10Fwy Shut Down by Trayvon protestors

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     PaulaGibson says she heard that 10 Freeway in Los Angeles was being blocked by people who were protesting the George Zimmerman verdict on July 14. She attempted to avoid that area entirely by driving through back roads, but found that people were blocking those roads as well. It was then that she says people carrying banners and flags towards the highway. She decided to see what was happening, and followed protesters. 'The crowd was multi-cultural,' she said. 'Black, white, brown and Asian people. At that point, the LAPD was staying back down... All of sudden, people starting walking down the east bound entrance ramp. At that point, I turned on the video and started following them. Some people were expressing concern about being arrested and stopped on the entrance.' Some protesters were ultimately arrested during the protesting.

Although she was there was an observer, she says the revenge people are seeking out for Zimmerman is not going to slove anything. 'There are many Zimmerman's out there. I think that we need to talk about neighborhood watches that permit participants to carry loaded, ready to fire, guns in lieu of seeking and waiting for police intervention,' she said. 'We need to talk about the ease with which people can get guns and the consequences on many fronts. Disparate treatment is rampant in our justice system and it might be impossible to correct, but we do need to try.'
