Bulgarians around the world call on officials in DC for diplomatic isolation of their government

Bulgarians around the world call on officials in DC for the diplomatic isolation of their government

The civil society both in Bulgaria and abroad is continuing to gather forces as anti-government protests reach their third consecutive month. At home, hundreds of people show their disapproval of the current political regime by staging daily protests in front of the National Assembly in Sofia.

Abroad, through the international initiative #ДАНСwithmeGlobal

(https://www.facebook.com/events/208806839272933/) and #ДАНСwithme World (https://www.facebook.com/DANSwithmeWorld) Bulgarians all over the world coordinate weekly protests in major cities around the globe.

Despite the mounting pressure and plummeting popular support, calls for new elections and accountability are by far largely ignored by the government.

As a result, Bulgarians now turn to the United States government for support in calling for a diplomatic boycott of the Bulgarian government. The initiative focuses on discrediting the current regime as non-representative of the Bulgarian people and illegitimate in its economic and foreign policy decisions.

From August 14th, the campaign begins with Bulgarian citizens sending individually signed and modified letters to four institutions in the United States: Vice President Joe Biden, The White House, US Senate Committee on Foreign Relations, U.S. Department of State, and The United States House of Representatives. Here are the links to the letters:

With this, the organizers hope that the people's voice will be heard internationally and their government at home will have to face their demands and be held accountable.
