Internet Explorer issues

We've heard from several iReporters, who are having trouble using the site in Internet Explorer 9. Our developers have chased down the problem and expect to fix it with a software update on Thursday. That's just one of the bugs they're planning to correct. We'll let you know when we have more details.

If you see anything that looks weird or isn't working right, please let us know and we'll check it out.

Thanks for your help and your patience.

Thanks for the update. The IE9 stuff makes it difficult since I use it as my default browse. Please push the .WMV fix as well since many devices generate that file format because it is compact with good results and everyone is up to conversions.

Thanks for the great work you guys are doing. This face lift gives iReport a new life that I thinks gonna fly.

Best bet get Chrome, IE9 has bugs

November 16, 2011

Cnn iReport has meant a lot to me.  So I wondered whether to just e mail some of the staff, or try to make a story?

In any case, I got 4, each, different, e mail, private messages, telling me of Cnn iReport's new format, and I clicked on each link, and each time, my Internet Explorer 9.0 froze up and stopped working, causing me to use the Task Manager on my Windows 7, 64 bit computer, to close CNN iReport.

Everything else on my computer worked just fine, including the main CNN site.  But whenever I went to the Cnn iReport site, my computer acted in exactly the same manner.

Eventually, I downloaded Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox, and found out that the Cnn iReport site worked fine with those browsers.

What seemed to be happening is, ONLY WHEN I USED MY I.E. 9.0 to access iReport, my modem access would be reset.  And I would use the Windows 7 tools to fix it, but each time, it came up as a different sort of problem.

I was able to use Task Manager to close the program, and sometimes had to reboot, or use the Windows 7 tools to fix the modem, one time turning off, and then turning on the modem, on one occasion, or just waiting for internet access to be restored.

Finally, realizing the problem only occurred with iReport on I.E. 9, and not with Mozilla or Chrome, and not with any other web site on my computer, I uninstalled I.E. 9, and am currently using I.E. 8, which came with my new computer, bought early this year. Cnn iReport works just fine with my original I.E. 8 program.

I have not bothered to reinstall I.E. 9.  In fact, I didn’t start using I.E. 9 until about 3 months after it was published, because it seemed to have flaws, even back then.

I don't know if this is a result of some personal attack upon me, or just a flaw or bug in the new iReport web site, or perhaps a virus or worm in the system, as I am just an average slob, who enjoys his computer, and not an expert.....LOL.....LOL  But I thought I'd share my story, and hope that everyone keeps enjoying iReport.

I just wanted to alert iReport staff, and THIS IS NOT A COMPLAINT.

I have had several computer crashes over the years, and on several occasions, have had to re-install my original software and lost thousands of photos, sometimes for mistakes I made myself.

I realize that nothing about computers is PERMANENT, and we all live IN THE PRESENT, on CNN iReport.

This iReport is merely a heads up about a problem I encountered with iReport and my own, personal computer.

I KIND OF HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. EVERY WHERE I went TO SIGN IN FOR WINDOWS LIVE, I HAD SO MUCH PROBLEM GETTING IN THAT NOW, THEY BLOCK MY ACCOUNT, NO RESPONSE FROM THEM. so I SWITCH TO GMAIL GOT AN ADDRESS THAN COULD NOT ACCESS MY YOUTUBE ACCOUNT, ITS BLOCK. nO RESPOND FROM THEM EITHER. I HAVE 100 VIDEOS ON MY YOUTUBE CHANNEL. i WENT ON TWITTER IT WAS CLOSE. NOW, WITH THIS BEAUTIFUL SITE SAME THING, THE PICTURES, THE WRITING WERE ALL OVER THE SCREEN, TRY MANY TIMES TO ATTEND THE ROUND UP TABLE BUT I WAS NOT HAVING GOOD REMARKS TO SAY SO FAR. i THOUGHT IT WAS DUE TO THE FACT, I MENTION A GROUP IN MY REPORT THAT SOMEONE TOOK OVER MY COMPUTER. AND FOR FACEBOOK THIS GROUP HAD MENTION THEIR INTENTION TO DO SOMETHING SO IS THAT IT? WE HAVE BEEN BUGGED OR WHAT.

HOPEFUL WE WILL SURVIVE FROM ALL THIS AND ENJOY OUR LITTLE FUN ON IREPORT.

Could this be the problem behind posting and then getting a "busy" message? Twice this has happened and I thought I didn't get posted, and then it ended up showing twice later. I promise that I'm not trying to post everything twice!

Congress is trying to censor the internet. Help Mozilla fight for a free and open web: Get involved today.I think the internet is not perfect , but I know if congress  puts his hand on it  it will make  worst and probobly at the end we will have to pay to get a decend browser like google  chrmoe , fire fox, or even Iternet explorer

I still seem to have issues with IE9, have to use Chrome to upload. With IE9 it just hangs on upload. Also have to refresh many times to get a page to display right, every page. Chrome does not do that nor does FireFox on a linux machine.

I'm sorry, CNN, I will not do your reporting for you. Even if you add an 'i' before 'Report.'

But nice try.
