iReport Roundtable: Tonight at 6 p.m. ET

Please join us here at 6 p.m. ET to talk about all of the new features on CNN iReport. iReport producers will be here to answer any questions, comments or concerns you may have about the new design.

Our developers have been working hard all day to chase down bugs on the site, so if you see anything that looks weird, please let us know. We got a ton of great feedback in the 12 p.m. session and we've already passed it along to the team.

If you can't make it to tonight's roundtable, feel free to email me at david.williams@cnn.com.

We'll look forward to talking with you.

Hello Again! I have some questions that weren't answered in the afternoon meeting....

How do you unfollow?

Is favoriting the only way to get all your ireports on the profile page?

What is the best resolution for images/videos?

Thanks!

So my first question is: When I click to "follow" someone, is there a space where I can say WHY I'm following this person or will it just show that I recently started following them?

Good evening all!

It's great to see how beautiful the site looks now - I especially love the widescreen / big screen effect of the videos - I must admit I've re-watched a couple of my own!

I've not seen any newer bugs this evening, but I only got back in from filming (a Glee club in the UK!) about 30 minutes ago.

Overall, the new look will bring in more viewers and encourage old and new iReporters to send in reports.

Impressed!

Alun

November 14, 2011

I really like the new updated look. The larger video is much better along with the 16 X 9 format.

@omekongo That's a good idea, but no, we don't presently have that functionality. Right now it'll just show that you're following them. If you want to let them know why you're following them, you could try leaving a comment on one of their recent iReports. But we'll definitely note your suggestion as a possible idea for the future!

November 14, 2011

Sorry I messed that sentence up. My pm's are still showing as I haven't looked at them. And getting duplicates. Hi Nicole and Katie. Loved your video Nicole

Hi Chris,

Let me answer your questions.

1) You can unfollow people by going to your profile page and clicking on the "Following" tab. That will give you the option to unfollow people

2)There's supposed to be a link for people to see all of your iReports on your profile, but it wasn't working for some reason. Our developers are fixing that.

3) Videos should be 16:9 ratio, but I'm not sure of best resolution.

Good evening. I have noticed that only the most recent 6 iReports are viewable when visitors go to a profile. Previously we were able to see the other reports posted that may have been of interest. Will we no longer be able to see others' past iReports? BTW I am using Firefox on a PC XP SP3

@robjh1 No, but stories that don't successfully upload are only visible to you, the uploader. They won't display publicly. So no worries there! (The reason we need to keep them on the site instead of deleting them entirely is so our tech team can investigate and see what went wrong with your upload.)

(as you asked!) Glee club - 3 films, two complete, one to film on Wednesday am. One is babies (yes, a Glee club for babies!), other is teenagers, third is adults - great fun - but it was going to be a surprise - and yes they'll be uploaded this week!

@omekongo That's a good question. We don't currently have our comments system set up so that people receive notifications when people reply or make additions to a thread. Notifying when people comment on your own video needs to be added, I think.

Then, the iReporter can comment back / respond. That adds to the liveliness of the thread - and increases the sense of community. It makes the site much more sticky, too, of course.

It also gives us very quick feedback - which helps for the next report.

This is probably a dumb question.  In the past, when an iReport I posted was vetted, I always wondered if.. or where it was used.  Is there anyway to add a link to the story or post where an iReport was used?.  I figured it would be a coding nightmare, but I figured I would ask.

The info I get from what shows on the page is

768px × 432px (scaled to 896px × 504px)

The original uploaded video was 1280x720 and in divx format.

When I view it fullscreen it doesnt look like it has lost any quality.

You should be able to work out the sizes from that. I would imagine as long as the ratio is kept it should work but maybe 1 of the experts can varify that.

Eek - looks like I missed the, to me, most important announcement!

Are uploads quicker now - hurrah if that's true. I've hated having to downgrade my video quality (I always film in 1080p full HD) in the past, just to upload in less than a few hours - it ties up my computer, too, of course!

Is it quicker now and what's the max size of a video, please?

(I uploaded the first of 9 films of me in with the animals at London Zoo today, but I went out whilst it was uploading, so I had no idea if it was quicker!)

That is a great question @omekongo.

I think that the thing that is going to make the new site a success is for people to be active on the site, by following cool people, favoriting iReports you like and joining groups you're interested in.

Then, when your followers see what you're doing, they'll favorite what they like and so on, and so on and so on.

But the biggest thing is for you to keep sharing stories that you are passionate about.

I agree with SarahBethB, if who we are following is visible, who is following us should be visible as well. Sometimes we follow another iReporter not because we agree, but do enjoy the discussion. Sometimes we follow, because we like iReporter and agree and like commenting. There are many reasons to follow and to be followed.

Throughout the years I have uploaded 1035 ireports but I can see only 15 of them on my profile, what happened to the rest? and where are the 154 vetted ones?????

Also if someone wants to view or I want to view my older ireports,

they are not on the profile, I hope that these iReports will be restored????

I like this. But I believe that the upload sizes limits could be shown and along with that I like the format how you can record a video with you tube. Maybe it would be possible for CNN to work with google to deploy uploading onto CNN direct with your webcam. That would be awesome I think.

After 10 minutes of poking around, I still can't find a dang thing. To put it politely, this new format is for the birds. Why change something that worked fine? BTW, everything loads in gigantic, super large text with graphics that take up most of the screen. If I try to make it smaller () other text gets tiny and unreadable.
