Bulgarians around the world call on officials in DC for diplomatic isolation of their government

The civil society, both in Bulgaria and abroad continues to gather forces as anti-government protests reach their third consecutive month. Thousands of people are showing their disapproval of the current government  by staging daily protests in front of the National Assembly in Sofia.

In addition to the daily protests in the country, Bulgarians all over the world coordinate weekly protests in major cities around the globe through the international initiative ДАНСwithme Global

Despite the mounting pressure and plummeting popular support, the calls for new elections and accountability are ignored by the government.

As a result, Bulgarians now turn to the government of the United States for support by calling for a diplomatic boycott of the Bulgarian government. The initiative focuses on discrediting the current Bulgarian government by defining it as a pariah that embodies a marriage of convenience between relics from the communist past and the ugly progeny of the former KGB-services that have been morphing into a `business elite' of oligarchs and organized crime leaders.

The campaign will begin on August 14th, when Bulgarian citizens living in the U.S. will start sending individually signed  letters to four institutions in the United States: Vice President Joe Biden, US Senate Committee on Foreign Relations, U.S. Department of State, and The United States House of Representatives.

Here are the links to the letters:

With this initiative, the organizers hope that the people's voice will be heard internationally and their government at home will have to face their demands for resignation and be held accountable.
