The latest and greatest on CNN iReport, brought to you by Team iReport.
Please join us here in the blog for our weekly roundtable discussion. We want to hear your ideas for improving CNN iReport, so if you've got a great story idea or a design suggestion we'd like to hear it. CNN iReport producers will be also be here to answer any questions you have.
We'll open comments at 3 p.m. ET and will talk to you then.
hello cnn ireport
Hi everyone,
Hope you're all doing well. Sorry we weren't able to be here last week.
Hi all
Hi all!
I'm glad I made it here to join in, let's see what's going on
Hey professirx - nice to have you here
Hi @all
Hello
hey dave , will and tron
Hello iReport world…
I’m new here so I apologize if I bring up ideas that have already been discussed or functionality that is already available. I have only a few ideas listed below:
1. If a user follows you there is a good chance that you would also be interested in the reports that they post. Maybe having the ability to see who is following you would allow for more exposure throughout the community.
2. Implementing a function that allows one to view assignments as they are added to the “Assignments” page (a ‘Newest’ tab or feed if you will) would allow more efficient knowledge transfer to those that keep current on what CNN would like to see us write about.
3. A search function in iReport that will respond with user’s handles and current iReport articles would increase the ease with which users can connect as well as provide a list of iReports pertinent to the topic a user is interested in reading about.
4. A notification preference that sends an e-mail to a user when a thread they have commented on has received further comment by another user.
Thanks for making yourselves available to comments and suggestions! In the few days since I have joined iReport I have noticed an exciting sense of community and teamwork among iReporters and iReport staff. Happy hunting!
-Joe
Hey everyone,
I never got to participate in one of these before; hope everyone is well.
hello hank
Hola Y Buenas Tardes :)
@David...Since weekends are a bit slow on iReports do you think we could add an "assignment" (but not really an assignment) like, "weekend fun" where we could just post silly stuff for the weekend? That way those of us that do post such silly stuff won't have to clog up "sound off".. What do you think?
I'm also new to iReport. I've uploaded three stories. My only concern is that the stories aren't being used on CNN's website b/c of where I work. I'm not sure I understand this rule...
Can anyone on the iReport staff explain further?
@david, quick question. Did the deadline mashup video for the soccer world cup pass?
hello sarver , nav
I just read about Race to the Top and the help provided by the federal govt to schools that were failing.
How about we talk about school systems that are starting to fail because of the poor economy, failed levies.
Wazzup folks.
@jcphilley - those are grear suggestions!
Just to let everyone know, jsarverCNN was our intern last semester and is helping us out a few days a week.
A lot of people may have talked to him, but he didn't work on Thursdays so he wasn't able to attend the roundtables.
We've also have a new intern who started this week. Her handle is ccostello3. She's been vetting a lot of iReports so some of you may have already met her.
I got locked out somehow.. I just got in???
Howdy
Happy Thursday y'all!
Thanks and welcome @JCPhilley
Hi, I'm new as a reporter & as a viewer of iReport. it took me a while until i found the search in iReport, the search on the top of the page is a search in Google.
I think it will be helpful to put I report search on the main iReport bar.
T'nx
Hello Hello!
Another beautiful day in San Diego! :)
HI All, What is the plan for the G8/G20 summit coming up is cnn planning to have reporters out in the protest crowd?
@DesireG - great to see you!
@Sangriel
I think my community is going to have to do some unique changing of its school system. Too much money is spent on vendors and staff overhead. Hardly, any money gets down to the needs of the students.
@MeirL I agree with that. It's rather annoying to find all those google results when I'm looking for a story on cnn.
Fun iReport NYC meetup JoyfulGypsy. Thank you for hosting! :)
Nice day in Upper Michigan after getting 2 inches of rain:) My tomato plants are doing great now.. Did you see my i-report of my tomato garden?
Thanks and welcome @MeirL
Hello @ChrisMorrow, @KyleHD, @JoyfulGypsy, @Newtecradio, @DaElmer
@hhanks
It's great to be here :)
@mcintron: Thanks!
@hhanks, nice to see you here from the beginning this time;)
My pleasure Chris. It was really great to meet you and Marty and to get to spend some time together. Fun! :o)
JCPhilley -- These are really good suggestions. We're looking at making some upgrades to the site in the coming months, so we'll take a look at those.
@hhanks
Hi Henry and all CNN Producers. Hope Atlanta has good weather today.
Hello to all! Have to run back to work but wanted to say it was great to give Chris Morrow and her husband Marty the tour of NYC along with Joyful Gypsy and her husband Mitch. We had a great time- and got to share experiences and fun stories and pizza and hot dogs and mezcal!
Cheers to all of you in this great community!!!
T'sup Lulis!
Julio/NYC
Welcome @Sangriel
Good to see you @sjunat55
Hi Henry!!
Howdy Henry. :o)
One suggestion would be to have a direct message OUT box so we can go back and refer to messages we have sent.
Hello @KCRep
Thanks Sjunat55
Don't forget = I will be back to NYC on the 17th :)
We have a couple stories to do!
Who is working on the world cup soccer mash up video? Is the deadline over? I didn't see it in assignments...
I might be going to Summer Fest in Milwaukee, WI when American Idol finalists will be there.. Trying to figure out how to get back stage;)
Wow I'm late. I gave catch up first. Hello all.
Welcome @adriana71
@Sjunat55 - Cheers!
In Wisconsin it is appeartly legal to evict a veteran for displaying the American Flag in public view because they landlord doesn't want any flags/banners displayed. Thats just redicilous. I would do a report on patritism then and now, but I am not good enough to do a report by myself perhaps have a mentorship program or a forum where people can get together to work on projects together that are pre approved by CNN with ideas submitted by us as well as some of CNN's ideas too.
@davidw: Thanks!
Is generally a weekly forum for suggestions or is there a suggestion box of sorts? As I have just started here at iReport, I may have further suggestions down the line. As for reporting opportunity suggestions, it might take me longer to think of some of those! I have no previous experience with news/reporting and haven't the faintest idea what makes good news.
Thanks @mcintron that reminds me, this video and the video of "The A-Team" cast members responding to iReporter questions, are both on CNN.com now!
Pass the ball around the world - http://www.cnn.com/video/#/video/sports/2010/06/10/iReport.world.cup.cnn
"The A-Team" - http://www.cnn.com/video/#/video/showbiz/2010/06/10/natpkg.a-team.irpt.junket.cnn
Hi Adriana71 and all over iReporters!!!
What are you working on?
Ok caught up on convos. It's been scattered showers and thunder storms in ATL @chrismorrow
@michelle1234 - We couldn't approve that video because you shot it for the military, which would put it into a category with handout video. CNN has a lot of rules about not handout video except in special circumstances.
If you shoot videos on your own time and want to share them, that would be great.
Your video was really good. I would encourage everyone to take a look at it: http://www.ireport.com/docs/DOC-450266
@hhanks - thanks for the link. I met some soccer players that were interested but I see it's too late. :(
How about a refresh button at the bottom of the blog? :D
@David....did you see my suggestion?
@michelle1234
Great report! & professional.
@JCPhilley have you found a particular type of iReport you like to work on: living, politics, entertainment, etc?
@hhanks Thanks I saw the video abt the A-Team.. Neat.
@iReportProducers
We talked about an iReport conference. Any chance it will happen this year?
I Have a Bugle.. My 6 yr old can play better than me:)
@Akadoka -- We are working on a sort of series of training assignments to improve their skills. We love the idea of collaborative projects, and are working on ways to make collaborations easier.
But I would encourage you to tell your stories the best way you can. Your passion for a story will take you a long way.
A lot of iReporters had very basic production skills but they've just gotten better and better. It's really cool to watch.
Just to ask my question again since it has yet to be answered is CNN, looking for Ireporters to cover the protests at the G8/G20 meetings.
@hhanks I saw the A-Team Video too.. Very impressed as usual:):):)
@hhanks @davidw I have a video about the Tomato plants I am growing to give away this year. I didn't know where to put them.. It is in the "How-to" section I think..
@newtecradio
where is the g8/g20 meetings?
are you covering it?
Is there a link to the bird houses and bird baths project yet?
@KCRep -- I did see it, I had to call into a phone meeting so I'm a little bit behind.
We'll be bringing back the weekend assignments at some point, but I don't know exactly when.
We generally don't create assignments unless we're planning to do something with the submissions.
I would encourage people not to flood any assignment. You can upload up to 10 photos and/or videos in each iReport and a single iReport with 10 images is a lot more useful than 10 iReports with a single image.
@hhanks - I'm looking forward to seeing the 'pass the ball' video. I think it's such a cool idea. Will watch it after the meeting. :)
I also noticed for people who don't have webcam or access to video such as me are limited because all the webacms and videos are in one place and we can only comment. Are you going to make it possible to post a story without a photo?
Just a sneak preview of your iReport future... we will be offering up tips for making a better "Sound-off"/iReport interview video soon!
Sorry about that @mcintron but hope you enjoy the video.
@jsarverCNN: I haven't thought about focussing on any one type of iReport. That being said, I joined the community with an interest in being a jack of all, master of none I suppose. The pieces I have written have been simply about me and my views. Opinion pieces are enjoyable regardless of the subject as long as there is some interest. But I wouldn't mind getting my feet wet with something more newsworthy. That being said, I would be doing just that and getting my feet wet! I suppose I would rely on the assignments page or any suggestions from others to identify something more newsworthy.
I just watched the "pass the ball" video and it is fantastic!!! Kudos to whoever put that together!
@Newtecradio - Sorry for the delay. The short answer is that I don't know what CNN's plans are. I'm sure they'll be covering the summit and it wouldn't surprise me if they had reporters in the crowd.
If you're going to be there, we'd love for you to share your story. I would encourage you to be safe and to obey police instructions if you are there.
Desire G
Yes, I think the focus is being removed from children to other politics. I think we need an honest to Goodness focus on the net result.
Gotta run off to a meeting now. Good to see everyone again. Have a great weekend. See you next week. Adios. :o)
@mcintron: ps the video is great even without sound! I can't listen to it at the moment since I'm in the bullpen at work. :P
@hhanks
Will you start using more soundoffs on CNN.com political sections and others?
ciao JoyfulGypsy :)
@JCPhilley -- We do these roundtables pretty much every week. We had to cancel last week, but they're generally at this time every week.
You can also email questions or comments to contact@ireport.com
If you need to reach me, my email is david.williams@turner.com
Also would like to know about vetting, any idea as to why my article has not been vetted?
Our children pushed towards failure???
@JCPhilley do you know of any special events going on in Boston. The first thing that comes to mind is the NBA finals. If the Celtics were to win I'm sure some first person video of the celebration would be awesome! I know a lot of great iReports are responses to national news and also first person accounts of local news.
Hey, a question abt a video I did on pushing POTUS to show more emotion abt BP Oil spill. Itdidn't float any1's boat?
Looking at the vetting numbers, I noticed that a lot fewer stories have been vetted lately...is that because a lot of staff is on vacation? The front page at iReport doesn't seem to change much?
@adriana71
Link please?
@Ewillies1961
How is Houston? :)
Yes @EWillies1961, we are always on the lookout for good commentary videos to offer up to the web and TV side. For example, we recently offered up several commentaries on the oil spill and the Gaza flotilla situation for use on air and online.
@Akadoka -- We are experimenting with text only assignments, but usually we require a photo, video or an audio clip.
A lot of digital cameras now have video modes (even the cheap ones) and one of our iReporters even shot a Web show with a digital point and shoot camera.
@ChrisMorrow
Hi Chris, Hot with 100% humidity. Can't work outside today.
@adriana71 - I will send that along to someone working on a reaction piece on that very topic.
@sjunat55 - are you still here? I saw your great photos in jpg mag. And while there I saw a great idea for a CNN weekend assignment. When they renew it, of course. :)
@hhanks
Cool!
Michael: dude
Michael: you should campaign for it to be ireport! with an exclamation point...then it's kinda like report! in spanish
From a coworker sitting next to me!
Just a moment for my response on the previous comments directed to me.
And sorry @adriana71 that was my mistake, that should have had a stamp on it earlier.
@david w and @chris morrow sorry had to pick up my son from school but as to answer ty david and being a freelance reporter for the newspapers and some on-line websites along with my own I will be very safe and obey the police instructions. @chris morrow The G8/G20 meetings are being held at the same time in Toronto and Huntsville ON, CA and yes I am planing with my Father-inlaw who is published photographer to cover this event and we also provide live video if possible.
@Mcintron -- The iReport homepage isn't as dynamic as we want it to be because it's kind of hard to update. We're working on that.
Everyone does have a lot of projects on their plates, and it is vacation season, but we're really trying to put more emphasis on vetting.
Heya everyone!
I need to go soon. This is for the iReport Producers.
We talked about an iReport conference. Any chance it will happen this year?
@Newtecradio -- Cool, we'll keep an eye out for your stuff.
Hello @zdan
Hi zdan :)
Hey everyone! I am the new iReport intern for the summer! I'm glad to be here, and I can't wait to meet you all!
Who does the vetting for tech/stargazers? I uploaded a story on string theorist Brian Greene, NASA Nobel prize winner Dr. Mather and some astronauts (at a tweetup) and it wasn't vetted. I feel bad because I think those guys are amazing.
@hhanks Don't fret about it. I had thought I had made a salient point. Thanks
TY david I will contact you later with more info on what, where and how my father inlaw are planning to cover.
@ccostello3
Welcome! Nice to meet you. :)
Happy Summer!
@ChrisMorrow -- I really don't know. It would be really cool and it's something we're excited about, but I don't have any other information on that.
Welcome @ccostello3 Nice to meet you.
@davidw: Thanks for the heads up on how to suggest ideas and the frequency of these roundtables.
@jsarverCNN: I appreciate the info. I work not too far from the arena and will probably be having some drinks in the area after work tonight. If I can make it I'll see if I can get any footage for us.
There is also a Boston events list on boston.com that I can refer to. I'll see if there is anything interesting happening in the near future via that resource.
I am almost 1/5 of the way to one mil views..lol
@ccostello3
Welcome. Hope you enjoy our rantings :)
Hmm ok I give up my laptop keeps eating some of post.
@DaElmer LOL
@ccostello....welcome!!
If I do work with someone else would it be possible to have both names included on the report or would one ireporter get the credit?
@JCPhilley -- Sounds great. I would encourage you and everyone in the CNN iReport community to work on the stories that you feel passionate about. Preparing an iReport can be a lot of work, so you might as well do something that's important to you.
@Akadoka - Where do you live?
Hello Everybody,
CNN is asking us iengineers to come up with more idears.. We need a better video even now.. We just heard from Mr. Cameron this week that he has the capabilities to film what is going on in HD for us iengineers who are trying to save the our planet. Could someone please demand this service, so we can have complete information on the crime scene down below. We need to know what is really going on down there! in order to fix it.
@Akadoka -- it's possible to have multiple iReporters' names on a story, but we don't have a way to credit both users with the page views an iReport gets.
Hey my bit for @JohnKingUSA was tagged I have to wonder if they'll use it.
Gotta go.
Have a great day all! :)
@adriana71 - I don't know how they do that. I haven't been working with the JK USA team yet.
See ya Chris Morrow
I noticed J/K went two weeks without using any iReport.
@davidw Not sure I'll get to watch JK USA today. We are going to celebrate our 15th wedding Anniversary
@CNN team, I really like the idea of putting a deadline date on assignments when possible. Is that something you're considering doing more often?
KCRep did you get a Coffee Cup?
@ChrisMorrow
Cya Chris
@mcintron -- We like the deadlines too. I think it gives everybody a better shot at being involved because you don't have as many cases of an iReporter submitting a photo after the producer is done with the story.
Also would like to know about vetting, any idea as to why my article has not been vetted?
Well, since it's kinda quiet today, I would like to suggest an assignment. It's a photography assignment. The idea is to take pictures of 'found stuff' on the street. Not trash, but things that people leave or drop on the street for whatever reason. It's from a photo magazine and I think it might be fun.
@Sangriel -- I haven't looked closely at your report, but we get a lot more iReports than we can possibly vet. So we often have to focus on things that we think will be needed by CNN, which is usually original photos or video.
@DaElmer....yes, I did get a coffee mug...I use it everyday lol
@everyone -- I've got to go, but I want to thank everyone for participating. It was great to see so many new people. I hope to talk to you all again next week.
KC I did too, I love it!!
@everyone, have a great week and catch ya's next time. :)
@david check out the link I sent you:)
Have a great week everyone:)
cya next week
Thanks David I understand that maybe you will consider doing something in the future about what I bring up in my article. With the issues coming up in the novermber ballot I think it would be interesting to see what other school systems are doing to stay away from state standards.
Bye @all see you next time!
Thanks again iReport staff. I like this forum and look forward to being a part of it again!
Oh there was interest in using that outside of JKUSA @adriana71, but who knows, maybe they will use as well?
@everyone take care and see you next week also if anyone else is planning to cover the G8/G20 summit let me know. Thanks
Good Day Everyone;)
Very cool @hhanks.
Hi all have a GREAT WORLD CUP thanks Larena
Good day everyone!
opps as usual I arrived late Hapy weekend thanks
Hi, everyone! I think I am late!
I can't understand why this well has not been stopped. I wanted to attach a diagram but was unable to do so. A tapered plug, two pipe hangers and two turnbuckles will be needed. Attach one pipe hanger on top of the plug and another below the flange on the riser pipe. then use two turnbuckles on each side to tighten down the plug down in the riser pipe. After it has been tighten there should be very little if any oil coming out from around it. Then start pumping concrete down the well. If there is any oil coming out around between the riser pipe and the plug, the gravel and sand in the concrete will seal it.
This has to be stopped and stopped now.
I have another idear, iknow it is late but hopefuly some dedicated inews person will read these late posts. It would be cool if we could somewhow link ireports amongst eachother.. in messages or comment section... it would make navigating the cite easier for many of us especialy when refrencing older ireports.
also be able to refrence ireports within ireports
jc philly #3&4 good suggestions
My comment is more of a question. Why do reports indicate the economy is getting better and go on about the thousands of individuals not claiming unemployment this month? It does not take a rocket scientists to know these individuals unemployment benefits have expired!! Come to Michigan, I guarantee you will see the economy and jobs still suck. And shame on the senators who are dragging feet to extend benefits and take numerous recesses before even considering it. But hey is there some other country we can donate to?
I would like to tell you my idea to stop the leak in the Gulf. I feel if you can design a huge retractable funnel (like a flexible straw)with weights in the inner ring. Then lower the ring over the leak,once it is in place and weighed down extend the funnel to the surface of the water. This will contain the oil in the funnel. Then they can suction it out of the funnel into other barges. I feel if anyone can have my design made it would be you. Thank you for giving me the chance for my idea to be heard. I hope this helps you.
I DONT UNDERSTAND WHAT IS GOING ON WITH THE SPILL. DONT THE PEOPLE OF THE GULF COAST, AND I LIVE IN THE GULF COAST, THAT BP IS GOING TO DO NOTHING BUT CLAIM BANKRUPCY AND REALLY STICK IT TO THE us AND THE PEOPLE. IT DOESNT MATTER HOW MUCH THE PRESIDENT THREATENS TO KICK ANYONE ASS OR TELL THEM BY LETTER THAT THEY ARE REQUESTED TO COME TO THE WHITE HOUSE FOR A MEETING WITH THAD ALLEN AND THE PRESIDENT. AS AN ACCOUNT, I SEE BP JUST CALLING IT QUITS AND MOVING ON TO OTHER PARTS OF THE WORLD.
The worst thing being dome right now is the use of chemical dispersants. They turn the oil into little globs that will everntually fall to the ocean floor. The currents will continue to bring these on shore for years to come and it is what will do the most damage to marine life and long lasting harm to the beaches. Surface oil that comes to the beaches can be cleaned up and is gone for good and it does not go deep enough to exterminate the deep water life. Rememers these globs are still oil which will stick to all vegetation, coral, etc.
I live here on the gulf coast, and I can tell you this, I worked for BP for 15 yrs and they will not go Bankrupt. PROMISE! I no longer work for them and I haven't for 8yrs. And the reason I don't, you will not find it shocking. I worked in the HSSE filed and traveled back and forth to the oil/gas rigs. I have done many internal audits on the workers and equipment. I came across some SHOCKING findings during one of my audits. The EMERGENCY SHUT DOWN SYSTEM was by-passed in order for BP workers to work on a crucial piece of equipment. They didn't want to shut in the line, so they took a short cut, put everyone's lives in jepordy just to save a buck. I wrote up the finding, tried to report it and then was terminated from my job. This goes to show you how BP functions as a company and how they cherish their worker's lives. It sickens me to NO end that their carelessness and selfishness has turned into a Gulf Coast crisis and now leaves many familes left without jobs, and the wildlife devestated. Actually, there are really no words to describe how I personally feel toward BP not to mention what they have done to "OUR" Gulf Coast.
Gulf Oil Spill
There is one thing that BP is not telling us or, They themselfs do not relize it. The problem in stoping the oil leak is not the preasure but the volume of oil in the cavity. By drilling another hole into this cavity, it will not reduce the preasure because the volume of oil is still there. What i BP would try and do next is to send down hydrolic crimpers and try to pinch the pipe. What ever size or tonage required to pinch it is avalible because i work with and repair hyd crimpers, pumps and rams. This would slow down or hope fully stop the flow.
New Blog
How Heathcare and Medicare and Medicade use Medco to rip you off. It doesnt matter how much you pay the insurance company every month. It doesnt matter how much your boss pays the insurance company or the PEO. It doesnt matter how much the government pays Medco.
Medco will do everything in its power to deny you the medicines you need, no matter what it will do to your body based on cost. They made 16.9 billion in profit last quarter.
In my opinion as is this whole article, one day they will only cover asprin at 1000 dollars a week and after that cuts into their profits too much, they might pay for the dirt to cover you up when you are dead and smelly.
They cut the only medication that will work for my acid reflux which is Protonix. First they cut off paying for the generic at the drug store which is 90 dollars at Walmart for ONE month. Then they had it priced so you could buy the brand name through mail order cheaper through their damned online mail service. NOW they stopped paying for it all together.
When my flap for my esphogus no longer works HOW MUCH WILL MY INSURANCE COMPANY PAY FOR THAT VS YOUR PROFIT?
This is not the only story I have heard about. I also heard they denyed my buddies heart meds they paid for last year.
Is Obamacare the relief we have been looking for or are they still going to stick it to us AGAIN AND AGAIN? By the way I would boycott ANY Insurance that uses MEDCO or even considers it.
I'm new to this blog thing. First off I would like to say that I am a very opinionated young lady. What really caught my attention on the cnn channel is the story about the Atlanta child murders. As I sit here and watch this monster and look at the photos of the children I am just enraged at the whole situation. First i'm pissed with this Wayne Williams character because what he did was horrible to take the life of children he has to be a really sick person and he should have the same punishment that he did to these children. Second i'm really pissed at the police officers in Atlanta at the time beacause of their ignorance and stupidity because the children were black. I dont give a damn if they were purple those stupid ass police officers should have took it serious after the first chlid went missing. These were children that never got the chance to live full lives, these children could have been teachers, lawyers, doctors, mayors, and most importantly fathers/mothers. You Know it hurts me because I couldnt do anything bout the situation,I wasnt even born when these events were goin on but as a young person and someone who cares for children as much as i do i wish that I could get next to Wayne Williams and put him in a choke hold . I have no pitty for this monster who doesnt deserve to be called a man or a human.What he did to those children he will pay for it in hell. He knows what he did he know he's guilty. People arent just gonna lie on the same person, I mean different people who have no contact with each other say it was the same man.Now that the death penalty is in action I belive he should get that, he killed all those children prison time isnt enough he killed only god knows how many children so he does not deserve to be walkin around still lying about what he know in his worthless heart that he did. I just wish that someone else would come forth and voice their opions and get somthing else done about this jackass of a person. I'm deeply hurt for those families of mothers, sisters, brothers and friends that had to burry their love ones.
The relief well will not work. It will only syphon off about 25% of the pressure/flow from the original well. The only way to stop the flow is to blow the well at a depth of 800-1000 feet by sending a smaller casing, say 8" filled with explosives at different levels down the original well casing. Why BP is not doing this is unknown.
WHAT I THINK WE SHOULD DO ABOUT THE OIL SPILL IN THE GULF OF MEXICO!!!!!!
I am known as a person with a lot of knowledge, but only online, I make this statement because I believe we have a solution to the problem and I think this solution is a 100 percent fix to the problem with the exception of the clean up....
I think you guys have a good strategy on clean up for today's standards of course it can get better. I think you should look at CNN's whole news cast today for 6-12-2010, PLEASE DO NOT TAKE THIS TO OFFENSE, BUT I THINK WE CAN FIX THIS IF WE WORK AS A TEAM.
MY IDEA:
Use a cylinder of Concrete or metal something that can defeat the buoyancy of the water, and if possible make it tall enough like a building that big cities, like New York, Chicago and etc. USE 2 CYLINDERS OF DENSE MATTER ANCORED TO THE SHORE AND FLOWN OR FLOATED IN BY HELICOPTER OR SHIPS. , EITHER USE A DOUBLE HOLLOWED OUT METTAL CYLINDER THEN FILL IT WITH CONCRETE MADE WITH ROCKS AND A ADVANCED CONCRETE SOLUTION FOR A STRONGER LONGER LASTING COMPOUND. AND MAKE ONE CYLINDER WIDER THAN THE OTHER ONE
Make it hallow,, Then after you consumed the information from todays CNNs broadcast,, perferably about the kids with the boyancy strategy,, developed by a few kids under the age of 10... Use this boyancy method with the 300 or 10000 OR MORE of vertical feet or so of hollowed metal or a concrete cylinder ,, then you guys at BP can just simply build a machine around it to take all of the extra oil, it may resemble a black or dirty water fall at Los Vagas, but at least we call can see hope for a method like that.
I know it cost,, but concrete we have enough of, I'm sure of it,,, just get this idea to the government before they make it slightly harder to secure expecially if they don't have the knowledge and experience.. we know they do the best work,, but your there now.. So submit this idea so we can get this thing fixed right away sooner than waiting on a company transition,, while there is hundreds of thousands of oil spewing into the ocean with the threatened “Corral Reef” nearby or so. Remember if this corral reef Is effected it may mean a chain reaction of future negative environmental things to come.
CREATE IDEA PLACES ON YOUR WEBSITES OR YOU WON’T GET MINDFULL
ADDVICE THAT CAN HELP YOU COLLEGE EDUCATED COMPANY EXCECUTIVES WHO SHARE THE SAME WORLD AS ALL. OFFER COMPENSATION ON IDEAS USED OR IDEAS WHICH HAD A INFLUENCE ON YOUR COMPANIES STRATAGIES OR IDEAS,, NEVER KNOW WHAT YOU CAN GET.
Your Grateful Associate and friend that needs a job!!! J

I have an idea for oil clean up. Get a barge and build a rolling conveyor belt off the front end at about a 25 degree angle nose down into the water about two feet deep. It needs to be built of a cloth that will grab the oil but let water run through. As it rolls it will carry the oil up the conveyor and dump into the barge, seperating the oil sludge and water. Pushing this around with a tug boat should gather large quantities of oil and sludge. Then we can figure out what to do with the full barges of sludge.
Could someone tell Pres. Obama that If it were up to me, I’d offer companies with oil tankers an opportunity to turn this disaster into a profitable clean-up process. Oil tankers could be equipped with 2 huge siphoning pumps. One to suck the oil up out of the water and the other could be used to remove any water from the oil tankers that gets captured in the process. Since oil is lighter than water, and floats on top, this process would be in theory feasible and relatively in expensive (in comparison to what they will spend) The oil tankers could then ship their cargo to a processing facility to salvage the oil. BP could then buy the recycled oil from the companies, thus helping to off set the expense incurred by the clean-up process. It’s cost effective, would save the environment, oil, and help pay for the oil spill with from all the oil salvaged.... After all there are plenty of products that could still be maid from the oil captured!!! Tell them to contact me if He likes the idea because I have no problem in heading up this solution!!!!
I am new to this blogging thing but I feel like there is no way to communicate anymore so I thought I'd try this I am a D.C. suburb native....born and raised and spent most of my adult career working for gov't agencies.I could probably write a novel of Jon Stewart proportions but I have one point to make. This country is straying further and further from it's roots and I think that politics and media are to blame. Most people (if you silence any extreme media) just want to get by and provide for their family and be happy. I don't know how to fix the utter fiasco that is our "political stalemate". If it were up to me I would challenge the hosts of some of the (more) objective shows to relinquish their cushy salaries and sign up for the hard shit. It is easy to watch things happen and weigh in....it is MUCH harder to step up and even offer a solution and sign up to take the fall if it fails. Anderson Cooper, Rachel Maddow, I challenge you to let go of the cushy job of judging and put yourself in the hot seat. This coming from a girl that spent 7 year at Wefare to work, 3 years at Intell Agency, 4 Years doing Basel II reform (if you know what that is). SIGN UP FOR A JOB THAT HAS IMPACT and ramifications. I respect this program so much but all the media is out of touch and seems to be feeding the poison vs. helping the country. Coming from a VA native.
I've been a republican all my life, and I'm embarressed by the comments made by the (r) from texas for appauligizing to BP for a money shake down made by are government to pay for damages caused by BP, I think he should be removed from office for those comments and if he's that assamed that he should step down and appauligize to the people for his comments, in saying that I'm no longer a republican.
Most republicans can spell. Or are smart enough to look up words that do not seem quite right.
Anyway I thought up something to block up the well that would do the trick. You would have to get with Binney & Smith but I believe some kind of push of Silly Putty would do the trick for an initial cap. Like the mud it would flow, I do not know how it would stand up against salt water.
Our species is like a huge cancer . We consume and destroy everything we touch . Of course , this is all done in the name of progress without any thought of any future outcomes .
There is on 1 way to stop a oil leak. We gotta nuke it. If Russia can do it more then 4 time's and success everytime. American's need to consider the opition. Nuclear bomb is our only chance of stopping the leak. The marine life is DYING. We need to act now, not next month...
