The Westboro Baptist Church on iReport

The Supreme Court is hearing a case about the Westboro Baptist Church's protests at the funeral of a soldier who died in Iraq. The central debate is about the balance between free speech and privacy (read the full story on CNN.com).

Over the years, iReporters have shared stories and photos from several of the Westboro Baptist Church's provocative protests at places and events as wide-ranging as an Omaha, Nebraska, funeral, a San Diego church and the Comic-Con pop culture festival. Here are a few of those stories:

Chris Morrow talked with some of the protesters -- including young children holding signs almost as big as they were -- outside The Rock Church in San Diego in October 2009.

Gail Powell, who's a member of The Rock Church in San Diego, snapped these photos of a Westboro Baptist Church protest and counter-protest outside San Diego Comic-Con in July.

John Meadows was outside a funeral for Staff Sergeant Michael Bock in Omaha, Nebraska, in August, where several members of the Westboro Baptist Church staged a protest. Everything was calm, he said, until a man in a truck drove up to the crowd and pepper sprayed everyone, including Meadows, who was hit in the face. The protest broke up soon after and the man with the pepper spray was arrested for multiple counts of assault, according to Omaha police.

What do you think of these events? The Supreme Court is considering whether a provocative protest the Westboro Baptist Church staged at a military funeral should be protected as free speech. Where do you think they should land? Let's talk it up in the comments.

WBC is a bunch of disgusting human beings.  I hope the courts take one's right to privacy as seriously as they treat freedom of speech that is allowing them to trample on funerals.  Funerals are a sacred time for healing for families and friends and NONE of them deserve to deal with this...any religion, any gender, and any sexual preference.

As the discussion about bullying is coming to the for front in this country we do need to address the likes of the Westboro Baptist Church.  Although the nation as a whole is just now becoming familiar with them, the gay community have been dealing with them for almost 20 years.  They have protested outside of bars and colleges and at the funerals of those who died of AIDS and those killed by hatred - as in Mathew Shephard.  I think the courts need to address this as a way to counter - act the tolerence we as a nation have become to hatred and bullying.

This group is not a church, at least not in the traditional sense of the word.  Their behavior differs greatly from the teachings of Jesus; it is even well outside the bounds of ordinary civility.  They don't even make any sense; what does a soldier's funeral have to do with homosexuality?  Some people who know them say they have been brainwashed by their leader, who evidently is crazy.  I am reminded of the sermons I have heard over the years about what can happen when people follow a man instead of God.  Jonestown in Guyana comes to mind; I hope these people don't end up like them.

I dare them to come to Military USA in San Antonio.  They'll leave Texas black and blue.  The local police will look the other way while they learn what we mean by "Don't mess with Texas."

Let them protest... it brings them and people like them into the spotlight.  The only difference between these people and, say,  the entire Mormon Church (and most religious leaders in our country today) is that they actually have the guts to say what they are thinking.

Sure they have a right to say whatever they want, it's their constitutional right.  But the father of a dead soldier (hero) whose funeral is being protested by a bunch of bigoted, mean spirited fools, might think that shooing them all and taking his chances with a jury of 12 of his fellow citizens, would be his constitutional right.  Would you convict?  Not me!

I've said it once and I'll say it again.. Since the 90's we have had problems with this cult, but when they first started you had Al Gore backing them and their hateful speeches what to you expect? If a man who became VP gave their sponsorship to you wouldn't you get a big ego?

Now their whole issue with soldiers stems from the Don't Ask Don't Tell policy. Which is funny because 100% of the soldiers dying in war were under the age of 18 and not able to vote when Don't ask Don't tell came out yet the people who are protesting helped put those decision makers in the White House who made that decision.

So as a fellow HUMAN and someone who can use logic and use the bible against the Westboro Cult, by reading the book of Matthew and Revelations, I can logically determine that Sherly Phelps is the whore of Babylon and her father Fred is the Anti-Christ. You ask how do I know this?

1. He can quote just about anything from the bible and uses scripture to back up his hate and tries to turn the world against Christians. The anti-Christ is suspected/prophet-sized to do the same thing.

2. Sherly Phelps her self has no clue who 2 of her daughters fathers are. So using the same rationality they use she could be considered the whore of Babylon.

3. Fred Phelps has ran for the Democratic Senator Slot for Kansas and received 31% of the votes. If if wasn't for the system our forefathers created this pathetic excuse for a man would be in office right now. I still wonder how he got 31% of the votes if it wasn't some demonic influence on people :)

AS you guys can tell I'm going a bit far out there with the biblical quotes but this is using their same arguments against them...

Now to protect the 1st Amendment we can make a law stating at least 2 miles from an Cemetery or Funeral Home. It just limits where people can protest. On a lighter note we all know if this doesn't pass then when Fred Dies here in the next 5 years ( and he will, I just feel it) we can show up to his funeral and protest it in the same manner except with LARGER numbers and more unity then any peace-loving man has created in the United States since the revolutionary war!

The courts won't do anything about them.  The American people have to do what is right in this case.  I read about an incident in the Bakersfield area of California in which that "church" filed for a permit to protest at a funeral of a fallen soldier.  It was reported that the "church" recieved a specific threat, or "garauntee" of violence should they actually appear near the beforementioned funeral.  SO.  It appears that this "church" is afraid of violence against them!  Take note America!  It appears that is the only way to stop them.

I'd love to know what the folks at Westboro Baptist think about the ground zero mosque.  If they believe their actions should be protected as free speech, surely they see that another group's religious practices should be treated with the same dignity.  I don't see how anyone can support one and not the other.

I believe its in the book of Luke where it says you must sell your coat for a sword...

there are times even in a Christian life to where you must use violence to prevent the spread of one ignorant person's views before it becomes a multiple groups way of life. Fred Phelps started off as one person now he is 100 plus......... How much longer will America have to endure his CULT'S hatred and how much longer will Christians allow their name to be slaughtered under this CULTS hateful actions?

Right now there are 2 key members.. The leader and the leader's daughter.. Take them both out then the idealism is gone. I'm not saying murder them.. and spite what people say many groups have tried logical reasoning with this CULT to get them to change. Other pastors, multiple people in the news industry, and many other people you wouldn't even imagine have came together in peace and tried to stop this group. EVEN FOX NEWS and Micheal Moore have tried and failed..

So there is only one option left. Since the nation can not afford another Waco disaster the law needs to get involved. Jail Fred and Sherly for inciting multiple riots for starters and launch an investigation into their church funds. You will find MANY of the dollars that have gone into the church are from the government its self and about as much that has gone in has gone back out. So the whole separation of "Church and State" has not been the case for this cult.

For those who don't believe me and say its impossible, look up Operation Snow White and how Scientology ALMOST had the government fully infiltrated.

Something has to be done. Something should of been done in the 90's when this group first made its public appearance at a child who died from AIDS from a blood transfusion's funeral. They pulled this same crap and blamed the homosexual community for AIDS and his death. Their ignorance knows no bounds so we as Americans much know how to handle them without any restraints.

If something isn't done in the next 8 years the majority of those Children holding signs will be registered voters and be looking to start familes of their own.. the 100 now becomes 1,000.. 10 years from the that 1,000 becomes 10,000......... how much longer will this last? FIX the PROBLEM. Arrest them, throw them in jail, punish the people in government who have taken bribes and money from this CULT, and take everything this CULT has gained from the Tax Payers and give it back to the State of Kansas. Even the MCDONALDS there is charging for Ketchup packets.... so they def need the money.

I haven't seen these people in NYC (we've had plenty of soldiers from here die as well in the war). Oh wait, could it be that they KNOW they'll get their behinds kicked? Funny, they'll only go to places where they know they can have better chances at brainwashing people. Unfortunately, they do have a right to protest but the only feasable argument I can see against it is that they are provoking danger (ie: the pepper spray incident) and/or tax-payer money has to be spent to keep them safe. Why should tax-payers have to pay for police to make sure they are kept safe? I'll be very interested in watching this case be taken up at the Supreme court level.

The Court should carve out an exception to restrict the freedom of speech and assembly for this group in this case.   I think there is a  case to be made that the universal need of individuals to grieve in dignity is worthy of the government's intervention to protect, especially when the funeral is a military one, and especially when a protest can as well be done elsewhere.  The Court has already restricted freedom of speech in cases where the speech interferes with the peaceful use of someone else's property -- it seems to me that the graveside of one's dead child should be considered to have a unique and protected use on the day of the funeral -- and which the law should determine would be infringed upon by the assembly of a protest within the line of sight or hearing.

Although I agree that homosexuality is absolutely filthy and disgusting, and anyone who thinks inserting penis in anus that is full of stinking feces and bacteria that is disease producing and infectious are the ones with the real mental health issues.

This display at a mans funeral is absolutely tasteless and void of any compassion, the bible instructs true christians to mourn with them that mourn, this is just another example of how false christianity which this is obviously is, but with some slight similarities to what true christianity teaches in terms of prophecy which more than likely were stolen from the true churches of God, by this mislead minister to make it appear like true christianity, this is just another example of the fruits that false christianity teaches.

It is all about doctrine what doctrine does the church teach, if they don't teach following the commandments of God and honoring the sabbaths saturday being the true sabbath and live by those principles it is false religion plain and simple.

I don't care what it is dressed up as, and their fruits bare that out picketing at funerals!?, any church that honors sunday as Gods sabbath and teaches the false doctrine of salvation by grace through faith only without any change in behavior is a false church Matthew 15:7-9, Mark 7:7-9, Romans 16:17-18, 2Corinthians 11:13-15, 2Timothy 4:3-5 this just another example of the blind leading the blind, and ignorant lay members blindly following men.

Fred Phelps and his kissing cousins (literally) that make up the congregation in his so-called "church" are mentally disturbed.  I hope the Supreme Court rules to end their reign of terror, that started in 1998 with the vicious, homophobic protesting at Matthew Shepherd's funeral through the present day protesting at the funerals of our brave and fallen hero's who gave their life to protect this Country.

If I had been the father of the dead soldier I would have taken my two Glocks to the funeral and after the service I would have shot as many of them as I could. If any relative of a slain soldier ever decides to do this I doubt if they could find a jury that would convict, at least not around where I live. They should change the phrase 'freedom of speech' to 'freedom to be a complete ass.' Every time this phrase is used it is to defend what most people consider idiocy. Nobody said Abraham Lincoln was invoking freedom of speech when he gave the Gettysburg Address, nor was Kennedy when he spoke at the Berlin Wall or even the founding fathers when they drafted the Bill of Rights in the first place. Only when the clown car drives up and out pop people like the Westboro Church do they mention their rights under the first amendment.

And please don't allow the homosexual and lesbians communities to use this a way to piggy back on the civil rights issues of races, these are the actions of ignorant mislead people but that in no way justifies homosexuality/bisexuality and lesbianism which are perverse sexual behaviors, and can in no way be put under the same civil rights umbrella as it pertains to racial discrimination or any other rights for that matter.

I have taught for sometime now that a large number of these false ministers are in fact homosexuals masquerading as true ministers of God not true ministers of God being caught in homosexual acts, and many of them in fact act as fall guys for the homosexual and lesbian community and movement to further their agenda. What they do is build these false gay ministers up and encourage them to vehemently speak out against homosexuality and after they have gained the trust of the public expose them for the liars and homosexuals that they really are, which further undermines true christianity while at the same time strengthening the homosexual agenda and movement, by presenting the false perception that any minister who speaks out against it is in fact gay or bisexual themselves, which is far from the truth.

Many true ministers of God speak out against this perversion as they are required to do, and sincerely oppose this filth as they should. But these images of false gay ministers being caught in all manner of sex scandals serve to distort that perception which is exactly what the gay community is trying to accomplish,  discrediting christianity by painting a false picture which they are actively engaged in, by building up and exposing these false gay ministers themselves, to further their own agenda by discrediting anyone that speaks out against homosexuality, ministers or otherwise, while at the same time strengthening their movement and agenda and falsely justifying their arguments by painting false pictures that hmosexuality is right and anyone who speaks out against it is wrong and gay or bisexual themselves, Leviticus 18:22. Leviticus 20:13, Romans 1:26-32.

I fully support their right to free speech. Only if we can say we allow the the very opposite of what we hold dear to say their peace can we truly be a "free speech" country.

That having been said, and all things being equal... How can cops "find" reasons to disperse other legal protests and fail utterly here? They need to apply their trade, and safety equally and fairly. So they either need to back off other protesters, or apply themselves equally here.

Of course Fred Phelps and his ilk are horrible people, but that's not the point. The point is, how do you balance his free speech rights with the privacy rights of the family? Problem is, if you're a strict Constitutional conservative (a so-called "strict constructionist"), you pretty much have to go with Phelps because strict Constitutional conservatives don't believe in a right to privacy. If you notice Scalia's comments during the session today, it's evident he's is going to side with Phelps. Scalia has asked numerous times, "where is the right to privacy in the Constitution?"

Bottom line, you can't have it both ways. If you're going to be a "strict constructionist" conservative, you're going to have to deny that the Constitution protects a right to privacy (go look it up, privacy is nowhere explicitly protected but was conjured up by "activists justices" that "read" it into the Constitution). On the other hand, the right to free speech is clearly articulated as a fundamental right in the 1st Amendment.

Allowing these people to do this is a demonstration of how our attempts to be civilized have backfired. Had these people done this, say, in the late '40's at a GI's funeral, they would be lucky to leave alive. Seriously. Certainly in the Old West, somebody would have just shot 'em dead, and I think the good Lord would have been just fine with that since CLEARLY, the Devil resides at Westboro.

I have my priorities in the right place and the Phelps family is just an evil family. So evil that Muslims even hate them for the indignity they show.

Yes these people are doing/saying something we don’t like and if the courts don’t stop them then we should kill them because this is hate speech.  And when there is an anti-gay protest we will kill them too because this is hate speech and the next time someone pickets an abortion clinic we will kill all of them because this is hate speech. Of course if you are anti-gay or pro life then it is vice versa for you……the point being , when groups protest and we don’t like what they are saying , how they are saying it or where they are saying it and the courts won’t stop them because of some silly freedom of speech thingy…. then we need to kill them because this is not free speech this is hate speech

My son is currently serving in Afghanistanit's his third deployment.  I honestly don't know what I would do if a were a parent who was dealing with the loss of a son or daughter who bravely died while serving his country if these people showed up.  I do know that a group of "hells angels" used to travel around the country counter-acting this group.  They would show up on their bikes, holding flags, and show their respect by respectful patriotism.  To counter this group, more true Americans should make the effort to do the same.  We need to show up, line the streets by standing with our flags in respect, while letting the funeral take place privately.  Let's counter this group by demonstrating true gratitude and patriotismif we outnumber them, the grieving family will know that the greater number of Americas do care and do feel their loss.

I don't know why my last post has lines through it, but I really want to stress a point.  As a mother of a soldier, I would ask Americans to commit themselves not to more violence and hate, but in a real demonstration of appreciation, gratitude and respect.  If we know of a death of a soldier in an area near us, we should be lining the streets with our support, standing at attention with our flags and the soldier and family pass.  The more people who engage in this commitment, the less this evil group will be heard or recognized.  Let us all make a commitment to demonstrate our gratitude to the families of fallen soldiers by supporting them in this way.

Torontash every gay person that I briefly come in contact with are very manipulative, deceitful, and prodigious liars, who will do and say anything to satisfy their sick lust, they lie to satisfy the lust, manipulate to satisfy the lust, give with a perverse sexually driven ulterior motive to satisfy that filthy lust, slander to satisfy that lust, that lust is their God and they will do anything and say anything to satisfy it.

They will do anything and say anything to satisfy that consuming desire for perverse sexual gratification,I have seen it over and over again. They also seem to always want to be portrayed as the victims when they are the ones who initiate harassment in many cases, and when the person that they are perversely drawn too rejects them they engage in smear campaigns to slander, discredit, and destroy them, which unfortunately for them is going to result in their horrific painful destruction if not repented of, Proverbs 6:16-19, Proverbs 13:3, Proverbs 18:7, Proverbs 19:9, and if I were the media and these so called compassionate groups I would take a closer look at these bullying issues I am almost certain from personal experience that the homosexuals and lesbians are behind the harassment of many these young people to the point of committing suicide because they refuse to conform or go along with their advances.

I would encourage them to take a closer look, all is not as it appears in many cases the bible clearly defines the character of individuals who are given over to this type of sick lust and perversion Romans 1:26-32 they simply have no character when you put then under a microscope that becomes very obvious, I have personally found the bible to be absolutely true as it relates to this sick behavior.

These homosexual/bisexual and lesbian groups put on this facade as being so humble and caring, but humility has everything to do with respect for man and authority God being the supreme authority to defy the authority of God is  the worse kind of pride, satanic pride!, I don't care what it is dressed up as, wolves in sheeps clothing is what it amounts to, and where is the compassion when you promote, teach, and participate in a lifestyle that can and will ultimately lead to death physically by disease, as well as mental health issues that many of these people suffer from because of the warped spiritual condition this type of behavior produces, as well as the spiritual deaths of so many for following and embracing it Romans 1:32, Revelation 21:7-8 where can the love of God and mankind be found in this behavior, this way of thinking!?.

To suggest that perverse sexual behavior that involves wading through packed feces to reach a sexual climax is anything other than evil, ungodly, twisted, consuming, perverted, vile lust is ridiculous and sick reasoning, and I have no affiliation with West Boro baptist church neither do I agree with what they are doing as it relates to this unbiblical behavior.

How can these WBC people call themselves "Christians"?  They are the farthest thing from it.  I learned in Lutheran Sunday School that God loves all His creations.  He is not about hatred.  Fred Phelps, on the other hand, said on camera to a local news crew years ago that his goal was to promote hatred.

When Fred Phelps and his followers said my city and state were the new Sodom and Gomorrah and came here to protest, the local LGBT organization organized a counter rally on the steps of the Capitol.  Phelps and his followers (total count:  11) were on the sidewalk across the street with police barricades around them.  No one was paying any attention to them.  That's why they suddenly packed up and left.

Phelps and his family crave attention.  When they don't get it, they don't know what to do.

The hell's angels that MeganColorad is speaking of is actual the Patriot Guard, who are also from Kansas! They do attend funerals of soldiers to protect against protests and to bring positive attention to the funeral.  PLEASE remember Kansas for them, and not the westboro unchurch. I have often wished that Kansas would run the westboro unchurch out- then it dawned on me recently that running them out would only put the burden of their existence onto some other state. Believe me, the people in Kansas are way over-tired of them. They have been in the Kansas news for decades, and it is still hard to not let your blood boil when you see them- especially with Mr. Snyder's Supreme Court case against them.  I just wish the news channels would stop giving them so much air time, at least visually. They could mention the case, and the give Matt Synder the attention his funeral deserved, that of respect.

Funny, ktom, but have known, most probably, far more gay and lesbian people than you have.

I've NOT experienced what you claim to have experienced and observed. Perhaps you should stop going to the gay and lesbian dating service.

What I have observed, to include buddies in the military, was people exactly the same as all of the rest of us.

What I see in your statements is fundamentalist beliefs, remarkably similar in construction of statements to the Taliban. I don't intend to insult, but simply state facts.

Facts derived from nearly 5 years of deployment to the Persian Gulf region reading their nonsense.

One bases a few verses for an entire world view, forgetting the REST of the book. Then attempting to force others to follow that view.

I'm intimately familiar with our Christian bible. I'm also familiar with texts that were removed by Constantine when the holy roman empire was formed.

I'm even quite familiar with the Quran, as reading it and hadith was part and parcel of my evaluation of our security posture and some operational issues.

That all said, Phelps and his all girl band REALLY resemble the Taliban, as they're fixated on one or two things to the exclusion of the entirety of the religion or even common sense and decency.

As such, I consider them as dire a threat against the safety, security and national interests of the Great United States of America as Al Qaeda and the taliban.

Regrettably, the President has not issued such a finding as of yet. Or the issue would be an academic discussion.

Wkmurph, I recall an old American custom from before and during the days of the founding of this great nation.

Tar and feathering, then riding out of town on a rail.

The tar in question was heated pine pitch. The rail was a fence rail, with the honoree of the ceremony tied onto it in a particularly uncomfortable way.

Perhaps the local populace in Kansas should acquaint themselves with that tidbit of our history.

Before we have a repeat of bleeding Kansas.

God does not hate anyone.  That is why God sent Jesus Christ for our sins.  Our sins are forgiven so, God can't hate us for what has been forgiven for.

2 Timothy 2:15  Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.

This church, if you can call it a church, has lost it's real purpose which is to witness about Jesus and how our sins are forgiven.  Instead they forget:  Matthew 7 1-2  1 Do not judge, or you too will be judged. 2 For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.

If you want to stop the Phelps organization, the following federal act must be overturned:  The Civil Rights Attorney's Fees Award Act of 1976, also known as "Section 1988". This law allows the Phelps family to recoup reasonable legal fees for civil rights cases in which they prevail.  This is how they make their money and feed the machine.  They act as their own attorneys, via their family owned law firm in Topeka, KS.  If this law were overturned, they'd have no source of income.

The argument isn't about what one group believes in, it's about whether or not they have the right to say it.  If it's anything to do with a "military funeral", it means that our tax dollars as a whole goes into paying for some portion of the funeral arrangements in one form or another.  I believe in free speech even on a good day but I would most definitely agree that free speech is the right of everyone when it comes to anything publicly funded, even sensitive topics such as a funeral.

Voteofnation, I disagree on a few fundamental levels.

First, you now would disallow military members to attend and honor a fallen comrade. I'm sorry, but that is not only unacceptable, but obscene.

The families DO have a reasonable expectation of privacy, not out of canon of law, but out of COMMON decency, the same filter as is applied to determine what pornography is or even what is acceptable for children to view.

You would also allow, by your filter, access to private property, in the form of the cemetery, whether the owner wishes it or not.

AND you'd permit them to obstruct a ceremony that is held by nearly EVERY person in this land as a special moment, where one may mourn their loss and turn it into a public spectacle more reminiscent of a common circus.

No, ALL funeral services should be protected, even for Charles Manson.

And to be quite frank, many are beginning to feel that if their vocal "vote" is not listened to and their feelings in this matter are not considered and adhered to, it will turn into the vote of the bullet.

And a GREAT many are prior and current military and QUITE a few are special operations qualified.

But that is only MY unofficial poll, listening to discussions amongst soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines, as well as veterans.

TheStugatz, I'll say this. It's fortunate for both this "church" and myself that I was deployed when they protested my buddy's funeral service.

Otherwise, they'd become intimately acquainted with what I used to do for a living.

And as a small hint, I'm a small arms expert. I'm also expert in edged weapons and bludgeons. I'm also expert in unarmed combat. I'm also an expert in the use of explosive ordinance.

If the families of fallen soldiers could pay for their family member's funeral to make it private and possibly protected from insensitive protests, I think they would jump at the chance. I have no doubt that they wouldn't have to pay for it at all- they would get donations from everywhere.

wzrd1, I don't recall mentioning tar and feathering, or any other kind of violence. There are other ways, such as what daveinkc brought up, to get people out of town. Personally, I think they would suffer more if they weren't given any video time on the news.

I have also found that those that strongly support it are either gay themselves, bisexual, or curious not the other way around, false gay ministers give a bad name to those that sincerely avoid, hate, expose, and oppose it as scripture instructs us to do Psalms 97:10 Ephesians 5:10-12, 2 Corinthians 5:17-18.

These false gay ministers give validation to these claims that anyone that opposes it are gay themselves which is absolutely false when you know how to identify true christians and is designed to do one thing and that is to destroy the credibility of those that sincerely oppose it live in accordance with scripture and practice what they preach.

Then, you won't have to french kiss a camel, and American soldiers can still be buried at Arlington- because they are soldiers, not because of who pays for, or donates money for, their funeral. If it would keep the phelps bunch from being able to ruin a soldier's funeral, yes I would donate money even though the government should pay for it, and I think a lot of other people would, also.  This is not about money, it is about Americans who died for their country getting a funeral that is worthy of that death. Ktom, DO enlighten us. WHERE in scripture does it say to hate a man who lays with a man as he would with a woman?

I recall the translation as abomination, but not requiring hate.

There were punishments imposed for that behavior, but I don't recall Freddie espousing it. Pity, as it'd be even MORE amusing than the debate here, as the required punishment was stoning. But, again, no hate required. Only obedience to that law that even Jews don't bother with. Else, a LOT of rocks would be thrown just in Hollywood alone...

OK, bad choice in jokes, but still...

But, let's consider the lesson of the adulteress, who was about to be stoned, to be reprieved by Jesus with the simple statement of "let he without sin cast the first stone."

Oops, bad lesson, as God HATED that one.

And frankly, I'd still rather french kiss that camel than besmirch a fallen comrade's service with your prostitution of our values. We don't go as cheaply, as we have a sense of honor. I cannot and will not prostitute honor for anything, even family. That sense has kept myself any my team alive when nothing else could.

Apparently, you do no understand such things. Perhaps it's a lack of life experience in the rougher parts of supporting our nation.

Frankly, as I've said previously here, the Taliban and this "fine gentleman" have MUCH in common in verbiage and laser focus on ONE item in an entire text, especially when the New Testament states about WHO should cast the first stone. Hence, that "gentleman" is, in my book, as dangerous as the Taliban and other terrorist folks.

And to put it even more bluntly, I've literally met with terrorists. I've fought with them.

I'm still here.

Wzrd1 The bible commands the righteous to judge in righteousness Leviticus 19:15, the person that is doing the judging must be a righteous individual themselves is what this means, when you judge being guilty of the same things that the person you are judging is guilty of, only then do you risk condemnation Romans 2:1-6, God loves judgment when it it is done properly Isaiah 61:8, that is fully supported by scripture, homosexuality is condemned throughout scripture and is deemed punishable by death Leviticus 18:22, Leviticus 20:13, Romans 1:26-32, the bible also instructs the righteous to hate evil Psalms 97:10 homosexuality is labeled  an abomination the worse type of sin, the righteous are instructed to hate it because it is evil and because of all the evil that it can and will cultivate and produce when fully followed and embraced, and to  have nothing to do with anyone who freely, happily engages in it 2 Corinthians 6:17-18, Ephesians 5:10-12, abomination means pure, unholy, evil and the fruits of this sexual  perversion bare that out, and we as true christians are commanded to hate the evil Psalm 97:10.

You quote one verse in scripture and take it completely out of context not knowing or understanding the totality of scripture, I would advise you not to talk about what you dont really know or understand, you create an environment of confusion and that can result in your condemnation when judged James 3:1.

2 Peter 3:16.

Let's examine THAT a bit. The fruits of that sexual perversion... HOW can same sexual relations produce "fruits"? Yet ANOTHER virgin birth? Nope. We ALL know better than that.

Let's review a different lesson.

An adulteress was being "prepared" to be stoned. Jesus stopped them and said, "Let he without sin cast the first stone."

Did he or did he not say that?

The penalty for a man laying with another man as he would a woman was stoning.

So, put up or shut up.

Either way, I'll examine your homework in the morning.

But, at the end of the day, I DO judge others as I wish to be judged, with mercy.

Mr. Hankey (ktom666),

Unfortunately, you have demonstrated that you believe, like many other Americans, that God speaks English. The Old Testament verses to which you refer were originally written by ancient Hebrews in their language--Hebrew!! That Hebrew was translated to Greek, translated to Latin, translated to German (Germanic language), translated to Old English, translated to Middle English, translated to King James English, and finally, the Bible which sits in the top drawer, beside the bed in your seedy motel room, was translated into Modern English.

Thus, may I ask, dost thou knowest the Hebraic word for abomination, its meaning, and where else it is used?

That's what I figured. The word is "to'ebah" (תֹּועֵבָה). In Hebrew, it is used to refer to the breaking of any moral or ritual law.

The Torah refers to "man on man sex" as an abomination, along with these other practices:

- an Egyptian eating a meal with the Hebrews

- eating anything from the sea without scales or fins (thus Red Lobster is the new Sodom)

- sacrificing to the Lord anything other than a perfect bull or sheep

- wearing a garment of the other sex (women who wear jeans, men who wear kilts, YOU are abominations!)

Another fun Bible fact: A child who curses his or her parent shall surely be put to death. (Leviticus 20:9)

All persons guilty of adultery shall be killed. (Leviticus 20:10)

Anyone who uses the phrase "God Damn" shall be killed. (Leviticus 24:16)   ....oh crap, i typed it.

Furthermore, the reason you never quoted Jesus Christ in any of your rantings and ravings is because Christ never uttered any ill word toward the gays.

With regard to Paul's Epistles, the Greek words he used referring to "the gays" were actually words meaning men who abused young boys or young girls (hmm wonder why he said that in Greek), and men who were of low moral standing. The word Paul used, "arsenokoitai", is a neologism that Paul made up as it does not exist in the Greek language.

If you want to argue over homosexuality in Biblical scripture, don't do it with a Christian fag who actually reads the Bible for the betterment of his own character rather than vomiting it up on others to condemn them.

Now, I must go pray and ask God to forgive me for insulting and embarrassing an idiot.

Regards,

Christian Fag

P.S. Sorry to everyone else for this being rather off topic--i love correcting stupid people. Oh, and Fred Phelps is an abomination.

Southrn8oy neither you nor word know the bible at all that is painfully obvious if you were using scripture to better yourself you would simply follow it and not rail or fight against it, the bible is the word in print Christ is the word, the bible is Christ in print, we are commanded by Christ the word the bible to live by every word of God which is the bible Matthew 4:4, Luke 4:4 Christ himself said why do you call me lord lord and do not the things which I say Luke 6:46.

Christ who is the word of God clearly condemns homosexuality what part of that are you missing?, Leviticus 20:13, Leviticus 18:22, Romans 1:26-32. You also act as if you know scripture and claim to quote verses but provide no biblical proof to support it, no one who defies the word of God evident by their behavior can ever hope to properly interpret scripture, you simply twist scripture to suit your own purposes and justify your own wicked behavior, you foolishly and ignorantly do that to your own destruction when judged 2Peter 3:16.

Because you say let us do evil that grace may abound, or let us do evil because we are under grace so it is okay, the shed blood of Christ covers all our sins so it is okay to willfully rebel an sin, but the the man or woman who says this their damnation is just? Romans 3:8, have you not read that grace is not a license to sin  and that for them that willfully sin after the knowledge of the truth there remains no more sacrifice for sins only a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation that shall destroy the enemies of God? Hebrews: 10:26-32.

Do yourself a favor stop trying to teach what you obviously don't know or live by, if you are going to be filthy be filthy, if you are going to be righteous be righteous, Revelation 22:11-12, but don't think that you can have God and filthy perversions at the same time there is a prophesied destruction of the wicked, perverse, ungodly, and the hypocrite that is set in stone Job 20:4-5, Job 21:30-31, Job 27:8,

You would do well to take heed to this as you thumb your nose in Gods face and make yourself out to be righteous when you are an offense to almighty God and call God a liar simultaneously 2Timothy 2:19. 1John 3:10 stop trying to teach what you obviously don't know and learn what righteousness really is.

You simply have the attitude of a person with a reprobate mind a person who calls evil good and good evil Romans 1:26-32, the sooner you come to that realization and really repent the better it will be for you. Leviticus 10:10 you simply put no difference between the wicked and the righteous and you do that to your complete destruction Revelation 21:7-8.

The bible means what it says and says what it means the man that uses the name of God in vain shall not go unpunished and that punishment is reserved for the judgment you will understand that when you stand before God to give an account for every word uttered, Romans 2:11-16 adultery which is a violation of the law will be judged according to word of God as well, like I said stop trying to teach what you don't know Christ is in complete agreement with his father and does not contradict him or the bible, which is Christ in print, you will find that out shortly and the only ignorant person is you, you have obviously bought into that erroneous theory that homosexuals are smarter than everyone else, based on what you just said that pretty much kills that baseless theory, I see no intelligence in promoting and living a lifestyle that results in spiritual and physical condemnation when judged, where is the intelligence and wisdom in that? as scripture states you are like so many that profess themselves to be wise but are no more than fools Romans 1:22.

I also know full well that the bible was originally written in the Hebrew text and was then translated to Greek text , you aren't educating me about anything I don't know. The word translation means the rendering of something into another language or into one's own from another language. Simply to change to another language not to alter from it's original meaning, the bible has not been radically altered from it's original meaning and that has been proven, so to claim that it has changed to justify your behavior is not a valid argument at all, the fact the you understand that it has been translated from it's original hebrew text  means very little, and does not make you more knowledgeable or wiser than the average person who also understands this, nor does it validate your twisting of scripture to justify your ungodly, rebellious, behavior.

Ktom, sorry, but Christ didn't author ANY of the bible. Hence the names of the books of the NEW TESTAMENT.

You previously gaffed when you mentioned "Christ who is the word of God clearly condemns homosexuality what part of that are you missing?, Leviticus..."

Leviticus was about Moses, Jesus wasn't even considered for earth at that time, something about thousands of years previous and all.

I WOULD like to check southrn8oy's original words, I'm aware of one of his examples being accurate. The others, I'd have to check on.

The problem, as is typical in Aramaic languages is that TRUE translation is frequently impossible, so transliteration has to be done. Interpretation has to be done. The reason being that some phrases refer to cultural constructs, hence cannot be directly translated.

I learned THAT the hard way when I began learning Arabic.

I DID forget that Paul had written his letters in Greek, something that IS a bit interesting, as Paul was a Jew, so would normally write in Hebrew. From a hazy recollection, I believe he was addressing the Greeks or their neighbors, as Greek was STILL more commonly used throughout the Med than Latin.

I'll also remind you that Christ is NOT a proper name, but a title or descriptor. Christ literally means "anointed one" THAT is a reference made when describing Jesus AND referring to his family tree. If you note, the tree extends to the house of David.

To understand the impact and rationale for that, consider this: Herod was not well liked by the populace. He was NOT of the house of David, hence should NOT have been king. He had ingratiated himself to the Romans, who installed him as king.

This means that Jesus was literally being shown as having the RIGHT to be king, far more so than Herod.

Anointed, as David was and other kings were.

BUT, at the end of the day of translation, the "official" Catholic (the origin of Christian faiths) transliteration became messiah.

You want to learn something? Read the history of the region AND the socio-political background during the life of Jesus.

And while you're at it, perhaps you should use his correct name of Joshua or even more towards the point, Yeshua, as Jesus was fluent in Greek, Latin, Hebrew AND his more native (for his region) Aramaic.

Wzrd1 Did you not read anything that was written?,christ was the word from the beginning John 1:1-2 the Leviticus is the word, the words of Christ, distorted inaccurate interpretation of the historical facts one of the most common tactics people like you use to counter the word is by trying to appear to be knowledgeable about the bible, by offering inaccurate, distorted, historical interpretations of the bible, with emphasis on languages and translations which have virtually nothing to do with biblical accuracy, truths, and facts, because you don't have any real knowledge or understanding of scripture so can't argue from a biblical standpoint, you offer a meaningless, inaccurate, distorted historical interpretations with emphasis on languages and translations to try to discredit the validity of the bible and counter biblical facts and truths.

What does herod not being liked and being a puppet of the roman government have to do with the biblical facts presented. The bible which was written in the original hebrew text has been translated into virtually every language as I stated earlier translated and altered are different, the bible has not been radically altered from its original meaning regardless of the many translations, and I challenge you to prove otherwise.

The catholic church is far from the origin of true christianity it is in fact a false christianity that was instituted in the 3rd century by emperor constantine who abolished everything christ had established and replaced it with false worship, a false christianity that recognizes sunday as the christian sabbath, which is false, saturday from sunset friday to sunset saturday is the true christian sabbath, this false christianity also rejects the commandments and the word of God as a whole and supplants it with the the false doctrine of salvation by grace through faith only, a soul destroying false doctrine Matthew 7:7-9.

The truth of the matter is catholicism is of satan and established and created by satan, and is referred to in scripture as baal worship or false worship, check your history Mark 7:7-9, the catholic church has a history that spans centuries of practicing and engaging in pedophile behavior, and has virtually nothing to do with true christianity, as I said earlier talk about what you know, because you don't know the bible nor do you understand biblical history.

In regards to the Gay Christian. I mean this with total respect and maybe ignorance, but I didn't know you could be a Christian who is Gay ?! We are all sinners and I have friends who are gay, but I thought once you proclaimed to be a Christian You had to address your sins and work towards living a Christ life as much as possible. By being  and living a Gay life style how does that fit into being a Christian? I am not judging you, I am just wondering?

A confused Christian on this subject

Annette you are right it is called a reprobate mind as the bible refers to it Romans 1:26-32, it is when a person begins to think that good is evil, and evil is good, which only exacerbates their warped spiritual condition.

So instead of growing spiritually and getting better as a person they get progressively worse by continuing to practice the perverse behavior as well as justify it, they ultimately begin to display all the characteristics mentioned in Romans 1:26-32 that person is cast out as reprobate and is in danger of being burned alive when judged.

Homosexuality is simply sickening, repulsive, and disgusting, in the eyes of God he will never compromise with it for all the obvious reasons, and it will be judged and punished severely on the day of judgment Leviticus 18:22, Leviticus 20:13, Deuteronomy 7:10, Proverbs 14:2, Romans 1:18-32, Malachi 4:1,Romans 1:32, Reve4lation 21:7-8 make no mistake about that, one can only pray that they will come to understand these biblical truths before it is to late. 1John 3:10, 2 Timothy 2:19.

ktom stfu and stop trying to brainwash people into your stupid non-factual cult

and btw everything wzrd1 said was fact... if there is no word for something in another language the translater must improvise, hence why there is so many different words for love in latin languages and and only 1 for english, eats version of the word in those latin languages have different versions of meaning.... kind of a weak example but its the only one i can assume a small minded man like yourself can understand.... and it is very well known and not even denied that the king james version of the bible has over 2000 mistranslations in it... and before you say stupid crap to further prove your idiocracy i suggest you learn to read and speak the native language it was written in then translate it yourself... you might be surprised with what you find

and i'd also suggest you read the books of the bible that were removed during the roman catholic rule of christianity, and btw catholic was the only form of christianity during that time, no other form existed and every new denomination was spawned from it, you really have no knowledge of the history of your own religion and that is very sad

its you that uses the scripture to further your own crap, not us educated people

annette, its been proven for a while now that people dont choose to be gay, its a genetic gene, just like the type of gene that makes you like or dislike certain foods, and since the bible was written before people even knew wahat dna or genes were then you can assume that with todays now proven knowledge that stuff like that can b overlooked, just like we overlook the fact that god allows us to have slaves, and even describes to us how to beat them.... we have evolved as a species with knowledge and understanding, conisder it the same as when people were persecuted because the bible said the earth was flat and had 4 corners and modern science of that era proved otherwise, which we know know is true... we have evolved past that point of ignorance and now completely overlook taht part of the bible, because if we kept acting as if the world was flat, how much more evolved would we be as a species, proving not everything in the bible is fact

Homosexuals and lesbians will always try to discredit the word of God by claiming that it is inaccuarate but never be able to provide one ounce of proof to validate their baseless, biased, ignorant, arguments, what it all amounts to is the unwillingness to depart from filthy, twisted, behaviors that they have become shackled by, the lust and overwhelming desire for perverse sexual gratification is what governs their lives.

Homosexuals are simply ignorant, weak, broken, lost individuals, but they will have you believe that the are wise, intelligent, and strong, and live a lifestyle that should be emulated rather whole heartedly rejected.

The bible says the those who claim that God does not exist are abominable and twisted in their behavior Psalms 14:1-3, Psalms 53:1-3, and I have found this to be so true, put a person who says that God does not exist under a microscope and you will find that they are engaged in some form of twisted sexual behavior or lifestyle that is contrary to the word of God that they refuse to depart from.

God dictates what is right or wrong no man does, so rather than follow the guidelines outlined they will try to do away with the existence God, in so doing do away with the rules that command and encourage proper moral behavior, rules which when followed only benefit man not hurt him. Gods ways and rules don't shackle you they are liberating,  sexual addictions, immoral behavior and perverse sexual behaviors shackle and consume you, satan understands this completely , that is why he is behind the promotion of these filthy ungodly lifestyles in the end time

God is a God of order and rules that benefit man when followed not hurt him, and only he determines what is right or wrong, Gods way of life produces healthy vibrant family lives, strong stable productive communities, physical health, sound minds, peace of mind, long life, eternal life, healthy marriages and relationships, genuine friendships, and healthy consciences, when followed as scripture outlines and the benefits go on an on.

The homosexual lifestyle on the other hand produces disease, mental health disorders because of the warped spiritual condition that it produces, spiritual and physical death when judged because of the abominable rebellious behavior that it produces, unstable family lives because of the embarrassment and mental anguish it puts on the parents and or children, and the list of liabilities goes on, which are all outlined in Romans 1:26-32 which I have also found to be absolutely true, I have personally found them to be the biggest liars, slanderers, manipulators, deceitful, devious, effeminate and cowardly in their actions, who will do anything and say anything to satisfy that consuming desire for perverse sexual gratification.

They want you to follow and embrace their self destructive lifestyle and for some one to suggest that it is anything other than that is a confirmation of how stupid and brainwashed they really are, trust me nobody is doing the brainwashing but these perverse groups and organizations, if you can't see that something so physically and spiritually destructive, filthy and infectious is wrong then you are probably brainwashed already.

God and his way of life offer abundant life, happiness and wellbeing, these twisted lifestyles simply offer confusion, death, sorrow, and suffering it's up to you to choose what you will embrace. Deuteronomy 11:26, Deuteronomy 30:19

Here is some interesting information about homosexuality that you may not know about.

All churches who condemn us will be closed… We shall sodomize your sons.… We shall seduce them in your schools, in your dormitories, in your gymnasiums, in your locker rooms, in your sports arenas, in your seminaries, in your youth groups…"

When "gay activist" Michael Bronski penned those shocking statements in Boston’s Gay Community News in February 1987, he labeled them "a cruel fantasy; an eruption of inner rage." Supporters dismissed his words as mere "satire."

But, think! If almost any other movement were to make such outrageous statements, it would be shunned—or even outlawed and quickly shut down. Yet the very clever leaders of the homosexual movement have achieved almost unparalleled success in having their lifestyle accepted and their goals embraced, attacking the basic structure of American life—the family, children, a normal home life and all that this implies. Homosexual activists have gained unprecedented influence over the media. Now, increasingly, they are gaining even more power through the courts, through our schools and colleges, and even in the churches!

What do they seek to accomplish? Jesus Christ said, "You will know them by their fruits" (Matthew 7:16). What are the actual "fruits"—the results—of the homosexual lifestyle? Homosexual propagandists try to avoid or distort this topic, but every honest researcher will acknowledge that the average male homosexual has about 50 sex partners during his lifetime! This is at least twelve times as many as the average heterosexual male. And the homosexuals’ multiple sexual encounters—often in bathhouses and public toilets with men they do not even know—result in the spread of AIDS and other diseases at a far higher rate than heterosexuals. As Dr. Jeffrey Satinover, M.D. reports in his excellent and carefully researched book, Homosexuality and the Politics of Truth, "homosexual men are disproportionately vulnerable to a host of serious and sometimes fatal infections caused by the entry of feces into the bloodstream. These include hepatitis B and the cluster of otherwise rare conditions, such as shigellosis and Giardia lamblia infection, which together have been known as the ‘Gay Bowel Syndrome.’ A major review article summarizes: ‘Because of their larger numbers of sexual partners and sexual practices such as anilingus and anal intercourse, homosexual men are at particularly high risk of acquiring hepatitis B, giardiasis, ambebiasis, shigellosis, campylobacteriosis, and anorectal infections with Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Chlamydia trachomatis, Treponema pallidum, herpes simplex virus, and human papilloma viruses’" (pp. 67–68).

Satinover—a highly respected medical doctor and psychoanalyst—clearly demonstrates that homosexual activity leads to a host of serious diseases and other physical problems, and a greatly shortened lifespan. Friends and relatives of homosexuals are showing them a great deal of love—not "hating" them—if they can help them understand the irreparable damage their perverted lifestyle is causing them, and can help them leave it behind.

Be honest—what would be the "fruit" or result if everyone practiced the homosexual lifestyle? What kind of lives would the men and women of this world be living?

     Nothingness!

The Real Purpose for Your Life

"The Eternal God created man and woman in His image (Genesis 1:26). He made us male and female. One of God’s very first actions was to establish marriage between a man and a woman as the basic structure of human society. "Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh" (Genesis 2:24).

In the beginning, the woman was created specifically for the man; to help and comfort him, to be his lover, his companion and the mother of his children. Most religions and all decent societies have recognized this for thousands of years. For nearly all of us, this has been the basis of our home life, and the foundation for the awesome physical accomplishments of humanity.

But, enter the homosexual activists. They want to create a society so fundamentally disordered that increasing millions would die of AIDS and other such diseases. Little children—if any—would not have a normal home or family life. Of course, if any nation actually embraced the full homosexual agenda, its population would soon be decimated, with the survivors increasingly sick and dying. Soon, a younger "hungry" nation would conquer the dying nation and so end its self-inflicted misery. We saw this pattern in the decline of societies such as ancient Greece and Rome.

Yet, we know better! Our living Creator made us "in His image." By teaching us lessons in this life and guiding us through the Holy Spirit, God is preparing true Christians to be full members of His "family." For Jesus Christ is called "the firstborn among many brethren" (Romans 8:29). And Go

And God tells His people not to imitate the vile practices of this world; instead, He says, "Therefore ‘Come out from among them and be separate, says the Lord. Do not touch what is unclean, and I will receive you. I will be a Father to you, and you shall be My sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty’" (2 Corinthians 6:17–18).

By contrast, the real agenda of the homosexual activists would lead to a complete reordering of our entire society! It would ultimately destroy all vestiges of true Christianity. The sexual perverts leading the homosexual movement have aims far beyond what most people have realized. Yet the liberal media, politicians and educators are going right along with it!

Are Homosexuals Really "Born That Way"?

"Perhaps the most damaging assumption about homosexuality is the incessant barrage of propaganda put out by homosexual activists that they are "born that way." That they really "can’t help themselves." That—even with counseling, therapy or genuine Christian conversion—they "can’t change."

But what are the actual facts?

Read carefully the following comments by A. Dean Byrd, writing for the National Association for Research and Therapy of Homosexuality: "Dr. Francis S. Collins, one of the world’s leading scientists who works at the cutting edge of DNA, concluded that ‘there is an inescapable component of heritability to many human behavioral traits. For virtually none of them is heredity ever close to predictive.’.… As Dr. Collins would agree, environment can influence gene expression, and free will determines the response to whatever predispositions might be present. Dr. Collins succinctly reviewed the research on homosexuality and offers the following: ‘An area of particularly strong public interest is the genetic basis of homosexuality. Evidence from twin studies does in fact support the conclusion that heritable factors play a role in male homosexuality. However, the likelihood that the identical twin of a homosexual male will also be gay is about 20 percent (compared with 2–4 percent of males in the general population), indicating that sexual orientation is genetically influenced but not hardwired by DNA, and that whatever genes are involved represent predispositions, not predeterminations’" ("Homosexuality Is Not Hardwired," April 2007).

This respected scientist admits that sexual orientation may be "influenced" by a person’s genetic makeup. But it is only a "predisposition," not a predetermination.

In spite of social pressure to deny this important fact, a significant number of scientists, medical doctors and other experts are willing to acknowledge freely that no one is "born" to be a homosexual.

Columbia University Professor of Psychiatry Dr. Robert Spitzer, who was instrumental in removing homosexuality in 1973 from the American Psychiatric Association’s list of mental disorders, wrote a study published in the October 2003 Archives of Sexual Behavior. He contended that people can change their ‘sexual orientation’ from homosexual to heterosexual. Spitzer interviewed more than 200 people, most of whom claimed that through reparative therapy counseling, their desires for same-sex partners either diminished significantly or they changed over to heterosexual orientation.

October 10, 2010

"Although still a proponent of homosexual activism, Spitzer has been attacked unmercifully by former admirers for this breach of the ideology that people are ‘born gay and can’t change.’ Immutability is a central tenet of demands for ‘gay rights’ and ‘gay marriage.’ Because no single study can be regarded as definitive, more research on people who have overcome homosexuality needs to be done. But a considerable body of previous literature about change from homosexuality to heterosexuality has been compiled, and the sheer number of exceptions to the ‘born gay’ theory should be a warning to researchers and media to proceed with caution before declaring that science has ‘proved’ that homosexuality is genetic" ("Born or Bred?," June 2000).

Finally, read carefully the following: "Many laymen now believe that homosexuality is part of who a person really is from the moment of conception. The ‘genetic and unchangeable’ theory has been actively promoted by gay activists and the popular media. Is homosexuality really an inborn and normal variant of human nature? No. There is no evidence that shows that homosexuality is simply ‘genetic.’ And none of the research claims there is. Only the press and certain researchers do, when speaking in sound bites to the public.… But before we consider the specifics, here is what serious scientists think about recent genetics-of-behavior research. From Science, 1994: ‘Time and time again, scientists have claimed that particular genes or chromosomal regions are associated with behavioral traits, only to withdraw their findings when they were not replicated. "Unfortunately," says Yale’s Dr. Joel Gelernter, "it’s hard to come up with many" findings linking specific genes to complex human behaviors that have been replicated. "…All were announced with great fanfare; all were greeted unskeptically in the popular press; all are now in disrepute."…

"Researchers’ public statements to the press are often grand and far-reaching. But when answering the scientific community, they speak much more cautiously. ‘Gay gene’ researcher Dean Hamer was asked by Scientific American if homosexuality was rooted solely in biology. He replied: ‘Absolutely not. From twin studies, we already know that half or more of the variability in sexual orientation is not inherited. Our studies try to pinpoint the genetic factors… not negate the psychosocial factors’" ("Is There a ‘Gay Gene’?", National Association for Research and Therapy of Homosexuality, September 2004).

Even the "activist" homosexual researchers often admit—as Dr. Hamer acknowledged in the above reference—that "sexual orientation is not inherited!" Think! If homosexuals were really "born that way," it would be greatly "unfair" for the God of the Bible to condemn homosexuality. He would be wrong to deny homosexuals admittance to His Kingdom, which the Bible clearly shows is the case (1 Corinthians 6:9–11). The Bible’s many examples of God’s wrath against homosexual practices would be portraying an unjust God!

October 10, 2010

However, homosexuals are not "born that way!" Alcoholics are not "born that way!" Nor are drug addicts, child molesters or any other sinners "born that way!" Otherwise, God would be unjust to command them to repent and to change. He would be falsifying the power of the Holy Spirit to help anyone overcome sin!

But God is not unjust! He tells us, through the Apostle James, "Let no one say when he is tempted, ‘I am tempted by God;’ for God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He Himself tempt anyone. But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed" (James 1:13–14).

Certainly, God has not "made" anyone to be a homosexual. To say that He has would not only be terribly wrong; it would border on blasphemy.

Remember, we are not to hate the sad, mixed-up people who are confused as to their sexual identity. Rather, we should pray for them and try to help them if they are willing to be helped. But we are not truly "helping" them if we accept the false ideology propagated by the homosexual activists. In their shame and their desire to "gain acceptance," they are putting forth a continual barrage of mis-information trying to convince the public that they are "just like anyone else" and that homosexual behavior is "okay."

The homosexual activists and their cohorts in the media try desperately to obscure the horrifying results of homosexuality as it plays out in AIDS, in many other life-threatening and life-shortening diseases and ailments, and in the deep despair and extremely high rates of suicide in the homosexual community. Homosexuals need God’s help to "come out" of that sinful and very destructive behavior.

WHO Decides What Is Right and What Is WRONG?

"Millions of professing Christians fail to realize that the real issue here is whether a real, personal God created us and has authority over our lives, and whether the book we call the Holy Bible is, in fact, the Creator’s "Instruction Manual" and was truly inspired by God. As the prophesied end of this present age swiftly comes upon us, it is vital that we prove to ourselves the correct answer to these two questions, and that we act on this knowledge!

If we did truly "evolve" from lovesick amoebas in the ocean slime, quite apart from any actual Creator, we might feel "free" to indulge in fornication, adultery, homosexuality, "group marriages," bestiality, child abuse, murder, torture and anything else that our carnal mind might envision. Of course, the physical penalties of AIDS (and a host of other diseases and maladies)—including a greatly shortened lifespan—would all need to be taken into account. But in our heavily sexualized "now" generation, with its demand for the immediate satisfaction of all of our lusts and fantasies, even those severe penalties would not stop many thoughtless individuals from seeking instant "gratification."

However, if the God of the Bible truly is "in charge" of the rise and fall of nations, and if He has a magnificent purpose for our lives, we would do well to heed what the Bible actually says. I am appalled at the partial information—or even disinformation—often published by misguided individuals supposing to tell us what the Bible says about homosexuality. Supporters of homosexuality usually refer only to isolated scriptures, and then "make fun" of them. Yet any honest person should be willing to look at the consistent condemnations of homosexuality throughout the entire Bible. Then, truly, one will come much closer to knowing the "mind of God" on the subject.

Do you know that the Bible clearly teaches that those involved in homosexuality can change? Writing to Christians in the extremely sexualized atmosphere of ancient Corinth, the Apostle Paul explained, "Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God" (1 Corinthians 6:9–11).

The Spirit of Almighty God has total power to help anyone come out of homosexuality, alcoholism, drug abuse or any other addiction or perversion! As Paul indicated, "some" of those Corinthian Christians had been "sodomites," but they were now "washed and sanctified" by the Spirit of God. Over and over, in many different ways, God’s inspired word tells us that with God’s help, a sincere Christian may overcome any sin. As God inspired the Apostle Paul to tell us, "No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it" (1 Corinthians 10:13).

Is Homosexual Behavior SIN?

"But is homosexual behavior an absolute sin against God and the way He created us? Of course it is! We just read that practicing homosexuals "will not inherit the Kingdom of God." And in very plain language God describes the famous philosophers of Greece and Rome: "Professing to be wise, they became fools.… For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due. And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting" (Romans 1:22, 26–28).

God told the unconverted nation of ancient Israel, "You shall not lie with a male as with a woman. It is an abomination. Nor shall you mate with any animal, to defile yourself with it. Nor shall any woman stand before an animal to mate with it. It is perversion. ‘Do not defile yourselves with any of these things; for by all these the nations are defiled, which I am casting out before you. For the land is defiled; therefore I visit the punishment of its iniquity upon it, and the land vomits out its inhabitants’" (Leviticus 18:22–25).

It is obvious that God is telling us that such practices—if spread across an entire nation—would completely pervert the nation and bring God’s direct punishment upon such a sinful people. Therefore, as a nation, we need to deeply repent of condoning this lifestyle—and ask Him to help us truly turn to Him before it is too late!

Here, it is important to point out, that Christians—having the potential of the Holy Spirit and God’s help—are not to execute judgment upon homosexuals or anyone else! Christians are "strangers and pilgrims" in a society that essentially belongs to Satan the Devil (2 Corinthians 4:4). We are not to be of this world, nor to partake in its judgments or its wars. As Jesus said, "My Kingdom is not of this world. If My kingdom were of this world, My servants would fight, so that I should not be delivered to the Jews; but now My kingdom is not from here" (John 18:36).

Rather, when we encounter individuals involved in sinful behaviors such as alcohol abuse, drug abuse or homosexuality, we should try to help them. We should pray for them, and we should reach out to them if they are interested in changing. And we should try to develop the understanding and the wisdom to help guide them out of the horrible problems in which they find themselves involved. Just as there are groups of sincere people who help alcoholics and drug abusers overcome their problems, there are therapists and support groups that devote themselves to helping homosexuals "come out" of that wretched lifestyle. We should encourage anyone who wants to "come out" of homosexuality to do so.

There Is a "Way Out"

"In his aforementioned book on homosexuality, Dr. Satinover describes quite a number of organizations that have had success in helping individuals come out of the homosexual lifestyle and return, more or less, to "normalcy." Many former homosexuals have since married, had children and have a happy family (Homosexuality and the Politics of Truth, pp. 204–209). Satinover describes one typical group that experiences great success by combining "depth-psychology in a primarily group setting with healing prayer. Participants make an eight-month minimum commitment to a small group, which is focused on sexual redemption in Christ. For individuals who continue on and remain committed to the process for the long haul, Bergner reports success rates of over 80 percent" (p. 204). This is just one of many proofs—as can be verified by medical doctors, psychologists and sociologists who have worked with these groups—that help truly is available to all who want to come out of the homosexual lifestyle!

As for me, personally, I would say to all of you who have been involved in homosexuality: "God really does love you!" God is the Creator of every one of us. All human beings are made in His image. All are made with the potential to be full sons of God. The Bible tells us that God has given "the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name" (John 1:12). For God is a family. Your Father wants you to become part of that family, and He has special concern for you if you are willing to prove to yourself that He exists—and if you are willing to obey His inspired word.

The stakes are high! But God has total outflowing concern, which He showed by giving His only begotten Son to die for every one of us (John 3:16). He has promised to give us His Holy Spirit upon repentance and baptism (Acts 2:36–38). The Holy Spirit is the very mind and character of God implanted within us once we truly repent and accept Christ as our Savior, our Lord and Master, our High Priest and our soon-coming King.

Certainly, part of "coming out" of homosexuality involves completely turning away from this entire practice and from being involved with those people who may "drag" you right back into it! Scripture tells us, "Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body" (1 Corinthians 6:18–20).

Remember, you do not overcome smoking by "hanging around" others who smoke, by keeping cigarettes "handy" in case you wish to take a puff. You should not be making it "easy" to slip right back into your old habit. The same principle applies to homosexuality. For your good, think about this and take action! And always remember, there is a tremendous reward ahead for those who truly want to serve the God of creation and fulfill His will!

Each of us must be willing to go "all out" in order to attain the resurrection. Whether this involves coming out of homosexuality—or out of alcoholism, drug abuse or just plain selfishness—each of us must be willing to do our part wholeheartedly. And we are promised the help of a loving Father, and of a merciful High Priest who is at this moment sitting at God’s right hand, and is more than willing to hear our prayers (Hebrews 4:14–16). So, let us all love one another and pray for one another. We must have a profound outflowing concern for our homosexual relatives and acquaintances, and want deeply to help them in any way we can.

Long-time readers of this magazine understand that the United States and British-descended nations have been wonderfully blessed by God, being among His birthright people.

Yet, in a powerful prophecy given to our ancestors which definitely applies to us today, Almighty God warns us, "But if you do not obey Me, and do not observe all these commandments, and if you despise My statutes, or if your soul abhors My judgments, so that you do not perform all My commandments, but break My covenant, I also will do this to you: I will even appoint terror over you, wasting disease and fever which shall consume the eyes and cause sorrow of heart. And you shall sow your seed in vain, for your enemies shall eat it.… I will break the pride of your power; I will make your heavens like iron and your earth like bronze. And your strength shall be spent in vain; for your land shall not yield its produce, nor shall the trees of the land yield their fruit" (Leviticus 26:14–20).

If we, as a people, persist in affirming, legalizing and even "congratulating" those among us who practice a way of life God calls an "abomination," we must expect that a loving God will chastise us with increasing "terror"—or terrorist attacks—as the above prophecy indicates, with raging disease epidemics, alternating droughts, floods, fires and massive earthquakes. God will indeed "break" our national pride and power unless we genuinely repent.

God is not mocked! May He help each of us truly understand and turn to His ways while we still have the opportunity!

dude want my proof to validate everything i said then fine here it is

the entire time jesus was alive there is not one historian documenting his existence

quite frankly if a guy was walking on water and healing the blind im sure historians would have been taking note, dont you?

the only thing even mentioning him is the bible, and science has proven several things wrong countless times, but YOU are the one too ignorant to acknowledge it, you act as if a 2000yo book is still relevant today on how to live when everything in there was written for THOSE TIMES. you think if it was a real book then god would have given a heads up on computers and modern science to help christians better understand them but he doesnt even mention it. interesting isnt it?

im dont arguing with you because you obviously have no intellectual intelligence. your an appalling person and one who doesnt deserve a voice, so just do the world a favor and cut out your tongue and your fingers so u cant talk or type ever again, the world would be much more peaceful without your ignorance and hatred, stop creating enemies and learn to love everyone like your bible tells you to do. and stop justifying your hate with a refernece to the bible, you really need to learn to do the right thing not because your 2000yo book tells you to but because its the moral thing to do,that is what seperates good people (us) from bad people (you)

and if god protects us for being such good christians then explain europe, they have no where near as many problems as america. they are very tolerant and very peaceful and very few people in that continent are religious these days. that fully contradicts everything in your last statement, you forget that god is NOT an american and the whole world does not revolve around this country. so please spare the world your bigotry and stop preaching

I certainly am not surprised at your response, the proof you offer are your own words?, the existence of Christ and many biblical characters is well documented, just like I said in the previous post you and those like you want ignorant people to believe what you say but you offer not one ounce of proof to support your blatant, obvious, lies,  you want people to follow and embrace lifestyles that involve inserting penis in anus that is full of steaming infectious feces for sexual gratification.

It is also a known fact that homosexuals engage in a practice called rimming whereby they are so consumed by the lustful act that they insert their hands or tongues in their sexual partners anus or rectum extract the feces and eat it, it is also a proven fact that they insert foreign objects in their anuses for perverse sexual gratification like telephones, electronic devices, brushes, combs, canned food, small rodents like hamsters and gerbels, fruits and vegetables, and other can produce, all for sick, vile, perverse, sexual gratification, there are documented incidents of homosexuals and bisexuals being rushed into the emergency room with all manner of foreign objects stuck and lodged in their anuses, just do a search if you don't believe me and these are the same vile, filthy, practices that they want you to embrace people, but of course you probably know about these things already because you probably secretly engage in them yourself.

God protects true christians and I'm not talking about this false christianity that so many practice that teaches sunday worship and the false doctrine of salvation by grace through faith only that encourages and promotes rebellion to the commandments and word of God as a whole, but of course everything is not rosie because christians go through  trials and tribulations to develop character, patience, temperance, and all the good qualities that benefit men in the long run.

And americas problems stem from it's blatant defiance of Gods word with the promotion of these same perversions that you want everyone to embrace, if america does not repent by rejecting this filth and begin living by the commandments and word of God they are about to be attacked and destroyed by nuclear annihilation, first he is dissecting the nation by cursing it with all manner of natural disasters, floods, droughts, economic woes, famine and disease are soon to follow as well,  all because of these same filthy perversions you want everyone to embrace, these events have more to do with the swiftly approaching wrath of God on the nations as opposed to this man made global warming theory that they want you to believe, if the globe is warming it is because God is doing it to punish a sinful world God controls the weather, the deaths and blood of many of these people are going to fall on your own wicked head and the heads of those like you, make no mistake about it for lying, deceiving, and misguiding, these ignorant people to their own spiritual and physical destruction .

And if they still refuse to repent they will be attacked and destroyed by nuclear annihilation courtesy of the european union which is the reemergence of the third reich, all brought to pass by the hand of an angry God Deuteronomy 32:21-25, Jeremiah 25:31-36, Ezekiel 14:13-20, Proverbs 1:24-33, Isaiah 34:1-3 Zephaniah 1:14-18,these are just a few examples in scripture of the coming wrath of God, the only difference is they wont come this time with the swastikas but it will be quiet and subtle but with the same objectives and ideology world domination as it has been in the past, corrective punishment is beginning with the united states but will eventually spread to all other nations, the good thing about it is Christ is about to return to put an end to mans failed rulership over man and implement his way of life that only produces peace, happiness, life, and abundance.

America is simply cursed because of it's filthy sins the same filthy sins that you want people to be tolerant of, you compromise about who is going to take the kids to school, or who is going to cook dinner or wash the dishes etc, you never compromise with filthy, ungodly perversions, that lead to sorrow, disease, suffering, and death of nations and people both spiritually and physically, ever!

There is an amazing aount of energy individuals and groups waste on misguided efforts to set boundaries on adult behaviors or government actions. They take aim at funerals and other private events that are surrounded by public land, set up their protestors spreading hate and twist first ammendment rights into weapons instead of reasonable discourse. Freedom of speech allows all kinds of extrodinary garbage to be flung at innocent, vunerable people under the "cover" of a right. Make the protesters not only obtain a permit, but pay a fee to use the public land.  This is an ordinance that could be inacted locally and the fee could be expensive and used for police protection, clean-up and other expenses.  Surely, we have creative ways to stop these brazen, hatefilled, publicity hounds from misusing our laws without sinking to their level.  I don't remember the last time I didn't have the ability to turn off anything I found objectionable. You can't write enough laws with enough ifs ands or buts to prevent busybodies from getting in front of a news camera, but we can make it really hurt their pocketbooks.

The government is prevented form stopping these wing nuts by the first amendment, both free speech and the right to assemble are involved, and that is as it should be - for the government.

That doesn't stop the rest of us.  We can show up en masse where ever they are showing up. There are only a couple dozen of them, and it is easy to have a hundred or more against them.  No confrontation, just block the space between them and the funeral.  It's done all the time.  Don't talk to them, don't even look at them, no signs, no shouts out of respect for the fallen and the family, but if they do something in your community, show up!

Again what this group is doing is simply wrong but I certainly can understand the passion that hey have for opposing something so warped and disgusting, what the average person does not understand is that what the whole of society is doing negative or positively ultimately effects us all negatively or positively.

What the majority of people do mot understand is the terrible implications for fully embracing a lifestyle that is abhorrent to almighty God, they simply do not fully comprehend how much he detest these vile sex practices and the terrible punishment he has meted out on nations in the past that have practiced and promoted these same ungodly, spiritually and physically destructive lifestyles.

We as true Christians because we know and understand how he feels and how he punishes nations that embrace, practice, and promote, these behaviors because we understand the terrible consequences for doing so, it is are responsibility as lights in the world to get the warning message out, if the hearer refuses to repent after hearing the warning message then the sinner dies in his or her own sins and their own blood is upon their own heads.

If the follower of God, Christ, the Word,  does not warn knowing what they know then the blood of those misguided, lost, individuals falls on their own heads, this is why it is so important that we as true Christians speak out against these filthy, extremely offensive, behaviors and practices regardless of how others feel about it, but picketing a dead mans funeral is certainly not how it is supposed to be done, that is simply shameful. Ezekiel 3:17-21
