    Focal Point Mantel

Just because your home doesn't have a fireplace doesn't mean you can't enjoy a mantel. This mantel was a gift from my parents and gives the room a great focal point, even though it is not part of a working fireplace. I often change the decorations with the season but try to keep them simple to highlight the detail in the mantel. For the summer I've gone with a collection of milk glass for a light and airy feel. Items always have greater impact in groups and the mantel is a great place to give special collections prominence. I also filled in the space left by the fireplace with a wreath to add texture and life. The traditional sconces on either side are given a modern pop of color with hot pink tapers.
