The latest and greatest on CNN iReport, brought to you by Team iReport.
We’ve certainly seen our share of documentaries on CNN iReport, but we were really impressed with two recently posted on the site.
vijays often makes short videos about schoolchildren and their views on the world. This time, he took a look at some older students who gave up on school altogether. In the two-part documentary “Dropout Nation,” vijays explores the problem of high school dropouts, and some possible solutions. He and his co-producer, Whitney Keyes, say they were concerned about the U.S. “becoming a nation of haves and have-nots.”
vijays explains that their view was that, “Facts don’t tell this story. The kids do. Our interviews include kids that dropped out for various reasons, kids that chose to live on the streets and at-risk youth.” Check out the first part of the documentary above, and part two here.
While vijays looked at problems in the U.S., iUnderground crossed the border to one of the most dangerous areas of Mexico – Juarez. He says the situation wasn’t always that dire in Juarez; he had visited there several times in the past, at one point for cheap dentistry.
He decided to pay a return visit to some of his old haunts and bring along his camera. The footage he captured really gives viewers the flavor of a specific location, and a look at Juarez beyond the headlines of violence between drug cartels. Watch both parts of this iReport here.
Happy birthday Chuck and thanks for supporting the Iraq war where so many young men and women lost their lives needlessly.
First Off the notion that the current health care is a "Right" (a just claim or title, whether legal, prescriptive, or moral) that all people deserve is incorrect. Health care today was developed from people who spent years of their life studying and doing research in each of the individual medications people get everyday; medical imaging that help doctors better diagnosis problems, and the operations that all their hard work deserves to be rewarded. People before our current time did not have access to health care and many of them had long healthy lives without the current advances in medicine. The current advances in medicine may add 1-2 years or more to a person’s life or improve the quality of their life after an accident or unlucky break (cancer). However, these current advances are an additional luxury we have today. This luxury is not free and it is not necessary for everyone to have it (is it necessary for someone who is 72 y/o with cancer to live to 75?). It may be desirable to live to 75 or longer, but not necessary or a right. Therefore, this expensive luxury should be purchased, the people who can afford can, those who can't can't. The people who can and choose to either worked hard for their money or got lucky, those who can't either didn't work for their money or were unlucky.
It is NOT the "secular" responsibility of the richest Americans to pay for everyone's health care just because they can. It may morally be their responsibility, but that is not for a "secular" government to decide. So if the richest American's decide that they want to help people get health care, than great they can help, but if they don't then they shouldn't have too, it's the United States home of freedom. Since health care is far from a "Right" than the government has no secular or even moral obligation to make sure everyone in the country has great health care.
Health Insurance companies have a right to charge people what they want to do. That's why other insurance companies come around to compete with them. Now people should be allowed to purchase insurance from any health insurance company they want too, states should not limit that. Opening the market should encourage health insurance companies to compete with each other and lower prices to level which they can afford and still develop a profit. If people don't want to buy health care than they can role the dice and hope not to end up in the hospital or be willing to pay the bill themselves. A change in health-care that allows people to have a larger variety in health care choices (not at the expense of the taxpayer) is needed. Tort reform is also needed, because the increased in waste of spending due to legal issues for doctors is staggering. Of the entire expensive tests doctor's order only 10% of them are actually used to make a diagnosis (a very common test "complete blood count" CBC can cost may range from $100-$200 per test).
- Health care is not a right
- The richest Americans should not be forced to pay for everyone's health care
- People who want to contribute money for other's who don't have health care is a great and noble quality and they should do that, allow people to add their money to a tax pool used for health care for people who don't have it (donations not mandates)
- Buying insurance across state lines
- Even tort reform is not necessary, but would help to reduce wasteful spending in health care

Kids today aren't too stupid to see the writing on the wall (that previous generations have left for them to read at their horror). Where we boomers only had nuclear annihlation to tremble in fear at their future includes global religious warfare, insolvency of the social safety netting, and yes, the very extinction of the species from living in its own filth. Quite a plate-load, hmm? I wonder if I wouldn't see the irrelevancy in getting "educated" too.
Tillman808....I just read your post and well....I think I can sum up my feelings by posting a line from an Adam Sandler movie.
"Mr. Madison, what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul."

Read the book "Poverty is a Choice in America: How and Why Millions Turn Their Backs on the American Dream."
If students have problems in school it's the fault of the parents. They did not start them young, and they did not monitor their educational developments.
There is no reason to fail in America, especially if you are determined to succeed.
Hears why we have all this wasting spending. Obama is Satin. He wants to make America broke by the year 2012. Thats when the world will end. The Mian Indians have proven that. Satin will then take over all the banks and control all our money. From there he will try to take over the world. But in the end, God is more powerful and Satin will lose
