I have some good news before we get started. The long-awaited iReport boot camp project is getting ready to go into production. We're lining up some really cool CNN experts to teach us all some new skills.

I don't have the details now, but we're planning to launch it in a few weeks.

It's going to be an interesting experiment http://ireport.cnn.com/ir-topic-stories.jspa?topicId=471765

Speaking of which: We do currently have an assignment asking for concepts of the future city, and it's an ongoing thing but we need submissions soon, and I'm looking for folks who are working on projects to model future cities. If you know of anyone or want to do a project yourself, please jump in and try it out. We're primarily looking for a US focus but I think just about anything could be useful.

Let me also tell you all about one more cool assignment that we've just launched.

The five year anniversary of Hurricane Katrina is coming up, so we're trying something a little bit different.

Katie and Tyson have uploaded dozens of photos of the aftermath of the storm and we're asking iReporters to try to locate the spots and photograph what's there now.

It's basically a bigger version of our Past and Present weekend assignment.

The good thing is, you can participate even if you're not on the Gulf Coast. We'd like people, who know the region, to take a look at the photos and see if you know where they were taken.

That will help photographers in the region track them down.

If a person is protecting themselves while being attacked should the state really charge them with assault. Why do we have laws to protect people but if the persons exercise their rights that person gets punished. Are the counties that broke that good, bad, and everyone in between gets fined

I feel that because the DA's are just trying to close cases fast and up their stats, the investigators are not doing their jobs the way they are suppose to. Innocent people get put to death. 20% of our prison population is innocent but because they could not or can not afford a proper attorney and are stuck with public defenders that are over worked and just trying to survive they take plea deals. After 12yrs in fed law enforcement and one DUI, I came to the point of the system is completely broke.
