The latest and greatest on CNN iReport, brought to you by Team iReport.
As President Obama takes the podium for his first State of the Union address tonight, it's worth taking a look at how this President, with his much-admired speaking style, has been impersonated and used in advertisements worldwide.
For example, take this ad for a car dealership, and this one from Indonesia featuring a local lookalike. Impersonators have also been big hits online since the 2008 election. (And there was the recent controversy over a photo of the real Obama in an advertising billboard in Times Square.)
Television viewers in Israel can see the latest entry in this proud tradition, and iReporter/Obama fan mrmannyc is right in the middle of it. During the election, he shared many iReports about his desire to see the then-candidate speak, and after being told of a resemblance, started posting up videos of himself as Obama. Flash-forward to today, where he is the star of a musical Israeli TV commercial as the President, singing and dancing in the “White House,” saying “Yes, we can” to the “Yes” satellite television service.
mrmannyc reports that he has been asked to make a promotional trip to Israel. In the meantime, check out Jeanne Moos’ interview with him.
I think I just threw up a little in the back of my mouth. Good grief.
The President has lost the American people, he has crossed the line. Spending like a drunken sailor forde feeding us his ajenda even if we are opposed. The American people see him for what he is, a turdle on a post. Who are the idiots that put him there? Your czars and your party are anti American, your words are promised you'll never keep. Turn in your flag pin, OH I forgot you don't wear one. Post a sign on the front door of the White House, "Gone fishing" then please leave.
wmdeldotto - If the President lost people like you, who don't know how to spell and are too concerned with flag pins, then by all means, that's good.
However, he still has the majority's backing...how any of this is relevant, I don't know. But I'm glad you got that off your chest.
Go educate yourself, wmdeldotto. Obama is spending because of the mess that George W. Bush and the Republican controlled congress got us in. They ran the economy into the ground and got us into not one but two military quagmires in the name of freedom. Go read a book or something. Reading is fundamental.
Commies
Obama is an liar and a fraud ...and now the majority of Americans are on to his lies... it is the beginning of the end for the Dems. Gobama!
He's been in office for a year and you're already criticizing everything he has done and calling him a liar. President George W. Bush was in office for eight years and I'm sure you have nothing bad to say about him. At least President Obama is trying to take care of his own people unlike President Bush who couldn't even do that i.e. Hurricane Katrina.
The election in Mass. shows that the majority do not, in fact, back Obamas presidency, which does include the fraudlent lying Treasury Secretary Geithner, who you can thank for trying to cover up the big bonuses that were paid by the stimulus money. In fact it was the Clinton Presidency that repealed Glass-Steagall and created all of the problems we have with the banks today. Please do your research before blaming Bush for economic issues.
Not sure how this blog got here from this article, but I'll join in. First, all Presidents are liars. If you don't believe me, just do your research. Second, I see a lot of sympathy for Obama. No one told Obama to come out and say he would do this by this deadline or that by that deadline. This is what Presidents do, and they are held to scrutiny for their short falls on these promises. That said, this President has had more power to change things and hasn’t. He tried to change one Major thing and no one wanted it. He knew four months into his first year and spent the last eight months trying to do it anyway. Take from that what you will.
Hoo wee! Spelling that bad says: Have banjo; no teeth. Just like writing in all caps is like flashing a big neon "Insane" sign above your head, spelling that bad (with so many easy ways to check it before posting) takes the wind out of anything you might say.
@ModernMoney: The election in Massachusetts shows that the majority of voters in MASSACHUSETTS preferred SCOTT BROWN to MARTHA COAKLEY. Gallup reports Obama's job approval/disapproval rating at 48/46. Unimpressive, but considering the economy, unsurprising. I'm sure that during the Bush presidency, you were annoyed when Democrats blamed everything that went wrong on the President, so I find it surprising that you think it's worth asserting that Obama is in favor of those bonuses, which I think we all agree are downright nasty and offensive.
@wmdeldotto: Czars ruled pre-1917 Russia, under an imperial form of government that the Bolshevik revolution overthrew. Go learn.
afsdf
Obama should have gone into making commercials with his smooth voice and teleprompter skills. Why is anyone shocked that he is completely in over his head and incompetent, his only leadership experience was as a "community organizer." What were you thinking people?
Obama hasn't been president 4 that long and we expect him to fix all our problems for us .You think he is gonna fix all dis mess in his first year after Bushes' put us in 8 years of mess? He is trying and he is doing well so far, and is was George Bushes' fault
Also he is trying to make us have universal health care so that when your mother is sick she wont have to wait 12 hours to get,"help and all de help is going to be is, you don't have any insurance take an aspirin.`` Obama is trying to make it that a common lady and a rich lady can get the same health treatment.
The American people are finally realizing that the Presidency of the United States is way over the head of Obama....something he and the American people who voted for this guy are learning real fast...and much to their regret!!!
wmdeldotto, and other conservatives like you, seem so afraid of change (even if for the better) that you spend all of your time bashing Obama and trying to undermine his efforts. It demonstrates politics at its worst and you should be ashamed, though I doubt you are. Perhaps you'll make more effort in the future to articulate something more rational that simply pronouncing judgment regarding who is or is not a patriot.
NoBama!
We human beings are nothing more that a "flicker in the wind." Soon we too will sign off out of this planet. Sadly, most people think and act for only the moment. President Obama desires are to bring everyone together. To ensure everyone has equal rights to jobs, health and financial freedom. Is sad to see that the very rich, very white, the racists and bigots will do everything in their power to discredit him. I've learned that in this country, it does not matter how great a president may or could be. It does not matter that maybe today's president may, just may end the hatred the world feels towards the United States. Every flicker is eventually extinguished. Hopefully, the United States will survive the hatred that the last administration brought about.
I'm your northern neighbour, whatever you guys think of your pres. I like him. Our parliament is closed until March, huh, can we borrow him for a while. Cuz, when your econ thrives so does our.
Cnn needs a chat that can go on while they are airing. I would love to write.
Mr President,
Industry has not now nor will it ever give a dam about Main Street. All they care about is the all mighty dollar and when things get tough Mainstreet gets layed off to cut their losses. Usually druing holidays when we need the money the most.
Forget about tax breaks. They are meaningless if you have no money to spend so you can qualify for them in the first place. Industry should be fined heavly for those who have and market their american production overseas. Use that money to offset unemployment.
Mainstreet has had it with empty jestures and promises. Teachers are the most needed and the worst paid Americans. They should be tax exempt on all federal tax deductions from their paychecks. The same with Military, Law Enforcment, Fire Protection Services, Parametic and Ambulance services as well.
Take some of that bank simulas money and give it out back to the people. Everybody from age 18 to 65 with incomes of 250K or less should recieve a check for no less that 5,000.00./6,000.00 for Military, Law Enforcment, Fire Protection Services, Parametic and Ambulance services.
People are the driving force of industry and this nation as a whole and it is time their voices are heared loud and clear.
Put the people first to hell with banks and industry. All those jobs will never appear until the people start spending. the people will not start spending when they have no money to spend with.
This entire peredixical problem of the economy begins and ends with the people. THIS IS WHERE YOU NEED TO DIRECT YOUR EFFORTS TO SOLVE THIS PROBLEM.With the extra money the people will pay their bills, buy their food, replace thier cars, go out to eat and actually shop.Untilll we get the money nothing will happen
ModernMoney I'm no scholar but I'm pretty sure the majority of Americans do NOT live in the state of Mass.
The central problem with G Bush Jr was the trash spin that came out of the White House was so obviously trash and political garbage. The marketing ploys being used now are a bit more subtle, but still spin. The Democrats must get the message that most Americans are sick and tired of the wasted billions spent in the name of Tarp, bailouts, whatever. No more spending, period. Spend the rest of your terms, all of you, in recovering as much money as you can before you are run out of office. If you want reform in anything, get the GAO involved. They're the experts and you haven't even been using them. It's time.
Well, I guess someone oughta comment on the article... cool impersonators!!!
Why do all politicians focus on the American "Family"? I am a 38 yr old Single Woman living in Chicago and I lost my Executive job 11 months ago! If the government is increasing the job market and "stimulating the economy", why am I still unemployed after working hard for 15 years after obtaining 2 degrees?
If I were married, I might actually be relieved to know that I had another person to rely on. Who does the single adult American have to rely on when the economy takes such a dive as this? Where do WE turn? Why does the government focus on health care for families? Middle Class jobs? What about the Executives that have lost their entire livelyhood?
Sorry about you losing your job but what you need to do is go look for a new one and not sit and complain about what you can not change at this point. Food on the table is more important than sitting back blamming the current gov when the past gov was the problem.
I just listen to Rep ex-mayor Rude speak about Obamas state of the union address and I spoke of Pres. Obama being on vacation while the plot to blow up the plain was folied...... I wonder if he remembers where was Bush when the Toweres where blown up........
He also spoke of Pres. Obama not being able to create jobs.... Hello, he is trying to FIX.....FIX people what was already in place before he took office.
Understand that he did not make great call wthin his first 100 days in office but if you feel you can do better... please run for office and find out for yourself.
Very easy to throw stones when you behind the tree.
No Bush, No McCain, No Sarah Palin
Everyone forgets that these are politicians, some of them have not lived a normal life in 20+ years. Their day to day living ( meals, housing and travel ) are paid by tax-payers. I want to see them worried about paying for their ( house note, car note, car insurance, health insurance, feed their family )and at the same time not be certain that they will have a job next year. Don't forget, you and I pay for their health care.
I think what we have lost in this country is respect. Regardless of who is President of the Untied States this person deserves respect. I did not vote for Obama and do not agree with all his policies, but as the President he deserves some respect. You can see that from the older politicians ( Old Bulls )during the speech last night , they did not care what was being said.
If you notice when the President said that their was going to be a freeze put on government spending next year they acted like he was going to take their first born.
I say let them feel the crunch just as everyone in the U.S. is doing today.
The problem that we have is now when you vote for someone in a public office, you have to vote for the one who will scr** you the least.
At the end of the day, what can the President really do.
Come on Guys at lease the President is trying, that all that matters, he may not get everything right, but he is trying, do you remember the mess got from George Bush ? and do you remember the silver plate Bush got from Clinton, Bush got a country with a budget surplus from Clinton, and he leave a massive deficit for Obama. he is trying and that all that's matters
gilbert40- I appreciate your willingness to at least hear the man out. The party lines are so magnetic right now that bipartisanship seems laughable, which is so sad. How can we ever hope to resolve anything if we don't come together? But, just as you pointed out- these politicians are 'lifers', and have no working knowledge of what it's like to lead a normal life. Let's take away their health care, and then they may be a bit more resolved to figure out a bipartisan health care package.
A lot of you think the president has more power than he does. The president can't make or pass laws. That is up to the house and senate. All the president can do is twist arms. The real power that a president has is his veto.
What have you done for YOUR country lately except complain about what one man has not done for YOU over the course of the year, and deny the mess the Bush administration has made over 8 years????
No wonder Obama cant get anything done. Look at the hot booty on Michelle!
Wake up people.....Obama has double the debt in just one year in office. Stop blaming Bush, you didn't hear Bush blaming the prior administration for the attack on 9/11 that Clinton could have stopped did you? The democraps held the power in Congress most of the Bush presidency. I felt ten times more protected from terrorism under Bush than I do now. Obama is smug and obviously doesn't care what the American people think or want. He's also got the worse approval rating than any President ever at this time in his presidency. You can brag all you want that he still has a 48/46 approval rating. Thats nothing to be proud of.
Curious George dolls?
Apar22: Can you tell one one good thing George Bush did for this country the eight years he spend in office? Oh he protect us from terrorism, give me a break
Obama came with lot of promise. People wanted him to lead from front and do things differently. But he has not shown a single bold move in his one year of office. He is floating along the direction of the wind. Hope he learns soon and shows what he can be capable off.
Ppl!! Open your eyes and look what is going on. Its time we move in the 21st Century. Easy said if ppl wld take the time and think big abt what we as Americans must do. Open up your eyes and think abt what we have gone through. The future lies ahead and all that I ask before I die is to ride in a flying car.lol:-) If you want to stay competitive and able to continue to live a good LIFE things have to CHANGE. We have hit ROCK BOTTOM Ppl and the first country to the top Rules. Is only good that we come together in Healthcare Reform, Wall St kickbutting lol...and take care of each other. My thoughts "its like being in a one BIG Family and watching out for one another. And Mr. President

first of all obama is our president ,we should pay him some respect ,and he will be the president for the next 10 years,so cut the nonsense, enough he is fixing your problem that dont get fixed
Truepatriot, did you not even read this? It's a guy who looks like Obama. You need to change your name to truemoron! Instead of critizing the President and hoping that he fails, remember people the 8 years before him lead us into this mess. Of course it's like Bush never existed, and I don't hear any of you complaining about the $4 trillion spent overseas, or the free healthcare Bush gave the Gitmo prisoners. We can't get free healthcare, but they can???? Respect the President, and pray that he succeeds. Because if he fails, we all go down with him....
thanks grace ,people dont understand ,i bet you if they where in his chair they wouldnt do nothing ,obama keep your head and keep up the good work
apar22 I think that it's time for you to wake up. I guess you forgot about Bush, Clinton was on Fox and said he gave the information to Bush, Bush was warned months before the attacks took place. What was Bush doing when the towers fell? Reading a book about a goat and did so for 8 minutes after it happened. If it was a nuclear war, in 8 minutes we'd all be fried. Bush let the roads, infrastructure, airports, schools, the entire system fall apart. You have to spend money to make money. Obama has double the debt in just one year in office. Stop blaming Bush, you didn't hear Bush blaming the prior administration for the attack on 9/11? He couldn't blame Clinton because Clinton told him. Check it out on youtube, the Fox News interview with Slick Willy! The democraps held the power in Congress most of the Bush presidency. I felt ten times more protected from terrorism under Bush than I do now is what you say. Do you know that people who even wore anti-Bush t-shirts were arrested at rallies and people taken away to secret prisons? So if that makes you feel safe, go back to bed, or else keep drinking that cheap beer. If you want smug, go back to the last President. Bush almost ruined the economy, stomped on the constitution, started 2 wars which have wasted TRILLIONS and left Obama to try and clean up the mess. Obama obviously doesn't care what the right-wing, wacko minority of American people think or want. You SAY He's also got the worse approval rating than any President ever at this time in his presidency. Well I am sure that it will never be as low as Bush's 23%. He is trying to do too much too quickly, the only thing I can say is THANK GOD McBush and Caribou Barbie didn't win. Go back to watching Fox News and what in the heck are you posting on CNN for? One thing I sure can't be proud of are ignorant people who don't want the President or the country to succeed. People who don't care if their neighbors die from lack of health care or if big business can buy politicians. I can see that you are one of those Americans. I still love and care about my country and plan on supporting the President, because there is no way he can be as bad as the last one and I definitely thought long and hard about the alternative before I voted....
boy thats deep ,lets hope this year will see obama lead this country to the better ,i bet you he cant sleep .go abama go
We could criticize the president when ever we please. I don't respect Obama, he has not earned my respect. I do respect his position as president. Obama will also spend as much as bush by the time or before his presidency is over. According to the congressional budget office (CBO), the federal government will borrow $3.7 trillion dollars for fiscal year 2009-2011.
When Bush was throwing gigs in Iraq, and deepening America into debt, I didn't hear a single Rethuglican challenging the imbecile. Dick Cheney's company even made some money from the waste. The truth is those money were wasted in Iraq and Afhanistan. At least what President Obama is proposing is going to benefit the American people in the long run.
As for health care reform and job creation, in my mind they go hand in hand. First of all a government run, available health care product to all americans will free up jobs of those over 55 whose spouses are already retired because they are at an age to be eligible for medicare and THEY continue working so they can keep their insurance provided thru their job. Has anyone run those numbers? Second of all the waste of dollars can be helped thru a computer data base being set up for anyone who goes to a doctor, needs tests, has them done, is referred to a specialist who orders the same tests. With a data base system results can be available to all doctors after a patient signs a release form. Setting up this system would create lots of jobs. A time frame could be set up for each physicians office to comply by a certain date, creating tons of data entry jobs in doctors offices, hospitals, nursing homes, and all health care facilities. The expense could be subsidized by the government to the employers. Going over state lines with health insurance will not work. I speak thru personal experience of a time when my daughter was out of state at college and hurt her knee. Getting care for her was a nightmare, although I had insurance. The rich get richer and the poor get poorer, that's the way I view our current political system. In the end one's monetary worth counts for nothing when we leave this world, which we ALL will do one day. No amount of money will stop death.
That video is wrong on so many levels that it's almost comical. It's interesting how our President, and our country in general, is perceived around the world.
Yeah, it sure is interesting to see that around the world and here in America, our president(be very careful when you say that)is cool, suave, debonair, intelligent, fun, likable, good looking, well dressed, in touch with reality, knows the facts, can read, women love him, men love him, young people love him, old people love him and the only people who got anything to say negative are the KKK Tea Party criminals who are allowed to run rampant here on this site as well as all over america hating on the President. Their asses should be ashamed.
Two thoughts: It amazes me that the Republicans have such a strong position and a passion to reform the healthcare system, yet they neve once tried to address the plight of the 30M uninsured and the volumes of dropped individuals; the President should address the issue piece meal - start with forcing the insurance com...panies to accept the risk of insuring carriers. 2nd, put a ceiling on the $$ increase they can have within a year. It is ridculous to think that policies can be increased 400 fold (Anthem) over night!
--->>>MODERN MONEY
You try to make the point that because Brown won in Mass that ALL of the American People are over Obama. I can see where a small closed right wing mind might think that while grasping at straws to make sense of why you got PUONDED in the last national election. In truth according to the latest Gallup poll, Obama still has an approval rating of 54% which means that more people approve of his handling of America than actually voted for him!
Remember, when your precious "Dubya" came into office there was a budget SURPLUS which he almost immediately wiped out and took us back to deficit spending and this happened BEFORE 9/11 so you cant blame it on the terrorists. Think of it this way...If you are the head of a household that has been in financial trouble and then, after scrimping, saving and spending wisely, then you finally get ahead...what should your next move be? A short meaningless binge that wipes out all of your savings? Of course not! But thats exactly what Bush did!
All you right wing nuts who think the richest 10% should get a break on taxes for all the money they extracted form the people of this country through their banks, oil and energy companies need to sit back and shut up. The election is over. YOU LOST. Now its time to let the man whose ideals WON the election do the job that he said he was going to do.
