THREE CHEERS FOR FANCYING UP A RUSTY OLD TRUCK!
After church on Sunday, I like to run into my favorite restaurant along San Diego Bay, Pizza Nova, and grab a salad to go. The previous Sunday I did just that, but was taken aback by a most unusual sight: an aging truck dressed up with a delicious assortment of knick-knacks and tchotchkes.
This amusing sight was parked along the frontage road of busy North Harbor Drive and sat there unassumingly. I asked a man washing windows at Pizza Nova if he knew anything about the truck and he told me it is parked there every weekend.
I can only assume the driver must be a fisherman because the area where he parked is where people who take off on the overnight fishing boats leave their cars and trucks because there are no parking meters.
Still, I was thoroughly charmed by how such a dilapidated-looking truck could be so dressed up by an imaginative placement of items. At Christmas, there is another old truck that drives around the beach area over-decorated with kitchy but cool Christmas ornaments.
But this summer truck with the creative display was quite a sight. Who says driving a beat-up old rusting hulk needs to be boring? Obviously, not the driver of this artistic automobile!
