    Venice, night of Redentore

When the epidemic was halted the Senate, thanking the Redeemer Jesus for answering its prayers, it built Il Redentore church and started an annual festival. Today, the "Notte del Redentore" is a great excuse for fireworks.

Local Stefano Baliello managed to capture this shot whilst hanging on to the railing of a boat amongst the thousands of revellers in July 2009.
