TPO Performs An American in Bangkok
American guest conductor Jeffery Meyer joins TPO to perform American composer Aaron Copland’s Symphony No. 3, a magnificent symphonic work containing one of Copland’s most recognizable melodies – the Fanfare for the Common Man.
The program also features young Thai violinist Pitchayapa Lueangtawikit performing Saint-Saëns’ Violin Concerto No. 3. Ms. Pitchayapa Luengtawikit won the first prize of Anzca Modern Violin Competition which was her first national competition as well as received the Gold Medal prize of The Settrade Young Musician Competition 2009 in the same year.
In 2010, she was awarded the third prize of the Fourth Beethoven Competition in Thailand in the age category of 13-17 years and won the gold medal prize of The Settrade Young Musician Competition for a second time. She is currently a M4 student at the Pre-College program at the College of Music, Mahidol University.
Pitchayapa is also a member of Dr. Sax Ensemble and has participated in the 29th World Conference of the International Society for Music Education (ISME) in Beijing, China in 2010.
