Hi everyone,

Welcome to the roundtable. I hope everyone's doing well.

Before we get started, I wanted to make sure you saw something really special. Daphne put together a really compelling story from people who were impacted by the Iraq war. http://www.cnn.com/2011/12/15/world/meast/iraq-ireporter-stories/index.html

Hey, davidw. Good afternoon, hope all is well.

Did you get my PM about the viewer discretion issue?

Hi, all Alun here! Greetings!

(and the link from the top of the iReport home page is a 404 - eek!)

I did see that, sorry I hadn't had a chance to respond. Our moderators took the discretion banners off of your reports because they weren't needed.

@davidw

Great article. Scanned it but read the captions. WOW! All is fine. Will be videoing an Occupy rally tomorrow.

Thanks Chris,

Sorry about the bad link Alun, I'll check it out.

Ah...OK...david, figured the subject was controversial so trying to error on the side of discretion.

I'm curious. What did y'all think of the open forum last week? Is that something we should do more often?

@k3vsDad - Controversial is fine. We normally only use the discretion banner when there's violence, language or nudity or something that would be really shocking for someone to click on.

The Iraq report, mentioned by Davidw above  is very well done.

Do we know how it was done - Powerpoint / Apple Keynote?

It's a great way of bringing a report, thats for sure - and thank heavens that war is over.

(Now Iran next, possibly, though).

One thing I noticed over the weekend were all the "ireports" with links for folks to watch football games, isn't that just spam?

December 15, 2011

I'm not sure how they did it Alun. One of our webmasters built it. I don't know how they coded it.

Yes, The football ads were spam. Our moderators took them down.

Don't know what has changed, but it seems that uploads are going much, much quicker today than before. Hope it's not a glitch...LOL.

The open forum was basically a roundtable post, but with out the iReport Team because we were short staffed. We basically wanted to give folks a chance to talk even though we weren't around.

There's a couple of holiday assignments we've got going -- The deadline for the high-tech holiday display is tomorrow, so if you know anyone with a super-fancy computerized light display or something like that, here's the link: http://ireport.cnn.com/topics/713684

Does anyone follow other iReporters, but get the email advising of a new iReport an hour after the post goes live?

I do, but am sure it was quicker before the upgrade.

Hey EWillies,

It probably won't be until after the first of the year.

@AlunHill -- I don't use the email notifications because I'm pretty much always on the site. I just keep an eye on my main page. I'll ask Pete though

I have a favor to ask everyone.

I would like for everyone to invite their friends and family to join iReport. I know a lot of folks will be getting together for the holidays, so it would be awesome if you could mention it to folks you think would be interested.

One more cool thing is that Clark Howard is an iReporter now. He posted his first iReport while I was on vacation.

He's also asking people to share their financial resolutions for the new year.
