The latest and greatest on CNN iReport, brought to you by Team iReport.
Welcome to the new iReport! We are rolling out a lot of big changes today, so you probably have a lot of questions.
Members of Team iReport will be on hand starting at 12 p.m. ET to answer your questions and address any concerns you may have about our new design. If you notice anything that's not working right or have suggestions please let us know. We'll also walk through some of our exciting new features.
Comments will open at 12 p.m. and we're looking forward to talking with you.
P.S. We'll have another roundtable at 6 p.m. if you have questions this afternoon.
Hello, all! It's exciting to see everyone exploring the new site.
Hello everyone.
Hi everyone and welcome. We are very excited to share the new iReport with all of you.
If you have questions comment or concerns feel free to share them here in the comments.
Hope everyone is enjoying looking at the new site!
Hi everyone! Looking forward to chatting with y'all.
Hello Hello. Its like Christmas today on CNN iReport :)
Everyone has such snazzy new profile pics!
Hi respier. Thanks for all of your feedback earlier. I have passed them on to our developer team.
Greetings, all! Wow everything got BIG ... I can almost read without my glasses ... ;)
Hi David and co. Thanks for holding this feedback session.
I haven't navigated around much but my most glaring problem is that I noticed some of the archived ireports don't include the photo. I noticed this when someone commented today on an ireport of mine from last year. Instead of the photo, it shows a gray screen with "cnn ireport" written across it.
Is there any way you can restore the original photos?
You've probably noticed that the images and videos look even more gorgeous on the site, but there's one other thing I wanted to make sure you heard about.
Our developers built a brand new uploader that's much faster and more reliable than the old one. I think you're going to enjoy it as you start posting stories.
Hi! Love the new site. You weren't kidding. Photos nice and large, clean, clear, crisp. One question, our other titles are listed to the left without photos. Sometimes I think folks click on mostly because of an unusual or sensational photo. I'll have to make my titles a lot better now?:) or will you be including small photos down the road? Or what is your words of wisdom to us?Congrats y'all. Really, really nice.
Yea, I changed my Profile picture in honor of the new format lol. (Photo by Barbara Russell, by the way lol.)
What is the recommened resolution for videos and photos?
And is it still 600mb max upload per iReport?
Hi rosehips,
I was not aware of that issue, I'll make sure our developers know about it.
And hello fellow ireporters!
I agree with ecotraveler. I would like to see the little pics along with the titles of the most recent ireports.
Thanks David...
@mpgomatic know what you mean! I placed my browser on 75% view to see more on the scren. :)
Yea, DavidW...thank you! for listening. Who wouldnt love such a surprise in the morning lol.
Hey y'all! Looks beautiful. I just need to learn to navigate.
Welcome everyone!
@ChrisMorrow - I wonder if it will penalize those folks that are still running low-resolution screens?
Hi everyone! Nice to see you all.
All I can say is BEAUTIFUL EFFECTIVE "WELL LAID OUT"
iReport Army in the house! Big day!
@mpgomatic I wonder if it is using flash?
@ rosehips/ecotraveler Are you talking about the latest iReports on the left side of the screen?
I'm not 100% sure I know what you're talking about.
The overlarge type and especially images that blow out the screen, in uploading, I've noticed formatting is out. We now have to go back and edit to provide any formatting such as bold for some lines.
The mega-sizing is making me dizzy.
Hi everyone! Welcome to the new site, and keep the feedback coming.
I noticed there isn't a LIKE (facebook) button on the profile. Will that come back?
I don't really understand how this is a roundtable discussion.. am I missing something?
Woohoo! Hello @standupkid!
Y'all: meet Mark Joyella, digital guy for the new OutFront show on CNN TV. He's a good man to know. :)
Ah! I didnt forget one thing in my Comments to you, DavidW. Iv been working with Zach to put a Table of Contents on my iReport portal, so that visitors can choose which theme they want to look at at any time.
Do you think thatll be possible or is there a technical reason why it would not be.
the images look wonderful. A great improvement to ireport!
Hello.
Suppose I want to view my fellow iReporter's old ireport which has been vetted (not the recent ones) but an older one, I cant seem to get it... as only the most recent ones are to be seen????
You stated that uploading was faster...for me it is taking more time...strange.
We're still making tweaks to the site. There are always things that look fine when you're testing it, but are a little strange when you release it in the real world.
We'll work on the blog text.
Howdy Mark Joyella! What is your show about?
David, yes. If you go to one of my ireports you will see my latest on the left side. It shows only the titles where before there was a small image of the ireport. Really a minor thing but if the pics can be restored, it would be preferable.
Was the new system created because of the 50 photojournalists laid off? You are using us to replace their value... right? I have to mention I am very SAD if the layoff is correct.
Hello everyone
Wow!!! I´m enjoying the new site!!!
Congratulations for the new IReport!!!
@sunethra Yup, we're working on a quick fix for that; it should be out sometime today or tomorrow. We're adding a "see more" button to the page so you can see all of a user's iReports. :)
Hey, everyone..nice and big, but will anyone that's not a iReporter have to log in to see the reports? And how will they find them when there's no heading that allows them to see the latest reports unless they're lgged in
Hello all
@ChrisMorrow - We do still have a Facebook button. It says "Recommend," which is the same button language on most sites. And, the file upload limit is still 600MB.
@SarahBethB - I was bummed to hear about the layoffs. My daughter is a photo major. :(
OH! then that is okay, thanks Rachel.
I have no education past High School, I was just doing this for fun, but am seriously sickened by the lay off, and more so the idea that I may have played a part in it.
@zdan - I don't see Recommend on my profile page. Where is it?
Thank you.
Hi everyone!
Yes, David. The titles of recently posted ireports are listed to the left but there are no images with them. Didn't know if this was temporary or a better way of doing this. It reminded me how much I need to work on better titles.
Thank you to your and your team by the way. You must've been burning the midnight oil.
Hi zdan. Nice photo. I want to be where you are:).
@Liberty1955 Thanks for checking the new site out! Yes, you can access the latest iReports whether you're logged in or not. You can always click on the "explore" link up top and then see a list of recent iReports in a list on the left side. You can expand that list, too, and see even more iReports.
Thanks for the new look! This is a fantastic service- having iReporters worldwide. Any additional thoughts or ideas to acknowledging iReporters? Additional badges, coverage, highlights?
The coverage on OWS has been fascinating!
@rosehips what browser are you using? There is supposed to be a thumbnail that shows up on the left side with the latest iReports.
Hi Everyone. Merry Christmas. LOL. Beautiful site but prefer the ireport photo galley at the main page.
The key word for me in formats is continuity. Is the story intact with respect to photographs and historical posts by the iReporter.
Welcome @pipedog
Well at roundtable discussions there should be a topic.
Somebody have a good topic to chat about?
@Chris - You are right. We are trying to have "following" play a larger role in the community. When iReporters follow you, every time you post an iReport, comment or favorite an iReport, it will show up in their activity feed. Give following a try!
I'm actually not sure how to find the latest ireports now. I find them earlier. But if I can't access the latest, I imagine others can't find them either. If Liberty is right that you can't access the latest unless you are logged in, this would not be good.
is iReport ignoring the question about the layoff and it's connection to the iReporters? Please let me know if this is true. Please let me know if I did or did NOT have an effect on 50 photojournalists being let go from CNN. I need to know.
Welcome @Sherbien
I'm on Safari, David.
Must we have the iReporters that we follow
to be seen on the left hand side of our profile?
@Sherbien Thanks! Glad to see you here. :) We're hoping to feature quality over quantity with our new main page, and also allow people to tailor it to their specific interests. But definitely would welcome any feedback you have!
HI @SarahBethB! We've got your questions. Lila will be chiming in soon.
@HeYiFu, you probably noticed the topic today is the new iReport site. We're talking about the new features, and answering questions people have.
Hi all - Alun here - apologies I can't join in fully this session (got a great film to go out and make now - long standing arrangement!) but will join into your 6pm your time discussion.
Everything looks wonderful!
Alun Hill
Why the mega-sizing of images? It is very dizzying.
Why no formatting now when uploading?
Uploading for me is slower, not faster. I wonder why?
Hi @mediaman - We are always looking at new ways to highlight iReporters' work. We will have new badges in the future and we think our new design will make it easier to show off the great work iReporters do every day.
it is good, will be nice share
David, on the left side of my ireport there is a list under "More by rosehips" It has bullets and then the titles. It would be nice if the pics were there instead of the bullets, but it isn't a really big concern for me.
@ SarahBethB
nobody wants to talk about it but if you've used iReport then yes you probably had something to do with it. People want news from people... is cheaper for CNN since they don't need to pay us and as this iReport grows bigger the less paid workers they need
Thanks, Alun! Glad you dropped by.
SaraBethB, can you please explain your Comment. Im new at this and your comment went over my head.
I think the assignments should be the first thing we see when we log onto iReport, not someone's user activity.
Good question, @sunethra. Yes, the iReporters you follow will be public, just like other social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter. Hopefully people who admire you will go your your page to see other great iReporters to follow!
@TeamiReport
The Join Group button works in FireFox but not Internet Explorer.
rosehips I hear that! I still have not found the latest ireports. I liked clicking on ireport and going immediately to the latest.
Very Clean. A little large, but easy to see!
Question: Will vetting be easier?
I have a new iReport with images/photos of the Oldest Sailing Ship at sea. Newsworthy?
@Ryn, did you try going to the "Explore" page - on the left side you'll see "Latest iReports" and under that "see more."
@rosehips -- There are some formatting issues in Safari, We are working on it.
@EWillies - Thanks! We will let our developers know.
@Ryn Hey! If you click the "explore" button at the top of every page, you'll get to a feed of the latest iReports. Look to the left of the explore page.
@woomegan88 Good point! When we create new assignments, the iReport team be able to publish them to everyone's iReport homepage, so you'll see new assignments and any fresh iReports. The page is designed to be dynamic and constantly changing. You can still see the top assignments here: http://ireport.cnn.com/community/assignment
I agree with sunethra. I don't like that others know who I'm following. I'd rather that be private. Can we have that option?
Breaking news: Gingrich surges. lol CNN should stop turning their poll results into "Breaking News."
;)
Hey @SarahBethB. Nice to see you here on the roundtable. You should know we've been working on the new iReport for a long time. This new site has nothing to do with the announcement on Friday.
...another thing, I use a very small notebook when I travel to download my photos and upload to CNN, as I imagine a lot more people are doing today. Not to mention their phones, so the new large version is wonderful for we squinters.
And I'll take your old spectacles, Rose':)
Hi Henry. What ho? Haven't seen you in a bit.
Thank you@Katie
OK, so the new way seems to be more cumbersome..a less direct way to see the reports and may lead viewers to think they have to be a member first..this may cut down on views by the general public until they decide to become a ireporter or member..
Hmm...are some questioners being ignored on this round table? It would seem that way.
Love the new look! It makes me want to get busy uploading some new Ireports.
@rosehips - Would be a good option to choose if we can to make our following private and to know who is following us.
@lila
The article I read specifically mentioned iReports. So maybe not the new site look, but the site in general? Is the information you receive from iReporters what caused the layoff?
Ok, SaraBethB, I scrolled up and read your take on the supposed layoffs.
As for me, Im a Street Photographer of 50 years and always welcome the opportunity to put my photographs to work. My understanding is that CNN instituted iReport as Citizen Journalism, which resonates with what Id call 'boots to the ground reporting,'
a globally accessible news service -- kind of a principally photographic form of Twitter.
Hi Henry. Thanks Rachel. Tried uploading one question for cedric but failed.
The new site looks fantastic! The new image sizes make me want to go back and view previous iReports. Also, great job on making the site feel more like a community. I am excited to explore and connect with other iReporters!
hey, nice new site. excited to be here!
Thanks much, @NatiLady!
dsashin & rachel8 Thanks will do! Nothing like teaching an old dog new tricks.
@NatiLady That's great! Exactly what we wanted to hear :)
Hmmm, it seems I have some new features to explore!
@NatiLady - Yay, we had hoped the new site would inspire great iReports! Check out our new video portrait assignment. I know you're handy with a camera! http://ireport.cnn.com/topics/703776
Awww, that's so sweet, @pipedog and @JDAlady!
Yes, as others have noticed, that my photos dating back to around February 2011 and earlier are no longer showing up.
Hi all! I like how everything looks! Hope you're going to fix those minor bugs that few people mentioned.
Indeed, @GoldenEst82! This is a good place to start checking out the new site features - http://ireport.cnn.com/welcome-to-ireport.jspa
Hi @k3vsDad -- We made the images bigger because we wanted to better show off the amazing photos and videos that iReporters are sharing.
We are still working on formatting issues, which is probably why they're blowing out your screen.
@SarahBethB I wasn't involved at all in those decisions so I'm really not in a position to discuss them. But from what I know, there were a lot of factors. I really don't think you should feel personally responsible.
@IvanKlindic You bet! We're logging all of the bugs and our tech team is hard at work. Please keep noting any issues you may encounter. Thanks!
@IvanKlindic Our tech team is hard at work on the little bugs. We hope to have a lot of fixes up within a day or so.
Haha, jinx.
The site looks great.
thanks idavidw...for me with my disabilities...it is producing major headaches...which I get any way. Even changing screen resolution doesn't help.
Maybe I'm still too idealistic, but I'd like to see iReport pick up on what Spot.us and Kickstarter are doing. It's impossible to cover a beat and not incur expenses.
Love the new look! Although I can't seem to be able to watch older iReporters videos. Only their "latest". Why is this?
Congrats iReport team! Now that I'm playing around with the beautiful redesign - what are the 3 main social design/updates?
Also, I'm inspired watching this new design, I LOVE bigger photos. As I photographer, it means alot that people can see my photo in a big resolution.
I like the larger pictures but would like to have the iReports list with who posted them back.
@Liberty1955 Thanks for the feedback. We're glad to hear from you. We're all getting used to the new format and how we all interact with it, and there's always a lot to look at when you put out a new site, so definitely make notes on what's working well for you and what you think could be better.
Sweet, thanks for the link @Katie! Is there anything major in the Uploading/Vetting process that has changed with the new layout?
@IvanKlindic Yeah, the bigger photos and videos were really important to us for this redesign. Glad you're enjoying them! We're super-excited for all our photogs. :)
Hello from Chile.
Site looks great. ❤ 2 c the old iR's..
Good luck with the tech. glitzes--
Hot weather here :-)
And should CNN choose to let iReporters become associate producers and each of you be laid off because someone else does the job for free- what then, do we not feel responsible at that point? I am not trying to take away from your forum, and apologize for getting off task.
@GoldenEst82 The only change with the uploading process is that everything should upload a lot more quickly. Yay! :) And plus, photos and video will be much bigger on the site to better show off your work. And our vetting process hasn't changed, no.
@NatanE Good question! Three of the biggest changes are the personalized homepage, which populates based on what groups you're part of and which iReporters you're following; the new story pages with BIG beautiful photos and video; and groups that are organized around topics where you can find out about new assignments based on what areas you're interested in. There are a lot of other smaller (but no less awesome) features too. Stay tuned for a blog post tomorrow with more details!
Hi Fillo,
That list is still there. If you click on the explore button at the top of the screen in the navigation bar http://ireport.cnn.com/explore.jspa
You'll then see latest iReports on the left.
At the bottom there's a link that says "See more" that takes you to the entire list.
It sounds convoluted, but it's the same number of clicks as in the old system.
Glad to hear that new uploader is much faster and more reliable than the old one. I will have to drive around to see how new things work. Thanks for the heads up.
Have a great day everyone!!!!
In the tour can you rotate the recommended iReporters to give others a chance for new followers?
Hello everyone. Wow the page is really big. I am trying to get used to it but love that the photos are bigger.
I have a question regarding maybe seeing a demographic of the people looking at your ireport and also when they share it where does it go? Which countries or States
Like the changes here CNN. I see potential ahead. Now if there was just a was to have a CNN iReport SHOW...lol
london eve said: "Love the new look! Although I can't seem to be able to watch older iReporters videos. Only their "latest". Why is this?"
very strange. I wonder why you can only see the younger ireporters' posts? yuk yuk
RE: Exposure with our new look, and the ability to find us
Our tags are even more important now too, as that is going to help direct people to our posts?
BTW, sometimes all of my tags aren't posted. Is that a decision at ireport, or just a glitch and I should I go back and repost if they haven't all uploaded?
Hi iMichael Saba! Good seeing you again.
Hey LondonEve,
Not sure why the link to show all of an iReporter's stories didn't show up, but we are working on it.
@ChrisMorrow Yes, we're planning to rotate out the recommended iReporters fairly regularly. As you can imagine, we're pretty swamped with logging bugs, responding to comments, etc. today, but expect to see some changes soon!
Hi all. Keep forgetting about the time difference
On the uploading, will formatting for stories be brought back or will we have to edited to add any formatting such as making bold some passages?
I know I have had to do that on all uploads this morning. Plus my uploads have been slower, not faster.
Got to go.. on the run.
Have a wonderful day :-))
Any changes planned for mobile uploads?
Good luck with fixing bugs, hope you won't have any problems :)
Hi ecotraveler,
I'm not sure why tags wouldn't post. You should be able to go in and edit your story to add additional tags if you want to.
@Mrsoundbite We actually do have an iReport show, it runs on CNN International. (http://www.cnn.com/CNNI/Programs/ireport/)
@ireporttwo - Good question. Mobile changes are on our wish list after we tweak the latest changes on the site.
@TeamIReport
One suggestion. There are time that am iReport is used in a video on CNN.com or in a story on CNN.com. I think it would be beneficial to CNN.com traffic and iReport.com's worth to them as well if backtrack links are provided. Something like
Used In:
Link to "Story used In"
Lonk to "Video used in"
etc tec/
Just a thought.
Ok, all..gotta go. Hasta luego.
@katie - Thanks. Question on the Profile assignment. Does the background matter for the 10 seconds?
Hi,
Not very pleased with the new CNN IReport look...
Hey @SarahBethB - look, I really wish I had more info for you but I don't. What I do know is that since iReport launched more than 5 years ago, we've hired more people than ever at CNN.com, including several iReporters. If you want to talk about it some more, let's do. I'll send you a separate note to set something up.
On the like or should be on CNN or violation option, hope this doesn't become another "One Star Bandit" issue again.
Remember?
Hi all, I am exploring the new site and it seems cleaner, I will try to upload a video and see what happens
@EWillies1961 Great suggestion! That an idea we've discussed for the future. We'll keep it in mind for sure!
nsaidi, thanks and you're right..just like last time the site changed..lot's to get used to..everything new takes some getting used to..the graphic display is certainly better...we'll see
Thanks zdan. I wish I could reply to people from my iphone when they send me a pm. I post sometimes sitting at coffee shops.
@katie - thanks!!
@ketie...hi...rotating sounds great...sometimes I feel like I post just for myself...good job...congrats to all...
Please @lila! But know that your note just now is VERY helpful to me. The idea that more are hired than fired is a HUGE thing.
@ChrisMorrow For the video portrait assignment, you're welcome to use whatever background you would like! A location that tells us something about you (i.e. your house, or in front of your favorite view of the city) would be especially great!
hey, has your team addressed some of the comments disappearing after they are posted? Not sure why and doesn't happens always but from time to time..
@Creveca Sorry to hear that. User feedback is really valuable for us - any specific problems you're having? If you can give us a little more detail, we can definitely help you out. Also, we'll be making some tweaks to the site all day today and tomorrow that make things look a little cleaner for you.
katie that's a nice clear picture of you.
I will give the uploader a workout with some more SEMA video segments in the coming week. Can I get a vet for attending the last two chats? :) I shot some very cool stuff out there ... apologies in advance for not getting the footage cut quickly!
@k3vsDad - We don't have any plans to include special formatting in the iReport text.
I'm not sure why the uploader is slower for you.
You might try restarting your browser or clearing your cache to see if that helps.
@mugur Hopefully the new site will make you feel like you're part of a worldwide community!
Okay, I promise to stay on track now. Valid question: can you remove the "FAILED UPLOAD" reports? I really dislike even seeing them as I spent a great deal of time trying to upload, had notice they uploaded successfully and now a sore spot to see them failed. :)
@Mrsoundbite
You are stealing my idea. I have suggested that many times. In fact some of us got together once to propose something but it fizzled:)
give some space (and time) in the iReport's home page to all new reports, also if not featured by CNN
Thanks davidw...LOL...already tried all that. So we will have to format by editing every iReport. OK...just seems like an extra step.
rose, I see that too..only the latest reports we did show up on our profile unless you go to your profile and click on my ireport..then they show all your reports..an extra step..for sure
I notice thst in uploading using my tablet, filename of the photos appeared and not the photos and folders. Got tons of photos stored in my tab and find it hard to scroll down and look for the photos and videos. The old one is better fir me bec i can see the photos im uploading. I just dont know if iphone or any mobile users will have the same. Thanks
make all comments editable for ten minutes, to correct its grammar or to add info
@SarahBethB Those uploads you're seeing in that list are only visible to you. That way, if you ever have a failed upload you can get your link from that page for troubleshooting. But no one else can see those links, rest assured!
Thank you for your time all. I need to go cover the America's Cup. There all this week.
Please follow me and say hello! I'm interested in getting to know the new improved CNN iReport Community!
ciao!
Have a great week to all of you. Thanks team ireport for this new look and feature.
Thank you @nsaidi
Hi @Ryn -- We will be watching very carefully to make sure that the feedback buttons aren't abused, but I'm pretty sure we won't have a return of the one-star bandit.
In the old-old-old system, the stars played a role in what appeared on the site.
The new feedback will help us identify stories we should look at, but they will only be one tool.
iReport producers will continue to search the site looking for good stuff.
hey..could you put a spell check on the comment box? It would help to make our thoughts more intelligent sometimes...LOL
RE: Video uploads
Will it be easier to upload videos now to this new site? Any changes I should know about? As you know, I've been unsuccessful to date but should I try again? Is there something different now or a new "secret" I should know?
Thank you again. Great questions; learned lots. Good seeing you guys!
@ecotraveler Yes, it should be easier and faster to upload videos now. We have a brand new uploader, so give it a try and see if it works for you. And let us know how it goes! We definitely want to alert our tech team if you run into any problems.
@marano -- Allowing editing of comments is an interesting suggestion. We'll have to think about it in the future.
@Liberty
You are so right. It also helps with my sometime flipping characters.
@liberty. I got lots of typo. Sorry.
Hey, CNN staff..looks good..interesting..you know how to keep us on our toes..I just hope the changes don't prevent as many visitors from seeing all that we contribute...gotta see some clients..see you all later...if I can find you..thanks
Hi everyone. I havent had time to read all the comments so I dont know if anyone has already suggested this.
The extra scroll to get to the comments wouldn't be bad if it wasnt for the stuff inbetween the report and the comments. Surely that can go down the side along with the reast of the bits already there.
Also can we have the thumbnails back on the list of previous reports? I do like the fact it shows more and the previously read.
David I think it is a really good idea and opportunity as long as it is not abused. It does give you guys a heads up on what is being looked at, things you might miss otherwise.
Oh, last thought..are our reports automatically tweeted still?
I just tried to upload and it says server problems - please try later ????
Also, does anyone else get a null message when sending PMs?
@Liberty1955 - Regarding Twitter, it shouldn't have changed from your previous settings. If you chose to sync up your iReport account with Twitter, then yes, they'll still be tweeted. If you didn't, then they won't. We definitely encourage anyone who hasn't linked their iReport and Twitter accounts to do so!
Hi SPK -- I think those might be browser-related issues. We're still chasing down formatting gremlins.
A bit off track, but to help us know what will be chosen to be vetted... "Wolf Moon Chases Jupiter" had over 350 hits, but was not chosen. Should I have included a photo of the moon and Jupiter - which with my camera and not fotoshopping, would be two white dots, one slightly larger in a dark sky and probably blurred a bit? Not a good photo, but would that have made it a better choice and more complete so would have had a better chance for vetting? I know this could SOUND cranky, but honestly - it isn't:) Just a question so we know better what you all like.
@SPK I don't know if we've tested PMs yet today. We'll take a look. Thanks for the heads up!
@SPK - I'll check on the Private messages issue.
I haven't sent any this morning.
Hey looks great! Love what you are all doing as always!
@BarlondSmith - I'd try uploading again. We have been tweaking our site, so it might have been a fluke with the server timeout.
Thanks for joining us everyone.
If we didn't answer your question, I apologize, we will have another roundtable at 6 p.m.
You can also email your questions to me at david.williams@cnn.com
Thanks again.
Is it just me, using Firefox, but the site keeps going down and keep getting proxy errors?
The proxy server received an invalid response from an upstream server.
The proxy server could not handle the request POST /blogs/ireport-blog/comment/ireport-roundtable-coming-up-at-12-pm-et.
Reason: Error reading from remote server
Hey everyone! sorry I'm late! I like the new look, I've been searching around! Looks good!
@k3vsDad Nope, not just you. Our tech team is on it!
Thanks, Kyle! We'll have another roundtable at 6 pm ET - come back for that one and hang out with us!
Curious why we can see who people are following but we are not able to see who is following us...
I use Firefox (latest version) if that helps with the bug.
Sorry for the delay in giving that info but server said it was busy and I lost you for a few mins.
That would be good SarahBethB. I do like the fact the Vids don't Autoplay now.
Thats saves on bandwidth and having to constanly listen to the same thing everytime you refresh.
@SarahBethB - It would be nice to know who's following you. We're making a note for our developers. Thanks
I agree. See you at 6. Thanks everyone
I wonder if the lack of anonymity will make some people stop following ireporters?
It might but then it may get others to start using that function too.
I tend to only follow those I communicate with regularly anyways.
.....copied & pasted..more info//comments available on-line Google "CNN Layoffs"...you decide what's what!!
"The bulk of the cuts are among editors, photojournalists, and librarians. CNN SVP Jack Womack explained they were caused by the ability for virtually anyone to edit and publish video on their computers, or search for background information online, and by the proliferation of viewer-generated video that is used more and more in professional news coverage, especially on breaking news."
I think it should be easy to add a link to all our ireports directly from any of our reports. Instead of the previous 5 posts you should be able to also click "more by rosehips" to see my entire list. I hope you can make this easy fix.
yep, yadray. Mainstream media is taking a hit because of us. Citizen journalism gives us all the opportunity to be purveyors of news. I'm not quitting because it puts the mainstream out of work. Journalism is changing like the rest of stuff. We are adapting. As it should be...
I don't like the idea of iReports costing other people their jobs either. Certainly not with the Unemployment figures so high.
We may have to come and Occupy your office davidw, drums and all.
..Rose "as it should be"..really?..by reducing the quality of professional investigative reporting and photography?..by serving up pop culture as news?..by often permitting and giving priority to banal Twittered "reports" which receive 50,000 views to determine what's important "news"?..that's how "it" should be? Clearly, I'm of a different opinion.
Firefox provides spell check for comments. For those of us with scroll mice you can reduce or enlarge the screen by holding down the "ctrl" button while manipulating the scroll wheel. that helped me.
If you click on the "Explore" tag on top then click on "see more" tag on the left you can get what looks like a more familiar screen in Ireports.
I have 2x 22" screens so Im ok.
Hi everyone,
We will be having another iReport roundtable tonight at 6 p.m.
