I am new to iReport. To upload a video for mycitymysecret do I just upload with all the rest or is there a special place or instructions? Are they chosen to feature from all uploads or a special category? May I keep uploading videos about my city after the initial one?

When oil was at $140.00 a barrel two years ago gasoline was at $4.00 a gallon, now at $100.00 a barrel gasoline is already at $4.00 a gallon. What do you call this? Sometime ago when it was at around $50.00 or $60.00 a barrel diesel was cheaper than gasoline, what is these oil companies trying to manipulate.Free enterprise is understood here.I think it is price gauging in the name of free enterprise.Discuss this at the roundtable

Teachers recently have begun to retire at an earlier age instead of being in the teaching business for far longer. Why is this? Florida is planning on making the teacher's salary based on Student test scores. When you place these two together, teacher will not teach students who skip school everyday or never do their homework. This is how we treat the people who hold the future of our kids in their hands? While students may score badly on tests, that does not mean teachers are lacking in their ability to teach. It is simply because a child chooses not to learn or can not handle the pressures of a test. The child may have an A or B in the class, but are very bad test scores. How can you base a salary off of that?

What's happening in North Carolina is the emergency extended unemployment benefits that were provided for the now 40,000 plus unemployed North Carolinian's are being held hostage for over a month by the Republicans and the governor of the state Beverly Perdue.  It has been well over a month now (since April 16th) that we have had our benefits cut off due to a bill that was vetoed by the governor because of a clause that was "snuk" in by republicans that would cut the state's budget by 6 figures.  The emergency extended benefits  are Federally funded and has nothing to do with the state's budget but yet is being held hostage.  The governor stated that she would sign a clean bill if one was placed on her desk, but the republicans have yet to do so (this was stated before April 16th).  We are now in the middle of march and people are going hungry, loosing their homes and are having utilities turned off because their benefits are not being reinstated.  Other states have had similar problems we are having, but have since solved it by recalculating the formula which would reinstate their benefits, and their people didn't even see a ripple in their unemployment benefits.  However, the State of North Carolina can't seem to get it together to help their own people whom they have elected into office.  I blame both the Governor of the state as well as the republicans who are all holding hostage the 40,000 plus unemployed citizens of North Carolina over a stale mate on their ends.  Numerous calls, letters and emails have been sent to the offices of these republicans, the Governor, even the white house and the response we've been given was nothing was being done about it as of now.  In the mean time, here we site stuck in the middle of a battle between the Governor(democrat) and the republicans over a state budget which has nothing to do with our benefits which we are not receiving because of.

The unemployed workers of North Carolina are trying to bring attention that our extended unemployment benefits are being held hostage by the GOP. They have tied federal funded unemployment benefits and tied them to a state bill they knew would not be excepted by the Governor. Our Governor Bev Purdue  is calling it extortion. There is at least 45,000 people cut off from their checks as of now, that started on April 16. There has been about 2,000 a week since then cut off from their benefits and will be about 2,000 every week. The GOP wanted the Governor to take a 13.5 percent state budget cut in order to let unemployment to continue. It has been a standoff ever since with 45,000 families used as pawns in this political game. It seems no one cares about these N.C. families.

It's a sad state of affairs in North Carolina.  Over 45000 North Carolinian's are suffering at the hands of Phil Berger and Thom Tillis (Republican Senate and House Leaders)  as well as Governor Bev Perdue who refuses to do anything.  They've all turned their back on these poor people as they lose their homes and children starve.  This could be fixed in a day but more pressing bills make the calendar such as a bill making NASCAR the State sport and a Resolution to Celebrate Cinco de Mayo.

May 19, 2011

More then 45,000 unemployed workers have had their extended benefits cut on April 16. Governor Purdue(dem) vetoed a bill that would have fixed this problem because it included budget cuts. She has asked for a stand a lone bill she can pass but the GOP wants nothing to do with that so the extended unemployment fight in Raleigh has been put on the table until June 7. Meanwhile 2,000 people a week continue to loose their unemployment benefits. The unemployeed are being held hostage over their benefits while the parties play chicken to see who will give in first.

Oand for the person who said 140$ a barrel its 98$..! I remember a few years ago barrel prices were much higher esp. during iraq war. Its those gasoline companies marking up the prices if you look at Exxon for say u see that they are up more then 12% this year so please stop using barrel prices as a scapegoat and blame it all on libya and obama and war (E.T.C)

Hi everyone. I am generally here to bring forth awareness to our ever decaying social system here in America by exposing the corruption and injustice of our government and the inadequacies of every major social institution that it has been founded upon. I also have a particular interest in exposing the true contributions of African people to humanity minus the lies that have been propagated by historians, archeologists, linguist, psychologist, sociologist, and the likes, to restore the worldview of African people to its proper place.

I am interested in the correlation between big businesses' profits and unemployment. I hear that measured unemployment is down, however this is unemployment by that are documented. There is a great percentage of Americans that do not, and will not collect unemployment benefits, or they do not qualify. I think what this could help expose is how corporations are spending the capital they would normally spend on these employees, and how that correlates back to the economy.

I believe that if we, as a nation are honest with ourselves, we would see that "total unemployment" is up, there are people out there not receiving benefits. Also companies are hiring at lower wages (unless you work for Google,  or Facebook).

Lastly I work for a company that sells High Tech Infrastructure to the Fortune 1000. Last year we had our biggest record year as a company yet, this year we are expected to shatter last years profit and gross numbers. Where are the new hires?

Please stop the bickering over jobs... there aren't enough jobs in the US for the talent available in the workforce... PERIOD, so those who want to take a jab at the long-term unemployed, go take a walk.  I am jobless in NC... I just begged for a 25K position... BEGGED.  My W-2 from 2008 was 127K.  I have an MBA from Tulane and never accepted a hand-out.  I find people jobs for a living so let me tell you when someone tells you the're aren't enough jobs.  I AM PROOF.  I have exceed the minimum search requirements to earn my UI benefits, sold all my personal belongings including my wedding rings to make the payments... maybe all I needed was two more months who knows... but now the NC EB debate has me homeless in two weeks... what's my MBA gonna help me with that?  I call the Democrats and they say they support restoring the benefits... I call the Republicans and they tell me it's the governor's fault.  Yes, this is politics for them but it's EVERYTHING I've worked for, for MY ENTIRE career/life hanging in the balance of this ONE DAY BILL! Republican leaders say they passed the bill, governor vetoed but they adamantly tell their peers NOT to sign the discharge petition to help the suffering.  Only 4 Democrats are needed to vote for a veto override but the Republicans say a veto isn't on the agenda.  WHO IS TELLING THE TRUTH.  PLEASE HELP

Blame the politicians for not sending to your monthly check dude the big picture is that there are many who are unemp. but how can you differentiate between those abusing and those not. why should hardworkers pay for those who just choose to stay home?

Chief i agree with u the unemp. is rated for documented americans and immigrants. But i would say that those who are undocumented shouldnt be supported by our taxpayers..!

Sigh we blame government for everything huh? According to record there are more than 300m people in the usa which are most likely documented KEY WORD DOCUMENTED AND LEGALLY LIVING IN THE USA

Ushi 21 Have a Heart for "Baby".....Here is a special story for all animal lovers...I am an American living in Switzerland where the "cow" is supposed to be a symbol of national identity but not here in Kreuzlingen Switzerland. My home borders a farm that will be shut down in order to make room for apartments and the entire herd of fifty some cows will be slaughtered over the coming months. I have been working diligently to save two cows that I was able to build a special relationship with, "Mama" and her calf "Baby" but the farmer has gone to special lengths to block all of my efforts using blackmail, insults, animal abuse and all and everything in and out of the confines of Swiss law. I have garnered some neighborhood support but I still fall short of the major support needed to rescue these  special animals. Two weeks ago the farmer butchered "Mama" and only "Baby" and her new born calf remain. "Baby has a perfect white heart on her right front leg (she is a black and white Holstein mixed breed.)Any ideas or support about rescuing "Baby" would be greatly appreciated......please have a heart for "Baby"

I am a 52 year-old veteran and have no extended family.

I am 12 days away from being unable to pay the rent. I have $255.00 in the bank. Why is the North Carolina GOP keeping $1,840.00 from me? What am I supposed to do? Food, gas, electricity??

I don't even have enough money to rent a u-haul and put my furniture in storage while staying at the Salvation Army.

All the North Carolina GOP wants to say is “we passed it but the Governor vetoed it” stuff. Everyone knows the NC GOP in the General Assembly attached an unnecessary “POISON PILL” to the EB bill and dared the Governor to veto it.

Why doesn’t the GOP show the 45,000 and counting families ( myself included) that they don’t want to see us suffer any longer?

If the extended benefits are not released before June 1st I will not only be unemployed for the first time in my life, but I will be homeless for the first time in my almost 53 years.

I am at the end of my rope.  WE NEED HELP, NOT BLAME.

Why does the media obsess on the private lives of public citizens?  Does it really matter what an individual does as long as it's between two consenting adults and no one is hurt?  It is really no different than those who try to tell others how to live their lives- ie: gay marriage, pro choice.   What this does is deters our public dialogue from the critical issues at hand ie: economy, foreign affairs?  Why can't the media play a role in informing the public about issues so we can be better participants in our democracy?

Is it any wonder China is getting ahead economically?  Last week at the trade talks, China asked for more technology from the United States.  For our part, the United States asked for improvement with human rights.  I firmly believe in human rights but I also wonder how much effect we can have with this sort of public request.  Are we better off as a country when we make such requests and give up our trade secrets?

Aniket91 - It depends on where you live, whether it will be good or bad.  The US and it's citizens have now painted a large red target for retaliation.  If they can't do it on our soil, they will do it on someone else's soil.  The question becomes, depending how the politics play out here in the US after such an attack, it could be real bad for the country it happened in.  Did killing him end the war on terror?  No, of course not, it was never met too.  The industrial warmachine that President Dwight D. Eisenhower warned about is here.  And they used 9/11 to insure that it does not go away for quite awhile.

It ought to be clear that after almost 60 years of fighting over the same land, neither Israelis or Palestinians find that the fighting is "unsustainable," as Pres. Obama said it was in his speech, meaning it's unsustainable for us. Fmr. Sec. of State Henry Kissinger once said that the US ought not want peace more than Palestinians & Israelis. But we apparently now do. So why can't we stop this nonsense that Pres. Obama & Sec. Clinton keep claiming that "ultimately" peace is up to the two belligerents, when clearly, their foreign allies and secret financiers abroad want them to keep fighting in the hopes that one of them will eventually sue for peace. But the leader of the Palestinians, Mahmoud Abbas, and Hamas, are both puppets, and the puppet master, who vetoes any peace initiative at the last moment to then engage another US president in the same futile process,  seems to be somewhere abroad. And the hardliners of Israel's position aren't in the lively debate columns of the Israeli newspapers. They live in New York, Connecticut, Toronto, Berlin, Moscow, Rome, Prague, Warsaw, Paris, Buenos Aires, Los Angeles, Chicago, and Brookline, Massachusetts. Didn't we see how powerful this foreign lobby with veto over Israeli politics was when they forced Israelis to reject the change in a definition of a Jew law proposed by the Orthodox Jewish parties in Israel? Where do we see the maximum demands of the hard right parties in Israel? In the letters to the Washington Post, the Los Angeles Times, the New York Times, and White House blogs. So isn't it time the US faced the conclusion that Kissinger's Middle East policy vector was wrong? Not only do we want peace between Israel and Palestine more than they do, but we have the will and the power to force a democratic peaceful solution to their conflict on them, as we have the resources to do so on the Iraqis, the Afghanis, and the Libyans.

@MCAH78: re: China and trade secrets...

The issue isn't really trade secrets, its the tade-off we (America) makes in the cheap labor equation. We need/want cheap (more like "slave" labor) because we don't want to pay $1,000 for an iPhone or $3,000 for a laptop, so we ignore the human rights abuses and the fact that a Communist country is loaning money (at interest) to a capitalist one, while the Communist country is excelling the world in true capitalist labor practices because there are no labor abuse checks over there. The bottom line rules.

This whole shameful episode in NC lies solely with Berger, Tillis, McComas, Laroque, and people of their ilk who has lost all credibility as legislators and human beings. When my wife and I both lost our jobs, I was a construction superintendent and she is a landscape architect, we had two kids incollege, two in braces, and one starting school. We have since lost our home to foreclosure, I took one of the boy's braces off with a pair of pliers because we couldn't pay for them. Now we will be forced to move again, cast our two that graduate this year out because we cannot afford to support them at college like their brother and sister, who has since graduated. We can't pay for car insurance, medical bills, etc. I spent 27 years in construction so I'm no stranger to hard work, the fact is none. The NC GOP is filled with avaristic, duplicitous liars who have no business in public office. Thankfully they will have to pay the piper come election time.

Good afternoon. I am a man living in the Florida region of North America. The issue on my mind today is the legal basis of what constitutes a Name. For the majority of my life, I was under the assumption that the Name given to me by my parents, was my Name. I question the legality of such a name that I did not choose for myself. In fact, I question the legal basis that requires me to represent a Name to begin with. In my opinion, a Name is nothing more than a fictitious entity that exists solely on paper and in digital records as kept by a court of record. I, on the other hand, am a Living Being that exists in a physical form in a real way. I am curious to what others might think about this issue.

I became a new ireporter last week when the small city of Shelton CT was all over the national news regarding a oy who taped cardboard letter to the H.S. to invite a girl to the prom. He was suspended and disallowed to attend, then of course that decision was reversed.  The Mayor of the city was on a popular morning radio show & it was video taped, but I could not get it to post. It was a great bit!  I will try again next time news is breaking for one of my clients in CT.

We got off to a bit of a faster start than I expected, so let me take a minute to tell you about CNN iReport and let you know how it works.

Basically, iReport is your opportunity to cover the news with CNN.

We invite members of our community to share their photos, videos and stories or to discuss the issues that are important to them.

Then, CNN producers reach out to submitters to verify their information so that we can approve their iReports for possible use on CNN.

We can't vet everything, but we try to get the best, original material.

I'm also in Mississippi because I'm a resident, and although I'm not in any danger regarding the flooding since I'm 20 miles away from the river, it's still going to affect all of us in this region of the country because one of the largest and busiest ports is underwater and the currents are creating a lot of problems for the barge traffic, and the loading crane is submerged and the railway tracks, the more commonly used method of transporting goods out of the port, are also under water, as is the main Ethanol facility for this region.

Here's an interesting observation.  Went a kid strait out of high school, that never acedemically excelled, can make over a million dollars a year for playing sports.  You wonder why kids don't want to do well in school.  This gives them dreams that they too can get rich quick, so what's the point of studying?  Same can be said for Youtube now adays.  We used to lead the world in Health, Math and Sciences; now we are barely staying in the top 40 countries.  Our education system for kids is based off a system that deals with smaller rural towns, it was never able to handle Large inner cities.  Colleges should have never been for Profit.  Once that happened, they priced tuition our of range for over 50% of the local population, which inturn cause the schools to bring in new students from over seas to help balance the books.  Yet there are capiable students here in the US that never get the chance because of cost.

NC politicians are using the Unemployed as bargaining chips by attaching state budget cuts to a bill to provide unemployment benefits to those in desperate need of help. We are not welfare recipients expecting a "hand out" check. We are the previously employed members of society who have always paid our taxes into a system that is designed to help in this type of situation. We are not being represented in the state of NC by informed or competent leadership. We are the people that are usually the long term employed. We are your Veterans, your Electricians, your Health Care Providers. We are the people that you depend on every day. Most of us have paid taxes to the state of NC for decades and NEVER had to file for unemployment. This is an extraordinary time of need for many of us. The lack of compassion for passing a stand alone bill to extend unemployment benefits is beyond any words I can use to describe the actions of the NC leadership. Your actions will not be forgotten.

Though it's not one of the "hot" topics being worked on...I would suggest a eye (or I) should be kept on the big banks, the ones that caused this mess, the ones that continue to pay their senior management millions in bonuses and have yet to change even one way they practice "finance".  No one has gone to jail, no one has been indicted and so on.  Being the "Third Estate" the press has to hold a spotlight on this issue, while politicians want to sweep it all under the rug.

Hi Dave,

I think you need some focus here on what this roundtable is about. When I got your invitaion to attend I was a little curious and so got on google and checked out the URL to make sure I hadn't been led into some sort of phishing or whatever.

The initial invite should contain:

1.A minimum explanation as to what it is about. POint to the assignment page or something and use that as a point of departure.

2.Some graphics to make it look like ... well ... it's professional and not a hacker!

3.Some explanation as to where you got my email address .. like because you posted (here) we thought you might like to go (there) also.

Things like that

So, that aside, perhaps I will do  little piece on Arab Spring and Pres. Obama's speech. To me he was right on the point. And no I wouldn't seriously concider writing about my prom night which perhaps means only that I am too old for your iReport

My main concern is ... the online is skyrocketing.  It is phenomenal beyond our wildest imaginations and cnn.com has yet to use the captions for Deaf people.  And these days, 3-D films are quite popular and they have yet to use captions or subtitles for Deaf people to enjoy the movie experience.

This discrimination has to stop!  CNN, when will you be bold in doing this?  C'mon, youtube & google did their part.  So did Hulu.com -- where are you, CNN?

@JoyfulGypsy We reached out to some illustrators to get their take on the assignment. Some are serious, others, like the seatless bicycle, more humorous (though you'll see from the producer note that he had a more serious point).

@bduley1  I responded too, and that's an amazing and wonderful thing that's happened via Facebook, but you must refresh the page to see new responses, and it is rather lengthy.  Because of my activity on a Christian Post full of bigot and haters I chose a rather strange user name, so I should identify myself here.  My name is "Jordy"

Cheers! Looking forward on exchanging views on this or any other topic.

Luckily we haven't had any rain here in Mississippi or north of us, which is why the river is cresting at 57.1 feet instead of higher, but 5 inches didn't save thousands who are out of work or displaced from their homes, and economically we'll all suffer from the Port Of Vicksburg's predicament.

Folks, I'm trying to get a sense of the feelings out there post bin Laden's death. Needless to say, the vitriol STILL continues in some circles against the President, and there are also loud rumblings about the role played by enhanced interrogation techniques in general, and waterboarding in particular.

I'd love to hear your overall thoughts....I truly appreciate ALL opinions, so don't be shy!!

Like Eric, I am not interested in someone's Prom Night accounts, unless it's Donald Trump's, Arnold Schwarznegger's or Dominique Strauss-Kahn, or the moderators'. Talk about the dumbing down of American news audience. And then have the gall to feature specials on CNN TV wondering why American kids are so behind in reading, news of the world, and history? Is it because the kids are not interested in reading serious news, even with humorous commentary, because CNN sites like this one post someone's blog about how nice their prom night reported was?

I would like CNN to study the juxtaposition of Republicans and tea party folks complaining about the debt crisis in the U.S. Its funny how they were silent as a mouse for 8 years during the Bush administration, that racked up a 100 billion or more supporting two wars. Or the financial meltdown which started during Bush era, and is still causing much financial stress on the U.S. Each one of these incidents caused our country to go further into debt. The republicans solution is to cut Social Security and Medicare to resolve debt crisis. Again on the backs of the poor and middle class. It makes me sick to think of the future we have left our children.

May 19, 2011

@ Helioxdiver:

The bill for the two wars combined is actally just over 1 TRILLION dollars and their hypocrisy about spending is mind boggling...They want NO blame for their 8 years of destroying our economy, but are running to the front of the line for kudos on getting bin Laden!!

And they have no SOLUTION! They wanted the auto industry to fail, thereby causing the unemployment crisis to worsen, which would guarantee them the White House in 2012...Cutting off this country's nose to spite it's face, in other words!

I'm actually looking to start a discussion on this and the post bin Laden political climate. Please let me know if you're interested in participating.

I'm writing to you on behalf of those 22000 unlucky winners in the DV-2012 program.

I'm sorry about what happen, but there is no excuse of this BIGGEST mistake, many people counted on the hope to get selected but between a night and another, we discovered that you voided the previous results. Most importantly, they had time to check these results! how is it possible that they didn't check!

Rather than dashing the hopes of so many people, those notified should be granted the visas but on a delayed schedule. Just add 10,000 to the number of people allowed in each year over a five year period and take 20% of those mistakenly granted visas in each of those 5 years. It was not our error.

Many of us have taken steps towards processing. For many of the participants in countries with low incomes even these steps are a considerable monetary loss.

As you know any computer program system will deny all previously selected numbers which mean that we will never be selected within the redraw so where is the equal opportunities, where is the justice.

After mentioning all the above, and with no opportunity to win the next draw,

We are looking to immigrate to the USA to live in a free country, feel the freedom, democracy and fairness .What happened was not our fault so we are expecting the right decision from the US government which will retain us our humanity.

And finally, we need your urgent attention and voice on our plight

Please accept our respect,

22000 unlucky winners

In our previous column we reported that the U.S. State Department Bureau of Consular Affairs announced that Electronic Status Checking for DV-2012 applicants was delayed until July 15 due to a progamming error. This error mistakenly notified 20,000 green card lottery applicants that they were winners, when in fact they were not.

Although some of these 20,000 may still win the lottery, they (and all other applicants) must recheck their status on or after July 15, 2011 when the software update is complete and fully tested.

All they need to check their winning status are three pieces of information from their 2010 green card lottery registration: 1) CONFIRMATION NUMBER, 2) FAMILY NAME (Last Name), and 3) BIRTH YEAR.

A confirmation number was provided if you successfully entered last fall. It is a16-character number, similar to this: 2012lO0DZWY1DOV9.

-

But what if you lost your confirmation number?

-

We previously reported (incorrectly) that you can email or call the Kentucky Consular Center (KCC) and ask them to look up your number given the Principal (Primary) Applicant's full name and birth date. However, this is no longer true (or perhaps it was never possible). Regardless, if you lost your number you cannot determine if you won. In this case, you will be unable to check your winning status at the ESC site above.

Therefore you will have to wait until this year's upcoming DV-2013 lottery and reenter if you have any hope of winning. But as the graph shows, more applicants are registering each year which reduces the chances of winning one of the 50,000 available visas.

In the last few days I received dozens of emails from DV-2012 "winners" (including one from a temporary visa holder here in Albuquerque, New Mexico) who discarded their confirmation numbers after they were mistakenly notified that they won. Although they were issued a "case number", these case numbers are now invalid, and cannot be used to check status beginning July 15.  Here is an excerpt from one letter:

To find out the results, each applicant needs a "confirmation number." But when notified, you need a "case number" which they provide.  Therefore, most of us thought that we won't need our confirmation number and threw it away, so if we are lucky and win the second time then we won't be able to see the results.

Bottom line: do not lose your confirmation numbers. (Actually, this may be one reason to use a paid lottery service since they would not misplace your number.)

In response to these and other concerns from "the 22,000" I sent a letter to the Department of State summarizing this and other issues. They are:

1) From a probability perspective, the initial selection was still random. That is, the software could just as well have chosen those who applied on the last three days, or on odd/even numbered days, or on Saturday/Sundays. Or the system could have even selected the very last 100,000 applicants. Hence there is no need to cancel the results.

2) Those who were declared "winners" and successfully submitted their paperwork prior to the announcement should be in a "special category" and kept in the review process for a green card. Then a second batch of winners could be selected beginning July 15.

3) After the results were announced, the Kentucky Consular Center (KCC), responding to e-mails and phone calls, urged the "winners" to send their forms for processing as soon as possible, even though they must have suspected something is wrong with the results.

4) Arguing for financial loss, some "winners" paid attorney fees, turned down job proposals, and paid money to mail application forms to the KCC.

5) Many are arguing for an independent investigation to determine how this occurred.

Besides the lost money, lost confirmation numbers, lost opportunities, and a mathematical argument that the 22,000 "winners" were chosen randomly anyway, there is the basic notion of fairness (espoused by the U.S.) which seems to have been overlooked by voiding the initial lottery results.

What do you think

USA spreading Extremism and Instability in Pakistan.

People of Pakistan  know very well that USA record with reference to use of Nuclear Bomb on Japan to  Vietnam war and victimization of people of Palestine to occupation of Afghanistan and opposition of revolution in Iran to invasion of Iraq on the basis of biased and bogus reasons is by any standard is not praise worthy.

The way USA is extra judicially and mercilessly   murdering religious Muslim community in FATA area of Pakistan, and opposing to librations and freedom movements of Muslim areas of Palestine, Kashmir, Chechen region and support of occupants (India, Israel and Russia) of these areas by military and other means by USA is more than sufficient that USA is in fact not their well wisher and in fact a biased country and victimizer of them.

To spread war, extremism and instability and distress in Muslim World on one side USA is occupying Muslim Holy Shrines and places  like Al-Quds Mosque in East Jeruasalam and Cities of Karbala and Najaf in Iraq, and having very strong grip on Saudi-Kingdom where there are Mecca and Madina two most important religious places for Muslims, and to further keep disturbed and puzzled to Muslims,USA trying to surround Pakistan, the only muslim nation having nuclear capability by collaboration of corrupted rulers of Pakistan.

On one side USA demanding Pakistan military to flow their blood against militants on other side even not ready for provision of night vision goggles and even information about drones attacks.

On one side USA using Data, information, intelligence provided by Pakistan and using inhuman and barbaric tactics to torture arrested militants handed over by Pakistan to USA even by ignoring and violating USA own rules, regulations, ethics  and laws.

On one side searching Pakistani government officials at airports very harshly and in misbehaving way before entering in USA but itself even not providing any information about its CIA agents involved in murdering common people under the disguise of diplomats.

On one side Osama was hiding himself from Pakistan and on other side USA Obama was also involved in hiding Osama from Pakistan, and most probably Reymond Davis was released by paying huge amounts of money, because as an intelligence agent he was having information about hiding place of Osama .Main reason of hiding Osama from Pakistan was to take whole credit of finding Osama by CIA itself, by ignoring all sacrifices of Pakistani nation against war on extremism.

On one side  USA not allowing to examines CIA agents involved in murdering common people by civilian Pakistani judicial courts  under the disguise of diplomats, and on other side allowing its military personnel to award death penalty and to do extra judicial target killings of suspected opponents of USA by use of Drones and excessive military force .

On one side USA blocking aid to Pakistan military units who killed in a YouTube video clip to militants, but on other side itself involved in extra judicially, boastfully and mercilessly murdering unarmed,64 years  old gray haired, immobile kidney and diabetic patient Osama Bin Laden by using excessive military force in the presence of his 5-10 years old  innocent children and housewives in his home in the darkness of night, and raiding like thieves in their home where not a single gun and explosive was present. What was the charge against his innocent children.

Moreover announcement by CIA Director, that they conduct such type of 2-3 operations daily in night in Afghanistan is a clear evidence  that USA is behaving like a fierce beast in this region.

If USA was able to detect Osama by using advanced technology of satellites and by utilizing intelligence data and information provided by Pakistani agencies, then the best possible way was to arrest Osama Bin Laden in peaceful and non violent way by involving Pakistani security agencies and to penalize him through civilized judicial process.

On one side USA start  war against occupation of Arab and Muslim Kuwait by another Arab and Muslim Iraq for its Vested interest but on other side always vetoed resolutions in UN against non Arab and Jewish Israel Occupation of Arab and Muslim Palestine. Why so lower grade double standards.

On one side Americans becoming champions of human rights on other side becoming so mad that celebrating the death of children and women and throwing dead body in the sea like Hollywood barbarians.

USA spreading Extremism and Instability in Pakistan.

On one side Americans becoming champions of human rights on other side becoming so mad that celebrating the death of children and women and throwing dead body in the sea like Hollywood barbarians.

USA is killing the militants extra judicially and violently by using Drones and Choppers  in Pakistan but the consequences and results of such acts are that in protest relatives of murdered people by ignoring all teachings and guidelines of Islam and ethics are making suicidal attacks  in mosques ,bazaars, shrines and Police stations and killing innocent people  who have nothing to do with the crimes of USA and Pakistani corrupt rulers, and threatening to kill every one who supports USA, ultimately further destabilizing and deteriorating the region and Pakistan, By using this policy USA making Pakistan a scapegoat and unstable state and  spreading war and anarchy in Pakistan to make itself safe and secure, This is extreme selfishness and in fact cowardness.

USA should help in solving the problem of Kashmir and Palestine to divert Muslims youth towards constructive activities and not to divert and throw them towards extremism, wars and conflicts by keeping these small lands occupied by India and Israel, Otherwise there will be no end of  this nuisance  of enmity and hatred among nations.

Anyone interested in talking about China's problems in its society?

China is indeed developing at an impressive pace. I think these days most Chinese are blinded by the economic growth. Though I myself am a Christian in China which is not that common, China now is increasingly known as a country without religion. Most Chinese now worship one thing and one thing only--MONEY! This has led to what I called moral degradation in the society. People would do anything for money which is really sad.

And Beijing puts economic growth top of the aganda. No one seems to care the growth of the human soul any more.

Any one who has thoughts on this please share.

Suggested approach to solve the error made by the Department of State in the original drawing - without creating any broken commitments or requiring any additional visa provision

•     Honor the commitment made on May 13 to all who entered the Lottery to hold a fair and randomized drawing by re-running the selection event on July 15 as planned.  Use this to create a pool of individuals able to apply for the available Diversity Visa allocation (this pool could be between 78,000 to 100,000 individuals)

•     Honor the commitment, made in writing through an official U.S. Government communication, to all those who were selected for further processing as part of the original draw in May 2011.  It is appropriate that only those who actually accessed their ‘winner’ notification should be included in this group, as only these individuals were truly communicated with.   It is understood that this would make an additional 22,000 individuals eligible to apply for allocation of visas

•     Make no change to the congressionally mandated pool of 55,000 visas that are available for the DV2012 Lottery

•     Accept no documentation from any selectee until August 1, 2011 ensuring a level playing field for all concerned

DV LOTTERY 2012 VOIDED

Credibility of federal institutions, the banal story of a dream and a great disappointment

I am one of those selected for the U.S. DV Lottery 2012, one of 22,000 ’’winners’’ one that has received an official statement by the US Department of State (Bureau of Consular affair, Electronic Diversity Visa) one who, in good faith, believed that the official notification and that it has followed the instructions provided, we will send the necessary documentation for the next steps to obtain the Green Card.

The hope is realized, the dream is getting ready to become reality but...... but two weeks later, surprise, the lottery is canceled for a supposed technical error: sorry we joked with you, with your hopes and your dreams and..... official communications of a federal institution that you have......are only waste paper with no value.

Many will say the DV lottery does not guarantee the Green Card: It is true the DV lottery does not guarantee Green Card, but guarantee the opportunity to obtain it, guarantee one dream and it is this possibility, this dream that has been removed.

But the biggest disappointment comes from the loss of confidence in U.S. institutions. Until a few days ago I (and I think the other 22,000)  could have sworn that a thing could happen in all states of the world but not in the United States of America.

At this point I would like to ask a question to U.S. citizens: We lost a dream ...... you and the United States of America what you have lost?

With respect and consideration, God bless America.

  Guten tag...

My best friend is a cancer survivor and RN specializing in hospice care. She is also trying to begin a new life apart from an abusive relationship, and has been disowned by her entire family because she desires to live. Her children want her to die because she no longer conforms to their demands (they are all adult men).

I have been threatened because I didn't want her to experience more sexual, psychological or emotional damage. Her estranged husband is a stalker, and is highly regarded in his community circle.

I submit... At what point should I actively/legally defend her life?

Hi CNN,

I'm sure you covered the collapse of the negligently built schools in China which killed hundreds if

not thousandsof children after an earthquake last year.

I hope you will also cover the negligently built public buildings which flew to pieces in Joplin from tornados.

I hope you will also cover the stories of all of the innocent little children who died in Joplin because the adult population failed to create and enforce a proper building code to prevent destruction due to weather conditions.

Finally I hope you will encourage American entrepreneurs

to find a way to dig and lay cement foundations for less than $30,000, leaving no argument for not building back better.

Sydney, Australia is fast becoming a city where only the rich can survive. Gas prices have flowed over the AU$1.5 mark and the electricity prices are soon to double.  Yet Australia has not turned to nuclear energy which is the inevitable solution to its energy costs.

The main reason for this is the scare of accidents such as those in Japan recently, or Chernobyl and Five Mile Island in the past. Add to this the potential of producing weapons grade plutonium in a conventional uranium fuelled reactor.

Nuclear energy can also be produced using a safer Liquid Flouride Thorium Reactor (LFTR) which does not have the potential to produce an amount of plutonium capable of making any weapon of mass destruction and - it can be turned off at a flick of a switch.  It does not require a large containment structure or building and can be built in small units to power suburbs or a group of suburbs individually.

In addition, spent nuclear fuel from present reactors can be destroyed in a LFTR cycle doing away with the necessity to bury it in some piece of real estate for the next 10,000 years.

What is more significant, Australia has the largest reserves of Thorium in the world. Enough to power the world for a thousand years at costs as low as 5 cents per Kwh! To produce 1 GwH of electricity you need to mine 800,000 MT of earth to get enough uranium as compared to 250 MT of earth to get a ton of thorium.  Almost all of thorium is utilised during the process compared to only 0.7% of uranium.

The research is out there, just why is nobody reading?

I have been lately in Syria and I would love to share my stories about the terror and crimes of the Syrian regime against its own men, women, and children--crimes that include killing civilians, shelling whole towns for days, cutting off power, water and food, literally occupying hospitals and preventing casulties from treatment, torturing prisoners, etc. I believe that the American media, especially the CNN, should take a tougher stance against the Syrian regime and expose their brutal conduct to the world.

It is a scientific fact that the volcanic eruptions in Iceland and Chile, since the first spewing of volcanic ash had, has negated every effort made in the previous five years, to control CO2 emissions on our planet. Somewhere in the world, a volcanic eruption is building up and maybe taking place – right now!

Politicians discuss ways and means to suppress carbon dioxide - that vital chemical compound that every plant requires to live and grow, and to synthesize into oxygen for us humans, and all animal life.

We have been doing our bit to reduce carbon emission by driving hybrid cars, fabric grocery bags, properly disposing of rubbish and other measures such as replacing our  cheaper light bulbs for more expensive energy efficient gas tubes. However, all of this  is being undone by constant volcanic eruptions.

In Iceland, for instance, the volcanic ash emitted into the Earth's atmosphere in four days totally erased every single effort we had made to reduce carbon.  There are around 200 active volcanoes on the planet spewing out lava and destroying our efforts.

When Mt Pinatubo erupted in the Philippines in 1991, it spewed out more greenhouse gases into the atmosphere than the entire human race had emitted in its entire years on earth.  Mt Pinatubo was active for over a year.

In addition, it is worth mentioning the effect of solar and cosmic activity and the well-recognized 800-year global heating and cooling cycle, which keeps happening, despite our completely insignificant efforts to affect climate change.

Bush fires also help negate our efforts to reduce carbon with western USA and Australia suffering every year with devastating effects.

It is interesting to note that we do not call this “Global Warming” any more, just “Climate Change”.  This is because the planet has actually cooled by 0.7 degrees in the past century and the term “Global Warming” is no longer valid.  These are based on scientific facts.

Have we given any credence to these facts when imposing a carbon tax in Australia and blaming this on our way of life?  These taxes will not stop volcanoes from erupting, or stop bush fires. All it will do is add to government coffers and generate more hardships for struggling families.
