Why would one wish to do so? I think the question is evidence of our national attention deficit disorder. I suppose I am old school, but I think our so-called "social media" is simply an excuse for already distracted people to become even more distracted...not by important issues of the day, but by superficialities. A campy movie released a few years back called "Idiocracy" is a scary version (albeit someone funny)of where we are headed.

Yeah, all major corporations hire people through companies like People Answers who falsely claim to know how to read an employees performance DNA. No wonder we are al slaves or unemployed. Obama plans to cut $400,000,000,000 ($400 Billion) from the Federal Deficit of $14,000,000,000,000 ($14 Trillion) over the next ten years. WOAH! That's a lot. Wait, that's 0.29% of the Deficit on annual basis. Get back to the drawing board, Mr. President.

Talk on the educational performance was a flat lie in his speech. We are slagging behind India and China and even rest of the world! He shouldn't have over-exaggerated. We have oversimplified education for our kids. Every thing that is difficult is removed from the syllabus. Moreover, all the academic institutes are in cut-throat competition to gain maximum admissions rather than maximum performance and expectation from the students. Academic institutes are no less than McDonald where you go with money and get the degree. Faculties in large institutes and universities don't bother about student's performance as they are focused in generating funding for their own research and teach in burden so passing 'duffers' is easy and quick option then failing them and facing the students with questions. Small community college type institute's faculty pass the students as they have to maintain their jobs for which passing is must to continuously getting new student. An institute that fails in America is not worth the education nor it has any profiting business potentials! Do you need to know Mr. President? Send me an e-mail.

@AshK Quite the opposite, he acknowledged the American decline in educational attainment/performance and made his position on education, technology, science and mathematics very clear; he was advocating for drastic improvement in these areas. The simple fact is science, technology and education need to be at the forefront of what we celebrate as "important" in our culture, and we need to refocus on this fact. If we do this, everything else will follow.

@tubb great catch there, but if you see the state budgets for many states they have unanimous agreement on cutting the spending of education. Which way we will achieve this.
Education has to be taken as a war else as he said that we will have best campuses (for research) in which foreigners will come do research and empower their own nations. Believe me the state of education in any field is more than worst. We need war level efforts to revitalize it and Education being the founding stone of America, if left unaddressed other than speeches, will adversely affect the nation. I feel an urgent need to address Education than Iraq, Iran or North Korea. The home grown intellectual potential of our land is falling in the hands of Made in Japan, wii type games and now we have very few Edisons!

When twitter first came out, I got an account, and have never used it, because I quickly realized, what's the point of a medium that that effectively negates the communicating anything substantive? I don't see tweeting as filling some communication niche - we already have advertising slogans, one sided missives from companies; tweeting seems similar, in that the only tweet to be looked forward to are the ones that fawning fans expect from their favorite celeb. Otherwise, do I want to hear a tweet from my friends? NOt really, just send a text, or email. It just goes to show, the people that developed and backed tweeting, must have been rather cynical to think such an insignificant mode of communication would take over, ultimately.

Maybe the hospitals should stop charging $25 for an aspirin, or $300 for 15 minutes of a room visit. Control the costs and that will be a good place to start to make it more affordable, but healthcare will likely never be free. Dream on.

Obama's State Of the Union speech was just another case of:
Same Stuff Different Day (SSDD)...cleaned up for publication purposes.
He gave platitudes to reducing the debt, fixing his stinking health care bill and creating jobs. I do not want the healthcare bill repealed, only fixed where it will actually do some good.
I'm on Social Security Disability and had to change my Medicare Advantage plan because the one I've been with for 3 years pulled out due to new "rules and regulations" in the healthcare bill.
My prescription costs went from $300 each month to almost $700, plus I will hit the "doughnut hole" in July instead of November. I will get the prescriptions at "half price" once I do hit the "doughnut hole" which just means I will have scrounge around to come up with $1200 each month for prescriptions. Since I still have to live, I won't be getting my drugs after I hit the hole.

Has the million in savings been passed on to the health care consumer no. In fact I have not even been paid for my invention. Take the $25 for Tylenol and the $300 15 minute room visit. The cost keep going up but when millions of dollars are saved nothing is passed back to the consumer. And I have to pay the same as everyone else for health care.

Wan to reduce spending? Go after fraud, waste and abuse in every aspect of federal spending and end the senseless wars in the Middle east which only serve to create MORE terrorists as they bankrupt this country.
Why don't the pols or the CNN talking heads EVER mention a word about targeting fraud, waste and abuse. Fraud is rampant in federal spending especially in the areas of Medicare and Medicaid. State of the Union Speech - Same verse, second stanza!
I can sum it up in less than 140 characters: "Pipe Dream"....I watched the entire speech and came away from it thinking that Obama is more focused on the future than he seems to be on being able to survive the PRESENT! The future won't matter much if we can't get a firm grip on today's reality. People are still struggling in the worse way. I don't care or believe what all of the "opinion polls" are reporting. The TRUTH is that the middle class is taking it up the wazoo. Obama talked at length about the "outs" we need to focus on. Here are a few more for HIM to focus on. The American public is OUT of work, OUT of patience, OUT of hope, and OUTraged over how our governmental official have hijacked this country. We want them to stop holding our country and our ideals hostage to pipe dreams and empty promises. WE WANT OUR COUNTRY BACK! (and no, I am not an "Obama-hater." I hate any form of irresponsible governement, regardless of which side of the aisle they decide to sit on during "prom night" (AKA The SOTU Speech!)

Wondering why anyone would tell a young person to become a teacher. Maybe other parts of the country are different, but in northeast Ohio districts like Akron has shut down many of its schools and has laid off teachers. It is impossible to find a job! I know the same situation exists in Detriot...why would anyone encourage young people to enter an oversaturated job market?
If the towns and city’s are bankrupt and the county’s and state’s are bankrupt that means the federal government is also bankrupt if not who is the federal government getting money from?

I thought our schools and colleges were for Americans to go to school and college. And I thought it was up to other countries to educate foreigners living in their country’s.

Most schools require a 4 year degree at a university to become a teacher.
Bill2002, shoot, in Texas they require a 4 year degree just to be a social worker. I was told that they require that so that they have a good chance of hiring a person that can read and write and form a complete paragraph to explain a problem. When in Tenn, I saw an add for postal workers. It said that you must have a diploma and BE ABLE TO READ AND WRITE. Does that mean that you can get a diploma without being able to read or write?
Summary 1: In order to make progress people need to retire. Green tech. will help with bills b/c other necessary bills are already taking their place. They need to help family down-lines pay for everything while in this transition.
(We can't openly say that the new middle class is in IT or we wouldn't get re-elected.)
Cont. or Summary 2: Those who thrive (innovation+sales via technology) already realize the world is our new marketplace(ex. China, Brazil, India, etc.). Those who are stubborn with change = new middle class.

Mubarak can not oversee the "transition" from the Old Egypt to the New Egypt. He can not be trusted with this responsibility. His henchmen can not be trusted with this either. In Mubarak's speech last night, he promised to punish all those who have "taken advantage" of the situation. Then promptly after that, we see Mubarak supporters attacking the peaceful protestors... even peaceful men will defend themselves. When Mubarak was asked to transition his government into the new Egypt, I believe he said OK, but this violent outburst is his definition of orderly transition in my opinion. It matches all the reports of brutality that the protestors are complaining about. I believe that the protestors are the only ones who can be trusted with the "transition." That may mean that the US and the EU will have to try to foster a new relation with the New Egypt, but that's democracy. There is no vote of confidence as clear as the one happening right now in Egypt. The majority of the people have absolutely no confidence in Mubarak or his regime, and nothing can be done to change that. I've been watching the events closely, and I believe that the people of Egypt will not budge or compromise at all. The protestors are the New Egypt and Mubarak and his supportors are the old. The transition has begun, but Mubarak and his regime can not be trusted with overseeing the transition. The people of Egypt are not illiterate. They are competent and capable of organizing and fostering the transition. If they can organize the protests with that kind of discipline and devotion, they can organize a new regime. Fears of the new regime's position with regard to the US and the EU are actually worsened by the US and EU's desire to see Mubarak's regime oversee the transition of authority. He may have been an ally to US, but he obviously was not an ally to his people. I know guys who are cool with me, but if the guy's raping his daughters and beating his sons, it really doesn't matter how nice he is to me. Virtue has a higher call than my pleasant and profitable dealings with the guy. Before this exploded, I didn't know what Mubarak was really like, but I saw an accountant who had been tortured by Mubarak's regime, for having a car accident and damaging a street light in the process of the car accident. Really??? Who the hell is he? Recognize the people and let Mubarak not only leave office but relinquish authority over the transition process. Not Mubarak and not any of his henchmen can transition Egypt. The Egyptians are our brothers in humanity, and they need us to give Mubarak no encouragement to oversee the transition of power. It won't create a void; they are organized. He's going to lose anyway. I believe that Anderson Cooper was probably attacked by Mubarak supporters; and mainly because Cooper did the interview with the guy from Vienna:... ElBaradei. ElBaradei is defying Mubarak and Cooper gave him a platform. It matches Mubarak's promise to punish everyone who has tried to take advantage of the situation. That's how I see it. I am not supporting ElBaradei as a replacement for Mubarak, but I am identifying what appears to be the tactics of an oppressive evil regime. We can not support him, not even in a trasition of power. I am an American and a Christian. I have degree from Georgetown University. I am a commodities trader, and currently making no money - just like a lot of other americans. I listen to rap music. I'll probably watch the superbowl. I have never been to Egypt, and I support the protestors in Liberation Square!!!!
Also, I was watching the events on the news and I saw a number of scenes with lots of warning shots. Each warning shot probably comes with a slug that could do way more than warn. If a warning shot is all you want to acomplish, a separate stash of blanks would be sufficient. If the casing has a slug..., yes the slug will go up in the air making a loud noise, but it will also come back down!!!! Kids and innocent people can catch one of these warning shots on it's way back down. Blanks have no slug!!!! I support the protestors and I think the individual soldiers of the military feel an inherent connection with them.
I seriously wathed until Obama came out. but i can tell ya what he said and i will give you my opinion. i will be president when i'm 40! this country needs a working man with no poitics education. every politician is taught the same things in school and so it keeps going down hill. I would close the road to china to start. how is buying everything from other countries doing our economy any good? seriously, nobody thought that our economy would go down buying everything from china, malaysia, japan, etc. Our economy is never going to get better as long as we are buying everything from china instead of our own country. Second, they complain about a budget that is getting waaaaaaaaay out of hand. my answer to this, stop the war on terrorism that will never end because there will always be terrorism in the world and cut costs in places such as: clinics that supply known drug addicts with free drugs(how are they being helped?), every government official should make about 50% less than they do(work for what you get paid: they take this to the extreme), and war. if a war needs to happen you will know it. Being that Bush did business with the Bin Ladin family i would say the whole war was setup to jack up oil prices for Cheeney's company. I am also a firm believer that they should bring back public hangings to teach our children of the consequences that accompany breaking the law. i would go as far as if you steal, cut ur fingers off. if you murder, you should be killed. if you rape you should get your **** chopeed off and you should choke on it. now with that said, our tax dollars are going to pay for continuous repeat offenders of these crimes to live a free life in jails and prisons...but they bitch about a budget haha! i think government is corrupt and will end just like iraq. we will be in a civil war just like the 3rd world country we are( turning into ). i have alot more political views and if you are interested email me at clix2fix@yahoo.com. i will be running for president when i'm 40 whether anybody likes it or not. but if you enjoy living in a broke country that owes china more money than it makes in 50 years then don't email me. Does America know that the Area on aging transit system is taking Americans for a Ride???...They are charging the government $12.00 to take one person whom is not in need of any assistance getting on or off the bus 1.5 miles oneway, that is $24.00 for a 3 mile trip....I called a Taxi service and was charged $4.80 for a oneway trip....Now lets be conservative and say that 1 million people ride the Area on aging transit aday and that they only go 3 miles to and from their appointments...That would add up to 24 million dollars aday or around 8 billion a year!!!!!!!!!!!!..Can i get a "WOW"?....So i ask you Mr President; before you take money from our Students and our poor people,Please Take a look at these Inner gov't programs like this one that our taking advantage of our elderly and disabled while the United States is going deeper into Debt, Now i am no Economist, But if i can come up with and expose an 8 billion dollar a year ' Scam ' then you and your administration can do a better job.
