    Zimmerman verdict: The world reacts

    More from DesireG

Zimmerman could be the next OJ Simpson

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     DesireG told me, 'The Prosecution has done a decent job of showing Zimmerman's account to be questionable but they have not done the job "proving" that he intended to kill Trayvon before they fought, which leaves room for reasonable doubt. I have to think about the Zimmerman case in legal terms because if I don't it would hurt too much. As a teen I remember the irrational support many Black people gave OJ Simpson just because they didn't want to see a "influential" Black man behind bars. I remember thinking, why are we supporting a man who may have murdered his wife? Over time I've come to realize that people weren't so much supporting Simpson as much as they were supporting an "idea." The idea of a Black man finally getting over in a system that was designed to work against him.'
    - hhanks, CNN iReport producer

Well America, I believe George Zimmerman is going to be the next OJ Simpson. Why, because the jury has to make a decision that answers a very simple and straightforward question. Was Zimmerman acting in self-defense when he shot and killed unarmed Trayvon Martin? I believe the jury's answer will be yes.

If he is found guilty of 2nd degree murder I will be shocked. If he gets manslaughter I will be relieved but if he gets off totally free I would just have to let it be.

Now don't get it twisted. His acquittal would not mean that he is a good man. His acquittal would not mean that he does not need to do some serious soul searching. And it also wouldn't mean that he's somehow truly free. It will only mean that his story of self-defense could not be disproved beyond a "reasonable" doubt.

Now there is a very very very ever so slight chance that the jury will charge him with manslaughter.

But that has always been the trouble with the "Legal" or "Justice" system. The system is less about justice and more about what is legal. What I'm trying to say is that legal vs illegal is not the same as wrong vs right.

And because of that Zimmerman will most likely get off and skip into the sunset but as my mother likes to say; No matter where you go in order to hide from the world you're going to have to live with yourself. Oh yes Zimmerman you're going have to LIVE with yourself.
