Congrats @beetraveler and @ChrisMorrow!

All, the Awards are especially exciting this year because we're extending the celebration into a weekend-long event here at the CNN Center June 22-24. We'll be hosting some hands-on sessions and discussions and some fun networking events in addition to the Awards ceremony itself!

Since it's the first year we'll be hosting an Awards weekend, we're keeping attendance low -- all of the nominees will be invited first, and then we'll open the remaining RSVPs to the community. (Of course, we hope this year will be a success so we can make the weekend even bigger and better for future years!)

@EWillies1961 Good question! The head-to-head debates will kick off in a few weeks. We're allowing people to rank their top issues until next Wednesday (http://www.cnn.com/interactive/2012/05/politics/ireport.debate.poll/index.html) and then the fun will begin! (And we're hoping this will get some good TV play, too.)

So, do you guys want to hear about our latest fun assignment? It's similar to Sound Off, but invites iReporters to ask questions to the community: http://ireport.cnn.com/topics/790940

It's something that many of you have been doing for years, but it's nice to now have a home for the responses.

Anyone have any news stories that they've been asking their friends about? For me, it was the recent TIME breastfeeding cover.

I think the ask the community thing is going to be fun, because it's something that iReporters do all the time.

We've been watching these amazing conversations pop up on the site, so we want to share the best ones with a wider audience.

Ciao All! I'm off to interview Cirque du Soleil.

Thanks for the congrats and I wish the 36 nominees could all be winners. They are so good - Thank you for placing one of my iReports in their company for the second year!

Matt Sky hit a pretty big home run with his question about the $500 million lottery jackpot.

http://ireport.cnn.com/docs/DOC-768119

Can you think of any questions that make you want to start a conversation?

Maybe ... take a look at the CNN homepage right now. There's a lot of juicy topics out there. Government. Religion. Same-sex marriage. The economy. Business. A horse that swam 2 miles.

What inspires you? Where does your eye immediately go?

@katie

the recent TIME breastfeeding cover is certainly a hot topic! A few of my female friends, some of whom are female entrepreneurs in fields related to this top, are often actively blogging about motherhood trends etc and they've been buzzing about the Time cover. I may get them on camera if they're interested. They've got a lot to say for sure...

People have been talking about the Facebook IPO a lot in the newsroom. Interestingly enough, I'm hearing a lot of the same things that people were saying when the lottery was so big a few weeks ago.

I have to ask this question. Any of the winners from the very first awards be invited? Also where is the disclaimer now?

May 17, 2012

@beetraveler I'd love to hear their perspectives! It's a fascinating conversation.

Ha! I had noticed when poring over reader comments that someone had also asked a similar question about what could have also been done with the money politicians are raising for their campaigns.

@Ryn Hello! Right now we're just inviting this year's nominees, but will open the remaining RSVPs to everyone. Obviously, we'd love to invite everyone, but have to smart with a small group since this is our kickoff event. Hopefully we'll get to do it with a bigger group in future years!

I'm not sure what you mean by the disclaimer question. Can you explain?

May 17, 2012

Ryn

There was a huge long disclaimer talking about the rules and regulations of participants as well countries that were not able to participate or were void.

I just tried to go to that page but it is no longer there.

Will CNN iReport be asking for photos and videos of the Olympic Torch Relay as it passes through the United Kingdom over the next ten weeks or so? If so, what sort of photos / videos are you looking for?

May 17, 2012

Hi Harry,

We would love to get Olympic Torch photos or videos.

I saw some come in from Greece today, but I don't think we've been able to vet them yet.

I would encourage you to post whatever you think is interesting.

We are really curious how what people in the U.K. are thinking as the event approaches.
