CNN PRODUCER NOTE     JoJaqs and a friend traveled to Maker Faire Detroit, a DIY festival held every summer, where they shot and recorded this video on July 27 and 28. Mullins describes his fascination with 'making': 'After graduating [from college] and starting immediately with my current employer, I needed to fill the void of time beyond my 40 hour work week since I was used to taking 20 hours of classes and working 4 jobs totaling 70 hours a week. I began to tinker, and one day watching the Travel Channel, I saw a blurb about the original maker faire in San Francisco. I subscribed to the magazine which is at the heart of the DIY culture and started building things.'

At the fourth annual Detroit Maker Faire, hacker-spaces around the country encourage interest in engineering education for America's youth by altering their childhood mode of transportation to carry their adult bodies around a parking lot race track while maintaining strict guidelines from the Power Racing Series.
