at times. I hope she won't mind me pointing this out but for example, Margot707 and I do not see eye to many things political, but we do see eye to eye on many social items. I love that about iReports. I hate the fact that many on iReports resort to inflammatory language, race/gay/religion/political baiting, etc. It's actually OK to have a difference of opinion with someone. That doesn't make either a bad person.
Great Sal
I would go.
@Adriana Sorry about the Shuttle!
Salsteels - I'll have to follow you then. At least you'll get a "hit" once in a while!
@NehemiYah: Street Performers are artist, musicians, actors, singers who perform on the street as opposed to the stage. Sorry for the delayed answer as I have a hard time keeping up with the thread.
I read all the post so far, some really good ideas. I'm headed to Wallop Island, Va this week to photograph the Max launch abort test. Is that something Ireports would like to see?
Have a great day, everyone. Gotta go. :o)
@Spontaneous Everything going ok today?
@NehemiYah -- We want to give everyone a chance to share their opinions, stories and we try to get as many new people involved as we can.
See ya in the funny pages!
@Mac91c You mean "On CNN?"
Couldn't be better. I am awesome Sal -- you??
@adriana71 -- Welcome. I don't know what a max launch abort test is, but it sounds cool and probably loud.
Bye, have a good day. Thanks.
@everyone -- Bye everyone. Thanks for a great week and a productive meeting.
@Spontaneous Uh, yeah, you just sound a little tense.
I emailed the pictures of my Dad to @hhanks. Thanks guys for putting the CNN tag, my dad is going to love it!
@David - Not one of my reports were featured since I had no "original material" at first. I didn't own anything besides my computer. Then I bought a cheap camcorder, and used it a few times. But iReports limits uploads to 100MB so most of my videos can't be uploaded. It's been frustrating.
Not at all Sal. Not sure this roundtable should be about this though huh??
ciao everyone!
One thing you can do to help the community grow with higher quality material is offer monetary compensation for certain stories. Maybe have competitions. It seems to me that CNN is receiving a wealth of information, pictures and video free of charge. Whereas in the past freelancers would have opportunities to make some extra cash now everyone is just excited to be on television. That dilutes the quality. I enjoy posting, but would compensation for professional quality work be out of the question?
@Margot707 maybe we can do something about that. A lot of people know about the tech stuff around here and are willing to help you out. It is not going to be easy and it will take a lot of patience.
Margot707 I see just pictures/non-original stuff get "On CNN" all the time.
@Spontaneous Well, when Team iReport puts a topic or rules about the roundtable then that is when we should follow them. When it is open forum, then I guess we can talk about "This."
@Margot...You can get a free download of MPEG Streamclip. That will enable you to compress your files to required maximum of 100mb. Of course, it would be better if they could increase the max to about 250 or 500MB...but that's just my opinion.
@Margot707
I agree with Salsteels - many of us, including me, will be more than happy to help you.
Alun
Now that sounds tense. I am sorry you are upset/stressed. Have an awesome day Sal! :-)
@Margot707 @Spontaneous is right, I believe you have to make sure to be provide credit to who took the picture or at least where you got it from.
@Spontaneous You too.
And that is totally agreed on adriana71.
Ciao my fellow Ireporters laundry is calling my name.
@Marie, thank you...and it's very hard to keep up for me too!
Is the win win situation turning into a give and take? To be continued...
My fist ireport discussion. I have many things to add, but hard for me to keep up.
Thanks everybody! Bye
@Pixel
Welcome - it's best to press your "refresh" button (or F5) every minute or so to keep up!
Alun
Margot do you have a Mac or a PC?
Thanks, AlunHill, I need all the help I can get! I will give it a try next time.
Life's too short -- Enjoy your day all! Take care--
Missed the entire meeting, but I sure like what I have read. So many wonderful ideas and suggestions from everyone.
Marie, I love the Street Performers idea and of course anything pet realated I am all about.
I 100% agree photo club should be original work.
Everyone have a good weekend y'all are awesome!
Well I blew it..
Didn't make it 'at all'~!.. :\
Don't you mean "suffering succotash!"
hi i though there wasn´t a meeting today i missed it well take care thanks kisses larena
Happy Father's Day to all Fathers!
hello
downwithahma, just joined 6/21/09? Mmmm, welcome
Who at CNN's monitors and cleans up the FLOOD of double posts from unclaimed?? If we do it, we get an email.
Hi; as a youthful (see I have to add that in today's world) 72 year old, writer, artist, planning to teach ESL overseas, I just want to urge you as Ireport continues to evolve, not to wallow in the trivial like so much of what we see on television. The reports (and ways and means of this) coming in from Tehran are amazing. As one who was born during the depression era, can recall WWII (and have written of some of this in my recent novel, Code of the Running Cross), and was an activist during the 60'ies, I am incredibly impressed by the courage of people, young, older, women and men who are standing up for their "freedom to be" in Iran.
Recently, doing a writers workshop for people between the ages of 65 and 100 (my oldest participant was 97), on of the writers, and Iranian immigrant, revealed stories of his experience during Iran's last revolution. (...and I do think this is a "revolution" - certainly one of mind and spirt and action, one that will take it's place some day in history along with our struggles to overcome racism, our own civil war, the revolution of the French people, etc) It was an incredible revelation, being privy to this man's view of the old Iran, and comparing it the reports coming in from the "new" Iran.
CCN/Ireport assignment desk: please, let's have some meaninful assignments coming forth from y'all!
thanks,
claudia

Ok Michael was a much loved icon and a very troubled young man but can we get back to the real news that matters?
My husband recently made front page of the Washington Wenatchee World saluting the troops with is tattoos. This is the you tube videohttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6H-QsqtIm1g and I have the pics from the paper, I think it would be a good story according to my son who is serving in Bagdad Iraq, but coming home next month, he is 19, been in service since 17, he says AFN is what he watches. Anyway I have the pictures if you want them or I can send a link to them.http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_S6grtkwJzX8/SlAFkQB52cI/AAAAAAAAAFY/DdJWev3DP7I/s1600-h/ww1.jpg andhttp://3.bp.blogspot.com/_S6grtkwJzX8/SlAFkzs12sI/AAAAAAAAAFg/56OemqG-OsE/s1600-h/ww2.jpg Hope there is something there for you I would not have written except my son suggested it.
