Hi DaElmer. Sorry you didn't get to make the big lottery investment. Maybe next time.

January 6, 2011

But are you amazed as me to WHERE it was linked to?? I was shown who caught the story.. Just LOVE how suddenly there was an assignment for it.. Hmmm, wonder where that idea came from?

Yeah, you inspired that. I thought we gave you a hat tip on that.

Hey, guys...I have a question regarding linking of pictures. If one were to post a picture, say, yesterday in a category (Antarctica) and come back tomorrow with additional pictures in the same category, will they be grouped together as coming from the same poster? Or will they be posted as separate entries on different days?

Happy New Year, everyone.  :o)

I noticed that the new travel destination is "North Africa."  What exactly do you consider North Africa?  The geographic entity of North Africa has no single accepted definition and depending on your source, may or may not include Niger, Chad, Sudan.... even Morocco and Egypt are sometimes disputed.  Therefore, may I please have a little clarification on which countries you are looking for?

January 6, 2011

I didn't see anything if you did.. I still wonder why Forbes picked my video to link too.. Should I be hope someone feels pity on me? lol

Hi Sundance2010 - They would be posted as separate iReports, but both would show up on your profile page. If you click on the link on your user name, you'll see what I'm talking about.

There's not a way to add new photos to an iReport.

Did that answer your question?

Hello iReport producers,

First and foremost I would like to say thank you very much for having a chance to talk with you.

I joined iReport 10 days ago. I'm from New York. I'm interested in photojournalism. Can you please tell me, what do the iReport team use to choose the news stories, videos, and photos? And please explain to me, how to empower our thoughts, photo shots, and in story writing.

January 6, 2011

Haven't said hello in about a year so thought it was a good time to do so.

While we're getting started I want to tell you about a change that is coming pretty soon.

I know we've talked about it a lot, but we will finally retire the Superstar tag in the next week or two.

What we're going to do is award everyone who's ever had the Superstar designation a badge on their profile page.

Then we'll just focus on awarding new badges to recognize people's activity.

@dsashin - In that case, I won't continue editing pix of Egypt.  So glad I asked.  Thank you.  :o)

I lived in Memphis for over 6 years, I can't say what the hometown people think of his birthday.. Not him personally, but that whole week of..

@joyful We'll check with the travel editors to verify, though.

The other thing we're planning to do is change the grid on the top of the iReporters' page to recognize the people who've been most recently vetted instead of the people with the highest scores.

Our hope is that it will make that page more dynamic and make the focus on meeting or learning about new people instead of advancing on a leader board.

January 6, 2011

@DaElmer...yes, I'm sure it's a traffic nightmare for the ppl that live in Memphis but it doesn't happen more than twice a year, birthday and anniv of his death.

@David, we will be curious to see what the changes will do. We will adjust..

January 6, 2011

@DaElmer -- yes, everyone's star will be disappearing. I think the star's were useful, but our community has outgrown the superstar system.

People get upset every time the formula updates and they lose their stars, so we want to focus on the badges that will be permanent.

Also the stars recognize a whole bunch of different things, so people get the same reward for posting iReports as they do for commenting or sharing stories on facebook.

The new system will better recognize what people are doing in the community.

January 6, 2011

OMG @ KCRep..

@Henry- 2nd story back on my reports... Video footage of another one??

January 6, 2011

I often thought about HOW CNN could keep star on People that have EVER gotten vetted, BUT give the stars different colors for different achievements..

Hi @myinthlaing. I just looked at your profile and you sent some great photos on the situation in New York.

We look at a lot of different factors when we're deciding what stories to vet. Newsworthiness, interesting stories, beautiful images are the big factors, but we're also looking for iReports that might complement stories CNN is working on.

A lot of times we get more good stories than we can vet, so we can't get to everything.

January 6, 2011

Sherbien is catching up to me, I better get moving;) lol

January 6, 2011

A LOT of the time I notice CNN probably gets ideas for stories from I-Reports.. Just like my 2nd story back can't be vetted I wouldn't think.. but this does link to a video of a news story in America.. While you might not vet us, you still look to see.. It works for me, that is why I do it..

@dsashin - i started ireporting last january 2010, my first vetted story is last march 2010 then as vetting goes on, i became active and addicted to ireporting then came may or june, i challenge myself to have 100 ireports vetted before the year ends... i went to every festivals, travel places, went to the hostage site and i can't forget how i gatecrash in the confirmation of charice pempengco. now i'm doing a tribute  of my 1 year of ireporting, the craziest things, my learnings and discoveries on ireporting, i haven't finish bec, i got tons of files and i really shoot bts of doing my ireports. i'm bloody crazy and i'm happy doing it....

i got also ireport list this 2011 but i don't have number to acheive, all i have is to have an edited ireport with interviewees. This are some of my list that I'll start doing later:

1.) A tour in the city of seven lakes

2.)I'll do different timelapses every month with different theme.

3.) School made of plastic bottles, yes plastic bottles and i set already an interview with Illac Diaz next Friday to explain why he made it etc...

4.) Bird Census - how do this experts survey how many birds are found in a certain area etc...

5.) Underground River

6.) Success story of how residents in Palawan increased the population of hornbills in rasa Island

7.) Love affair with nature - ireport on valentines day

etc....

@daelmer - I have already planned ireports till feb... and on june, i already set an interview with a man addicted to space and a new york bestseller author is doing a book about him.... :)

@Sherbien- I have a video of a guy that carries a Utility Pole around town. When I captured him, he didn't have the 100 ft of logging chain on like he normally does. I'll be getting together with him this spring to discuss his story. I can't believe a guy CARRYING a utility pole didn't get vetted.. lol

January 6, 2011

Better yet if they took my story from YouTube;)lol I need a good viral video... Now there is an over used word- "Viral"
