In Fresno, Ca today the United Way was giving backpacks away in downtown. These backpacks were filled with school supplies for kids. The event was suppose to be in the evening, but so many families in Fresno are low income that they started to wait in the hot sun since 11:00 a.m. The organizers had barricades and security since last year things got a little rough after supplies ran out. Well nothing new this year. There were only 1200 backpacks available and there was about 2000 plus kids on hand waiting. Its heartbreaking the amount of kids that didn't get a backpack. This is sad to see that a backpack with school supplies can't be put on a child's back in America. The backpack is almost a necessity for a child to succeed in school. Our local mayor isn't doing much for our kids. I would like to start a backpack drive for all the kids in America. If this is one community imagine all the kids that go a school year without a backpack. The small things we take for granted
