While we're waiting for everyone, I want to point out something cool that has just launched.

CNN.com's Belief blog will be covering how religion impacts the news.

One of the first stories uses the iReport church sign photos we solicited a while back.

Here's the link:

So does anyone have any interesting iReports in the works?

May 20, 2010

I'm wondering if iReport is still sending the "i report for CNN" T-shirts to every vetted iReporters. I got one back in 2007 when I filed my first iReport but didn't receive any for my subsequent iReports. The T-shirt came in very handy when we as iReporters do not actually have press credentials.

We don't send the shirts out for every vetted iReport. Like I said, our folks send them out to people who either do something special or have done a lot of things that have been approved.

We have a limited postage budget, so we're still working to make sure we get them to as many people as possible

@KCRep -- We do too, but we don't want to make assignments if we don't have someone who can do something with the great content y'all submit.

There's nothing more frustrating than seeing all these great iReports for a project we don't have time to get to.

We have created a few new ones. Give me a second and I'll find them.

May I suggest to increase size of the images on the slideshow. The CEO of Kiva.org told me that as they increase the size of the images on there website, the donation and funding increase proportionally.

Also, it would be nice to be able to include captions to the images and be able to scroll thru the images in full screen mode. Currently, you can only view 1 full screen image at a time.

There's also a new assignment asking people to remember back to the time when the Atlanta Child Murders were going on. That's a new type of project that we've never tried before.

I want to know why americans especially the celeberties and mostly people who get so much money spend it on cars and worthless things instead of giving it to the needy and trying to help with the oil problem maybe they could build a wildlife foundation home for the animals until the oil problem is fixed surly if one person cant do it theres more then one celeberty in the world yet they dont care abt the enviroment im just wondering why these celeberties are not involved with the enviroment they should be and should help out more often then.

Stop demanding that the government owes you something.

I wonder why no news organization mentioned in their story about the rearrest of MORDECHAI VANUNU, whistle-blower about Israel's nuclear weapons program, that he was nominated for the Nobel Peace Price some 18 times... and that he is the recipient of numerous international peace awards. It's strange. Pundits on any network always get recognition for much less.

I have lived all my life in Jamaica and Dudus have been the forerunner for Mr Seaga and Bruce golding. This guy have committed so much crime on their behalf in order to keep them in power. In return he is guaranteed a safe passage to do all his illegal trade. He controls and benefit financially from revenues that rightfully belong to the government. He is not the only "don" that works for the jamaica Labour Party. there are dozens more. Bruce Golding does not want him to be turned over to the USA he want to have him killed: You all don,t understand Goldind:The primeminister supports Dudus. Members of parliment, the police fore are all employed by this man. In the last uprising in Tivoli when police tried to enter, in the middle of the gun war Mr seaga was there with the gun men informing them of every move that the police force was making and these are the leaders. I am ashamed and sad to see women using their children as human shield so that the police cannot get to these murderers. But most of all when will the United States understand the impact of their guns on ordinary peoples live. When will they put control on their weapons falling in the hand of thugs in other country. And most of all when will the USA take responsibility for the part they play in the 70,s when manley was in power and they thought that he was communist. Have we all forgotten the role played by the Us. Well ladies and gentlemen these are the children of the 70s that witnessed all the horrific violence then that are now treatening to crash this great country of Jamaica. Go read up on the USA CIA involvement in jamaica in the 70,s it will all come to light.

Has it occurred to anyone that BP is protecting its investors and business and that it does not care too much about anything else?  Maybe if the US government was able to place a freeze/hold on BP stocks and a freeze/hold on paying out of dividends we might get a solution to this crisis.  Something should be done to freeze BP business dealings until the oil well is capped/;lugged and the cleanup is considered accomplished by those who live and work in the once pristine Gulf area.  This disaster will take years to do just basic clean up, many people will never recover their loss of jobs/life styles.  President Obama, what can we do??

Why don't BP try to stop the oil problem just they do in heart surgury with a stint. Use a high pressure hydralic hose with an expansion valve on it. Insert the appratus as far as it will go, then expand it and force in concrete to seal it off. Even if it slowed it down half way to lower the ouput, they could work with that

Interesting Idea about the Stent. I worked for a cardiology practice. BP should be criminally charged for this. They were "allegedly fraudulent." That is against the law. They just do not care. It is not their ocean, it is ours. I hope they never ever drill there again, anyone for that matter in the Gulf. It is just not safe. I also hope this puts all of the people involved out of business for good. This will cost Billions. How can you put a price on dead animals? They can't bring them back. I say boycott all of their items forever.

I'm not sure this is the place to mention this, but has anyone involved in this oil spill ever considered using a hydrolic press to pinch or fold over the pipe that's leaking oil into our beautiful ocean? That way the remaining small opening could be welded shut. I mean, come on, when your garden hose is spewing water and you want to stop it, you don't stick your finger in the end of it do you? You fold it over or pinch it to stop the flow. Can BP not see the forest for the trees?

Just a thought.

Oh, and by the way.....has anyone checked out the Book of Revelations, Chapter 8, verse 8 in the NIV version of the bible? I don't claim to be an overly religious person but I stumbled upon those verses by accident the other night. Remember seeing those images of that huge oil platform ablaze and falling into the ocean? And now, all that oil in the sea has taken on a very bloody look to it. This BP thing will sure make you start wondering about where things stand in our world.

I'm with AC when it comes to the live streaming of the underwater effort to plug this blasting leak.  Mankind drilled the hole into the planets crust and the equipment to control the gusher failed for various reasons.  Most important at this time is to plug the leak, ASAP and save the enviornment for all concerned.  It's my comment to ask for some homeschoolin' right now.  Tell me about the oil leak below the sea bed.  How deep is the hole to where the oil was stored?  How big is the storage cavity?  Has our earth had eruptions of this sort in it's studied past?  Those Scientists and Flower Children who know much about our planet and how it behaves, could take this opportunity to educate the world about the accidental opening of a holding vessel of oil created by the earth itself.  I don't have a great education as to where oil comes from, how it got there, why it's there, what purpose does it serve to the earth?  It just seems to me, Mother Nature's Earth has been disturbed by the carelessness of mankind.  This unfortunate hole in the earth is spewing it's guts out.  This oil  is natural to the planet.  The Exxon Valdez Oil had been handled by man.  His blend of oil is much different from one that is natural and gushing straight out of the bowels of the earth.  I would like to take this opportunity and watch live streaming and learn more about this kind of oil and the different impact it will have as compared to Alaska if it were available.  This is truly a great opportunity to bond with our earth through it's manmade wound.  We watch as a plug is tried over and over,  We also watch the power of the gusher.  We have seen many oil gushers 'blow' in the movies, on the surface..............this is our first underwater visual contact.  I would like to become more educated with Nature's oil, and  gas, underwater and  where the oil beds are.  Next, I'd like to know why BP is drilling off our shores and not their own?

Thank you.
