
Anti Theft Software Catches Criminal in Brazil
Using a security software called MacKeeper Brazilian police are able to track down the criminal and return the stolen property. It all happened on June 24th, 2013 when 21 year old Luiz Fernando Garcia de Oliveira broke into a home and stole 2 MacBook computers, money and other personal property. Police have not named the victim in the case to protect the identity and ensure safety until after the trial.
The suspect entered the home while the victim was sleeping and the following morning police were called to the scene. Within hours the victim was able to activate a Anti Theft software called MacKeeper that took a picture of the person using the computer and generate an ip location report.
Within 24 hours of activating the software Civil Police in Curitiba, Brazil arrested 21 year old Luiz Fernando Garcia de Oliveira. The investigators were shocked by the amount of information the software was able to produce.
