This iReport is part of an assignment:
Is JustFab.com really Fab?
When a consumer purchases items at the web site they are singed up for for a membership and $39.95 is charged to their credit card monthly. They are told they can "skip" a month but must opt out t by the 5th of the month or they are charged and have a "credit" for future use. The problem with this? THE CUSTOMER SERVICE DEPARTMENT RECEIVES MANY HUNDREDS OF CALLS A DAY FROM ANGRY CONSUMERS WHO ARE NOT AWARE OF THIS WHEN THEY MAKE THEIR FIRST PURCHASE! Thousands of people can not be that stupid, it simply is well hidden. In an article written by Tricia Duryee July 26,2013 It becomes clear how the objective of creating revenue is obtained by JustFab.com. Trica writes, "JustFab sells purses, shoes and other accessories to members for a $39.95 a month membership. Most items are manufactured in China or Vietnam, and are created by the company’s stylist panel, including Kimora Lee Simmons." She further magnifies why this revenue is increasing, at consumers fate, "In a recent guest post on AllThingsD, Brian O’Malley, a general partner with Battery Ventures who leads its e-commerce practice, wrote that subscription models are totally overblown. “Investors love the concept of repeatable revenue,” O’Malley wrote, but he cautioned that “with high churn rates and the ability in several models to skip deliveries, retention may be only a function of how hard sites make it to cancel.”
Let me tell you, JustFab.com makes it impossible to cancel!! The customer service department admitted to me they receive many hundreds of calls a day with consumers complaining they were not aware they were signed up and to a monthly commitment. The customer service department says there is no function in their system allowing for a refund and you must make a purchase once the automatic charge of $39.95 is made to the card. However if one goes to Scam.com there are thousands of complaints against JustFab.com and some refunds are noted on the site so one has to wonder how JustFab.com managed to do that if there is no way in their system for this function as customer service states?
It is obvious the founders and Kimora are under handed and are cheating at getting ahead. They are making money by trapping consumers even if only for a month at $39.95 times that by hundreds of thousands a month and it is easy to see what the scam is. This site makes it impossible to cancel. They are thugs and are expanding into Europe now on the money they cheated from hard working consumers.
