CNN iReporter hit with gas canister.

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     ealghalib told me, 'There were minor skirmishes around the area. I had shot more than enough footage from behind the police and wanted to get in front of the action. I found a group of protesters who were being fired on by police and took shelter next to a car. Next thing I knew, my right knee was knocked out from under me. Felt like someone hit me with a metal pipe. It took me half a second to figure out that I had been hit by a tear gas canister. I never saw it coming. I was looking in the view finder when it hit. When I looked back at the footage I realized that I had got it all on tape. I don't think the police were aiming for me. I think it was just a case of being in the wrong place at the wrong time, or for us journalists, being exactly at the right place at the right time. I am able to walk on my leg no problem, but it is sore and swollen.' He told me that overall, this was 'no big deal. If this is the worst thing that happens to me this month, then I am blessed indeed.' (As always, we ask that you not expose yourself to a risky or potentially dangerous situation. - hhanks, CNN iReport producer

I was out filming the skirmishes happening around Taksim Square when I ducked behind a car for cover as police were in the distance ahead of me firing tear gas in my direction. Then suddenly, my knee was knocked out from under me by a canister. It felt like someone wearing boots kicked me on the side of my right knee.

When I checked the footage I found that I had caught it all on camera.

My knee is fine, just a bit bruised and swollen. Fortunately I wasn't hit in the face or head and was about 100 -150 meters away from where it was fired from.
