The latest and greatest on CNN iReport, brought to you by Team iReport.
Please join us at 3 p.m. ET for our weekly roundtable discussion.
It's been an incredibly busy week here at CNN iReport and we want to thank everyone for their patience. We also want to thank everyone for jumping and helping out following last week's earthquake in Haiti.
I got so many calls, emails and private messages from iReporters who wanted to help and saw that many more people just started reaching out to people looking for their loved ones.
We'll have more on your remarkable contributions soon, but I speak for the entire team when I say that I've never been prouder to be a part of CNN or the CNN iReport community.
We'll open comments at 3 p.m.
hi dav

Yo yo yo, hello! Great to see everyone, sort of.
Hi professirx!
Hi professirx! Thanks for joining us. It's been a hectic week.
*sort of see.
Hello from WARM & SUNNY Seattle this Thursday!
I finally made it early and on time,since my computer is in the shop and I can't edit, I have a lot of time, hello iReporters and Staff
Hello from "warm" and sunny New York City. :o) Good to see everyone.
Yodel, everyone!
hi everyone, I'm baaaack ... still have a problem with my original account. :/
The weather seems a bit out of whack, yes. Hello K & J.
@MPGomatic -- Glad you're back. I'm sorry we haven't gotten that sorted. We'll take another run at it once things get a little closer to normal.
@mpg2 Welcome! Can you log in? Can we help you? Your doppleganger is welcome here regardless.
Yes very hectic katie, wondering how many disaster mankind has to experience b4 we realize we all need each other.
Thx, David & Nicole! I'll just have to hang with my doppleganger in the meantime. =)
@professirx -- I'm really proud of the way the iReport community has rallied together to help. It's very inspiring.
Hello to all! - Newbie here.
@professirx We couldn't have handled the huge influx of iReporters if it weren't for the support from our wonderful community -- that was a great discovery, how eager iReporters were to help.
We couldn't have done what we did without the help of everyone in the community. It was really quite a feat.
Hi BLAKEINHOU! Welcome, hope things are well.
Thank you, nsaidi. All is well in Houston today.
Hi all.
oh road call... my name is Richard, aLso professir, you add the x..I'm from new jersey....now who comes up next....ROAD CALL..lol
Hey EWillies!
@everyone -- Since we have some new folks today. I wanted to encourage everyone to jump in if you have a question or comment. As you can see this is pretty informal.
Hello EWillies1961 have you been to Just-A-Bar lately?
Just want to say that I am happy to be a part of the iReport community and to participate in the database project. What an amazing collaboration.
am eating grapes
@professirx not sour ones I hope! But the sweet and juicy kind. I'm drinking Chai.
@BLAKEINHOU
No what is new now?
Melissa in the house.
@EWillies1961
I haven't heard anything from them since that day. I was curious if you have been in touch.
i know I asked this the other week, but any new new assignment's coming out soon?
@dav @katie I agree, there has been so much support
@JoyfulGypsy -- We appreciate everyone's help so much. More importantly, the families appreciate it. I couldn't even begin to count how any emails I've read from people thanking CNN iReport for helping them tell their story.
Pouring in SoCal...and won't let up..My iReport with Jillian Michaels just finished uploading on my end..she has a very special connection to Haiti and she's auctioning off an awesome motorcycle for Haiti..
*Exclusive Interview*
Hi all thank you for caring for Haiti so much thanks Larena
Hello Room!
@KyleHD -- I'm sure we'll have some new assignments soon.
@nsaid.. mmmmm the green ones
@BLAKEINHOU
I spoke to Chris' brother a couple of times. But not for a couple of months or so.
@davidw - That's great to know. Thank you.
@MelissaF cool beans. Sounds like interesting projects.
Wow, grapes, beans, mmm.
@GoldenEst82 Good to see you back!
@davidw, what's the best way to join the CNN team --> recent college grad
Yeah..it's up...she's so awesome!
http://www.ireport.com/docs/DOC-397118
@Katie
Thank You, I can't report in video yet...
But I am glad to be able to float around and drop my two cents in now and again!
Its nice to be seen! :)
hello golden
For one..bc I am so up to date on the subject..and glad to see CoCo go...ratings were hurting the local news networks advertising dollars...
@Ewillies1961
I'm still here if you ever need a 2nd camera man or wingman.
Cool?
@dm5086a -- First off welcome to iReport. I just saw that you posted a some videos from a Haiti supply drive which is pretty cool.
We're not really hiring right now, but any jobs here would be posted at http://www.turner.com/careers/
Conan shouldn't leave NBC, Leno should ... Jay would be perfect as GM's next CEO.
Hello professirx
@MPGomatic(2) -- From one car junkie to another ... yes. And a rim shot for you!
Boy, I was soo mad that I didn't have video capability, when it was FREEZING here in N. Fl! It was seriously weird for us.
@BLAKEINHOU @EWillies I think it's kind of rad when iReporters offer to become wingmen.
@MelissaF nice job with the interview!
davidw I still can`t get in touch with my Haitian friend in Miami that still can`t find his loved ones
@larena -- I'm sorry to hear about your friend. Hopefully he gets word soon.
Ciao for now. Have a great day, everyone. See you next week. :o)
@KyleHD..thanks..she's a hard woman to edit..I will be putting an extended version on YouTube....
@Nicole - I might have to fire up the webcam for a rare rant ... I hope my friends at GM won't take it the wrong way, or they'll never invite me out to visit again. :)
@MPGomatic2 -- It actually makes sense. He knows cars and knows what the American public wants. Seems like perfect combination.
I would like to know if anyone knows what i should do to get my mother and sister out of Haiti. I am a US Citizen and also a Veteran. They are homeless and both mentally and physically ill. I need to find a way to help them immediately.
@davidw..I volunteer with the Red Cross...I am a Public Affairs Lead..and I know what CNN did undertaking the photos thing was a huge deal..but are you working with the Red Cross?? because I thought they already had a similar system already set up..
@MelissaF -- We're working with them and link to each other. I don't have the exact details.
@david
General site question:
Why can we not see ireporters that follow us?
@nsaidi
If we don't help each other out who will?
@david - Alrighty then ... I'll shoot it tomorrow. :) BTW, I'm headed to DC next week to cover the Electric Drive Transportation Conference/DC Auto Show.
@GoldenEst82 -- We're always looking at ways to make the site more user-friendly. I'm not sure where that is on our priority list though.
LOL, I was more curious than anything.
Yall have a lot to do I'm sure!
@steevede -- In addition to nsaidi's suggestions, I would suggest you call your member of congress and see if they can help point you in the right direction. They've got constituence services people, who's whole job is to help people navigate the government.
Here's a link to State Department site that might be helpful http://www.state.gov/p/wha/ci/ha/earthquake/index.htm
@iReport Team..please take a look at the Jillian Michaels piece..it came out great...I have to leave now and work on an extended version for YouTube...it's vital to get the word out everywhere because the auction ends in 4 days..Thank you!!!
@BLAKEINHOU
Thanks Blake. Had to step out for a while.
@BLAKEINHOU
+ You have got much better equipment than mine.... That was a real camera I saw you with.
@ nsaidi and davidw....Thanks very much guys...i'll be sure to follow up on your suggestions. I also had a friend who suggested i go to Haiti and take them to the US Embassy and they might accommodate us and let them come to the US for a limited time. What do you think?
@steevede -- Again, best of luck on that situation. I don't know what I would do in your shoes. Please be careful, whatever you do, as we cannot advise you on that matter. I will say that it seems like Haiti right now is what I would indelicately refer to as a heaping pot of danger what with lack of supplies, quake aftershocks and an unsteady political and security situation. Exercise caution, whatever you decide.
@steevede -- Also, communication is still really limited there, so it might be hard to reach the people you need to talk to.
I would strongly recommend working with officials here in the United States before you do anything else.
Good luck
@everyone -- I've got to go. Thanks everyone for coming by. We'll talk to you next week.
Thank you guys! I really appreciate it...
@everyone Thanks for joining us this week! I'm heading out for the day. Next week's discussion should be a little more lively -- we're all transitioning back to our normal routines!
If I can assist with any projects you guys know how to reach me.
Taking off, thanks all for a great discussion. See you next week.
oops! missed it
Weell, I was running errands. Nice to see everyone comments. And thanks for trusting us to help out.
Apologies to those who have received this message elsewhere but it is not easy to communicate directly with some important persons, even when their websights clearly display a contact message.
I have suggested without any replies? that favoured occupiers of the entertainment world, and talented persons such as poets, artists, singers and authors, contribute one single C.D. each, and people like Max Clifford, Simon Cowell, Microsoft. Virgin. and some government departments get organized: and sell them at about ten pounds, each via the internet.
The long term, steady income from a project like this would help to put Haiti back in working order now, and ensure (self employed) job creation for the children when they get older. I would supply the first C.D. instantly when the set up is complete, and I would pay £20 for two other C.D's myself.
This idea costs very little, in fact it costs nothing at all to email a C.D. to anywhere in the world, and yet several open avenues have not even replied to my mail, I would have thought that a reply would have been instant, and even a refusal with a sound reason, has value.
Call me crazy but why aren't the relief agencies talking about mobile or trailer homes in Haitia instead of these tents that for sure will not survive the rainy seasons? We transport trailers and tractors surely we can transport mobile homes like the ones FEMA used after katrina.
Good job guys. Keep up the good work.

Haiti January 24, 2010 Notice
Pass this strategy on.
Do a massive air drop in the water down the accessible shore line of Haiti. Everything must be flown in until the port can be reopened. That means 15 million pounds (7,500 tons) of airfreight per day. If a cargo plane can carry 75 tons, then that means 100 flights per day, or one plane landing every 15 minutes, then having its goods unloaded and distributed to victims across the country. It is possible to make a drop every ten minutes using airspace spaced every ten miles of shore line of Haiti. This would put the supplies at the feet of the people.
This would amount to 25 drops every 10 minutes. This is 150 per hour. Using the transport planes into the airport only 100 per day can be scheduled. There are 1200 landing slot reservations of aircraft waiting to land at Port-de Prince. At the current rate @ 100 planes per day some of these planes will have to wait 12 days. Drop the necessary supplies to the people down the shore line. The people would know what to do with the supplies and find ways to get the supplies where it was needed.
In military cargo planes you can parachute drops of anything from water, food, building material and the list goes on. Jeeps brought into the air field which can be used at drop points accessible to beaches. These supplies can be destined to the specific inland areas around the island.
This is simple for Air Tactical Control of the USAF to coordinate this and US air traffic controller volunteers to coordinate the flights. I hope you get this and understand what this could do to rebuild Haiti while it is a International effort.
Haiti can use any of the world’s talent of any kind.
Jeff
100 flights per day or one plane landing every 15 minutes at the airport.
150 One Hundred fifty flights per hour can be made down the shore.
After all the positive press that Americans have been getting with the Haiti response, I was disgusted to learn that a volunteer resident in the US was denied passage home. This green card holder (Jamaican born) was part of a group of volunteers who went to Haiti to help with the crisis and when it was time to leave, she was told AMERICAN CITIZENS FIRST!?! So a lone female is left behind in a strange city? Praises for Jamaican soldiers who put her up for the night! Talk about a rape!

ARE YOU AWARE OF THIS!!!! This is too important not to educate your self on!!!
HB 3200 (House Health Care Bill)
Thomas Edwards, editor of The River Cities Texas Tribune, was contacted to get legal permission to quote David Kithil's comments. Permission was granted, so here are excerpts from the article, giving EXACT pages and paragraphs in the bill and why it is so bad.
You can forward this to all of your email contacts. I think Judge Kithil hits everything right on the head, and the opposition you may encounter cannot argue over these points:
JUDGE KITHIL wrote:
"I have reviewed selected sections of the bill and find it unbelievable that our Congress, led by Speaker Nancy Pelosi, could come up with a bill loaded with so many wrong-headed elements.
We do need to reform the health insurance system in America in order to make coverage affordable and available to everyone. But, how many of us believe our federal government can manage a new program any better than the bankrupt Medicare program or the underfunded Social Security program?
"Both Republicans and Democrats are equally responsible for the financial mess of those two programs.
"I am opposed to HB 3200 for a number of reasons. To start with, it is estimated that a federal bureaucracy of more than 150,000 new employees will be required to administer B3200. That is an unacceptable expansion of a government that is already too intrusive in our lives. If we are going to hire 150,000 new employees, let's put them to work protecting our borders, fighting the massive drug problem and putting more law enforcement/firefighters out there."
NOW, here comes the good stuff:
JUDGE KITHIL continued: "Other problems I have with this bill include:
Page 50/section 152: The bill will provide insurance to all non-U.S. residents,even if they are here illegally.
Page 58 and 59: The government will have real-time access to an individual's bank account and will have the authority to make electronic fund transfers from those accounts.
Page 65/section 164: The plan will be subsidized (by the government) for all union members, union retirees and for community organizations (such as the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now - ACORN).
Page 203/line 14-15: The tax imposed under this section will not be treated as a tax. (How could anybody in their right mind come up with that?)
Page 241 and 253: Doctors will all be paid the same regardless of specialty, and the government will set all doctors' fees.
Page 272. section 1145: Cancer hospital will ration care according to the patient's age.
Page 317 and 321: The government will impose a prohibition on hospital expansion; however, communities may petition for an exception.
Page 425, line 4-12: The government mandates advance-care planning consultations. Those on Social Security will be required to attend an "end-of-life planning" seminar every five years.
Page 429, line 13-25: The government will specify which doctors can write an end-of-life order.
HAD ENOUGH???? Judge Kithil then goes on:
"Finally, it is specifically stated this bill will not apply to members of Congress. Members of Congress are already exempt from the Social Security system and have a well-funded private plan that covers their retirement needs. If they were on our Social Security plan, I believe
they would find a very quick 'fix' to make the plan financially sound for the future."

Any interest in cornering the White HOuse regarding job creation after the State of Union speech. Too much of the recovery money has gone for things other than job creation... when will be get back to that as a priority? The president has asked for ideas from ordinary citizens... yet when you send them you get no acknowlegement of receipt, or consideration... even 12 page well edited stuff from industry sector leaders.
why do we make things so hard on each other?
school
-get rid of junior year of high school. make it a year of community service, weather it be peace corps, local community charites, etc.
-anyone who has a student loan, half the balance should be paid off by the uncle sam. the remainder of the balance should be broken down into monthly payments that people can actually afford, no matter if it takes 5 years or 20 years.
-going to school? give people the money they need up front and cut out all the red tape that goes with getting money that is already approved.
home mortage
-anyone with a 30 year or more home loan that has paid over 15 years, pay off the remainder of the loan. 10 years of payments pay off 5 years. anyone that has paid 5 years or more pay off 2 years. less than 5 years pay off the taxes on the home for 1 year.
-need a home? bad crdit? so what? pay rent for another 5, 10 years and hope your credit is in line? how about loans bassed on your budget and what payments you can make automatically taken from your paycheck?
credit-1st of all no more pay day loans. this is destroying families everyday.
-any out standing credit card, furnture store, department store, etc older than 5 years just pay it off. less than 5 years pay off half the balance and again make consumer start or continue making monthly payments that they can afford.
jobs-we can not create jobs until we start making things again. there is not a single good reason that every home, business, school, etc. should not have either solar pannels or windmills on top of them. power grid? every town and every city should have its own grid not connected nationally.
-why does any single person need to make more than $1 million a year? start with sports. attack the owners, and the players will follow. continue with large corperations. what happens with anything made over $1 million? 5% goes to retirment in their name and the rest? take your pick health care, schools, homless, etc.
health care
-1st off wake up america, your fat, and as much as some of you like to say you sexy at your weight or you like the way you are deep down you know it is a lie.
-to bring down cost, help the sick, and really help people we have to 1st look at where we get our food and what we put in it. why do we need to give animals drugs? why do we need to give plants drugs? every city and every town should have its own local farm and garden.
everyone should know exactly where the food they eat comes from
these are just ideas, if you have beeter ones please tell the world, but without new ideas we will be the same america that has been broken the past 30-40 years. the problems we fare today are not from the past 8 or ten years, they are problems that we have always had only now the affect more than just the poor.

Broken Government
I watched the healthcare debate 2/25, and it was a real eye opener, thank you CNN for your coverage. I don’t think it was very productive, but it did show just how dysfunctional our government is. The republicans’ side kept referring to the polls, saying that the majority of Americans are against this bill. All the people I have talked to support a complete overhaul of the heath care system. I question these polls and how they’re done. The truth is, that everyday Americans are dieing because the insurance companies are either, razing rates or denying people coverage because of preexisting heath problems. Maybe, it’s not healthcare that needs an overhaul; it’s government that needs the overhaul. Term limits would be a good place to start. Our representatives are not doing the peoples business anymore. Currently, there are 290 bills waiting to be voted on. What is the problem? Every elected person in Washington should be limited to two four-year terms. Lobbyists should be given limited assess to politicians. Earmarks only benefit the people in whatever state the senators represent. For every dollar that is given for earmarks, an equal amount should go into a fund that would benefit all Americans as a whole. Isn’t it their job to work for the best interest of the American people as a whole?
Ron Reagan (R) deregulated almost everything, after that, Wall Street made it’s own rules: witch was no rules. Republicans want a smaller government; witch would lead to less people with more power, no checks and balances. I praise Obama for what he is trying to do, but he can’t do it alone. He needs the support of the people that put him in office. Where are you people?
