The latest and greatest on CNN iReport, brought to you by Team iReport.
We're happy to welcome CNN International producer Jessica Ellis to this week's roundtable meeting. Jessica created the "iReport for CNN" show on CNNI and now works to include iReports into the network's daily coverage. If you want to know what CNN producers look for on iReport.com, she's a great person to ask.
She's also a talented photographer and goes all over the world to take wildlife pictures (like the ones above). So you can also ask her any photo or video questions you have.
If you have any questions, comments or concerns, we'll be happy to address them too.
We'll open comments at 2:30 p.m. ET.
Hello World!
Hi everyone,
Hope you're having a good week.
Hello Ms. Ellis! Thanks for being here!
Hi all. Welcome Jessica!
Hello once again fellow iReportarians!
Our first Chicago meet up last night went great. We had about 11 people over all come, which I thought was a great turn out. Everyone was very friendly and all had great ideas. Not everyone was from iReport, but I think we may have some new Chicago iReporters soon! We talked a bit about doing collaboration reports, and that's something they all sounded excited about! There are so many different angles to every story. We are defiantly going to meet again, and even if you are just visiting Chicago come to one of our meetings we'd love to meet you and even if we don't have a meeting scheduled let me know! It was super cool to see people whose videos I've watched, or stories I read in person. I know there are a handful of you I'd love to meet! It was a good time! I defiantly encourage all of you start a group, because not only can work together but you can make some good friends, which I think what's going to happen with this group! One thing I learned a lot of other citizen journalism sites, give them their own business cards! Just thought it might be a good idea and throw it out there to iReport!
I'll volunteer to plan the national meeting! haha It'd be fun! I have so many ideas of things to do! So that's my story! :)
hey guys!
and by guys i mean sal, because i think you're the only person here at the moment. :)
@Davidw, you too my friend.
Also, is there anyway I can send you guys my pictures I tried uploading this morning they are not uploading to iReport for some reason?
...and of course now that's out of date. hey kyle, david, katie.
Hey Sal. Hey everyone. Hey Jessica Ellis.
Any exciting projects or assignments coming up? It would be nice if we received an email notification on really hot topics.. Sometimes I look through the assignments and notice I've missed out on some great discussions.
@KyleHD, you had a script planned.
Hi Everybody!! I'm glad to be here with you!
@KyleHD -- That's awesome. That's a great turnout for a first meeting.
Hi Rachel! And yes Sal, I wrote that out like an hour ago! haha
That's so good to hear, Kyle, and I love your enthusiasm! Congrats on a successful meet up! There's another meet up that Sal is hosting in Denver, Co. next week.
Check out Facebook page for the deets: http://www.facebook.com/home.php?ref=home#/ireport
@davidw it really was. It was a good time!
@everyone -- Jessica's user name is jellis. unfortunately she doesn't have a staff badge so it might be a little harder to pick her out. but we'll figure it out
@Katie, thanks for the plug.
Hello all, awsome news KyleHD! I hope we get a great turn out like yours.
@everyone...Hi there!!
Can we start asking Jessica questions now or do we have some house cleaing to do?
@Salsteels, everyone -- Let's go ahead and start with questions for Jessica to make sure we get them all in. We can take care of any housekeeping at the end.
Hi Davidseaman,
I work on international stories mainly. I am always looking for iReports that tell a good story with global appeal.
You are right though, we should have a coming up list on the assignment page.
@jellis...what's your favorite topic to cover for CNN?..politics, entertainment, current events......???
@all and Jessica: I joined iReport while living in Vienna last summer and it was CNN International that got me hooked, so thank you Jessica and your team.
While we are talking International, I would like to see a standing assignments for "Saving our Planet". When I went to post my "Cool Globe" report this morning I couldn't find anything to post it under, so I just picked CNN Report?!
@Kyle I'm so excited that your meetup was a success! iReporters coming together = really inspiring
@jellis...Jessica...do you look at every iReport?
@Jessica, do you think a show like iReport for CNN would work well in the US market?
@jellis...what inspired you to come up with iReport?
@Kyle..can't wait to see your collaborations with your new friends...good job!
Three cheers for @KyleHD's meetup
Afternoon everyone
Welcome Jessica!
@MelissaF Wow! You are on a roll!
Jessica, Sal bring up iReport for CNN, we've been talking lately here in the iReport Blog and I think a lot of us would like more interaction, would you ever consider letting iReporters host iReport for CNN?
@jellis...I would love to see an Americanized iReport show on a weekly basis...
@JessicaEllis: Do you like italian food and are you single? ;)
Just kidding, just being playful :)
I gotta leave but everyone enjoy your day...
Heya everyone!
@MelissaF
My favorite topics to cover are cultural - I believe as an international producer it is important to show veiwers other places and people around the world.
@Kyle...I love that idea...let us host segments...yeah!!
@ANAV um, wrong online forum dude
@ANAV thanks for the flyby Maverick.
@Salsteels - YES!! I think the iReport For CNN show should be shown in the U.S.!!!
@MelissaF I know that would be! We could dance and sing too! That's always fun!
@Everyone Hello. Hope everyone is having a naked day. :) Glad to see everyone in the round table today! whats up?
:) J.Son
@Jessica, Also, what lens for your DSLR do you like to have handy?
I love that CNN International has given us the opportunity to make so many friends around the world.
hi kisses to all
Hi J.Son!
@jellis..now you got a badge so we can see you better...lol
@Kyle...too much caffeine I guess this morning
@Henry...hey didn't I just talk to you??
@everyone...can't stay long..working on a garage sale for this Saturday...lots of work...fyi..I will be dropping off the grid for the next month due to the fact I am moving, getting my kids ready for school, and me too!...ohh and I got into the Live Radio Production at Cal State Fullerton and will be producing my own show every week there!! It's hard to get in, but with my experience with CNN they were happy to let me in...thanks guys and gals!!
Hi zdan!
Thanks, jellis, I'll keep an eye out for international-y stories in NYC. Are there more health care assignments coming up, guys?
I think we need to really scrutinize this, and sound off on it, discuss it, thoroughly vet it... it's very expensive and will definitely change the way of life here in America (for better or worse).
Also, davidw, I've noticed the quality of comments on the site has improved dramatically recently. Not sure if you guys are working behind the scenes to make that so, but glad to see smarter people on the site. (And most of the trolls gone)
@MarieSager - Hi there, thank you for your comment.
I completely agree with you that we should have a
regular "Saving our Planet" assignment.
For now to reach us you can put in the Ireport For CNN assignment.
@MelissaF -- Congratulations on all and good luck with the move.
@Melissa don't leave us forever! :(
great
@Everyone, why doesn't CNN have at least one prime time show that is all about international? I see more international news on iReport than on CNN-TV.
hi all
@jellis who do we have to convince to have an American version of iReport? Let's do it!!
Melissa that is great Congratulations!
@Ryn - Hi there, I couldn't agree with you more!
Replying to your comment: "I love that CNN International has given us the opportunity to make so many friends around the world."
@MelissaF, congrats with the new endeavors.
@all I can vouch for iReport for CNN International programming. I wish we could see the program in the US.
Davidw may I ask you about again the banned people that keep coming back the same day they are banned example bluebleue is back the same day why I can`t believe we still have this problems thanks Davidw
@Salsteels: I think Fareed Zakaria's show on Sundays does a lot of international stories... he gets great guests like the Dalai Lama, world leaders, etc.
Would be nice if his show had some kind of integration with iReport?
ble is zygote666 miacolpa etc and now i forgot her new name
@davidseaman -- I agree that the comments are getting a lot more interesting and less combative. That's a tribute to y'all as a community more than anything we've done. Thanks
@Jessica, What do you look for when working on a particular story? How do you give the story your specific signature?
Hey everyone!!!
@Salsteels - Hi again!
I love my Canon EF 100-400mm telephoto zoom lens its equipped with an Image Stabilizer. Its great for taking pictures in the wild... which is what I regularly do.
Hey EWillies1961, so awesome to see your quote in Rolling Stone magazine. Nice one!
http://www.ireport.com/blogs/ireport-blog/2009/07/23/ireporter-quoted-in-rolling-stone
@everyone...esspecially KyleHD...I am not leaving you forever...just going to reduce my submissions to special movies for Henry Hanks right now..I have my hands full for the next 4 weeks..plus I signed up for 15 units at school...which after the first week of meeting my professors I might drop 1 just because of kids and family...
@iReport staff..please stay in touch through email if anyone wants anything from me...I am around to fulfill your needs...I am just not going to do extra or daily submissions for right now...
I have garage sale signs and banners on my floor right now..whew..alot of work!!
@Katie
I was too. I saw the tweet checked to see who it wss and was like WOW. Thanks
Would you believe that Katie and I actually sit next to each other?
@iReport team - Would CNN be up to have iReporters host a CNN.com live show? Since iReport is online and a key way that people can connect the news online... what better way then to hire a few iReporters to be online corespondents?
We could utilize skype and other services to connect with other iReporters...
Just a thought to add on to what KyleHD said earlier.
PS I'm filming a TV show pilot in Vegas in Mid August... all about people's naked opinions on the hottest headlines of the day. with celebrity guests, musicians and comedians. I'm going to post it to iReport.
Hi Jessica nice meeting you
Hi Jessica, I think you might have missed my questions up above, so here it is again!
Jessica, while Sal brings up iReport for CNN, we've been talking lately here in the iReport Blog and I think a lot of us would like more interaction, would you ever consider letting iReporters host iReport for CNN?
@tyson
Thanks. I was shocked.
@MelissaF and @Kyle
I ALSO LOVE the idea of iReporters hosting segments!!
Let's discuss this more!!
Hey Jessica! Nice to meet you! Hey Tyson, Katie, DavidW, Kyle & Melissa........ I've been down but not out!! How is everyone??
@Kyle..I'll dance and sing with you anytime...lol
@EWillies1961: Congrats. Great quote!
@Jessica, my buddy has the same lens; however, I am a Nikon patriot. Canon makes some of the best lenses.
(we disagree on nearly everything, but I still respect your posts a lot)
@Jessica! YAY!
@Rajiim hi there! I'm good how are you?
Ewillis wowwwwww
@Rajiim...I was wondering about you...I emailed you and didn't hear anything...are you still going to the movies..Orphan...???
@Jessica! Nice to meet you!
@Hey Tyson, Katie, DavidW, Kyle & Melissa........ I've been down but not out!! How is everyone??
@davidseaman
Actually David we have agreed more than disagreed. It is just that you only remember our little spats. I cannot wait for us to get the debate additions because you are a great debator.
jellis, I like the hosting idea also.
Congrats..ewillis...how did that happen??
@jellis..about hosting segments..we can do this by skype..or do pre recorded segments and send them in...what do you think about that?
@jellis do you have any suggestions on just becoming a better citizen journalist in general?
@Melissa - Still doing movies. HP last week...
G-Force & The Ugly Truth this week! Missed Orphan.
@davidseaman..I agree with Ewillies...even though we may disagree...I love a good debator...I am one of your followers...lol
@KyleHD
HI Kyle, Yes I would be interested in having iReporter correspondents. The content should come first though. So if you have a good story, share it with me and lets talk.
@MelissaF The Rolling Stone writer was watching CNN and happened to see EWillis' video. It inspired him so much that he used it at the start of the article. Is that cool, or what?!
@Team iReport, will there be a new member of the team coming on board anytime soon?
@MelissaF
No clue... I found out from Katie's tweet.
@EWillies1961: Thanks! Yeah, me too, it will be nice to debate in real-time.
@Rajiim: Have you seen '500 Days of Summer' yet? It was really sweet
Hi @Rajiim,
Good to hear from you. Hope you are well. Seen any great flicks lately?
The whole iReporters hosting IRepot for CN is an Awesome idea!!!
@Jessica What do you look for when working on a particular story? How do you give the story your specific signature?
I would love to get a red tag how can I get one ?
Thanks, MelissaF.
I think a 3-way split screen would probably be fun, that or total chaos. :)
Hi everyone. This is my first roundtable. Interesting! I like the idea of collaborating. How would iReporters do that?
Hi there guys! Just checking in. Love the bears and gorilla up there. Can't stop looking at 'em.
@Jessica
Would you take a report on some reasons why Chavez and Morales of Bolivia rose up? Would that fit?
@jellis..you like cultural stories and America is full of culture...so I think for a first assignment is cultural diversity in your town..let iReporters go out and interview different types of groups..racial..political..service groups...ie
@Ewillies That is awesome, so your iReport's Cameron Crowe. (Movie: Almost Famous)
Hi Nicole!
@jellis, besides a global appeal & cultural matter, are there other aspects you look for on iReport.com?
@Katie..cool..which video topic?
@Tyson - G-Force was Funny as The Hangover Without the language! Even had a Hangover Star!! Going To See THE UGLY TRUTH tonight.
@Davidseaman - nope not yet man...Should see it soon.
I know I am screening Julie & Julia, Funny People & GI JOE here in the next few weeks!
Hi Nicole!
@MelissaF - You can prerecord segments and upload them to iReport.
@KyleHD
On being a better citizen journalist in general here are a few tips...
a.) Be aware of your surroundings - make sure you are safe.
b.) Don't over zoom.
c.) if you don't have a tripod - push your elbow against your body for support and a steadier shot.
d.) if its safe get closer.
e.) if you are going to do a stand up be aware of the noise around you...
f.) let your shots run for about 10 seconds.
g.) learn about backlighting
h.) be a keen pbserver of whats around you
be careful and remember to tell the story!!!
@Alisonv Just send an email to an iReporter and start throwing the ideas around.
@alisonv -- Welcome I'm glad you could make it. There are a lot of different ways people can collaborate on iReport.com.
We've had users contact other members of the community and ask them to send photos or videos for a project.
You could hold meetings for local iReporters and then figure out ways to work together on projects.
I'm sure there are other ways, that people here have tried.
@alisonv
I simply love your style on the healthcare issue. Please do a lot more from different angles. You are very persuasive.
@Nicole! Hey There.. Long time!! :-)
@Katie - What Video Topic???
Great question KyleHD, thx for the great tips jellis!
@Salsteels,
No new members of the official iReport staff in the immediate future, but we are always keen to add friends like @jellis across CNN platforms.
Who else would you like to hear from?
Thanks Jim!
Hello @Katie @Tyson @NSaidi - How have you been?
@jellis In regards to content and hosting a segment for iReport for CNN.. or another CMM.com Live show... I'm in the planning stage to do a show based in Las Vegas about people's naked opinions about the headlines. Naked in the sense of telling it how they see it, not hiding behind a mask or editing what they think, just giving there gut reaction to what's going on.
Is something like that a thing you would be interested in seeing? I'm going to talk to everyone from local Las Vegans to tourists to celebrities who headline on the World Famous Vegas Strip.
Yes, but how would it work as a collaboration. Can you upload it as one iReport?
Another question, would it be possible to post on Facebook the iReporters who are going to be featured in the iReport for CNN segment on TV? I've been very honored to have some of mine on there, but I never knew about it until after the fact. It would be fun to actually watch it (or at least call my Mom and tell her to watch it!)
@jellis...no I am talking about for a show for an americanized version of CNN iReport...this is a way iReporters can host the show...pre record them ourselves with a script or host them through SKYPE..that's what I was talking about..great tips..esspecially the one about the elbow..thanks!
Thank you Kyle!
@EWillies1961
Do you live in Bolivia or Venezuela?
A personal perspective or first hand account would be interesting from someone living in the area.
Just hear say or a rant -- a one-sided story is not journalism... so perhaps it could be part or a piece of a story.
Hey there Melissa, David, Rajiim!
Rajiim, you're a featured iReporter at cnn.com/ireport last time I checked. :) I'm really proud of the work you've been doing!
I Was About to mention Skype. I'mworking on something now that requires Skype! Trying to get audience reaction to a few blockbuster film from Singapore!!!
@alisonv -- We're working on better ways to showcase iReporters, who are used on TV. Unfortunately, we don't always know about them until after the fact.
It is important to us to let everyone know when their stories are used.
@Tyson, glad that Jessica is here. Really pumped. I would like to have anyone camera persons, especially talking about their experience switching from SD to HD. Also, Final Cut Editors since that is what I do to make a living, I would love to here how they roll with the big deadlines.
@alisonv...I agree that's a great idea!
@davidw...I know that we talked about notification months ago of when our stuff is being used on TV so we can record it or tell our friends to watch...
FYI...I didn't know I was on TV sobbing over MJ until I saw a small link on the MJ assignment page...that was great!
NakedBoy! Howdy. I like the "naked" philosophy you mention. LOL
@Nicole- Thanks!! I heard about it but never knew where to look!! :-)
Thanks David
EWillies, thank you! That's very kind of you. I feel really passionate about it because I was a kind of "gatekeeper" in healthcare for 15 years and saw all the big holes in the safety net of our system. Now I live in Italy and, though it isn't a system I'd model ours on, nobody here ever worries about going bankrupt. I'll keep those reports coming. You, too!
@alisonv
Hi there -
We do have a facebook page for the iReport For CNN show. It is a seperate facebook page.
http://www.facebook.com/iReportforCNN
that's the url
We try to post what topics and who will be featured.
Keep in touch with me and all of us on facebook.
We are on Twitter as well.
twitter.com/ireportforcnn
@davidw or tyson...any word on an iPhone app or going HD for iReport??
@jellis
No I am Latin American and have studied a lot of the issues down in Latin America. I was not going to rant but provide something like a causal perspective since I believe sometimes we look at all these guys as simply bad or good.
If you were to have someone tell you your iReport was used on TV, how would you prefer to have this notification given? What would it look like? I'm just throwing that out there. We've batted around a couple ideas here. I'm thinking, the simpler and more consistent, the better.
@Nicole- I guess they moved it because I don't see me!! lol
I hear from people they see me online, on tv, but I never see anything hardly except my post!! lol
@Jellis Do you have a specific signature/style when you are doing a story? Something that differentiates you from other journalists?
@nicole..either on your comment page inside the iReport from the person who uses it or a quick email..that would surfice
@nsaidi, phone call or text I think would be easiest. Even if it was automated.
@Salsteels
Yeah! I'm a Canon girl!! I won't hold it against you for being a Nikon Man!! J/k :-) I have many Nikon friends :-)
@MelissaF -- The CNN.com iPhone app is scheduled to launch this summer. You can sign up to get a notification here http://www.cnn.com/mobile/iphone/
@Rajiim Actually, we just switched it out about an hour ago. Sorry about that! (You were up there for a good week or two.) We'll make an effort to let iReporters know when they're featured on that page.
@Nicole- A Text Msg or E-mail for Story Notification Use!
Prefer Text Msg since I'm not always with my Computer!!
@nsaidi I think the "On CNN" is a pretty good indicator. Now an email that tells us specifically where it was used, well, that is not a big issue for me. That’s just my 2.
@MelissaF, in regards to the HD iReports, from what I've seen you can upload an HD iReport to our system and it should come in OK as long as the file size is under 100MB. What we don't have is an HD player, and that is something worth looking into for a future update.
@MarieSager
Me too!!
You can watch CNN International if you have Comcast in the U.S. and a certain package.
However you can watch the show online.
go to cnn.com/ireportforcnn
ALL of our programs are there and archived
@Katie- Figures!! I Got told earlier this week but didn't know where to look!! lol
@nicole..you mean iReport can accept CODEC 264 now?
Jellis, Thanks. I'm connected with you on Facebook and Twitter, though I'm not much of a twitterer!
Nsaidi, An email would be great. Or a post on Facebook. I'm not complaining, really, because I'm always delighted when you use my videos. I think all of us would just enjoy watching it. If it's on the website we usually know because the hits start shooting up!
@jellis -- I didn't know you can watch it online. I'll have to start watching.
This is a sample of collaborating on a iReport
Film Festival
http://www.ireport.com/docs/DOC-112972
@Davidw, well that is awesome. Have you seen the phone I use? I even did an iReport on how fantastic my phone really is.
@david...just signed up for the update..thanks!
@everyone...got to go..everyone have a great day!!
Jellis, I'm both--Canon for video and Nikon for stills!
@STAFF - What MAC video Format do you accept? I tried to upload a HD Story in m4v format and it rejected! I have to convert my stories to AVI to upload. That is a royal pain!
@MelissaF -- Let me check on that. I need to gather more info about specific codecs.
@Salsteels
Well perhaps because I am an artist first (I paint as well as photograph) I like to find the emotion in the scene.
I like stong composition and cropping out of my viewfinder what is distracting.
I also like to change my vantage point. I like to get on the ground and shooting up... especially with wildlife.
I like shooting faces tight - so you can see their individuality.
I can go on and on !! :-)
in Reply to... Do you have a specific signature/style when you are doing a story?
Something that differentiates you from other journalists?
@jellis. Many thanks for your answers. Bye
@Rajim -- Mov and AVI work for sure. I think that m4v's are a proprietary format, so I'd avoid those.
Thanks Ryn
@Salsteels -- That is cool. I saw an article last week about a St. Petersberg Times photographer, who went out and reported a story with her iPhone. The photos were amazing.
http://blogs.tampabay.com/photo/2009/07/iphone-photography.html
@Rajiim, Staff, oh no! It's Team iReport. Staff, that is something you get from not washing your feet correctly!
@MarieSager - Bye - nice chatting with you!!!
Rajiim, I just convert mine to Quicktime on my mac. I export it (expert settings - broadband)
Bye Marie
Keep them coming in!
@Jellis Sorry for being a nag on the question, just thought it was mucho importante. Having your answer gives me a better sense on your journalistic creativity.
@KyleHD - I am interested to see your iReporter meet-up in Chicago.
Perhaps we can feature this in an upcoming show.
@KyleHD - Congrats on hosing the meet-up. I wish I could have joined you and the other Chi-towners!
You are not a nag!!
Thanks @Salsteels for your questions!!!
@jellis, we'd love for you guys to come and check us out! We really have a great group of people that joined us and I think we'll have lots of good stuff coming up soon!
By the way, iReport team, just want to say again what a great job you did with the Iran uprising. It was citizen journalism at its best.
@Ryn -- Thanks for finding Trevor's iReport. That's one of the ones I was talking about, but I couldn't find it.
@Davidw, yeah, iPhone and photoshop. Nice pictures.
@KyleHD - Do you post the meetings or videos on your iReport page? If so I would like to take a look. Thanks
@zdan you would have loved it! Next time you come back here to visit, we'll schedule a meeting so you can come for sure!
Welcome davidw!
M4V is an Apple Quicktime format that is somewhat standard, but I'm not sure about support on iReport.com. I'll check. If a file doesn't go through, don't forget to also check file size and quality/compression.
The best format for our system is .mov in most cases, and other standard Web formats. I'll look and see if something is holding up .m4v files.
A regular at our roundtable is not here today, but for good reason. If you haven't been following @ChrisMorrow's iReports in the past 24 hours, she is iReporting on this weekend's San Diego Comic-Con (125,000+ strong in attendance). If you (or someone you know) plans to be there, iReport away! :)
@Everyone, Anyone coming to Colorado, shoot me an email. Also, just letting people know, family and I are thinking about moving, so if your city is awesome, might shoot you an email!
@ZDan & Allison......I Use IMovie To edit. I will Export them I guess. Having to convert to avi just plain sucks!! I'll upload MOV files! Thanks!!
@alisonv Thanks! We're really proud of iReporters' Iran coverage - their photos and stories really helped steer CNN's coverage and even led it at times. We couldn't do it without you guys!
@everyone -- I've heard from a few people planning to hold iReport gatherings in their towns.
If you decide to do one, please let us know and we'll post it on our Facebook page http://www.facebook.com/ireport
katie thanks I will, i have placed a lot of my personal life and no red tags I have been here since feb 2008 and just one red tag thanks katie
And contact me if you are coming to Rome! Although I'll be in Dallas for the last 2 weeks of August.
@davidseaman and @Salsteels
I agree with davidseaman - Fareed Zakaria's show is extremely good to watch for international coverage!!
@Nicole - When zi first started I could almost swear i uploaded m4v, then your server got upgraded and then no more!
@Jellis, yesterday was actually our first meeting, so we're still in the process of getting everything together! We just created a facebook group last night, and people are going to be posting some of the stuff we discussed in there. It is a closed group just because we have phone numbers and what not to be posted and they prefered it be private, but I can send you the link and allow you access to that if you'd like. Or you can e-mail me Kyle_HD@yahoo.com
Rachel, I noticed that. I was very proud of you! I think people in that situation must feel how important it is to have an outlet at CNN
@Jellis might make you mad but I watch the BBC. It has served my family well for 40+ years. Fareed is a cool chap.
All right guys, stepping out to go work on a project, thanks for the great suggestions.
Thanks for coming, Jellis
Rajiim, I use it too. It is simple to export it to Quicktime you just have to play with the settings a little. I find the best are "expert settings" and then choose broadband.
@KyleHD-Where does your group meet?
@EVERYONE - if your every in KY drop a email and let me know.
@Nsaidi, project. Hmmm, like checking out all the cool things to do at Comic-Con, the gig is up Nicole!
@Rajiim We met at Panera Bread in downtown Chicago yesterday, but I the location will change. And I might be in Kentucky next week!
@Team iReport, any iReport assignments about NCAA Football starting up?
Ok - well I have to get back to work now. I am working on a future segment on Nelson Mandela and another on Drought and Flood resistant crops that can help developing countries.
Please keep those great iReport stories coming.
Remember - Good exposure, a Compelling story and strong composition!!
Be a keen observer of what is happening around you.
Find the emotion in the scene.
Shoot tight and wide... wide for your establishing shots, get medium shots of your key players and tight shots of faces!!
Have fun, Have a great shoot, be careful and tell a great story!!!
We'll be in touch!
Take care.
@larena - We don't approve stuff for air unless we think that our producers would be able to use them on CNN TV or on CNN.com. The best way to get something approved for CNN is to share original stories about what's going on in your world. Or to share your thoughts on how an issue will impact your life (and submitting it on video doesn't hurt).
@Jellis, before we end, thank you for taking the time out of your busy day to speak with us. I was truly a pleasure. Keep up the good fight. My family and I will be watching your work!
@Jellis -- thank you so much for your time and advice. We really appreciate it.
Thanks Jellis. Thanks iReport team!
@KyleHD - Cool Let me know when!!
Thanks so much @jellis and everyone for a fantastic roundtable discussion. I really enjoyed the conversation!
See you next week!
@everyone -- Our hour is up, but if anybody has any other questions or issues that we haven't covered today, I can stick around for a while.
thanks for coming, everyone! today's roundtable was awesome - you guys had great questions for @jellis.
@Davidw - I have question..... CNN Radio how do i get my stuff aired??
David, just a quick question...I've used a lot of the music from the toolkit. Any chance of more stuff being put out there?
Thank you Jessica! I hope you can come again!
@Davidw, I have uploaded some videos and my audio seems to be a bit off. My original file sound great, levels are good. How does it sound to you?
@alisonv - Where is the music?? Could you send me some?
Thanks Jessica for being here!
It's in the toolkit on the iReport page. It's very cool because you can use it without having problems with copyrights. Some of it is nice, but I've used the best ones on various videos.
@everyone -- I do want to let you know about an experiment we want to try next week in the blog.
I'd like to try an iReport week ahead calendar to find out what stories are on your radar that might not be on ours.
For example, we got iReports on a tattoo festival in California and the opening of the Paris plage. Both were cool stories that we hadn't heard about.
We'll post a blog post on Monday and you can let us know about things that are coming up in the comments. It might take a while to work the details out, but it could be cool.
@Salsteels -- I'll give it a listen after the meeting and get back to you.
Nice to meet you Jessica
Come back and visit with us!
@alisonv - I have found some FREE music beds / Production Music online. Google FREE PRODUCTION MUSIC BEDS you will find alot. Copyright and royality free.
That would be fun, David. I like having some advance notice on projects because I like to edit the videos and it takes some time.
@alisonv -- I'm sure we will update the music at some point, but I don't know when.
@Davidw Thank you kind sir, and for putting a plug for CCJ on facebook. Folks, keep up the great work. Nicole, enjoy Comic-Con! See you on the site!
Cool, Rajiim. Thanks
Hey Ryn.....Didn't see your posts!
@Rajiim -- We let CNN Radio know about the stories we have approved for use. I'm not exactly sure how they decide what to use.
Ok, thanks, David. See you all next time!
@Davidw - well I uploaded audio from a few movie review videos Already Tagged ON CNN but they didn't catch it.
@everyone -- This was a great meeting! Thanks for giving Jessica such a warm welcome.
We'll talk to you next week.
Take care.
@Davidw - MelissaF told me about it and suggested I do that. She has been doing that exact same thing and her video & audio were both used. Didn't know if there was a tag I needed or someone to notify.
@everyone - Just a quick hello to everyone... sorry I missed the discussion. I'm fairly new to iReport and look forward to joining next week. I'm traveling quite a bit so my schedule is tight over the next few weeks.
@KyleHD - I'm back in Chicago on Monday and will connect with you soon... can't wait to meet you. Currently, working the Grand Prix at the Autobahn Country Club in Joliet, IL. I'm an SCCA race official and cover races at Road America, Blackhawk, Autobahn, MidOhio and Nelson Ledges. I have some great ideas for stories relating to club car racing and pro events. Talk soon!
@LizWhitney Awesome! Can't wait to have to join us!
This probably will not pass censorship. Since CNN steadfastly refuses to accept comments on any but the most perfectly correct topics, usually with no dissent, this topic is another example of CNN's soft censorship. When you have a CNN reporter (Tony Harris) calling the POLICE COMMENTS INCENDIARY but not allowing for any controversy in the President's comments, CNN is showing more than bias. CNN is approaching bigotry. I understand that only the censors will probably read this.
