This is an open forum for us to get to know each other better, so you're welcome to bring up any topic you like.
We'll open comments at 3 p.m. ET and you can follow and join in the discussion there.
Hey dave
Good Afternoon one and all.
Hello Hello from Sunny San Diego. :)
Here's an issue that I've heard and seen more and more rumblings about that is about to become a rather BIG issue, in my bias opinion.
I've received over 200 complaints in the last month about what truly appears to be "Extreme Favoritism" practiced by those who are part of the CNN editing team for iReport.
In fact, it's no longer a "back of the room" noise issue, rather, many of the remarks I've received have a great deal of anger behind them and it's getting worse.
Going through hundred upon hundreds of posted reports myself along with 4 other editors/reviewers for the Ireport Awards, it's my opinion this is indeed happening and is becoming a huge problem. All 5 of us are in agreement, and all of us have had great success with the editors. However, this doesn't sit with us well. All of us are now wondering why the editors have allowed this and why they are in the practice of such "Extreme Favortism"? And, do you think that is hapening at all?
Hi everyone,
I have an announcement before we get started.
We are going to have a special iReport roundtable session on Monday, October 26th, at 12:30 p.m. ET.
Hi all! I made it!
Good afternoon everyone
Chris you are a star!
Hello everyone, how's it going? It's great to see you.
davidw how mysterious!
Learned a long time ago to sit back an listen and much can be learned. Have a few questions but will ask them later if time. A “newbee” here to these meetings but didn’t want to drive your crew nuts with emails. Also that’s for the feature on the tattooing! Very cool title.
Thanks ireporttwo. I think we all are stars :)
Hey gang
@TheWarden.... hmm, well, I've been in the I Report offices and I can tell you, they look at many, many i reports.
Welcome WausauFamily to ireports!
Hey WausauFamily, we were all a little amazed to find out you used to do tattoos.
Hey guys, What's up with 12:30 meeting?
Hi all!
lol.I know. A lot of people are. oh the stories nsaidi!
Hey everyone!
Do comments update automatically?
adriana71: I can only imagine.
@TheWarden Dave's working on a response to your comment. Anyone else with a question?
Hello, guys.. How's everyone doing?
@ireporttwo: you should hit your refresh key to see the new comments
Hello, all,
Glad to be part of this community!
Hi all in blue!
@ireporttwo Unfortunately not. You'll need to refresh the page to see new comments.
@TheWarden -- Thank you for bringing that sentiment to our attention. I'm really sorry that people feel that way.
Let me start by saying that we get a lot more iReports than we can possibly vet every day so we have to focus on the ones that we think will be of the most interest to the community and to CNN producers.
There are a lot of iReporters who consistently do really good work and we have built relationships with. It is easier for us to approve those videos because we've done the background work in the past.
That said, we really seek out the best iReports on the site each day.
Its interesting to see what is considered news and highlighted. What role does the media play in good news stories as with bad. Problem is that there are probably too much bad taking place and that is what pushes out the good. What a tough job it must be to decide, at the moment, what is newsworthy at that time. I think ireporting does an excellent job with these stories.
Thanks jeff
@thewarden -
Where did you get the idea to do the iReport Awards?
and how is it going?
It's a challenge I'm sure.
Thought it would be a good idea to take note as some issues tend to fester and become larger than they should, for what it's worth to the crew.
@TheWarden -- We also are more likely to be able to approve people's iReports if they have included a phone number where we can reach them, instead of just an email address and they have biographical information and an avatar photo on their profile so we have a bit of an idea of who we're dealing with.
Although I've been an iReporter for more than a year, I've been most active in the last 2 to 3 weeks and have been delighted to have a couple of my iReports vetted - so I feel like the editors gave this newbie a chance!
I also have heard the rumble Warden. Is it true
Hi everyone.
CNN iReport producers are eager to feature your work, and while there’s no guarantee your iReport will get the "On CNN" stamp, the ones that do share some common traits. iReports that are featured typically:
*Are tied to the news of the day
*Provide a perspective or angle on a story that isn’t available anywhere else
*Include the components of a good story -- the who, what, why, where and when
A few final, but important, tips: If you want your story to be featured, make sure that all the content in your iReport, including text and images, is your own. Also, please add a phone number to your private profile so CNN producers can call you with questions. Oh, and upload an avatar image.
@stockard02 -- Welcome, did you see Rachel's story based on your iReport? Here's the link http://www.cnn.com/2009/LIVING/10/22/dogs.irpt/index.html
I would like to see behind-the-scenes what your process is. I can't imagine how you go through everything.
hey davidw - that brings up an important point
When I realized my old cell # was listed, I edited my profile to include my new one. However, when an editor needed to reach me, she said my old number was still listed. I was just lucky that she emailed me to try to make contact. So, what can we do if editing one's profile doesn't seem to work?
Sorry, correction on the dog story: stockard02 isn't a first-time iReporter, but she is a newcomer!
@stockard02 @WausauFamily I'm glad to hear that you've had good "newbie" experiences, so to speak. For folks who are new to iReport.com, what do you think helps them feel welcome in the community? How can we help?
Hi all
Chris: Actually was going through many old reports -- hundreds in fact -- and realize how great so many were.
I thought it would be nice to honor those who have done such a great job and all their hard work.
The response has been far better than I had predicted and I think it will end up being a lot of fun for most.
Sometimes I think you just get lucky with the timing. The first iReport I ever submitted, I got a call from Henry less than an hour after submitting it.
@adriana71 -- I can't tell you what the 12:30 roundtable is, but you'll know by Monday.
I hate to be so secretive, but it's a secret ... shhhhh.
Yes, davidw,
I am so excited about that! I loved that What if assignment because it gave us the chance to feature the good work people do that often goes unnoticed! Jim Wilmoth and his dog Bailey are super, and I think animal therapy is a creative way to make an meaningful difference.
personally.... its the communication that has made our experience positive
Questions like what is public and who can be shown without permission
News today across our state is on where this vacine is
We should have a Sally Field Award: "You like me. You really like me." lol
@thewarden
Interesting! My iReports are alive for about 24hours and then forgotten. I like going back and seeing all the great iReports from everyone. Thanks for that!
@davidw
Give us a hint... You know we are addicted puppies to the platform.
Good to see CNN inquiring about these vaccines that are “in the mail”. People here want to know. What does a ireporter do with updates? Submit new reports or update one in general? We hate bucking a system, because it seems to come back to bite you, but we are turning the heat up with this issue. Where are the vaccines people in Wisconsin want to know. Thanks David for the call today too. We are pretty concerned, having young who are at risk. Was there a issue about accuracy? Health Department has been ready for a week. All local media is asking the same question. Sorry to feel so strongly about this. I don’t like stepping out there but some things I have a hard time not putting a little fire on issues that we are passion about.
nsaidi
I think your recent story assignments have been pretty inviting and encourage us to submit stories that you wish to highlight. I mean, the story assignments you've been making are accessible to lots of folks all over the place, so it gives someone a chance. And, as iReporters develop persuasive storytelling skills, I think they will catch the attention of editors.
@Ewillies1961 I was so hoping he would slip and just type it. If I asked.
I do do a lot of cut and paste and only because I have Lympehdema in my arm due to B.C. So I was dissapointed when i made a special trip to a old silent movie star's house and only got about 4 comments. So I basically wasted my time.
@WausauFamily Our health team has been looking for stories of people who are having trouble finding the H1N1 vaccine. I saw your iReport -- it would be great to hear your concerns on video or see photos of your grandchildren if you're comfortable with that.
As always, original content is most likely to get on CNN!
Tyson: Geez you're the old man of IR aren't you? LOL.
These things you mention I believe are more or less known. However, even though I truly resisted accepting this might be happening, I couldn't help but have to agree.
It's only natural that favortism leach into the mix in any organization, noting it is a good thing in my opinion.
I have no problem with it,I've been more than lucky. In fact, at least half of what got the CNN mark of mine I personally would not have given it to.
So, at the end of the day, I think it does exist to some extent. Again, for what it's worth.
@EWillies1961 -- We're sworn to secrecy. It's going to be cool though.
so does anyone know how to effectively update one's phone number in the profile?
David: Do you have any way to compile demographics on viewing, such as location, discovery method, etc?
I wonder why some of my stuff gets 1,000's of hits, and some of them get less than 100. You Tube has a feature called "Insights" that gives you that data.
@adriana71
May be can gang up on him and the entire team! I would say strike but we are love being a part of this forum. That is why they've got us :) :).
Thats alright. Thanks
SEO - I am still confused about SEO.
if you bing my name: Chris Morrow
and look in the videos the ireport videos do not appear, but the cnn one's do. Any advice for the tags?
@stockard02 -- I'll email the number that I have and see if the right one has shown up.
@ireporttwo I know the feeling, sometimes I spend hours getting a story or sound just right. And then it doesn't get the CNN tag or no body makes any comments. I try to take it as practice makes perfect.
@davidw
thank you!
@adriana71
I feel the same way.
Hello everyone!!
@ireporttwo and @adriana71: I have found that if you comment on other people's stuff it can draw them to your reports and you will get more comments.
I'm still looking for my refresh button. Guess I have to fix my toolbar
katie. Thanks for the health team staying up on this. Seen lots of coverage
@adriana71 -- That is the hardest part of our job. I hate it when we get an amazing story and we just don't have an opportunity to approve it.
We are working on some new ways to highlight the best iReport material so more people will be able to see it.
@ireporttwo, @adriana71 I'm sure it can be frustrating if things don't get the "On CNN" stamp or views you expect, but I hope you iReport about something because you're passionate about it, not just for the clicks. I hope you enjoy reporting, photographing, investigating, etc. and get a lot out of the experience no matter what!
@ChrisMorrow
@adriana71
Sometimes you think you have a winner. The words are right (to you), the tone is right (to you), and the subject is good (to you). But.... You get barely any views. It is humbling sometimes. Hey, there are a lot of us... And that is good.
just frustrated
jeff some people don't like when ohters do that. I most of the time ask permission. Or if I know the person won't mind I'll do it. Ya never know if someone had their cup of coffee.
@ChrisMorrow To be honest, I'm not thoroughly knowledgeable about Bing, but it apears that you have good placement on Google, which is arguably the gold standard for now. You definitely come up in a general search on Bing, and I'm guessing that since it's a new search engine, the video searches might work differently than on Google.
@jeffpickens Oh I do go through and make comments on other people i Reports.
I did a 7 minutes video on those who had a real problem finding a vaccine shot in the Miami area, 13 people in all.
In the end, I didn't think it would get any real attention, so instead I listed places where the shot could be found nationally and locally and erased the video coverage.
Being a Navy Vet, I got mine more than a month ago as the V.A. received it long before the public did.
@TheWarden ha! Yes I've been here since the beginning, (3+ years) and it's been fun watching iReport grow.
We're working as hard as ever to incorporate your submissions into CNN's newsgathering and programming at every opportunity, but I'll be the first to admit that we don't catch every great iReport.
If you ever feel we are overlooking something, please feel free to flag it my way. You can reach me at Tyson.Wheatley@cnn.com
@Staff...are you aware that companies from other countries call ireporters to vet their reports then the reporter (me) doesn't even get a CNN tag. This happened to me.
Thanks Warden. The voice of where is it is growing strong.
Could we kind of even out the pro Obama and against Obama reports that make it to the top. Sometimes the entire top is full of the against ones. One of each would be fine to me.
@TheWarden
Why not post anyway. It may have triggered someone else picking up that topic. Many other iReporters trigger my thoughts that I then comment on and then refer to.
@Katie and @davidw Oh I don't spend tooo much time fretting on it. I move on to the next topic of the day. The news cycle is forever in motion.
@nicole
I'm talking about the video search section of (google, bing, yahoo, etc.). iReport videos do not come up. But the CNN one's and the youtube one's do. Makes me wonder if I am putting in the wrong tags.
Tyson: I don't personally have anything, but will do so for those I feel did something truly interesting and timely. Thanks.
@TheWarden
The body of knowledge can never be too large.
@adriana71 You're telling me! The news cycle is exhausting sometimes and definitely plays a big role in what iReports are going to be featured on a day-to-day basis.
@KCRep - I am not aware of that. Could you send me an email about that? Could you let me know what iReport it was.
If they called you, it was probably a CNN producer in another bureau. He/she probably forgot to hit the ON CNN stamp.
Please send me as much detail as you can and I'll get back with the producer.
My email is david.williams@turner.com
Hmmm. Never knew these roundtables existed. Interesting stuff, folks.
What are best ways to do updates? Add to a report already submited or file another report? And are only video presentations desired?
@ChrisMorrow hey Chris! I'm going to pass along your question to Topher, CNN.com's SEO. Stand by
Thanks for the heads up KC
@SmokeInDaEye -- Welcome.
@tyson -
Thanks Tyson. I have other seo questions too.
Welcome Smoke! Feel free to jump in.
Chris: They still have tag issues they are working out, part of the new algorithm I understand.
I knew those people when they had only 10 people working for them in 99, tried to invest, they didn't take the money...LOL.. they knew they had a good thing. There's a girl named Mary -- their first marketing rep -- that I'll call and get you your answers.
SmokeInDaEye did you see my report on the roundtable meeting.
@David....It was a lady from the London office, it's been quite awhile, the original report was not written by me though, but the review for the company that can be found online has my full name on it. Google Alheizmers (sp) GPS Shoes and I'm all over it.
@jeffpickens -- The biggest reason that some iReports get lots of hits and others don't is their placement on the CNN.com page.
That makes a huge difference in traffic.
Davidw did you see my suggestion I sent you?
@thewarden
Thanks.
Good afternoon.
Thanks @davidw and @nsaidi. One tech question, why doesn't the "on CNN" stamp remain when the video is embedded onto another site?
Hi everyone!
Any progress on blocking the repetitive "unclaimed" uploads?
@WausauFamily You can edit the text and info on your project, which is a good way to update the general information about your story. You can also post a new story (video or photos or both) to provide a multimedia update. You can even go back and link it back to your first one if you want. We love it when people keep us updated on their progress!
@davidw Every once while I get lucky, and a lot of people come. And I don't have the CNN tag. It just makes grin. heheh
EWillies1961: I have taken on such a huge task with this IR Awards, I just didn't have it in me to do more. Next time.
I've got about 40 minutes of stuff for "Latino in America" that I've yet to edit through, I'm not sure I'll be able to do that either.
I had a technical question. I was delighted to have my video used in the interactive on common ground. But I could never see any of the videos from the interactive. I could hear the audio for each one, but not the video. I have a Mac. Could that have been it? I've never had trouble with the other iReports.
Welcome Smoke!
@Margot707 hmm unclaimed is just that unclaimed. ugh
Hi EWillies!
@ireporttwo -- I think so, but haven't had a chance to reply. Why don't you go ahead and ask it here?
Do you ever hire iReporters? ;)
@SmokeInDaEye great question. That one actually has us stumped. We'll have to follow up with our development team on that one and get back to you.
One bit of good news - and that new video players are coming soon, with a much better embed ability.
are they seen with updates and then reconsided for more people to provide information? On old ones?
@alisonv You likely need to upload the latest version of Flash to view the Common Ground interactive (and any others on CNN.com) -- it shouldn't make a difference what computer or browser you're using.
@Margot707 -- the unclaimed iReports are primarily uploads from mobile devices. We are working on a better mobile phone solution, but the unclaimed iReports will probably never really go away because we don't want to shut out people who don't have access to computers.
Gotta go. A story on my husband getting the h1n1 nasal.
Happy to be part of iReport. Thanks!
David hope it doesn't cause a ruckus. On you tube and facebookthere is a way to block people who just are not productive in conversation and would rather do name calling. I would like to just block them from entering my reports. Maybe I could have a 3 time warning button and if it continues block.
@alisonv The updates are free. You can get them here: http://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/downloads.html
Hope that helps!
I won't be able to stay around but just wanted to say wazzup y'all
Wow
Hi @DesireG! Thanks for stopping by!
Hi @DesireG
Hi DesireG good to see you!
Cool. Thanks @tyson. iReport has certainly grown since I posted my first story a couple years ago.
Eventually you all need to consider iReport channels (travel, business, news, pets, food, etc.). I personally could knock out a ton of food content.
Hi Desire! Looking forward to some of your work!
(And a special congratulations to FredThorne, getting married today!)
Katie, I'll try that. I think I am updated. I don't have any trouble with any other video on CNN. Just that particular interactive. It doesn't work on my PC either. I'll try that update and see how it goes. Hi Desireg!
@WausauFamily -- You can update the text of an iReport at any time. If it's already been approved for CNN, the stamp will come off until we can re-read the text and make sure it's okay.
You can't add video or photos to the existing post for technical reasons.
However, if you want to upload additional photos and videos you're welcome to do a new post.
Videos or photos are both great. Obviously video is more useful to our TV colleagues, but photos can be a big help to our Web folks.
You can upload up to 10 photos and videos in each iReport.
People who get their accounts pulled can still upload anonymously and turn up as "unclaimed." It should be pretty easy to put all of these into a bucket to be previewed by staff before clogging the boards with someone's photos from a birthday party at the mall.
@WausauFamily I want to make sure I understand correctly what you're asking. Are you asking what happens after a story is updated?
Hey Desire.
@ChrisMorrow
CNN's SEO, Topher Kohan, looked at your stuff and you are taging things great.
The problem is with iReport and the search engines. He says that we are having a hard time getting iReport video to be indexed.
He is working hard on it and hopes to have if resolved soon.
IR CREW: So, Monday the 26th, sounds good.
For some reason I have this feeling I might be able to guess this one, but I'll have to wait and see. I'll post my thoughts just to make it interesting. LOL...
Whatever it is, I'll say "Thank You" beforehand. I have this curiousity as to how you got the idea, we'll see.
@TheWarden
Do it at your convenience man!
Davidw I know all the women get diamond rings. hehehe
hello all
@iReporttwo -- The block button isn't coming in the near future. I'm still leaning towards being against it, but we'll continue to consider it.
Just to know how it works... how often are the stars updated? I had my star again for about 2 days it seemed this week and now it's gone again. (I know...what a baby! But I LIKE my star!) I'm a pretty active iReporter, too!
Do any of you have any recommendations for royalty-free music one could use to enhance an iReport? I know there are some clips in the iReport Toolkit, but I'd like to have more variety. I do have Garage Band, but I am not a musician or composer. I want to spend my time shooting video and making stories, not on making my own music. But, I don't want to violate copyright. So, what options are there? Also, when music is ok for personal or education use but not for commercial use, does that mean one cannot use it on iReports or Youtube? Are they considered commercial use even if you're not getting paid personally?
@alisonv
Hi Alison. How is the schedule. Still real busy?>
yes... if on a post that once was not considered for news to being updated to a status where it provides more people with information? Where the story becomes news.
@davidw As much as I dislike nasty comments. I would prefer not to have a block button. What happens if the block me?
Davidw you will have us all guessing now...
I can't stop a old VCR from blinking 12:00 so all this is overload! We'll get use to it. Thanks everyone!
EWillies, I'm still busy, but I think this weekend will be better. Don't know if you got my last email.
Had fun doing the 30 second thing. Kind of a challenge to say something in that short a time period. Maybe we could go 60 or so...
@stockard There are several music tracks on Garage Band that don't require you to compose music. That's my favorite option. If you have friends who are musicians, you could ask them for permission to use their tunes. Original music is always a treat!
adriana you are never nasty. You are too sweet!
@stockard02
Roxio comes with nice canned music and I love editing with it.
@Katie - thanks! Off to a meeting. It's been nice chatting with all of you for the first time!
By the way, iR team, I like the "What if" assignments. I've seen some really interesting reports on there. They seem to strike a nerve (in a good way.)
@alisonv -- We are working on a recognition system that's better than the Superstar system that we have now. I don't have an ETA, but it's one of our top priorities.
WausauFamily: My pleasure.
thank you @EWillies1961!
adriana also it could be how a person would set up their profile. If they want the button they could have it. Would help with the people who are banned who constantly come back.
Thanks for dropping by stockard02!
OK, David. I know it is really silly to worry about something like that! I love iReporting, star or no!
So many different lens on life. So interesting.
@stockard02 regarding your question about hiring iReporters.
We haven't hired any iReporters on our staff, but we're aware of a handful of iReporters who've landed full-time media gigs.
Also, I'd be remiss not to mention our iReport internship.
http://www.ireport.com/blogs/ireport-blog/2009/10/14/spring-cnn-ireport-internship
@WausauFamily First off, @davidw did a wonderful job of explaining how the story editing process works.
Personally, I think if you have a big update to a story and you think it's warranted, you might want to consider uploading a new story. That can make it easier for us to find it and if you have news to share, you should share it! But you can always go back and edit an old story to provide updates.
Is there a story you're looking to edit or update, or a project you want to maintain over time?
@alisonv -- I agree on "What if." katie did a great job shepherding that project and it's been really inspiring to see how iReporters interpreted the assignments.
Katie, I didn't know that about Garage band. I'll have to try it.
hey guys! looks like i missed a lot! i'll have to catch up, but at least wanted to say hi before everyone left!
Cool Tyson.
Gotta run. I'm cooking on the world's largest grill this weekend so should have some fun video early next week.
Hey Kyle
@KyleHD Hi! You've certainly been busy lately. Glad you could stop by!
That was a very cool project katie. It makes a difference no matter how small or big the actions were. Seen some really special things from the "what if project"
@Smoke Gotta say, I love the world's largest everything. You planning to iReport that? Hope so. All I can say is, get in mah belly!
@alisonv -- It's not silly at all. We don't want people like you, who do great work to feel bad (even if it's just 'bummer, where's my star'). That's been sort of an unexpected negative consequence of the superstars.
Looking forward to it, @Smoke!
I haven't even seen that yet. I saw a heart wrenching testimonial on You Tube of a WWII vet who has a gay son and said that he (the veteran) had fought in that terrible war for the freedom of ALL Americans, including his son. It was really moving.
@ireporttwo Thank you so much.
Question for ireport staff. Do you sometimes follow the comments and get a giggle going?
My comment was to Katie on the Veterans' voice thing.
David, I think I'm pretty silly saying "Bummer, where's my star", but tbanks for saying otherwise! ;-)
@ireporttwo Of course! ;)
Thank you nsaidi. The only one we are concerned about is where these promised H1N1 vaccines are. Talked to the health department and they too are angry over this. I really dislike having to be a strong voice at times but can't stop from standing up for the right things. sorry..
We want to see the day in the lives of you guys.
@ireporttwo Sure, we're a jolly bunch, lots of laughing and giggling and pillowfights and ... never mind.
Hey,I forgot to tell you. I'm going to NASA Tweet up for the launch of the shuttle on Nov 16th.
@nsaidi & @katie hi! i have been busy, but I think I may have some good ireports coming up soon! And although I haven't posted much lately, I've still been helping out other iReporters with their videos, so I'm still here, just seceretly! :)
alison I saw an article with that video on Huffington Post yesterday.
:) There's so much to respond to :) Awesome. But I better get going. Someone asked about music. If you have a MacBook there are endless loops that they provide and you can actuallyuse them to create your own b-track by arranging them in the free program "garageband" It's awesome and allows for you to make something unique rather than something used by hundreds of other mac users. Peace and hair grease :)
Hi KyleHD, thanks for dropping in!
Katie and nsaidi - smile I laugh out loud sometimes in here. It's so much fun thanks for all your hard work.
IR Crew: Contacted Mary at Google. She said they will call and set something up to discuss your indexing of videos. I gave her the 3 numbers I have, including tech support. Hope it ends up helping.
By the way, anyone know why CNN is devoting so much time to Berlusconi these days? Someday, I need to do an iReport on what Italians in Rome think of him!
Katie, I'll take a look. Thanks
@adriana71 congrats! I did a blog post on that for my new job! Will you take twitpics, so I can update the blog that day?!
I've got to run, everyone. Thanks for another lively conversation. Looking forward to Monday's roundtable. Hope you can make it!
@DesireG - Thanks for the tips. Music is always tough. That might be a good roundtable discussion topic one day.
You're probably all gone by now. I was trainig some teachers. Looks like a lively discussion though! Can't wait to read the rest'
@WausauFamily That's quite interesting. We've heard a lot about H1N1 and it's such a hot topic, if you see something going on, you should consider iReporting it and updating over time. Like, making a new story. I'd say, keep following it, if you're passionate about it. Sounds like it's worth looking into.
Margo, it made me cry! I think he was wonderful. His kids must be so proud of him.
@hhanks Hi Henry, I had a dream last night that you were jogging past my bus, and decided to jog to Seattle to say hi! haha
nsaidi: You're a funny guy.
Ok folks, gotta get, take care all.
Thanks IR Crew for everything, it's always a pleasure.
@adriana @kyle Congrats to both of you! Keep us posted on how you're doing.
And... I think I'll need to step out in just a sec...
hey Omekongo! We missed you!
Oh I'm not going to miss Monday. Hope it diamond bracelets. lol
I've got to go too. Have a great weekend.
Don't forget about our special iReport roundtable
Monday, October 26th, at 12:30 p.m. ET
Hello Henry :) Just saw this email invite. Sorry for the lag :( Glad to be here. Seems like a great round table group :)
Bye davidw

By David and all the iReport team. See you Monday if I can...
Hi toddsquad I think it's rounding down. It's for 3:00 your time.
Ciao babes. Hasta Lunes.
nsaidi: opps, give me a sec while I get this foot out of my mouth.
Bye all.
Thanks David, I did want to ask if there is a way to have new posts at the top instead of at the bottom? Someone may have already asked. Or maybe a big chat session, just to make it easier see what everyone in the round table group is saying. Thanks again :)
time to go get a car load of rugrats! Thank you everyone! Sorry to be rude not sure on how all this works! Very interesting! Some good people all trying to do something so good in so many directions!
Thanks toddsquad good to see you!

Welcome omekongo!
@toddsquad - davidw is gone but that idea is on our to-do list.
Hello all -- First time weighing in on the blog. I love iReport.
Short intro: I suspect I'm in the minority here, because I am a humorist whose work mainly involves analyzing the issues/events of the day through the prism of satire.
I was thrilled when my second iReport (Health-care reform rhetoric hazardous to your health, June 24) was featured in "Newsiest Now," resulting in actual viewers (1,500).
This inspired me to post half-dozen reports through the summer, but when viewership dropped to the 50-150 range I got discouraged (though I certainly sympathize with the Herculean job the editors have in poring through thousands of submissions to reward the best with "On CNN" and/or "Newsiest Now" designations).
This week, I took another shot with a Balloon Boy report (Media high on helium during Balloon Boy coverage) and was ecstatic when Henry Hanks called and an "On CNN" tag appeared. Now I have fresh motivation to contribute.
I'm hoping there is a place for intelligent satire in iReport, and now that I have my first "On CNN" tag (hooray!) I am very optimistic.
I look forward to trying to participate in the conversation here on the blog as well.
Sorry to be so long-winded.
Thanks for listening,
John B
@KyleHD - davidw says he won't forget.
Gotta go - see you Monday all!
Oh, one more special announcement: The CNN Showbiz team wants your thoughts on primetime TV -- share your reviews on video here!
For example, tonight you can iReport a review of shows like "The Office," "30 Rock" or "Grey's Anatomy."
Here it is: http://www.ireport.com/ir-topic-stories.jspa?topicId=344335
Also looking for your iReports if you or anyone you know are "living in a time warp" - http://www.ireport.com/ir-topic-stories.jspa?topicId=335338
Hi all!
Just finished driving! Great discussion guys! Thanks E for the story props! I enjoyed yours too!
Jumping in the conversation late. Do have a few questions. Does the CNN stamp on a report mean it has aired? And when do select posted stories air? I've been looking and haven't seen them on TV.
Missed it again~!! :)
All that secrecy about the new look and it was announced publically anyways. Looks good folks!
Hi promisenews --- the stamp means it is on CNN or CNN.com.
Sorry I missed was not feeling well...interesting meeting though, I read it all..thanks!
hhanks, davidw, whoever may read this.
I'm unable to use my IR email, seems to be disabled. In fact, I am unable to use it to notify the IR Team that it's not working, or anyone else that emails me, so I have to use this forum to notify the Team.
