    A Whale of a Tale

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     Wendy Keck Ellis took her children on a whale watching cruise in Cape Cod, Massachusetts, while there for her daughter's skating competition on August 1. They visited the Stellwagon National Marine Sanctuary, where Ellis enjoyed seeing her daughter 'enthralled' by the approaching whales. The Stellwagon Bank National Marine Sanctuary is really amazing. I had no idea we had this kind of treasure in our parks and wildlife system,' she says. 'I learned so much from the naturalist on the boat and from the materials they gave us.' Her fifth photo was featured as CNN's Travel Photo of the Day for September 11, 2013.
    - jccarp, CNN iReport producer

We recently visited Cape Cod for a skating competition. My ten year old daughter, who loves whales and dolphins, and I went out on one of the Whale Watch cruises and it was simply amazing. I had no idea that the Stellwagon Bank National Marine Sanctuary even existed - what a treasure. We were so close to these amazing creatures. We saw humpback, finback and minke whales. They were so beautiful and HUGE. This series of photos is of two humpback whales. If you have the chance, don't miss the opportunity to see this amazing area - a whale watch cruise is a must!
