Therapeutic nasal device treats snoring
If you have trouble sleeping at night, chances are it could be a number of things like a bad bed, insomnia or your partner keeping you up at night because of their snoring issue, possibly even your own. Theravent Advanced Nightly Snore Therapy, is the first FDA-cleared expiratory positive airway pressure, or EPAP, device that proves to reduce or completely eradicate snoring.
According to the Theravent website, more than 90 million Americans are plagued by the raucous noise of a snore. The World Health Organization recommends that for a good night’s sleep, noise level surrounding the sleeper may not be above 40dB, the equivalent of a whisper—a little out of range from the noise level of snoring.
Green-lighted with a patent in 2012, Theravent Advanced Nightly Snore Therapy uses MicroValve Technology without the need for a prescription. This therapeutic system utilizes a small device that fits on the user’s nose. When breathing out through the nose, there is slight pressure of resistance, which would be the MicroValves working to use the patient’s own breathing cycle to open the airwaves that close which cause snoring to occur. While this does not cure more severe cases such as obstructive sleep apnea, or OSA, Theravent, Inc. does not stop at Theravent Advanced.
Theravent, Inc. also created Provent Sleep Apnea Therapy, which differs from Theravent Advanced Nightly Snore Therapy because the patches are applied directly on each nostril. However, it still allows the body to naturally make its own EPAP and has successfully been used to treat all severities of OSA. On the daily blog for Provent tips are shared on things that cause sleep apnea or the importance of getting a good night’s sleep. A more recent post discusses the issue of smoking in correlation with obstructive sleep apnea.
Matthew Williams, CEO and president of Theravent, Inc. says, “Nasal EPAP represents a significant advancement in the treatment of sleep related breathing disorders are we are committed to the patients and clinicians using our devices on a nightly basis.”
Still questioning the effectiveness of Theravent? When Ventus Medical released their clinical trial results, the numbers of the controlled experiment showed that the therapy reduced sleep by 76 percent in users. The study also revealed that the level of improvement in using Theravent was five times that of just using nasal strips. Under the frequently asked questions, Theravent notes that the difference between their device and a nasal strip is that Theravent utilizes the persons own breathing cycles, where the nasal strip simply works to expand the nostril to provide more passage. Testimonials claim that their concerns were answered after the first night and advocate for others to try the product.
“I’m sleeping even better now because of the Theravent.” says Suzanne G. of Milford, Conn., “I’m not waking myself up several times in a night.”
With both Theravent Advanced Nightly Snore Therapy and Provent Sleep Apnea Therapy now available through Theravent, Inc., the solution for those with snoring problems all across the U.S. is present and working. The “science of silence” is just a MicroValve away.
