The latest and greatest on CNN iReport, brought to you by Team iReport.
Please join us here in the blog at 12:30 p.m. ET to talk about all the big changes we've made at CNN iReport and ask any questions you have about the section.
Our developers have been working tirelessly to stamp out some nagging bugs, and we'd like you to let us know if you're having any trouble.
If you're new to the roundtable, here's how it works – we'll open the comments on this post at 12:30 p.m. ET and you can jump in and ask your questions. Members of Team iReport will answer as many of your questions as we can.
Before we get started, I'd like to encourage you to watch this video from iReporter MelissaF. She checked out the CNN iReport section over the weekend and did a great job explaining all of the new features.
We're looking forward to talking to you at 12:30 p.m. ET.
Hi everyone and welcome.
I want to start by saying that we really appreciate everyone's feedback over the weekend.
It was really helpful.
Hi I'm first today looks like. david did you see my report that won't upload? I noticed it's gone now.
Hi all!
Hello!
Hello
good afternoon
Hi Katie and tyson and Ky42
G'day, y'all! Thanks for joining us, looking forward to hearing what you have to say.
Hello Hello from San Diego!
@ireporttwo -- Were you able to upload it finally? We had some server troubles for a little while yesterday, so I think that's what it was.
Hi, everyone!
Mostly pm's and upload problems.
Hey guys.
Howdy.
Hi Everyone:
I also wanted to add how I love how HLN has added iReport to it's homepage:
http://www.cnn.com/HLN/
Awesome!
I think this really helps for iReporters to find out how their reports were actually used by CNN.
david I'll try again. Thanks
someone tried to contact me from Ireport team this morning and i was out and my son deleted the message by mistake don't know who called
So far the site works great. I just don't like the bar above the video or picture.
good morning!
So to get us started, what do y'all think of the new CNN iReport section?
@davidw..would have loved to gone to the launch party..should of had a contest or something for a trip to NY for it...looked like a lot of fun!
Question::
I was very happy to test out the 200mb upload max. :) Uploaded fast, converted fast, looks great full screen!
The only thing I see is the last second of the video seems to be cut off. Should I make more of a pause at the end of my future video packages to prevent?
Hi ky42, thanks for letting us know! Myself and a colleague were trying to contact you about your Halloween pictures. We'll get in touch with you shortly.
@MelissaF Thanks for pointing that out! We're definitely hope to feature iReports on the air more often. You all may have noticed the "Voices" section on the iReport home page, which features iReporters who were on CNN TV.
@KyleHD...Hey there iPlexus man!
@MelissaF -- Sadly we didn't have time to run a contest. Plus it would have ruined the surprise.
Thanks
Do people like this new layout in general?
Dzein dobry!
On the homepage I tried to email the video about the lady with no arms and could not do it.
I really like the new site. I miss the old On CNN stamp, but overall I really like it!
Hey @MelissaF
Re: "last second of the video seems to be cut off." We're looking into that @ChrisMorrow
@Katie...yes I did..finally bringing together the big mysteries of what happens to our reports in CNN land..lol. I pointed that out in the video @davidw put up for everyone to see. It makes people, especially ego nuts like myself, lol, where to direct people when it comes to your pieces, but my favorite part of everything is the iReporter search engine...very nice...easier to explain to people how to find me.
I like it. You guys did a great job.
Welcome, all!
I did a video on it over the weekend. I thought it was well done. I just wish we had spell chech on the comments screen
@davidw..I agree with KyleHD the "ON CNN" stamp was a lot nicer.
@MelissaF love your video! we couldn't have introduced the site better ourselves :)
@davidw..bummer...
;-)
@adriana71 -- The not vetted for CNN bar is there because iReports are now on a CNN.com template, so they look just like CNN stories.
It's a great opportunity for people to see iReports, but it makes it even more important than ever that we make it clear when material hasn't been cleared by CNN.
Thank you Tyson :)
david did you see my message about the violation button? I didn't have it next to my name.
Hi all
@lila..thanks a bunch!
One thing..when you go to full screen it gets blurry..what's tech support doing for that? I uploaded max resolution in QuickTime because WMV was even blurrier.
hello ewillies1961
@adriana71 One way to get spell checking for your comments is to use the Firefox browser - it has spell checking built in.
@davidw It makes sense I know.
@adriana71 What browser are you using? A lot of them have built-in spell checkers that can do the job if you need it. My Safari highlights all my misspelled words.
the problem I am having is the post I've looked at the title use to change color or become lighter after I had viewed it now I can't seem to remember which post I have viewed or commented because it doesn't lighten any more
@ireporttwo -- We're looking at how to make it so the report violation button isn't so close to the "more" button on long comments.
The good news is, our moderators and I are watching the site, so if something gets flagged by mistake, we'll take care of it.
Hi everyone!
@ky42 Interesting - looks like that's side-wide. We can take a look.
Well, I suppose I'm gonna be hated for this, but I really have some serious issues with this thing.
Most notably, the poorly done, redundant navigation of it.
The "Home Page" confused every single person that I showed it to, over 20 that had never seen it at my football party yesterday. Most common response "I Don't Get It". "Home Page" seemed more like a totally overblown advertisement.
It doesn't appear you used a very good study group, if one was used at all and I think you'll have less new people rather than more in the future interacting with it, but perhaps more that look at it.
The look is pretty good, but I give a D overall for the layout and function.
Sorry not to be a kissa**, but then again you know me.
@nsaidi.. Hmm I've tried to use other browsers, but my pc doesn't always coop.
cnn.com looks good on windows 7 and vista
@ireporttwo, the violation button does not show up when you are viewing a story posted by you.
Afternoon all!
I am enjoying the new site
I have a question concerning our
photos. Do we still have the choice
of allowing the downloads of our
photos or not? I don't see that option.
I do not like the "Not vetted by CNN" bar at the
top.
@Artboy welcome! It's unfortunate that you can't make cartoon posts.
david I was the only person that the word violation did not show up next to my name. Do I get away with being bad? (smile) Isent you a report showing how it looked
@Artboy * cartoon posts on the blog
Welcome Artboy!
Hey everyone
@ adriana I have been using the google spell check seems to work great
I'm not too happy about the new iReport. It's still taking way too long for things to upload for me. I don't like that iReport has very little presence on the CNN front page. Views are way down. If I didn't know to look for iReport, I would never even notice. I don't like that grid of old news on the iReport page. What is that? I don't like clicking on a story and getting video. That should be an option. When I'm at work, I just want to click on a story and read about it. I have the audio turned down at work because I don't want it being so distracting to others around me, so it's useless for me.
Here is ky42's report and I don't have violation next to my name
http://www.ireport.com/docs/DOC-346190
Hi TJ!
@TheWarden
Not to challenge the validity of your viewpoint, but with anything new it takes time to Navigate. When I got Windows Vista..I thought it was so difficult to get around, especially the Word when I had been use to using XP for so long.
It takes time to learn how to get yourself around a new place, but if you keep on clicking like I did for 2 days before I did my video, then you will realize it has a lot of great things. And with anything new there is always a lot of bugs and glitches, but this site makes me feel more part of CNN, then the red headed step child being put of with instead of being maximized to good use.
Now CNN is putting their iReporters to good use and we are all becoming a part of history as the first network using this amount of user generated media. AWESOME!
@Ryn Good catch. Yes, we took off the download option for technical reasons and because it wasn't widely used.
And, @davidw responded to the "Not vetted by CNN" bar earlier in the conversation. Since iReport is now part of CNN.com, we need to include that distinction before we vet material for use. Anyone who writes for CNN.com goes through a copy edit process before they get on the site -- vetting is a similar process for iReporters.
The good news is that iReports are all over CNN.com now! Have you taken a look at the Travel page? It's fun of gorgeous iReport content: http://www.cnn.com/TRAVEL/
When pictures are enlarged, they look very pixelated, even though my originals are huge. How can I fix this?
@ky42.. hmm my pc likes Google. I'll try it. Thanks
Hey ChrisMorrow, please IM me and let me know which of your videos has the last second cut off and we'll see if we can figure out why. Thanks! Pete
Hello IR2
I like the look but have some concerns. I've already addressed some issues in previous posts but I guess the one question I have is where did my superstar go? Also are there any thoughts on doing a section where you profile a specific i-reporter and why they do what they do?
Hi eferria I posted the report. It's not my report it's Ky42's report.
http://www.ireport.com/docs/DOC-346190
iReport assignments are also prominently featured on http://www.cnn.com/SHOWBIZ , as well as madmurph's video about this weekend's hearse parade.
@TheWarden -- Sorry for the slow response. The new section page is designed so that we can highlight the best material from the iReport community.
One of the biggest complaints we had in the past was that if someone posted an iReport early in the morning or on a weekend, it would be pushed out of site before anyone could see it.
It also was hard to showcase the great iReport stories because new stuff would push the older stuff of the page.
Now iReport producers can highlight the best iReports so more people can see them.
Can I ask your advice on how best to position / refer to the iReport "home page"?
@pbethany
I can't seem to private message. Won't let me type in the boxes.
Here are the videos:
http://www.ireport.com/docs/DOC-346623
http://www.ireport.com/docs/DOC-346369
I'm also curious about resolution. I like the fact that you can enlarge the image when you click on it but when that happens the image is a bit fuzzy. Are there any suggestions about sizing my toons?
Had to re-send reports because they would freeze up or not appear. Only to then discover 3 eventually did of the same. Sent emails
@ireporttwo, are you talking about the "Report Violation" button that usually shows up along side the "Share" buttons?
Yeah, I've been here a long time Meslissa, probably the biggest thorn in the foot they have.
I remember it took the members over a year to finally get this interactive blog after we fought tooth and nail for it for over a year. Ryn is one I'm sure remembers how hard we fought for it.
Again, I"m not here to do the "pat on the back thing" that so many tend to like to do. I'm here to discuss what I feel are real issues, like so long ago when we wanted a feedback blog. Oh wow, this blog is the result of those efforts. "Ireport Conference", anyone remember that?
Sorry, I have serious, serious problems with it's layout and navigation and truly do believe it will bring down interactivity in the long run if not corrected. Just as not having the feedback blog lost a great deal of people as well.
I never got an answer as to wether an actual study group was used.
Hey @MelissaF (and everyone), now that we have full screen we are weighing our options for improving the image and video quality when in that mode. Stay tuned!
Is there a way we can get a "select all" box in the private messages so we can delete all the messages on the page instead of one at a time?
What about linking to Facebook, Digg, etc? There is no corresponding thumbnail image to include? Will that be fixed?
ncdan just pm'ed me and I can't respond
@JoyfulGypsy What part of the upload process is slow? If it's the part that shows the progress bar (e.g. uploading file 1 of 3, 42%...), then the speed depends primarily on the size of the file you're upload and the upload speed of your internet connection.
@pbethany..so for right now we shouldn't worry about our resolution or format on our side?
Hi, all..impressive and a nice surprise! Still fumbling around with everything..too soon to say but did notice trouble responding to and sending PMs..text won't type in that box..but all the Red on the pages excites me..LOL
Hi eferreia KY42 posted a report and I am the only one he would not be able to report (If I was a bad girl) It's not my report.
kyrogers - Uploading was super fast before the change. Nothing has changed on my part.
@TheWarden Like eveything else it's a work in progress. Considering CNN wasn't all to sure about doing this project,the producers have moved a long way. Also consider other cable news networks have something similar, but don't use it to it's full potential.Not discounting your concerns, I think it's good feedback.
Back to the drawing board. Take care all. More Artboy to come.
Hi @JoyfulGypsy - can you tell us a little more about the FB/Digg issue?
@The Warden...ok..what are your suggestions?
I am not here to kiss butt either, but you can have a constructive conversation with criticism and "pats on the back." That's why the blog is here...because you and Ryn's suggestion was heard...thank you! ;-)
Bye, @Artboy! See you next time.
DavidW. "Home Page" should not be the primary page in my opinion. This has caused some serious confusion. And, if it is to be the home page, take out at last half of the stuff you have on it, it's way too much, causing far too much confusion.
i.e. Yahoo vs. Google. Remember the old search engines like Alta Vista, GoTo, and many others. They also suffered from this.
Strip that page down, highlight the stories in a way that list them, rather than the overly done art approach. Don't get me wrong it's nice, but it's confusing. More toward function, far less toward artistic value on the page.
This is really were I see the problem. Also, highlight the link "Ireports" in soft red of pink to distinguish it.
Additonal feedback I got was the Upload link, it wasn't understood either by the none familiar. "Upload Story" is what I had suggested to them and that was understood.
Remember, rule of thumb, make a monkey be able to use it, and you got the idea.
On the good side, it visual is stunning, and I do like that part of it.
interesting........
Hey Everyone!! I Just got off the Air!! How is it Going??
@Rajiim How exciting! It's always so fun to watch you do your reviews.
@Rajiim -- Welcome, how did your segment go. I haven't had a chance to watch it yet.
Hey Rajiim, welcome to the discussion.
Hey WausauFamily!
How are you liking things?
lila - Before the change, when I would click on the button to link my iReport to Facebook I would get several thumbnail images to choose from to include with my Facebook link. I would select the one that corresponded to my iReport and click ok. Now, the images that come up are not mine. They are other iReporters pictures that I can't use. Now, I can only link text (no picture). So, I'm not linking my iReports to Facebook or Digg anymore.
Can I come out? Still standing in the corner.
@Rajiim..did they ask you anything about the Vampire's Assistant? or just the Saw 6 movie?
@pbethany
Can not return your pm. using IE8
Welcome @Rajiim
@Rachel8 & David
Thanks for watching.....The Segment went great I Thought!!
I like how iReport is setup now!!
@Rajiim
Great job! I was watching :)
Also, any idea if the cnn app for iphone will allow you to view all the ireports and not just some?
JoyfulGypsy, I think we will be able to get a fix out this week to include a story thumbnail for use when posting to Facebook, Digg, etc. Thanks, Pete
Hi Rajiim!
@phethany - That would be great. Thank you, Pete.
@ChrisMorrow - Thanks
@MelissaF - Ameila, Vampire's Assistant, & Saw VI.
I Go Screen "THIS IS IT" tomorrow night!!
@TJCIII -- The CNN iPhone shows the last 10 vetted one. We're looking at ways to expand on the future, but I don't know when that will happen.
@Wausau, what's up? Feel free to share!
Chris your last report got over one hundred thousand hits, does anyone know if she broke a record?
But before I go, The superstar status doesn't really bother me all that much I was more curious than anything. As far as profiling specific i-reporters how about a round table on your end anchors, producers and such where each person picks one that they think would make an interesting story to highlight. Josh could make it a point to let people know about an i-reporter of the day or depending on the day and volume of news
i-reporters who are making a difference in their communities much like the CNN Hero segment. Now back to drawing.
Thanks David. I have a few clients that read alot of the posts and they are disappointed they can only see a few.
Hey Henry, Nicole, Katie, Ireporttwo!!! And Everyone else I Missed!!! :-)
@ Rajiim looking foward to seeing your video.
@Rajiim..wow non stop movies for you..lol How did you get the screening of This is It? I've been looking everywhere. I plan on doing a huge piece on that one with my older iReports edited into it.
@Rajiim - CNN Entertainment is looking for "This Is It" reviews - http://www.ireport.com/ir-topic-stories.jspa?topicId=346598
Dear nsaidi --
I wanted to thank you for the blog post in which you mentioned and linked to my humorous take on the Balloon Boy story. Thanks also to Henry Hanks for "discovering" it and calling me to vet it. This will certainly inspire me to do more.
The redesign is exciting. This relative iReport rookie will save specific feedback for a later post.
I'm hoping to become a valued member of the iReport community.
The potential here is huge!
John B (aka HumorGazette)
Also, links to such places as the Toronto Film Festival which my cousins had their recent film featured -- not that anyone on the staff noticed the post -- don't work. I' tracked down 17 links that don't work for some reason or another.
Most of the other stuff has been noted here, little things, bugs. I'm concentrating on the BIG navigation issue. It's a problem for new users, but could be fixed very, very easily. I would suggest a study group of people that have no idea what iReport is, and are only marginally good with computers.
I think you have your demographics for the young pretty much at it's peak. The growing demo will be older people that are just now getting into computers, you know this to be true if you've studied your numbers. Use those people for the study group and take feedback from them is my best suggestion.
Hey Adriana71!! Thanks for your comments!!
@Nicole - i plan to get people before and after the film.
They are trying to get people to wear MJ gear.
Gloves and all!
Listening and learning. Mind is on medicine and hunger... Thanks Chris
are there any plans to make there a chat or im service, ex like facebook has?
@katie
uploading now.
@Artboy Hey, those are fun suggestions! Thanks for sending. Now get thee to thine artistry.
Oh..You have a screening for This is It tomorrow night, but there are midnight and special showings here tomorrow also. I just have to figure out the logistics of it all..ugghh!
@ChrisMorrow Thanks!
I'm trying to be a good peep today. lol.... sorry
Hey @ireporttwo - here's a link to the most viewed iReports http://bit.ly/2UIuTh
@HumorGazette thank you for doing it! It was a very funny post you made. We are looking to see what else you put together. You seem to be quite creative!
@WausauFamily -- No need to hold back. We want to hear what everyone has to say.
Might be nap time...
@Henry - COOL!! I Hope to Have a Good Piece. Cant Promise you 2 1/3 minutes!! LOL
Are there any guidelines for iReporters when it comes to content? I've noticed this site has turned into a personal blog or vanity site for many. Also, there are so many copy and paste posts that are nothing but redundant and displace the real, newsworthy stories. If there are any guidelines, please post them. It really takes away from our credibility when you come in here and see some of the things that get posted.
@Rajiim I loves me some MJ gear and gloves. That sounds like a whole bunch of awesome right there. We're all really curious to see what people think of that film.
I get too worked up on things at times and need to relax some. Listening today (wife is keeping her eye on me today)
Hey, TJC, EWillies and Henry..Is it possible to expand the assignment list to include more in the political, health, and Banking?..I use sound off more than I would if there were sub categories under Politics and for instance "World" or "International" Afghanistan, Israel, Iraq..and so on
@Rajiim When you go to the "This is It" screening, you may want to consider taking photos as well! As you can tell, the new CNN is very photo-heavy. A great shot would be a good way for us to showcase your video review.
@HumorGazette P.S. We are excited to have you on board, and if there's something you want to say about the site, please feel free to speak up now. That's the purpose of this special roundtable!
Well, that's all I have to say.
For the record. considering you folks started this on a shoestring and watching what you've made of it.., You have all smile from me, and that very , very difficult to get as you know.
hhanks - lila, as always old crew of IR, congrats! What a success.
davidw, thanks for all that you've done since your arrival, it's been instrumental.
And, to all others that are relatively new, keep up the good work and thanks for listening.
Bye now.
So is there ANY plan to Make CNN Android Apps for the new Google / Android Phones??? Most Phone Companies are Dropping their current software and moving to Android OS because it's cost effective!!
I have to go here in a second guys..
I have a fun filled Night at the Village at the Women's Conference in Long Beach. Guess who I am going to meet besides Maria Shriver?....My mentor, Jillian Michaels! Yes! Can't wait to upload photos and maybe video from tonight. Lots of celebrities!
@TheWarden -- Take care
Bye Melissa!! Talk to you soon!
@JoyfulGypsy That's one of the advantages of our new iReport main page - we'll be able to showcase the very best iReport content instead of just whatever happens to be coming in at the moment. It allows us to surface the really strong content and show off the iReports (and iReporters) that we're really proud of!
@iReportStaff
Any windows mobile apps in the making as was for iPhone? Actually I love the new look of the site. iReports look more official and integrated to CNN.com. There are bound to be glotches in any undertaking this size. This was a huge software remake. The transition is smoother than I have seen in comparable switches.
Hey @JoyfulGypsy, great question. We just added a little bit about story guidelines to the iReport community guidelines: http://www.ireport.com/guidelines.jspa
The bottom line, really, is that good stories add something new and interesting to the discussion. The great thing about the new main iReport page is that it's built to highlight the best content here, and not just the latest upload.
@katie
video is uploaded. still cuts off at the end. hmmmm.
http://www.ireport.com/docs/DOC-346627
Thanks Tyson will have a look.
@ireporttwo, sorry if I did not get it yet, but the "Report violation" link won't show up in a comment posted by you. So, logged in as ireporttwo, you won't see the "Report violation" in comments that ireporttwo posted, but ky42 should see the link in those comments.
Yes The Screening for MJ is at 9:30pm though.
Very Unusual! Guess for security purposes.
We appreciate all the hard work that went into this new format. Looks very professional and first class. Glitches will be worked out. Sure like "The Warden"... never thought I'd be saying that!
@Liberty1955 -- Here's a link to other Assignments we're looking for. http://www.ireport.com/community/assignment
Of course, you're always encouraged to post about any topic you're interested in.
@nsaidi..I saw that great job! Got to go! Keep up the great job! Stressful for all of you with dealing with all the glitches and bugs..but very rewarding for a job well done!!!
;-) Bye all!
Ok everyone, have to take off, enjoy the day.
@Liberty1955 - Sound off topics vary based on the news of the day, but the sound off assignment is always wide open, of course.
Well, guys I gotta go. Duty calls in the form of errands. And I'm giving myself a clap on the back. I didn't tell anybody what you guys were up to. ha.. ciao
I think Joyful's comment on content could be useful..if there are some rules..would want to know and what may be offensive in as far as photos of war and such..
Bye @adriana71 take care
Thank for your replies, rachel8 and lila. However, how long are those stories going to be left on the front page?
@Nicole..... My son will be one. I'm just wearing a T-Shirt with a Glove!!
I can see it davidw
Bye all.
@JoyfulGypsy We just updated the grid with some new items this morning, and hope to pretty regularly. Check back later this afternoon for some new content!
Updating the page is a new process for us, and we'll get better (and quicker) at it as time passes. In the meantime, the feedback is super helpful. Thank you for your patience.
@JoyfulGypsy We'll update the front page several times a day to make sure there's always fresh content...so don't worry, it won't get stale!
@Rajiim -- awesome. This is it, for shizzy.
Sorry I'm late!
@everyone -- Since a lot of people are having to leave, I want to go ahead and remind you all that we will be holding our regularly-scheduled roundtable talk on Thursday at 3 p.m. ET.
Hey mpgomatic, welcome!
thanks
@mpgomatic -- Welcome, what do you think of the site?
hey guys, i was just wondering if you were planning on embedding a new chat device, for the roundtables or a im service to talk with you or other ireporters on the site?
@KyleHD -- No ETA on that. We'll let you know though.
Thanks, David and Henry..will ck out the link..Nice job..will wait to see the PM issue worked out..The site looks great! One suggestion..to plug it more on the main page..you guys know what you've got! And it's growing all the time! See what you started?!..gotta run..Thanks for all your effort!
Gotta run, duty calls, but I'll be checking out the blog to see what you have to say. Thanks for coming and having this important conversation with us. For shizzy.
Exciting Times!
Have a great day iReporters! I'm off to document the World. :)
@everyone I've got to get back to some projects. Thank you all for the feedback! It's super helpful for all of us.
Thank you, nsaidi --
I'm still digesting and navigating everything.
One quick thing I noticed (re. iReport search function):
I probably need to do a better job with "tags" and such, but when I search "Balloon" and "humor" or "humorgazette" nothing comes up.
I'm hoping that folks might find me when they search the "topic" I'm reporting on and "humor."
Not a complaint. As mentioned, I'm new and just getting started -- but, like everyone here, hopeful about sharing creative ideas with the world.
Here's a suggestion.......
Can you link our CNN.COM Live VOD To our profiles
so others can find them easier???
Thanks, everyone for coming! I'm so happy to hear people are liking the new site. We've got lots of work ahead of us, for sure, but this is a great start! We'll keep blogging all week about new features -- see you there.
Also, what makes a post worthy of vetting? I've seen some iReporters get vetted for whatever they throw out there and get prominently featured, while others that I think are very worthy and contribute good material are completely overlooked.
Bye Katie
Take care, everyone. See you on CNN iReport soon
We agree Joyful. A city turns out to feed its hungry and .... better stop!
Katie-Thank you for your reply. :o)
Take care @everyone
back to the "time-out" corner wife says!
@Nicole -ROFLMAO!!
@David - I like the readability and use of whitespace. Redesigns are always tricky ... I'm still getting accustomed to the new layout.
Have a great day everyone and thank you for all this information.
Well I guess It's Over! Someone get with me on that Android app info please!!!!
Bye all
@JoyfulGypsy -- We get a lot of great stories every day and unfortunately we can't vet them all. If we're working on a project, or covering breaking news then we may not be able to get to stories we want to vet.
The good news is that with our new grid, we can highlight a story that might be a few days old, but is still cool.
In the past, those stories would be 10 or 20 pages back, even if we did approve them.
@Rajiim -- Sorry for the delay. I'm not sure what the timeline is for the new mobile platforms.
We changed time here and I missed the whole thing!
Take care everyone, feel free to email me or contact@ireport.com if you have any other questions.
Does the iPhone app allow uploads? I'm rethinking my workflow ...
Don't forget, we'll have our regular roundtable discussion on Thursday at 3 p.m. ET.
David, my question was also about CNN's home page. iReports are no longer there and that was how I kept up on what people were doing and also it brought a lot of hits on ireports. I don't know that non iReporters go to look at the iReport page.
I forgot to mention to some of those here. I cannot reply to emails, so don't take it personally.
Finally, after more than a year of battling an serious illness that nearly took my life, I have essentially fully recovered and will be leaving iReport after I finish the somewhat absurd "iReport Awards" I promised to finish. Kept me busy during this time.
All and all, it was an amazing experience and, for lack of a better word an "AWESOME" idea. Time to get back to work now, after more than a year, I'm ready.
Ever hear the voice of movie promo's, commericals, Discovery and History channel documentaries? Listen closer, you might notice something about one of those voices.
Thanks Team iReport!
Wasn't the RoundTable created
to express concerns and
ideas to better the site?
It seems it is becoming a personal
agenda blog.
I feel we need to keep it geared to the
issues.
Hello to all I got late I will read everyhting take care and have a great week thanks
I love it, it's got everything a growing journalist needs. A big leap from anything else I seen online. Good job CNN/iReport

Hello iReport team and fello iReporters
Oh, I completely forgot to mention this.
The server seems really slow and none responsive these days. If you haven't hear of VMWare, you should get it.
http://www.vmware.com
This is the highest end Virtualization Technology there is. If you're not familiar with what Virtualization Technology is, you really should be.
The CNN site has enough traffic to warrant the use of it. Save 90% of your current electric cost, takes one server and turns it into 10 while making it faster, and more effecient for the users.
You could get rid of much of your servers lag with it.
I really meant it, this would be a very good idea. I know the owners if you want to get in touch with a rep just email me.
Honestly, look into what I'm saying.
take care.
I assume we're done. I'm gonna go back and read it all right now!
Hi all,
While you guys were slacking off and chatting I was out getting a good story for iReports : > ).
Percy
Hi latecomers, we will have another roundtable later this week.
I'm on the "I like the new look" side. CNN is one of the most recognized brands in the world. The first responsibility of everyone doing anything with CNN should be protection of that valuable brand. When you use that brand in any reporting you must respect the literally thousands of people who have worked so very hard to give you the privilege of being associated with CNN in some way.
The new CNN site brings us all much closer together under the CNN brand and this is a huge benefit for all of us and our audience. This great benefit comes with greater responsibility to our audience. We count on the people in Atlanta to make sure this brand is protected for all of our benefit.
I am still going through all the changes but overall I am very impressed so far.
Percy
Ted's not so impressed, and he started this thing called CNN.
Time Warner and it's "new" personnel have done an ok job. I'm more with Ted on this one, however.
There's more than just one reason FOX is so popular in comparison, in this country. They're getting readed to expand internationally, that's going to be interesting.
Can't say I'm totally with the "everyone's a winner" generation that this new type of personnel seem to push. Keeps people from knowing what their actually good at, and what their not.
Fox News has pulled off another dominant quarter, claiming the top 10 cable news programs in 3Q 2009 and growing against 3Q 2008, while CNN and MSNBC lost substantial portions of their election-boom audience.
Majority of people like raw and real, not pat on the back stuff, always have. In the end Ted was, and is correct. The wise would take notice.
Hi! Super late for me, we thought it was 12:30 PST! I like the new site and look, but yes, the glitches need to be fixed. I don't see where the issue of not being able to respond to PM's was adressed?
My smart and computer saavy teenage niece came over today. She is familiar with iReport but hadn't seen the "new CNN" yet. I asked her to find iReport on the CNN home page. She looked around and after a while, she asked: "They got rid of iReport?"
That's right, she couldn't locate it immediately on the main CNN page, assumed it had been discontinued and dismissed it away while she moved on to something else.
Geez I need to read the blogs like everyday!! I hate missing these meetings! I was thinking it was Thurs. oh well. I read everything. I am getting used to the new design and I like it. I have had no issues at all. I use firefox and I can private message no problem.
Lila contacted me via email yesterday as regards an ireport but I dont see anything vetted on my report as yet. also this morning I m getting a window box saying are u new to this each time I access cnn
and when one makes a comment on the blog it should come on the top and not at the very last otherwise it will never be read as there are so many other comments above me which have already been read
We have a friend visiting and staying with us from Indiana who had never even heard of CNN.com. She uses the computer every day, but mostly for email and social networking. I asked her to join iReport after she went to Central Park and came back with some nice autumn photos. She agreed and with little guidance from me, was not only able to find iReport, she joined and uploaded the photos. I was surprised after reading all the comments about how no one can find us now and how difficult it is to navigate.
Mcintron - I think your comment only underscores the fact that people don't know where to find us.
Sure, iReport isn't too hard to hunt down and then follow the directions if your specific and deliberate intent is find iReport and post pictures. However, how many people are really doing that?
I mean't to say....How many people are really doing that when the aren't even aware of iReport.
OK, i get what you're saying and i don't know the answer to that. And you may be right. With all the exposure iReport gets on CNN you'd think informaiton would be permanently embedded on the home page that leads back to iReport. Don't have a clue why it wasn't done. Perhaps because they'd rather have advertising in that space.
Yes, that's exactly what I was referring to, mcintron. It would be nice if iReport had more prominent presence on the CNN homepage. :o)
