The latest and greatest on CNN iReport, brought to you by Team iReport.
The 2010 Olympics in Vancouver, British Columbia, have come to a close and we're really impressed with the great photos and videos that have come in. ChrisMorrow brought us great interviews with celebrity athletes like skier Lindsey Vonn as well as footage of the city scene, and AlbertArt showed us a stylistic view of Vancouver.
In accordance with the wondrous closing ceremonies, which featured a giant beaver and dancing Mounties, the iReports at the end of the Olympics have been particularly colorful. We got a glimpse of celebrations in the streets following Canada's men's hockey overtime win against the U.S. team. iReporter seeitnow described them particularly well to us early this morning, so we thought we'd share his words on the "biggest party on Earth":
"As I write this, bullhorns and trumpets are blaring away with no let up. The streets were overflowing with rowdy but peaceful people all ready to party until dawn, which should prove interesting since it's Sunday night and the city is supposed to return to normal by tomorrow morning.
Red and white were definitely the color of choice as the crowds gathered throughout downtown. The main art gallery with the prominent fountain was turned into a giant bubble bath as dozens of people decided tonight was the night to take a nice refreshing bath in the somewhat warm February evening weather.
Although numerous police were on the ready I saw nothing to suggest any trouble anywhere as I combed the streets looking for interesting characters to interview. Vancouverites have more the most part suffered through years of construction and traffic restrictions so now that it's all over there's a lot of pent up demand to finally realize, 'Hey we did it: we finished and we won.' Let's savour the moment for as long as we can."
Thanks for sharing the great iReports! Tell us what you thought about the Olympics in the comments area below.
Save our Earth from Pollution
I am an American who has been living in Vancouver for about 6 years. I love it here. After having lived in Metro Atlanta in 1996 during the summer games, I can tell you that these winter games were truly the people's games. Everyone I know had some part of these games, whether it was my sister in law being fortunate enough to be at the Closing Ceremonies or whether it was just celebrating in the streets after the Canadian men's hockey team won gold.
Vancouver made it possible for all of us to come together and truly experience something memorable and exciting. Even if the world didn't watch, it doesn't matter because Canada watched. Canada will remember this as their best and shining moment. Canada had to prove itself on a global scale, and I think it succeeded.
I am proud to be a Vancouverite, I am proud to live here and be part of something bigger than myself. I had fun, I saw and did things I never thought were possible. In spite of a few hiccups, it has been a job well done and I salute EVERYONE involved in making it so great!

Dear Sir,
My name is Rohit Vashisht, I am 38 years old and in the IT business. It's about Plato 'The Republic' and Government that I want to talk about.
Fromn what I have heard not sure but it seems that 1% of USA owns 99% of the wealth of USA, also 5 % of the world own 75% of the worlds wealth.
We have senators and congressmen being all about lobby's, of Wall Street, and Fortune 500 Companies. People who stood still when all or most manufacturing wealth went away to almost slave labour nation China. I have always wondered about America even when it was the sole superpower of the world had almost no public transport in majority of the country, and with people dying because of no health care.
I belong to the Abraham Lincoln school of thought 'Governemnt of the people, by the people, and for the people'. Whch to me means that Government of the the people not the superstar seators and congressmen with their lobby money.
So in keeping to my school of thought I feel that the bills that are passed in congress and senate should be discussed by and voted upon by the ordinar man the citizen of any nation. We can in these days have a special application on our mobile phones and vote for all that comes across the desk of senetors and congressmen. Consequently totaly remove from the picture the congressmen and senators.
It may mean eduication about issues, but in the days of Walter Lewin on ocw.mit.edu it can be done.
So what do you say about that, my dear Sir?
