Your collective letter to the president

CNN's Wolf Blitzer sat down with President Barack Obama for a one-on-one interview today, giving us all a bit of greater insight into the presidential mindset as the 2012 election season heats up.

We asked iReporters to share what they would have liked to ask the president, and we got a huge response. We received 45 submissions, most of them videos, on a pretty tight deadline. But the way things worked out, the 11th hour arrived and we weren't able to get the questions in front of the president himself.

This news was discouraging, but we found that we were still fascinated by the huge response and the depth of thinking in each question. So we decided to comb through the videos and see what thematic threads emerged.

After we finished doing that, we picked a short list of questions that represented the group and sent them to the White House to try and get some answers.

We discovered that the questions you asked seem to form a composite letter to the president. Some topics kept popping up, and that gave us an idea of the kinds of things people are concerned about:

Jobs and economy

We noticed that several submitters wanted to know what could be done to help the economy. People are still worried about their financial futures, and about jobs. In one poignant question, Steve Gordon of St. Petersburg, Florida, wondered, "What will you do to bring call center jobs back to America?" Jay O'Conner of New York asked if there was a way to increase jobs and help Africa at the same time.

On a broader level, we heard quite a bit about fiscal policy. Shawn Louise Blumenfeld of Mt. Vernon, Washington, posed a question about getting assistance for those who are behind on their mortgage payments.

Political posturing

Many submitters discussed civility in politics and the role of parties. Some iReporters questioned whether Obama should try to keep the peace. Frederic Lumiere of Doylestown, Pennsylvania, called the president a "polarizing figure," and wondered if he would consider not running. On the other hand, some thought Obama wasn't rocking the boat enough with the Republicans. "They won't cooperate anyway, so why are you so nice to them?" asked Terry Campbell of San Francisco, California.

Energy and beyond

We also got a lot of questions about specific policy areas. Among these, fuel and energy were prominent themes. Marie Cox of North Canton, Ohio, asked why we aren't exploring alternative energy sources, while Brett Bayne of West Hollywood, California, asked about alternative fuels. Interestingly, both submitters argued that new jobs could be created in the process.

Our legacy

Finally, some wondered what people will think about us in the future. "What will history say about this generation?" Tommy Taylor of Round Rock, Texas, asked.

Now we're putting the spotlight back on you. Take a look at these questions we've just mentioned and let us know what you think in the comments area below. If you were going to write a letter to the president, what would you put in it? Tell us what you would ask, and what answers you would like to see.

Ask all the silly questions you want. Anything that Obama tries to implement, whether its alternative energy or a jobs program will be labeled "socialist" by the terrorist party and DOA in congress.

Michelle Bachmann on meet the press she just lie, lie, lie as a INDEPENDENT voter, we are the people who see the truth, that the Republicans are not willing to bargin or raise taxes on Million Airs and Billion Airs to get the economy working. Getting 98% of what they wanted, and have not created any JOBS! yet, But what the Republicans-Tea Party have caused S&P to down grade our country credit for the frist time in our nations history. Independents who are self-reliance not committed to a political party will take the stand again, Since the 1st day in office the Republicans main goal was to get Obama out of office instead of giving a hand with the wrost economy our country has ever seen. The Party of no, did 1 thing right to show the American people their willing to strip us of everything we have worked for. INDEPENDENT 4 Life

I have a simple idea.  Most companies have a pay for performance structure.  Executives are paid based on company performance.  Congress needs the same incentive.....their compensation should be based on our country's performance

After 8 years under Bush, the republican shouldn't get the presidency back for at least a 100 years. But what do the people do? they vote all the republican shitbags back in during the midterm elections...This country and its moronic people deserve what they get.

The Republicans were in control from 2000-2006 before the Democrats took over congress in 2007. In 2006, the final year under a Republican President and a Republican Congress, the unemployment rate was 4.6%. Today, under Obama and a Democrat congress, the unemployment rate is 9.1% (according to the Federal Government - but 10.2% according to Gallup). Under Obama and the Democrats, poverty has reached its highest level since 1959. The numbers don't lie. The failed economic policies of Democrats have been destroying lives, wrecking our economy and shattering the American dream since the Democrats took over congress in 2007. The before and after statistics prove it.

A brief history lesson:

1977: Jimmy Carter (D) signs the Community Reinvestment Act, guaranteeing home loans to low-income families.

1999: Bill Clinton (D) puts the CRA on steroids by pushing Fannie Mae & Freddie Mac (F&F) to increase the number of sub-prime loans (owning a home is now a 'right'.).

1999 (September): New York Times publishes an article, 'Fannie Mae Eases Credit To Aid Mortgage Lending', which warned of the coming crisis due to lax lending policies of the Clinton (D) administration.

2003: White House calls Fannie and Freddie a "systemic risk". The Bush (R) administration pushes Congress to enact new regulations.

2003: Barney Frank (D) says F&F are "not in a crisis" and bashes Republicans for crying wolf and calls F&F "Financially Sound" Democrats block Republican sponsored regulation legislation.

2005: Fed Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan voices warning over F&F accounting "We are placing the total financial system of the future at a substantial risk"

2005: Sen Charles Schumer (D) says "I think F & F over the years have done an incredibly good job and are an intrinsic part of making America the best-housed people in the world.".

2006 Sen. John McCain (R) again calls for reform of the regulatory structure that governs F&F.

2006: Democrats again block reform legislation.

2008: Housing market collapses: Democrats blame the Republicans.

Obviously the Republicans aren't free of guilt concerning the cause of this crisis because they didn't try hard enough to prevent it and in some cases allowed it to happen (one of the reasons conservatives and independents disliked Bush by the way and one of the reasons that many of those votes went to Obama as a 'protest' against Bush's liberal tendencies). But as can plainly be seen the Democrats hold the lion's share of blame for the economic melt down we're currently enjoying.

How can it be the 'fault' of the Republicans when the democrats are the ones that caused the current recession/depression and have been in complete control of the purse strings of the country from 2007 - 2011? Only in the mind of the socialist propaganda machine can it be 'Bush's fault' when 90% of the blame rests squarely on the shoulders of the democrat party.

wives and they used common sense.  I paid taxes on my Social Security, taken out of every pay check for 40years now you keep taking out more.  What kind of government do we have in Washington...A bunch of rich people that keep taking advantage of the American People.

As long as everyone keeps arguing the faults of one political party over another, nothing good will ever get done. Congress spends all of its time and our money playing this very same game, with their highest priority being the next election campaign to keep their cushy jobs. If we don't change our arguments, don't expect them to change theirs.

Freedom88:

"The Republicans were in control from 2000-2006 before the Democrats took over congress in 2007. In 2006, the final year under a Republican President and a Republican Congress, the unemployment rate was 4.6%"

Guess what? 2001 - 2006 is exactly the period of time when all the spending took place and the debt accumulated. The debt, btw, that we STILL have to pay for right now. The Republicans who controlled both Houses did a good job hiding the dire consequences of their actions until the Democrats took control and brought it out in the open. That's why you saw the downturn in the economy and employment after 2007 -- because it was suddenly evident the debt the country had incurred thanks to the unpaid for spending that took place the prior 6 years.

Do you seriously expect people to believe the Democrats caused the recession that started in 2007 after only taking over in that same year? The only ones who can possibly believe that are those who were born in 2008 or those who are blinded by uncontrollable bias.

It seems everyone likes the blame game.  No party is perfect or better both parties have created, allowed, set up the political landscape we have today.  In a changing world the great ideas in technology that have been implemented did not leave room for what people will do once their jobs were replaced or went overseas.  No forward thinking on replacing, retraining people for this modern world so millions of people are idle, no jobs no income no life.  Instead of complaining people should contribute ideas about creating jobs and how those who don't have much can help others in the same boat.  The more I read about Washington the more disappointed and discouraged I am. 2012 is shaping up to doom and gloom and our politicians are leading the way.

Our country needs stimulus for jobs creation on the order of Roosevelt's New Deal. First, give the country a history lesson about President Hoover's 'austerity' measures that resulted in Hoovervilles and the Great Depression. We're headed that way now if we don't understand basic economics of stimulating the economy during recessions instead of never-ending cuts that will cripple our economy. In 1933, Pres. Roosevelt took the reigns big-time and spent huge deficits to get the economy rolling again. His great STIMULUS plan put thousands to work on infrastructure and public works around the country and employed thousands! Every city in this nation needs fixing. Each County and State could create digital, color-coded maps of areas of need by priority. Professional City Planners, architects, landscape architects, designers, artists, etc. would be the core group to develop plans. All citizens could participate in identifying areas of need and become a big part of the solution. Cities could compete for dollars and win prizes and recognition for the best plans and implementation of those plans. People from all affiliations, all walks of life could participate via internet, community meetings, letters, etc. to their local politicians that will report directly with maps in hand to Congress. Each submission will have to show visuals of development phases, number of jobs created and monetary benefit to local regions and the nation at large. Finally, no finger pointing or bickering would be allowed, only solutions. Ideas and submissions would be live-streamed via internet and T.V. to get excitement going and even more ideas. Yes, I do believe we can, but only if we do it differently, more courageosly and and creatively than ever before. We have the minds and hearts available by the millions. An entirely new paradigm will be created, one that includes all voices and works in harmonious ways to create a better world for all people regardless of race, color, creed, financial status, stripes, spots or? Let's get out of this tiny box we're all in and pull together in unity of heart, mind and spirit.

I would ask President Obama how cutting the payroll tax and paying for new infastructure would get the US out of debt. Or in other words.. how would he create jobs without the Government borrowing money. ( I bet he would say something to the tune of, it's not possible, you have to go in debt to get out of debt. But he may prove me wrong, I would hope.)

Freedom88, are the Democrats responsible for "predatory lending" and the abuse of credit default swaps by the major investment banks?  They have a lot larger role than F & F and the Dems for the financial crisis.  I don't have any more patience for "historians" like you who revise history to support your premise that Democrats have primary responsibility for the financial crisis.

Our country is broke, but how did we get here?  Social security, medicare and Obama care are not in the red yet, so let's agree some reforms must be made eventually.  What is creating debt right now is defined benefit pensions for government workers that the taxpayer has to subsidize.  State and municipal pension funds are underfunded by $3.3 Trillion Dollars!  I don't know about federal pension funds, but isn't it time to got to a 401 K retirement program like workers live by in the private sector?  Really, the only people I see retiring around me are government workers and many in their early 50's.  That means pension benefits are collected for 30+ years which amount to some $2 Million Dollars or more for many retirees, who may have only contributed some $100,000 toward their retirement.  That's a budget buster!  Is it any wonder we are broke?  My wife has worked for Intel for 26 years and contributed the max every year (10% I believe)and Intel has contributed as well.  Her 401K has about $350,000 in it.  That's maybe 10 years of retirement for a real world employee.  How on earth do we justify the difference for government employees?  Note:  Intel is not a chopped liver company!

America needs to have this dialogue, do we have the guts to deal with real life issues like this?

I think it is really sad what short memories our citizens have.   O'bama did not cause this mess- he inherited it.  He has done an incredible job of holding the country together. Where do they think they would be had the stimulus not restored the flow of money for the banks. Lack of regulation and corruption of big US banks caused this "Great Recession" that has affected the entire world.

Taxes are what supports our public education. Taxes support Medicare, Social Security, keeps our roads drivable. Taxes pay for defense, homeland security. These are things run by the govenment. Do we really not want to have these things? These things have made our country great - but they have been plagued with fraud and abuse. That is what our elected officials should be focused on.  Fairness means regulation, to protect us from those who will hurt us.

Our health care system is great because of our government. Tax dollars support pharmaceutical research. Do people think that if United Healthcare, Blue Cross, or Cigna etc. ran the healthcare system that your drugs would be subsidised. Without medicare we would not have the evidence based practice (regulations) that guides your doctor to prescribe the antihypertesnive medicines that protect you from having strokes and heartattacks. .  even when you continue to smoke, and over eat.

Here is a solution - We need legislation that limits terms of  service for Congress and  Senators and yes even the honorable, Supreme Court Justices.  They should not be entitled to a life time health insurance and retirement on our tax dollars when they are more concerned about the politics of re-election  rather than the responsibility of running  this country. Maybe that will restore their perspective and priority of those whom they serve.

History has shown that religion cannot dominate politics. The founding fathers knew that when they wrote the constitution. We have been a blessed nation. As we fail focus our priority we give way to corruption and undergound economies - for example- the drug wars in Mexico is due to American consumption. Illegal immigration is because America uses illegal workers. The problems lie within us.

As the new election comes - listen.  Too many list the problems and blame President Obama, but few say how they would change it. They say they won't raise taxes. . . so what would they cnage. . . NO ONE has a plan. They say they would create jobs. . . How many and how?

Look who the real obstructionist are . .  ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS FOLLOW THE MONEY of whose interests are being served.  Businesses or the people..

First off to LOLZCAT...Your name is LOLZcat. Just go somewhere its embarrassing. And Freedom I could rip your weak points apart but you have already chosen a side which means no rational intelligence present.

The three Republican candidates make George Bush look like Abe Lincoln. I cant believe I live in this country. Where there may indeed be enough fools to elect one of the three Republicans President. And I'm not a Democrat either the whole idea of parties is insulting to common sense. I swear we could get people to believe that 2 plus 2 equals 5 if we just blamed it on the gays.

When did this happen. Was it the welfare cheese that Reagan gave out that caused this many Americans to become dumbies. Weren't we doing pretty good under Clinton? He did some wicked things but the country was strong and liked over the world. Where are common sense solutions and how do we get rid of about half the people on this board.

Make no mistake, the state of the nation rests on the unwillingness of the Republicans to compromise.   Their greed has surpassed their compassion for their fellow Americans.  They would rather rape other countries of their cheap labor and resources, pollute at will and not maintain safety in the work place or for the citizens of those countries than create jobs with the hoards of taxpayer’s cash they now control.  They are protected by the taxpayer United States Military while in those countries.  Our boys die fighting for their freedom because they can’t find jobs at home.

These Republicans then cry about tax cuts being reinstated. Meanwhile their companies send inferior products infested with bed bugs, tainted foods, unsafe children's items to their big box stores, which were given to them at taxpayer expense.  Those same taxpayers find themselves having to spend their retirement savings in order to survive.  Some have lost their homes and any sense of security they may have had.  This happened due to America coddling the wealthy.   Republicans make plans to leave the USA to avoid tax on the money that America helped them make.

It is time to put a stop to the madness,  It is time to get organized.  VOTE out the Republicans.  All of them.

The Financial Reform Bill is a joke and does nothing to clean up Wall Street and the Banking system.  Until meaningful reform (Not BS) is passed AND enforced, this country doesn't have a snowball's chance of making it and the massive thievery and fraud will continue until there's nothing left.  The notional value of fraudulent derivatives is $1.14 QUADrillion (and growing).

BTW - China and even Vietnam FORBID derivatives, unless there is tangible value, transparency and a legitamite clearinghouse for handling/settling transactions.  They won't tolerate fraud and they also enforce laws and punish financial criminals.

Also, the Obama Care Bill is a total disaster and must be repealed.  It is unconstitutional and a JOB KILLER!  It is also a secret and additional form of taxation (without representation) to get more $$ from taxpayers to shore up the depleted (BROKE) Social Security fund.

BTW - Social Security is definitely a Ponzi Scheme.  There are currently 4-5 people paying in, for each person collecting.  SS has also been treated (by Govt) like a "slush fund" and they have stolen massive amounts of money from it over the past 20 years.  Over $2.5 TRILLION (that Congress will admit to) is owed to SS via speacially issued US Treasuries and now... Congress wants to DEFAULT on those Treasuries.  If anyone is STUPID enough to believe that there is a "big pot of SS money that is collecting interest"... Then, there's some swamp land in Florida that I'd like to sell to you!

Next... KILL NAFTA.  Ross Perot was 100% CORRECT when he mentioned "the great sucking sound of jobs leaving the US" due to NAFTA.  NO ONE LISTENED.  Now, much of our manufacturing is GONE.

KILL the insider-trading legislation that Congress quietly passed that enables them to commit insider trading & avoid prosecution (with inside/advanced information on Govt contracts).  THIS is actually WHY we are involved in multiple, unjustified, endless, no-win wars.  This level of perversion has caused the Military Defense Complex to become one of the LARGEST industries in the USA!!  And... it is bankrupting our country and making politicians very rich.  That is SICK.

As Richard Maybury once said... "If the economy is about people... Then, How can KILLING PEOPLE be good for the economy?"

REMEMBER... it is YOUR families and friends that DIE in these stupid and unjustified wars.  In the meantime, politicians and their families and friends enjoy the high life, good health and become wealthy.

The new Financial Epicenter in the US is now:

1. Government

2. Banking/Finance

3. Insurance

4. Military/Defense (killing industry)

NONE of them produce anything that people want to buy.

TRUE WEALTH is created by making things that others WANT to Buy.  The following Industries are critical and needed in the US for creating TRUE WEALTH:

1. Manufacturing

2. Construction

3. Mining

4. Agriculture

(these in turn support other PRODUCTIVE INDUSTRIES).

Government is guilty of over-taxing and over-regulating PRODUCTIVE INDUSTRIES.  They are guilty of driving these industries OUT of the US.

Government is guilty of deregulating the banking and financial industry.  Once they did this, the thieves and sociopaths came out to play.  Many Govt and Private pensions funds and 401K's were looted by Wall Street. Please NOTE: No one went to jail for committing fraud and our economy & currency have now been DESTROYED.

Government now wants the common man (YOU) to pay for reparations regarding this ongoing nonsense!

George Bush Jr. should be in prison for his criminal behavior/collusion over the 8 years that he was supposed to be serving our country.  His getaway plan?... a 100,000 acre parcel of land in Paraguay.  That traitor!

Barak Obama is a puppet of the elite.  However, he is also corrupt and most of all, INCOMPETENT in his own way.  He has proven that he truly does NOT understand basic economics at all and, he has also helped to facilitate the ongoing fraud in the banking and financial sector - be it deliberately or, by accident.  His policies of profligate spending and showering non-productive industries (i.e. Wall Street) with your tax dollars is rediculous, insane and criminal.  Most of all, it only made those criminals richer and caused our country's credit rating to disintegrate.

Obama also had NO BUDGET PLAN and wasted 10 MONTHS!  Both he and the Republicans still have NOTHING in writing and that is a testimony to the ineffectiveness, corruption and grid-lock in his administration, and, in Washington DC in general.

It's every man for himself now.

I SEE this every day, whereby more and more local business are now dealing in CASH and offering special deals to "those that pay in CASH".

I DON'T BLAME THEM AT ALL - THEY ARE IN SURVIVAL MODE AND ARE TRYING TO KEEP PEOPLE EMPLOYED.

In the meantime, the country BURNS as Govt INDECISION CONTINUES - creating endless UNCERTAINTY (another JOB KILLER).

No one should be allowed to buy their way into Washington.  I know, how about a reality show.  This way we can weed out the selfish incompetents and vote for people who truly care about our Country.

To all of you who are crying for more stimulus money.....we've already had trillions of dollars in stimulus money with the promise from Pbo that it would create shovel ready jobs.  Where are the jobs and why do you think borrowing even more money would create jobs now when it didn't before?

The government does not have any money that it does not take from YOU and ME.

I had always been a patriotic American, blind to the corruption going on within its government. Then my employer transferred me to the UK for what was supposed to be a 6 month stint. Those 6 months have so far turned into 7 years. There is no doubt the UK government has its own corruption, but... I’ll tell you why I stayed. Universal healthcare for one. Someone mentioned that the healthcare in the U.S. is good? Compared to the healthcare here, it’s appalling. No one gets turned away here, everyone is treated, for free and at minimal cost to tax payers. Obama tried to introduce a universal healthcare plan and the majority of Americans rejected it. How utterly moronic. Secondly, employees here have several laws which protect them and their positions. Companies did everything in their power to keep employees. Senior management volunteered to take pay cuts to save people. Unfortunately, some people lost their jobs but they were well compensated. I’ve felt the crunch, but what I’ve done differently is not rely on credit to pull me out of it. I’ve learned how to budget as has the rest of the UK. Have Americans learned to? No. They’re still spending like the economy is in the black. Living here has made me realize just how thick most Americans are, how they love to blame the government, the state, the individual, their dogs for problems they have created themselves. It’s not a republican/democrat issue. Everyone is to blame! So until American grows the f*** up I’m staying put here.

I can't believe the lack of class with the profanity from some contributors.  And the funny thing is, they are the Libs/Dems/Progs that are the ones talking like that.  You can't make any points that support BHO, because there aren't any, so you just call names and swear.

The Super Congress idea won't work.  Instead, enlist a conference of 1000+ academic economic professionals to define an exact plan.  Then hand Congress the plan for unquestioned passsage.  Bottom line: Congress is good for one thing: "Pushing paper."

I am still proud to be an American and I still pity anyone who has the " GUTS " to run for and hold the office of the Presidency of the United States of America !!!

Took me a while to realize that when I point my finger at someone else, I have THREE pointing right back at me. Bring on the reduced entitlements Mr. President, I'll gladly sacrifice a portion of my Military and Social Security retirements checks to help my country.

I am voting for Obama. Obama walked into the biggest mess in history George W. Bush. I rest my case. If you want the TEA PARTY to run you country go ahead and vote Republican.

The real problem is Republican Tea Party Congress. We don't have jobs because they are being held up by the Republican Congress TEA PARTY. You must know they hate Obama and made the statement on open television we are going to make Obama a one time President. We are not going to work with him on anything unless it is all our way. What would you do let the country go to hell I don't think so. You better wake up and listen for if you vote Republican you are a fool.  Take a moment and ask Wisconsin and Flordia and take their advise. They have first hand on what a Republican Governor will do to you.

While I know I can ask questions and request changes, ultimately I know that you, Mr. President, CANNOT do any of this alone. I do understand the process of the government bodies. If all the Reps in Washington were to act civilized & had common sense, more would be done to better this Country. Unfortunately you are faced with many who oppose you and wish to see you fail. That's political agenda, servicing a few, and not helping Main Stream Americans. But, just for the record: I would love if Congress eliminated all loopholes and tax cuts for large corporations & wealthy. I'm on the lower end of the pay scale and do not mind paying taxes as they are needed to keep this Country going. I only make enough money to pay for ABSOLUTE ESSENTIALS, so I am not able to help jump-start the economy by purchasing 'other' goods. Any American owned business that has taken their bases overseas for production/services should be taxed at an extremely high rate. If they have to pay 80-90 percent in taxes on  their products used here, they would gladly return and pay 35 percent, thus opening up more jobs for Americans. This Country lost so many jobs as a result of these companies leaving. Banks/financial institutions SHOULD BE REGULATED. Look were deregulation got us...taxpayers bailing out these idiots. More and more small businesses are closing their doors as they have been pushed aside by politicians in favor of large companies. This needs to end. There needs to be tighter regulation and a watch dog committee for Welfare and SS disability recipients. Too many are getting these benefits that are not qualified. There's so much more, but I know you have been given more trouble to resolve than is fair; and people voted into seats in Washington who have no clue & do not wish to help America move forward.

Its funny that that half the posts are irrelevant and idiotic comments. "republicans are stupid" HA! goes to show how liberal pricks really have nothing important to say. They're the ones who failed half their classes in college and are working low pay jobs. they're so stupid that they support Obama. And I'm the one busting my ass to pay for your unemployment benefits. Tell me why Osama.. I mean Obama has yet to fufil any of his campaign promises. He's more interested in starting his re-election campaign than on fixing the economy. Have you noticed that all he does is blame other people/entities/parties for his mistakes? He's a socialist. He wants to take money from hard working rich people and give it to lazy incompetent poor people. He wants to expand the government. He can't even give a speech with out reading a telepromt... He's a failure.

@southronnie.. notice how their comment had no real context. the tea party wants obama to be a one time president because they see the damage he is causing this country. yeah he inherited a bad economy from bush, but his policies have been nothing but failure after failure. Tell me why we're sending aid to pakistan. Tell me why we're still subsidizing ethanol. tell me why we're ruining everyones healthcare to accomodate the 30 million people who cant afford it (90% of those 30 million probably smoke weed and feed off unemployment benefits. WHY DO WE EVEN HAVE WELFARE?!?! If you we're a lazy ass in school you probably dont make that much money. So why should i have to pay for your foodstamps? why should i pay for your mistakes. America gives everyone the chance to succeed. Get straight A's in college and you're set. Do good in highschool if you're poor and scholarships will fund your future studies. Why should people that work hard everyday have to provide for the poor. The poor put themselves in that situation. When i worked in kroger as a checker when i was in highschool, fatass women with their nails and hair all done up would come and buy shit with their foodstamps. Tell me when your hair is a necessity over food. If you cant get off your fat ass and get a job, and prioritize your money then i hope you starve because if i could i would never help you.VENTING

Obama wants to build jobs. He cut the military budget. The military is now forcing thousands of us in uniform out. So our military men and women are without a job- without housing, and an ended career. Way to bring the unemployment down. Oh and not to mention the change they are proposing to military retirement- instead of the policy changing and grandfather the people who spent over a decade and a half of putting the military first- they want to invest our retirement into a 401k program. That means I have to invest money- its obvious how that ends up. Look at the market. It seems the Gov't is using the military to save their pay checks with cut backs, and stimulate the economy with our retirement pay. How many retired military personnel make it to the age of 65 ?
