The latest and greatest on CNN iReport, brought to you by Team iReport.
Please join us here at 2:30 p.m. ET for our weekly roundtable discussion. We’ll be chatting about the iReport Debate, which invites users to sound off on what issues matter most to them this election season.
So far, we’ve received nearly 300 iReports from people who have shared the issue that is most important to them, but we want to hear from more of you! So far, the coasts are represented. But, where are the Midwest, Great Plains, Rockies and the South?
The top issues so far are: economy, health care, taxes and gripes with the state of politics in general, but we haven't heard as much about issues like immigration, housing and student loan woes.
iReport producer Christina Zdanowicz and other team members will share more details about the project, and will answer any questions you have. We also look forward to hearing your ideas on how to invite a wider audience to participate in this special project.
We’ll open comments at 2:30 p.m. ET. We look forward to talking to you then!
Hi everyone and welcome to the roundtable.
Christina just came out of our daily coverage meeting, so she'll be joining us in just a second.
Greetings All
Good afternoon! Sorry, I missed last week as internet was down...hmm. So today is about the iReport Debate. Sounds good...at least I have 5 in for Indiana in the Midwest...LOL.
Hey guys!
hello, all, from wilkes-barre, pa.
We are really excited about the response we've gotten, but we're hoping to get even more people involved.
Hey everyone! Thanks for coming.
David:
Question......What can be done with our videos regarding the quality once they are uploaded........I use very good software and a pc that is also very nice, the video is really great and shines, however when they are uploaded they are grainy and not very clear....Can tech support work on this....
Hi everyone!
I wanted to give an update on where we're at with the iReport Debate. So far, we've received 300 submissions with your top issue this election! But, we're seeing some groups that are underrepresented.
I can't remember...blame it on age...does the submissions need to be videos? If not, then it may attract more participation.
@k3vsDad - we're allowing all types of submissions, including text-only ones.
Hi JVHill,
We are working on the video quality issues.
When you have a problem, please send me an email with a link and all of the software and settings you're using.
That will help us identify the problem.
Thanks
I haven't uploaded yet...Still working on it. Will there be another trip to New York with this. I had a great time back in Sept. 08
Thanks and good zdan...maybe I can talk a couple into doing up a report who normally only comment then.
Hi @mongo9584. Everyone has ONE WEEK left to submit! That's until May 4, so there's still time to get your issue represented.
Whoa, that'd be great to get some of the iReport commenters involved, k3vsDad! They're such a big part of the community.
zdan...what are you talking about??????/
Yes...I am about done....Should make it by then.
along the lines of getting more people involved in the debate, i want to share a couple of lines from my "america's choice" clips:
The open debate of issues, the education of voters, non voters, citizens
this is the most important part of the process, more important even than who gets elected. Therefore, I think it is absolutely critical to a free society for people to get involved in the debateto get our heads out of the sand and keep them out so that who we are and what we feel is a presence in the minds of those who will get elected.Ditto on what Zdan said. It's been fascinating seeing such a broad range of opinion on so many different topics, I've really enjoyed seeing everyone sounding off on what's important to them.
Of course, we'd love to hear from even more people, so encourage your friends to chime in too, either by video or text. The more voices we get, the more awesome the finished product is going to be.
@JVHill - The iReport Debate! Have you shared your top issue this election yet? If not, here's where you can submit: http://ireport.cnn.com/topics/773030
zdan...yep I have, I was questioning about the NY situation.....
Hi All, just jumping in to see what is happening.
So far, for example, we've heard from a lot of Democrats and Independents on their top issue this election. But, where are the Republicans at? We want to capture a diverse array of responses along the political spectrum.
My question is why has this administration not endorsed or help move along the NITC /DRIC bridge at Americas Biggest Border Crossing. Canada is already building the road to the New Bridge and they have also said they will pay for the US portion. So why has Obama kept silent is it because the Governor pushing for as well is republican?
JV HILL, me too on issues. On my nexus the ireport fails to go through the app. More often than not. Frustrating.
hello everybody
Michigan2012...first I've heard about this. Have you done up an iReport about it? Haven't seen anything in any of the news feeds either.
Hi @Michigan2012 - Welcome! We're actually wanting to hear from more iReporters from the Midwest. We encourage you to clearly explain your top issue, tell us why it matters to you and then upload text or video here: http://ireport.cnn.com/topics/773030
Hello, Everyone! I think the election debate is interesting but how to participate in it from the other continent.
Welcome @EWillies1961!
hey @bigmahi - gonna send photos of the shuttle's flyover tomorrow? i'd love to see!
Hi hhanks!!!! How have you been?
Hi guys! Enjoying seeing your perspectives on this upcoming election.
Welcome @mongo9584 and @markpel!
Hi everyone. I have one off topic question/problem. Since yesterday I haven't been getting the emails that I always get when someone comments on one of my ireports. Is this happening to anyone else?
Property taxes on Long Island a major issue. People selling and moving south to afford a nice home. This is more a local issue.
@markpel, For the iReport Debate, we're only counting responses from folks in the U.S. who are eligible to vote in this election. HOWEVER, we're always interested in international perspectives on the U.S. elections, and we might be working on a project about just that in the next few weeks. I would encourage you to submit your thoughts to our election 2012 assignment: http://ireport.cnn.com/topics/723718
I love this project. I heard stuff out of my daughter I did not expect.
Sorry wasnt sure how this Worked but for us here in the Midwest The Bridge crossing is a huge deal being that the troll that lives under the current bridge has held a monopoly at americas busiest crossing and the second big issue for us especially in Michigan is that with 83,000 high paying jobs available in the state where do we find the talent and skilled workforce to fill them NOW.
Hi Nsaidi
KCRep...I'm still getting notifications.
@bigmahi - Property taxes are definitely a hot local issue in a lot of places. Is there a national issue that will be driving you to vote come November?
KCRep, I have never got any emails when someone have commented on my iReports.
KCRep....I'm also getting them
Ok i now understand how this works, I look forward to submitting some reports
Thanks k3 and JVHill...I wonder why mine stopped..
Great Michigan2012 - I would encourage you to start by thinking about the broader issue you want to talk about such as jobs, the economy, government reform, infrastructure, etc. and then go into the specifics about the bridge/crossing.
jmsaba, thanks! Maybe later I`ll post something.
I have so many issues it is hard for me to get them into small video clip..that is why I haven't uploaded yet.
I would also encourage everyone to invite your friends to share their issues. I'm betting that a lot of you hang out with people who are also interested in politics, so it would be great to get their input too.
Hi mongo9584. I think that's what makes it challenging because we're asking people to talk about the one issue that matters more than anything else.
gotta run....be well.
I know what I did for the iReport Debate was the main concern of choice between 2 options initially. Then I broke that down into 4 issues in subsequent reports.
davidw, very few people from Germany want send iReports. Can you say why?
Maybe the biggest issue is inflation. Instead of blaming the oil companies for the price of gas we should blame Washington for printing so much money. It is not that gas is getting more expensive, it is that a dollar doesn’t buy as much gas, bread or milk that it once did. It is because we are printing too many dollars.
And piggybacking on Dave's comment -- If all of you could get just one friend to submit their top issue, it'd make a big difference!
@mongo9584 Sounds like a good issue to run with for this project, to me. The economy has been a big talker among our readers, and this is a different angle on it.
@k3vsDad Wow, great to see you getting involved with this project. Was there any particular issue or thing that stands out to you the most?
Hi all. On my iPhone so my updates are limited.
@zdan. I know marketing is going to use the "American Footage". They haven't tagged any of them yet but can you use any of it for the debate project?
Hi and goodbye!
I guess this time again it's all about your elections. If you need an international issue let me know. It seems so complicated and so long your election process; unbelievable how much money is waisted for that. The only election process need to be issue in my international point of view. So many million spend for that. I think the money they spend in their election grand tour should be equaly spend to a good cause. Hows that!
So have fun guys can wait to see your issues.
@nsaidi...Yes I have been leaning that way. I was also thinking about how it is that no one is going to jail over the big economic mess we are in.
Oh! by the way anyone invited to Clooney'S big party with Obama?
To me, nsaidi, the biggest concern is the choice in the fall between either:
1. More federal government involvement
2. More local/state control with less federal.
Economy of course is the top issue in determining which choice to make.
I must go now... have a great weekend!
@airnation1 For the iReport Debate, we're only looking to include those who will be voting in the U.S. elections in November. That doesn't mean that we're not interested in international perspectives on U.S. politics; we might be working on a project about what international iReporters think about the U.S. elections. I would encourage you to submit your thoughts to our election assignment: http://ireport.cnn.com/topics/723718
@MelissaF - We are actually linking your student loans iReport in the iREport headlines on the homepage of CNN.com today! It's an excellent topic. As for the "American Footage," I think it falls outside the scope of this project, but I appreciate the idea!
Just a quick shout-out to @JannetWalsh

Hey Ryn, welcome! Have you shared your top issue and uploaded to the iReport Debate assignment?
No not yet ooooooh so many issues.
@all iReport staff...is there a way to turn off getting emails everytime a comment is posted on my profile?
@Ryn - Well, you've got til next Friday, May 4, to submit your top issue! We just want everyone's issues to be heard so we can put it to a vote, coming May 9.
Have a great week everyone.
Just a few days left to tell us which show deserves another season! Is your favorite on this list?
