I have to leave but hope to be back before the roundtable ends, but, if I'm not, I have a question about vetting.  This really is a question, I am not posting in the assignment.  It's about the royal invitation assignment.  The requirement are clearly stated as "Open to legal residents of the 50 United States and D.C."  Although I would LOVE to see sunrthra get to go, she is not a resident of the US, my question is why was this vetted?  I'm confused, not hard to do lol.

HAMMER: All right, right now I have to tell you about this. It`s an awesome new royal wedding contest that just launched today. You can enter today to win a chance to be CNN`s official iReporter at the wedding of Prince Williams and Kate Middleton.

ANDERSON: Yes. All you have to do is make an original video, no more than 90 seconds, please, telling us why you would be the ideal royal wedding iReporter.

We`re already getting some iReports on this. Take a listen to Shari from Sri Lanka.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

SHARI, IREPORTER FROM SRI LANKA: I would like to participate in the royal wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton. I have been an ardent fan of the royal family and collect all the books on the royal family, whatever stuff, magazines, notes, news from newspaper articles and these are all the books that I got throughout the years.

(END OF VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: Yes, clearly a big fan, Shari. Thank you so much for that.

I have a question for David and crew. I was thinking of approaching my daughters school with an idea to enlist each one of her classmates as an iReporter and then tech them how to file an iReport as a class project or maybe more like 6 groups of 3.

Has anything like this been done? Would this contravene any exiting iReport rules?

March 17, 2011

Hello @seeitnow - currently there is a rule that iReporters must get parental permission when under 13, and when under 18 if they plan to go on camera.

Hey DaElmer...

March 17, 2011

Yes but of course we would get permission from the school and the parents, maybe it could even be an after school iReporters activity or something. as for support maybe we could work with iReport to turn it into a bit of a contest with the best of the best becoming vetted for example.

I'm curious if anyone knows if this has been done?

A few days ago Ireporttwo posted an Ireport about a California college student's rants on youtube and another student's response. Her Ireport was pulled down within 3-4 minutes of being posted and didn't come back up, then the next day PDXSERIC (?) posted an identical Ireport that stayed up. There seems to be a disparity on what Ireports get pulled

@sbeasla As soon as we launched cultural census, we were hit with SXSW and the Japan quake almost simultaneously. Those have been getting all our attention in the past weeks. But don't worry, we're still super-excited about census and will begin vetting those very soon. My goal is to have all the (legitimate) census iReports vetted, so it may take a bit of time, but it'll happen. :)

Hi NuYwk, Sorry for delay in answering. I had to run upstairs for a second. I haven't been in a position to investigate that because I'm traveling this week. I'm going to check it out thoroughly and make sure that all of our moderators are on the same page.

I haven't seen either post you mentioned, but if they're pretty much the same they either both should have been pulled or neither one should have been.

It does need to be consistent.

In continuing with the issues raised now by several countries and organizations about the paucity of information forthcoming from the Japanese government about the specifics of their efforts in containing what threatens to be the worst industrial accident ever, I would like to know whether any consideration has been given to the use of robots in:

1. Gathering video and other sensory data from the accident sites that are current inaccessible to humans due to radiation.

2. Performing tasks such as clearing paths within the plant that may currently be clogged by debris, in order to allow quick sorties by humans in protective suits to perform tasks such as electrical connections, etc.

Miniature flying robots would seem to be the answer to the problems of not knowing anything about the current conditions inside several of those buildings that house the reactors. There are several other possibilities that universities here in the US and perhaps even in Japan could help with - dropping remote sensing equipment at vital locations in the highly-irradiated zones of plant, using large balloons that can carry water to fly over the reactor containers and releasing the water when they are exactly over the containers (not just having it dropped from a height just to have the water disperse over a large area, mostly outside the required zone)... perhaps a good Hollywood team could come up with several more !

It may quite be that these ideas are infeasible but I, for one, would at least like to know that such factors have been considered and rejected, if at all ! Why is the media not taking the lead in covering this angle ?

Thank you very much for the Spirit Award. I was able to view the live stream but have friends and relatives that did not get to see it. Is there anyway it can be posted some where on the site for those that were able to view? I understand a few of the honorees were not able to view.

I have one more question...

Why are all contests only open to US citizens?

iReporters from all over the world contribute to CNN.

There is a CNN International. I understand about visa's passports and budgets. I am just wondering is there any other reason ireporters from around the world can not enter CNN contests.
