HOOTERS BANS LECHEROUS MAYOR BOB FILNER
The Hooters girls in San Diego are jumping for joy. No, a rich football player did not leave them a big tip!
(Alleged) lecherous San Diego Mayor Bob Filner, who has been fingered by many a women for sleazy behavior on the job and in his social life has been put on notice: He is not welcome to patronize Hooters.
Several restaurant locations in San Diego will no longer be serving the embattled Mayor, who has had a series of women step forward and accuse him of inappropriate behavior. A recall movement is about to get underway and more women could step out any day now with more accusations.
According to www.politico.com, Hooters cites "respect for women and a belief that people should have standards," in denying entry to the Democrat.
The Republican Party of San Diego Executive Director Francis Barraza got the word out on Twitter when she tweeted a photo of the sign at one of the chains in Rancho Bernardo
The mayor of San Diego will not be served in this establishment,” the sign stated. Director of marketing for Hooters, Melissa Fry, told inquiring media that signs went up at four San Diego locations. CNN and the Washington Post reported this news but the Politico website said that Ms. Fry noted that “It’s not a political move for us in any way, shape, or form. We’re strictly taking a stand for the fair treatment of women. At our franchise alone, we employ 1100 beautiful, talented women.” Not a political move? Maybe, but blatant hypocrisy on the part of Hooters? Yes.
Hooters has every right to put whatever signs it wants up but jumping on the Bash Filner bandwagon is unbecoming to a place that sells overpriced wings and overlooks leering, drooling male customers who need to put their tongues back in their mouth while slurping their beers and watching the jiggly parade go by.
“Our Hooters Girls in San Diego have spoken. Not a corporate gig, but we support our girls" said Ms. Fry. It is a little disingenuous to slap a lecher when he's down, precisely when Hooters makes a profit off men with a healthy, red-blooded interest in attractive females. Yes, I know, Bob Filner treated the gals badly and tried to get them in a headlock while slobbering a kiss. But Bob might have had a bad reaction to his Viagra medication that caused him to lose common sense about respecting other's personal space. His therapist should write him a letter about that.
If Hooters cares so much about it's "1100 beautiful, talented women,” then why make them wear those shortie shorts and low-cut T-shirts as a work uniform? To me, THAT shows a lack of respect for the Hooters workers, as much as Bob Filner (allegedly) shows a lack of respect for women.
Thus the blatant hypocrisy of Hooters begs the question of why would this breastaurant bother to get involved in the Filner Fracas?
Short answer: POLITICS. Long answer: probably the franchise owner is a Republican. I think Bob Filner should strike back and file a complaint against Hooters for denying his entry into their dining establishment because their ban of him denies him DUE PROCESS.Or that Hooters is discriminating against a disabled person (who needs sexual harrassment training.)
As you can see, there is no end to the Filner pandemonium. Whether you want the 70-year old playboy out of office or not, there is no denying his shenanigans have made life interesting again in sleepy, sun-dappled San Diego.
