This iReport is part of an assignment:
A fortnight of fireworks |
4th of July Asbury Park NJ Fireworks 2013
What looked like record crowds were on hand in Asbury Park New Jersey, a shore city hit by Hurricane Sandy, to view the Independence Day fireworks display.
The display was much larger and longer than previous years, and thousands of people jammed the boardwalk and beach to watch and cheer. A chant of 'U.S.A.! U.S.A.!' was heard after the finale.
The city is famililar to fans of Bruce Springsteen, who spent much of his early career here, and named his first album after a postcard caption; "Greetings from Asbury Park, NJ"
A great show seen by many who were affected by Hurricane Sandy. On social media many NJ shore towns were reporting huge turnouts for their Independence Day fireworks.
