On the street in record Taipei City heat - [with Backstory]

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     iReporter Neal Moore says he was inspired to send this story to CNN to help document the city's biggest heat wave in years.

The Republic of China is experiencing a record heat wave. I took to the street to experience and document the heat first hand on my vintage Beijing push-pedal bicycle. Highs yesterday soared to 39.3 degrees Celsius, the hottest day on record for Taipei in 117 years, while today's highs reached 37.9 degrees Celsius. I witnessed locals out in force, armed with umbrellas, ice cream cones, towels, and a saxophone case, all in an effort to beat the heat.
